Daeseok’s story, ironically, starts long before Daeseok was even a conceivable thought -- that is to say, before he was even a twinkle in his father’s eye.
Lee Jangmi, the woman that would one day be Daeseok’s mother, was born premature in early December, YEAR. At the time, she was small and was even considered sickly by the NICU doctors entrusted with her care. Her parents were informed that there was a chance she wouldn’t survive the night. And then, when she did, that she would be lucky to see Chrismas morning. And when the small family finally left the hospital some weeks later, it was with the warning that Sooyoung would likely always be small and weak, and that they should not hold their baby girl to too high of expectations.
So of course, Jangmi was held to the highest of expectations. And with tender care and dedication, Jangmi blossomed just like her namesake -- beautifully, exceptionally, and unequivocally.
As Jangmi aged, constantly flying by the expectations her doctors had laid out for her at birth, her parents placed her into different activities, allowing Jangmi to discover for herself where her interests lie all while offering her the best education and experiences that they could offer. As two successful business-minded individuals, Jangmi’s parents -- Daeseok’s grandparents -- had plenty of money and connections, and Jangmi was never lacking for things to do. Eventually, Jangmi found ballet. And the rest, as they say, is history.
Jangmi spent all of her youth and adolescence in ballet schools of differing levels and intensities, working her way up within the ranks, perfecting her form and learning all there was for her to learn before moving on to bigger and better things. Eventually, her parents agreed to send Jangmi overseas to study in America, enabling her dedication to her art. And in YEAR, Jangmi was made an offer she couldn’t refuse: a chance to apprentice at the American Ballet Theater in New York City, arguably one of the best classical ballet companies in the world.

before iris, what were DAESEOK's thoughts and / or feelings on elurra? or at least, what was his opinion of them?While it wouldn’t be completely honest to say that Daeseok was a fanboy of Elurra immediately from debut, it would also be wrong to say that he wasn’t always a fan to some degree. Elurra’s debut with The Chaser was a powerful move, and one that Daeseok had immense respect for. Their knife-like choreography and the overall feel of the song was amazing, and he always thought that Elurra simply deserves better. Their following comebacks were good (very good, you might even say), but after Destiny, the lineup changes got to be a little frustrating. It seemed to Daeseok that every time Elurra seemed to find their footing with their new lineup, genre of music, and overall style, the rug was yanked out from benetah their feet, forcing them to start all over again. Even so, Daeseok found himself with immense respect for Junhyeok, Name, Name, and Name for sticking with the group despite all of the changes. He admired them fiercely, their passion and dedication, their tenacity and determination

Growing up, it was something that caused friction between himself and his father, and something Daeseok worked for a number of years to change. but then puberty came and went, his voice never really dropped like the average male's, and after some soul-searching and talks with his mother and eventually with his step-dad, Daeseok learned to not just accept, but also embrace that aspect of himself. He feels his higher tone is one of his more noteable characteristics and now he's more than happy to show it off. He's worked hard to take his previous doubt and insecurity and turn it into a strength, and it shows when he raps. He has a particular tone and edge to his voice when he raps more so than he does in a regular conversation
