- gaeul is pretty average in terms of height and weight, 163cm and 55kg. she doesn't consider herself extremely pretty since she's still got a lot of baby fat and despite looking skinny, her stomach sticks out a bit. she has a mole on her right shoulder and three small ones in a line on the side of her left thigh. there is also a large noticeable scar on her right knee from when she skinned it badly as a kid.

- her fashion style is very simple: it’s just anything that’s comfortable. usually she goes around in a long-sleeved shirt or a t-shirt (depending on how hot or cold it is outside) and jeans with sneakers. if it's cold outside, she'll put on a hoodie and a puffy coat. if it's hot outside, she'll wear shorts or a skirt or a dress. she prefers flowy sundresses to any other type. she technically also wears glasses, but her vision isn't too bad so she can forget them occasionally and it won’t be a very big deal. everything will just be slightly blurry. she never wears contacts, though.

gaeul is sort of unassuming. she's pretty, but not to the point of attracting everyone who looks at her, and she's quiet, rarely speaking in class unless the teacher calls on her. she's not particularly shy, but she does tend to have a poker face, which makes other people think that she's uninteresting in them, but in reality, she just doesn’t talk to people unless they talk to her first. she’s also a bit lonely because she doesn't have many friends other than her sister. she does, however, greet the friends that she has very cheerfully and tries to always be there for them when they need her.

she can also be pretty stubborn and stuck in her own mind or mindset, not easily changing her mind once it's set (haha pun intended), but she's a loyal friend and cares a lot about her friends’ and family’s opinions. if her friends tell her something that goes against her beliefs, she'll consider it very seriously and may change her mind without much convincing, just because it was her friend who said it. she's quite level-headed and calm, which means that she will rarely ever have outbursts of emotion, but the downside to this is that she bottles everything up. one day, she’ll certainly explode… she also has a fairly good memory and will remember details that her friends tell her, like their coffee orders or their allergies, and she’s a good active listener and is willing to spend money/time in order to help others.

in addition, she's not the smartest kid in the room, but she works really hard. she knows she’s just average and she needs to take twice as much effort to learn stuff than everyone else, but she's willing to put in the work. however, because she works so hard, she tends to neglect living her own life and often sinks into bouts of self-doubt and self-loathing where she doesn't think she's good enough. she also has a tendency to self-destruct and be like 'well this is already bad enough so i might as well make it worse'; this applies mostly to self-care areas of her life, like not getting enough sleep despite already being sleep deprived, or starving herself despite being on a diet because she thinks she’s still not thin enough, etc.

growing up, gaeul and gyeoul were just average. they came from an average family with parents who did average-paying jobs, their grades were average and decent enough to get into a normal college, and they thought that's what their lives would be like forever. now, gaeul didn’t mind that; she was content to just go to college, meet a nice boy and start a family, and be a normal hardworking average person. but gyeoul was ambitious. she didn’t want to be stuck in a boring normal life forever. she wanted to explore the world, interact with it as much as she could, leave an impression on some people, and that's how they ended up auditioning for sunlight ent.

speaking of gyeoul, there's no one else that gaeul would rather have by her side in life and especially during training. they're twins and have always stuck together no matter what, through good and bad and thick and thin. gaeul is slightly more quiet and levelheaded as compared to gyeoul, who has an excitable nature, so she was often the 'good daughter' and studied a bit harder to earn higher grades. as a result (though unbeknownst to her), gyeoul resented her a little bit before they made it into the company.

first meeting:
they first met at a little restaurant by the han river in november 2014, after gaeul started training. this day, gyeoul wasn't feeling so well, so gaeul went on a walk alone after the day was over. when she sat down in the little restaurant and ordered some tteokbokki, she wasn't expecting to look up and make eye contact with the prettiest girl she'd ever seen. the girl, who was also eating tteokbokki, seemed a little stunned too, but she quickly smiled and looked back at her food. then, before gaeul's food even came, the girl finished eating and left the restaurant.

development:
after that day, gaeul often went on walks to the han river and to that restaurant in hopes of seeing the girl again. one day, they found themselves in the same situation as when they first met, and gaeul quickly went up to her and expressed that she wanted to be friends.

although yunji was sort of wary at first, she realized that gaeul really did just want to be friends. turns out that yunji was also a trainee, but at star empire. they bonded over their shared experiences and quickly became close friends.

however, after some time, gaeul began to realize that her feelings for yunji were not quite as innocent as she thought. she began to have internal crises and took many online 'are you gay' quizzes (yes ik lol). she even posted anonymously to an lgbt forum asking 'do i have feelings for my best friend' to which the answer, obviously, was yes.

gaeul didn't know what to do; she didn't want to not be friends anymore, but she also didn't want to ruin this friendship. then, thankfully, she debuted and did not really have time to worry about her uality in the face of everything that was happening.

- when gaeul and gyeoul first found out about the company, they were barely 18 and wanted to do something fun with their lives instead of going to college all day like losers. they auditioned for fun, thinking it was a cool adventure, and were totally not expecting to get in, but after they received the news, both decided to take it seriously.

- gyeoul took it much more seriously than gaeul, who (knowing that they got in through visuals) always felt a bit self-conscious about her skills, since neither of them had any training beforehand. despite working hard and improving steadily, gaeul always felt inferior to her sister, who was dubbed a natural at rapping. however, since the vocal trainers always praised her unique husky voice, gaeul never voiced any of her concerns and instead kept acting like normal.

- when gyeoul was sent off to produce48, part of gaeul hoped that she would be sent too. but instead, she was kept back at the company to train. she congratulated her sister and tried to be happy for her (after all, she knows how hard her sister worked) but during this time, she was actually very unhappy. still, she tried to pretend like nothing was wrong. but after gyeoul was eliminated and came back, gaeul must admit that she was actually sort of happy, even as she comforted gyeoul in the middle of the night. gaeul thought that this made them even, since they’d now both experienced failure, and they could go back to being sisters again.

- but then gaeul was chosen for necalli, and the sisters’ relationship totally fell apart. gyeoul thought it was unfair that gaeul should be chosen, but gaeul had been working hard and thought she deserved it. part of her was also tired of trying to catch up to gyeoul, so she decided that it might be good for them to cool down for a bit. unfortunately, this sibling rivalry is still on-going by the time gyeoul debuts, so they’re still not speaking to each other even after adore debuts.
