— Zaki has long, wildy curly hair that she hates having up. It is dark near the roots but lightens as it goes out. Her aunt used to say it was the magic in the family that gave her such beautiful hair but her father always scoffed about it. Her hair is a dark tanned honey color with many small scars and calouses.

FASHION STYLE :

— In recient years Zaki has been able to expiriment more with her fashion as she was finally allowed to dress like a girl. She has taken from her parents ethnic clothing and mixed it with a little sprinkle of Miyuseille. She will wear more Abantu fashion in the firetide months, Usavaian in raintide and started wearing halfling clothing in frosttide. For the most part she has taken her fashion a lot from her suroundings, only reciently starting to actually look into her family's past and take from her heritage. She will often wears pants because she grew up in pants, she has no issue with dresses though

PERSONALITY : Hard headed, observant, sassy, talkative, strong, close minded
Zaki has a comeback for everything, she has no issue with putting someone in their place if their being rude and she often can insult people in such a way that they are literally speachless about a responce. She does not take from anyone, the pirates included. She often talks to herself so she is used to talking all the time and often needs to be reminded that there are people around her who dont enjoy her constant word river. She is slowly learning to just mumble to herself rather than talk. She often read's people body languages and adjusts her approached based on them but she is very good at gettign people to see her side of things. She has been though trials in her life that have made her out to be a better person and she is stronger for it. She does her best to not let things bother her, rather just roll off her back so she can move on.
Zaki can be a bull in a china shop sometimes and its not that she doesnt notice, she just has better things to do than worry about a little damage to the outside. She can rub people the wrong way because she is smart and she knows it, its not that she flaunts it she just holds herself differantly. She doesnt let people push her around but has a bit of habbit of pushing other people around until they see things her way. She doesnt like when people try to make her change the way she does things or when they dont agree with her science. She refuses to accept other peoples beliefs, calling them fantasys and that they dont want to accept science. She does not bend for other people

BACKGROUND : Growing up Zaki's father had her dress as a boy, respond to everything as a boy and neve tell anyone she was a girl. It was easier for her to live that way, they were wanderers after all. Her father had no desires to be a part of a society and Zaki had to travel with him. They didn't have a real home until she was eleven and they went to her fathers home in Usava. Turns out they were actually quite wealthy and never needed to struggle, her father was just going through some dark times. Zaki never found out why until later.
When they got to Usava her father threw himself at his work, constantly in his laboratory and not with her. She hated suddenly not being around him so she would hide herself away and listen to him doing research and expiriments all day. Turns out he was a scientists, he dabbled in everything from horticulture to herbal medicine to infectious disease. Everyone always laughed at him when he spoke of infectious disease but he was very adiment that it was in fact real and people needed to be more careful with it.
One day he wasn't in his laboritory and Zaki went in the main door and started sorting some of the vials he had laying about. When he came back he was raging mad but then he noticed she had correctly put them away so, against his better judgement, he started teaching her about it. She expecially loved herbal medicine. This started a huge roar in the towns around them, a woman cant be learning science or medicine, it was unheard of. Her father had to stop immediatly or face the judgement of the council. Her father wasnt going to stop but he wasn't going to take the harassment from the city. He moved to another one of their homes, this time in Miyuseille but this time he was more strict on Zaki keeping up the apperance of a boy. His family dropped all of their trade and wealth from the city they left and the town started a steady economic decline.
Over the next ten years Zaki learned so much, including her father's initial resentment. Her parents were not supposed to be together. Her mother was a head strong gypsy from the badlands who stole her fatheres heart and they ran away together. He offered to give up all his wealth in order to be with her and she left her tribe to be with him. They were wandering nomads with every freedom they could imagine. When Zaki came along they were more than excited but things started going wrong later in the pregnancy. Her mother got sicker and sicker but refused to give up the baby, there was even a few times her father contemplated forcing her to give up the baby but he didnt. Her mother died a few days after Zaki was born and her father was hart broken. Apparently, even as a child, Zaki looked just like her mother, unruly curly hair and all. That is another reason why he had her dress as a boy, to hide the resemblence.
Her mothers family started coming around so she was able to learn about the badlands and Sbakhlan but a lot of the lore Zaki thought was rubbish, magic isnt real, its just what people who dont understand whats happening describe it as. Her aunts never gave her any strife about her disbelief, only loved on her.
As Zaki learned more and more about medicinal herbs she started to dabble in medicine as well, here and there a villager would be sick and she would do what she could for them but her father was very against it. What if something happened and people learned she was a woman, which was getting ahrder and harder to hide now a days. He insisted she stay on their property so she could stay safe.
After a while it got incredibly boring staying safe. Zaki dressed in average female apparel and headed out into the city to explore. It wasnt nearly as frightening or dangerous as her afther made it out to be and that was annoying. She started doing this more and more, eventually her father did find out but he didnt want to fight about it. They came to an agreement that she could stop dressing as a male if she would start bringing one of the staff with her into the city, a male staff to protect her. She rolled her eyes but was able to start growing her hair out and dressing comfortably.
Over the next year and a half her father and her grew closer. They bonded over their love for science and would often take trips to gather new research or to test things on local wildlife, but they never went alone. When Zaki's father insisted he go on a trip by himself Zaki was adement that she go as well, he cant go alone, what if he needed help? He refused though. He was going to take a ship to a remote island in the Deep Domain to go look at some rare plants people have written about but never brought to the mainland and studied, he should be gone a month, maybe two. There was nothing to worry about, the Empire Opal has made the trip before and the captian isnt worried at all. Before her father left he had the captian over so she could meet him and decide for herself he was a good man who knew how to sail, something she never learned. Zaki was still against it but her father left the next day and she was on her own.
It didnt bother her being alone but it was strange to not have her father at dinner. She insisted the staff start eating with her, just so she wasnt sitting in silence. IT helped but only for a while. Soon she realised the return date had passed but no Empire Opal. She started asking around and sending out letter to people she knew all over the lands to see if anyone had heard of the Empire Opal. One person reapsonded that, during the time the ship was set to go through the Deep Domain, a massive storm came thorough, one so big it took entire villages off the map forever. It is possible to got the ship as well.
Zaki started packing a bag and looking for a ship dumb enough to go that far into uncharted territries and it took a few months, months that her father didnt have to spare. Finally the Nightinggale agreed to take her there, only aftger a small fortune was sent their way. Zaki didnt care, her father was a very, very wealthy man and the fortune they were asking was literally nothing to her.

The atmosphere on the Nightingale was differant than she had ever expirianced. She had been on plenty of ships but none that were captianed by pirates. She kept a dagger visibly tied around her waist at all times. Her father taught her to use it but she wasnt very good with it, she tended to freeze up when she needed to not. She was given a room with a small bed but ample space for her things, which she may have over packed for. She didnt know what state her father was going to be in so she brought everything she could.
For the most part the voyage was going well, they had to make a few stops along the way and Zaki didnt mind it, she had never seen Piranh Isles before. Just after they set out though their ship was attacked. Zaki hid herself away in her quarters and was safe for the most part. Somehow a bullet tore though a part of her room and lodged itsself into her stomach, just above her hip. She did what she could, putting pressure and a bandage on it but she soon passed out from blood loss and the pain. She came to days later in the surgery with the surgeon hovering over her. Apparently the captian said she has to live because she family might find and kill them all if she didnt make it.
The two of them were there for days, he refused to leave her side just in case something went south. He walked her around the ship, trying to get mobility back and said she might never be the same but he would work with her and do anything he could to help. A few times some of the crew came to him complaining of an ailment, he told them to go drink and get over it, he was busy.

It took a while for Zaki and her father to get close but once they did it was like they were inseperable. Zaki was able to know what her father was thinking just by watching him and it made research easy for them. When he went missing Zaki had a moment of panic that she was now an orphan but then she shut that down because she was going to ind him

For the longest time Zaki didnt like Luc but he slowly is growing on her. He has protected her from ruffients more than a few times and he did everything he could to go on this trip with her but she made him stay, said that she needed someone she trusts to keep the house in order.

Caro is only a few years older than Zaki so Zaki saw her as more of an older sister than a staff member. Caro is always Zaki's voice of reason, even now Zaki hears Caro's voice in the back of her head warning her against dangers.

PLOTLINE : Surgeon

PERSONALITY:

— Mirek is a soft man who opposes violence and does everything he can to help people. He is quiet, harldy ever raises his voice and has no issues with letting other people take the lead, except when it comes to the surgery he is always in lead there. He is a people person who finds it easy to connect and soothe others but he is an anxious person. He hasn't lost anyone yet and is terrified he is going to lose someone.

BACKGROUND:

— As a young boy Mirek didnt speak until he was five. His father thoguht he was an invaled, he just had nothing he needed to say. He was quite intelegent, picking up things from his family faster than anyone expected him to and he did so well in school that he was smarter than people years older than him. His parents were approached by members of the navy when he was ten, asking if they would let him train with one of their surgeons. They would be rewareded hansomly for having shuch an intelegent boy and of course they said yes.
Mirek was attached to the surgeon for two years, learning everything he had to teach and soon was doing his own aid. He started going by a code that he would help anyone, regardless of standings or if they had anything of value because human life was value enough.
At fourteen he was put on his own ship as the head surgeon with two boys older than him under him. The two boys often faught him, trying to asster their dominance and Mirek didnt fight back, he let them do what ever they wanted but when it came to the surgory he was in charge.
Mirek had a simple life. He hardly ever left the ship and was only needed if sometihng bad happened but he worked for the Wintaberg royal navy, things only went bad a few times a month. For the most part he was traveling and seeing new places, helping people here and there. There were a few times they went to shore to help people who needed it but he didnt have an exciting life.
Five years ago a pirate ship crawled up to them, no flag was flown and there was no activity on board. They would have bumped into them if not for the crew members hooking the rails with grappling hooks. When they got on deck there was a young boy, clearly feaverish and close to death but he still warned them off the boat. Mirek called the two others and the hopped on board.
There was nothing that could be done for the boy but the others that were down below they were able to help. There were two people not sick, the cook and another young crewmember. They locked themselves in the kitchen stock room, waiting for the to stop before coming back out. Mirek easily identified the sickness as dysentery and ordered every crew member be carried up to the deck. He hears about people washing their hands, cleaning their clothing and giving sick people bone broth and prune juice.
The two ships crept to the nearest shore as Mirek stripped the pirates down, put them in fresh blankets and clothes and had the two healthy crew members scrub the crews quarters top to bottom. They complained about it but did as he asked. In the end they lost five crew members but saved seven others. Mirek was able to convince his ship to leave the pirates alone, there was still a chance they would still die from the illness anyhow and it was best to not capture them because they could bring it onboard.
The Nightingale was docked for over a month with Mirek onboard, helping the sick. The other two were able to go back to their ship and continue their duties there so it was just him when the pirate ship opened their sails in the middle of the night and crept slowly out to sea. Mirek didn't notice, they were moving too slowly, so hours later when he went back on deck to check on the sick he saw only sea, the port and his ship were gone and he was trapped on a pirate ship.
He argued with the captian, over multiple things like he needs rest and more broth and he cant just kidnap surgeons when he feels like it so they need to go back, Mirek will just say they drifted away and they wont be in trouble but the captian refused. He ended up passing out and Mirek brought him back to his bed but Mirek didnt know how to steer a ship so he was forced to float through the open sea.
While the pirates recovered Mirek started seeing them as more than just pirates. The carpenter was a smart man with smooth hands who was running away from an arranged marrage. The quartermaster was a quiet, stoek man who would often be found drinking in a dark corner but still watching out for his crew mates. The crewman was a kind young soul who had a passion for music so there was always a tune of some sort filling the ship. These were blood thirsty cut throats like the navy painted them to be. Yes they did steal and kill people but Mirek saw them give back as well.
Months after the sickness Mirek wanted to leave, he said his job there was done and he had a life to get back to but the captian refused. Said there was no way he was going to loose someone as talented as Mirek. Mirek said he would start sabatoging the ship and crew, he knew ways to make death look like an accident, which was true, and if the captian didnt let him go that he would start. The captian retorted that if even one member died Mirek would hang for it.
After that Mirek slowly started accepting the fact that he was a pirate. He wasn't actually going to kill anyone, he couldn't, it was against his code of ethics. He tohught he would go back to the navy if he had the chance but the chance didnt arise fo ryears and by that time he was so set in his life onboard the Nightingale he didnt want to leave.

LOVE STORY:

— Usually the women that came on the Nightingale were feirce women and Mirek tended to avoid them unless they needed something from him so when Zaki cam abord he was interested right away. She was beautiful, smart and openly faced down the pirates. A few tried to give her greaf but she tossed itching powder in their faces and they started giving her a wide birth. Mirek did the opposite, he did everything to be with her while she was looking through her reasearch so he could learn things from her, wich he did. She had such a differant outlook on medicin, he was blown away.
When Zaki got hurt Mirek felt like he could hardly breath, he had a crush on this woman for how long and she was going to die before he said anything to her. He worked on her for hours, spairing no expence to help her and it worked, she was coming out of it. He decided then that he was going to spend more time with him and tell her how he felt about her. When he did she laughed, but not a mean laugh, more like a are you serious laugh. He started going out of his way to mkae her understand that he liked her and that he wanted to spend time with her.

ENDING:

— Mirek and Zaki did start spending time together. He taught her all about surgery and she started teaching him science, enough that one was able to help the other. Their trip was long enough that they had plenty of time to learn.
When the nightingale got the the Deep Domain Mirek was the one that went ashore to the tiny little islands to help her look for clues to the Empire Opal or her father and when they found nothing he was the one comforting her, insisting something had to come up. They eventually did find something on a small, inhabeted island. One of the villagers was wearing the captians coat but it was ripped and scuffed up. Zaki didnt press about it but the captian did when he found out. He pushed enough that he found out the Empire Opal was there, they traded goods and left in one peice but that was all the villagers knew.

— I have nothing against pirates, they are uneducated brutes but not everyone can be educated or live a civilized life apparently.

— He wont be busy when he hears my proposal, I'm sure money talks with him and I have lots of it.

IT’S A KNOWN SUPERSTITION THAT WOMEN ARE BAD LUCK ON SHIPS, SO WHAT MAKES YOU WORTHY TO TAG ALONG? :

— Superstition is a comfort for those who dont know any better. Women aren't luck in one way or the other, they just exist. How would you know if someone was a woman, woman easily pass for men when they need to, are you pulling down the trowsers of everyone that walks on board to see what they have down stairs? What do you classify as a woman, if someone identifies as a man are they good luck? There are animals that can change their gender depending on what they need, so would they be bad luck on board as well?
