CHINATSU ISHIDA
charybdis
charybdis
charybdis
full name. chinatsu ishida  (石田 知夏)
other names.
· the girl from hara's traditional music department chinatsu has a bit of a reputation around amemachi, and it's not uncommon to hear her described this way, but whether the speaker's voice is hushed, nearly reverent, or disguised depends on who you're asking.
· nacchan a default nickname that she encourages people to use.

birthdate. 10 02 (20)
birthplace. kumamoto, japan
hometown. kumamoto, japan
ethnicity. japanese
uality. heteroual
face claim. mio imada
stature. 158cm & 44kg

appearance. petite and girlishly pretty, chinatsu looks everything like she belongs on the cover of a swimsuit magazine - and perhaps she does. either way, there's an intentionality about her presence; she exists to be seen, and in an incredibly specific way. always smiling, tucking her hair behind her ear to reveal a stretch of pale, smooth skin, her smell sweet and just on this side of spicy, chinatsu is decidedly feminine and impossible to ignore.
style. tank tops, shorts and miniskirts, anything long-sleeved is either sheer or made out of some sort of loosely-woven fabric. often found in a bikini and a tastefully oversized coverup. when she's alone - really, truly alone, with no chance of being seen by another person - she wears lounge shorts and a thick, fleecy hoodie.
personality
xntj / chaotic evil / libra / sanguine / "the reasoned hedonist."
chinatsu is simple as she is complex, as interested in base pleasure as she is intellectual conversation. the girl you either hate or love or want to or maybe all three. you wonder if her are real or not. it doesn't really matter, but you can't stop thinking about it. she's not just magnetic, but memorable, the summation of a thousand archetypes and a waist you can fit in two hands. she treats your imagination like a playground, your dreams like a love hotel. you've seen her , but you've never seen her cry.

[but under soft smiles and her s against your arm as she leans forward, forward, forward, leaning for her cup that's somehow all the way across the table, isn't that strange, is a determination to destroy the world and build it back up to her taste, to steal hearts and then swallow them whole. this is a personal justice, a meal for one, served without hesitation. anything can be easy, she knows, as long as she treats it like it is. she's singleminded and always successful, even when she's pinned down and helpless. because you desire her. you want her. she won the moment you made eye contact.]

upbeat, confident, provocative
calculated, intense, cruel

character.
· born in kumamoto, japan - a larger city in kyuushuu - to a modest, traditional family, where she was often ignored in favor of her younger brother, keiichiro, except at the mention of her femininity, her girlishness. how demure she was, how perfect a wife and mother she would be, one day. this continues throughout her childhood, as much from extended family as it is from complete strangers.
· she began taking lessons in most aspects of japanese culture when she was five, but narrowed down her focus to music at age eleven.
· received her first confession at age fourteen, from a boy a year older than her. their relationship developed quickly physically and chinatsu enjoyed the attention, but she didn't feel mentally or emotionally attached.
· she broke up with him not long after, and found that she enjoyed the sense of control that this gave her - she was wanted by someone, and it was up to her to accept or deny that desire. she becomes much more romantically and ually open throughout high school, unbeknownst to her family.
· she gets a small scholarship to go to hara university and study music and performance, and accepts. around the same time (at graduation), her parents find out about her reputation at school and the car ride home is a screaming match.
· she moves to amemachi to attend school, bringing almost all of her belongings and all of her childhood savings with her. she has no plans to return.
· continues to have plenty of flings and one-night-stands in university, dressing the way she wants and bar-hopping or socializing friday through sunday - her hookups and relationships aren't limited to the student body. instead, her arms are open to anyone with the confidence to approach her, or an attractive enough face to get her attention, though no one has lasted longer than a few months. she begins to gain a reputation around campus and amemachi.
· otherwise, she throws herself into her studies - her passion - making just enough money to cover rent, food, and some new clothes every semester. she likes her life, even things are tight sometimes. she still hasn't returned to kumamoto, except for one brief visit during her second year to pick up some of her stuff, but even then she only interacted with keiichiro.
· her classes tend to stretch throughout the day - being a music major is a lot of work! - but she wakes up and turns in early on weekdays in order to survive. she mealpreps for lunches on sundays, but rarely eats breakfast beyond a cup of tea, and eats out for dinner quite often. (this is usually paid for by someone else, whether it's a date or a friend or a professor treating their small ensemble to dinner.)

relationships
· nana while they've been in the same spaces as a result of chinatsu's major and nana's classical dance team responsibilities, they've never spoken - pouty-lipped, scantily-clad music major chinatsu with calm, classy biology major nana? impossible. despite this, they have one similarity: a dogged determination to stay in amemachi all year round, to avoid what is waiting for them at home.
· nell chinatsu and nell don't know each other, but she's stopped by his projects and asked a few polite questions or ooh-ed and ahh-ed at what she saw once or twice. he's probably overheard gossip or stories about her from classmates, given chinatsu's reputation on campus.
· keiichiro chinatsu and her younger brother do get along, despite how jealous she was of him all throughout childhood. he's four years younger - still in highschool - and incredibly good-hearted. he doesn't know what chinatsu is like, really, and most of his memories of her are from when she would take care of him at home as a kid: washing some fruit for him, helping him open or reach things he couldn't, helping him with his homework. chinatsu is similarly fond of keiichiro; he's still a baby in her eyes, and she knows that it's not his fault he was born a son and she a daughter. they text, sometimes, and keiichiro keeps his parents financially supportive of chinatsu, but they're both too busy and far apart to interact much.

trivia
· chinatsu can play almost every japanese traditional instrument due to her years of training, but she specializes in the sanshin and the koto.
· she offers beginner and intermediate-level private lessons in the sanshin and the koto online and in the amemachi region (what she's doing this summer, mostly), and has been hired (as a soloist and in ensembles) to play at weddings or other important events a few times.
· most of her few real friends are men, and her classmates from the traditional japanese music department. they are pretty protective of her, and don't always approve of her life choices... but they're still the people who know her best on campus.
· might be aromantic but alloual... might just be emotionally damaged... you decide.
· she hasn't paid for one of her own drinks at a bar or restaurant in years.
· while she's not on good terms with her family, her parents still pay the majority of her tuition thanks to keiichiro's influence, and her scholarship from the university increased after her freshman year thanks to her high academic standing.
· going on dates (at minimum one every two weeks, depending on her relationship status and how many fresh faces there are in town - chinatsu keeps track of any academic conferences and home field sports games the university hosts for this reason) is actually a way that she manages her budget, even though her more cautious friends have told her again and again that it's risky and she shouldn't do it.
· she's not quite a social pariah at university - she's definitely offended a fair few for wearing shorts too short or having her bra incorporated as part of her outfit or accidentally sleeping with a taken man who came onto her, but most of the student body find her entertaining or y rather than downright erse, and some first or second years even say that seeing her at a party is a sign it's going to be a good one.
· she only drinks alcohol from sealed containers, like bottles, cans, or her very own flask, which she occasionally carries in her purse. it's almost always holding hard liquor, and she never shares. she's got a strong tolerance for her body size, but given how small she is it's still not much.

did you have a choice in staying or leaving this summer? if so, why did you decide to stay this year?
chinatsu pushes her hair back, letting it fall in a curtain over her bare shoulder. "i guess i did have a choice?" she says, as though she hadn't considered this in her own decision-making process before, "but the answer seemed obvious to me... some people don't like where they came from, and i'm one of those people. i could have gone back but..." she trails off, looking directly at the interviewer, her gaze suggesting... something. she shifts in her chair, and the moment evaporates. "i don't have the money to go to somewhere cool like the city or hawaii, either, so..."

what is your opinion on the kaijuu group and the hara nine?
she's slightly serious, as she answers this question. given her presence in hara university's student body and all her... connections, there's little doubt that she's familiar with at least one of the missing over the three years she's been enrolled. "it's a problem, for sure, but i won't pretend to know anything about it." for the first time, it seems that she's shed the girly, flower-patterned facade. her eyes are hard, dark as she speaks. "i do think there's some link between the kaijuu group and the people that go missing... and i mean, there are cults in every small town like this, it's inevitable-" she pauses, now sounding entirely calculating - angry, even. and then it's like watching a chameleon change its colors or losing sight of a stick-bug as it stops moving among the leaves, the way her smile creeps back on her face, the way a ringing chuckle crawls out of . "they're probably related, but i really don't know much about either!"

how do you work in a team?
"hmm..." she starts, "it really depends on the kind of team, i guess? or who else is in it?" her lips, pink and glossy, form a perfect pout as she thinks on her answer. "i'm pretty used to everyone working together and each pulling their weight, because, like, music? in an ensemble everyone has to collaborate, or your mistakes are going to stick out! that's just what i'm used to, though... i could probably take the lead if i had to, but i don't know if people would take me seriously, hah." she leans to one side as she finishes speaking, moving her long hair from one shoulder to the other, and inadvertently allowing the weight of gravity to deepen the cleavage peeking out from under her deep-necked blouse.

what is your opinion on demons? monsters? cryptids?
she laughs, an open, clear sound - chinatsu's patented blend, enough belly-laugh to feel familiar and charming, but enough of a girlish giggle that it's still polite, coy. "they're fun to learn about in stories! actually, i kind of love them... what they represent, you know, what people used to come up with to cope with the unexplainable?" she laughs again, but this time it's ever so slightly softer. "don't get me started, i could totally nerd out about this stuff! i mean, it's kind of what i'm studying at school, the history of legends like that..." she sobers, slightly, leaning back in her chair, hands coming to rest between her thighs, "but they're just legends of course. characterizations of phenomenons we've explained through science, and stuff."

lastly, what's your opinion on the ocean?
"i like the ocean," she says, "it's fun to go to the beach, no matter what time of year. i love the waves..." she smiles again, with teeth. "and fish? tasty, of course! i don't have much of an appetite, sometimes, but fish is always one of my favorites!"

after a moment, she stands, and turns to leave, one hand still trailing against the back of the chair she'd been sitting in. "thanks for interviewing me," she says, "was a pleasure."

final words. bimbo but she's kind of got a brain just maybe not a moral compass or any longsleeved clothes
