NICKNAMES.

JUN, ZUMA

Shortened versions of his first name and last name respectively. Junichi and Inazuma are both a mouthful for most students, let alone native Koreans. He's mostly referred to as Jun or Junichi by close friends and family.

CIRCUS TIGER

Due to his past as a youth performer at the prolific Dong Choon circus in Ansan and his continued practice of gymnastics even while at Ledrith, Junichi has earned this nickname among the staff & student population.

PAW BOY

An insult(?) made by his fellow red/orange code students, this refers to an incident that happened in Junichi's 2nd year of high school where he accidentally turned his hands and feet into white, furry tiger paws for a week after a failed attempt to fully transform into his animal form.

APPEARANCE.
Junichi has the mesomorph body type, proportioned adequately. He's quite muscular for a 16-year old due to his gymnastics training and need to be in top shape to be able to use his abilities to its full potential. He has two ear piercings on both ears. A scar (about 12 cm in length)  from a third-degree burn is found on his right flank in the shape of a lightning bolt.

HEIGHT. 177 cm

WEIGHT. 61 kg

STYLE / FASHION.
Junichi wears his uniform properly most of time, always making sure that he looks as presentable as possible. When not in class, he may take off his jacket and roll up his sleeves to partially transform for whatever reason.

Outside classes, Junichi's personal style often involves the use of dark, earthy tones (various shades of black, gray, white, brown, and green; with rare pops of red), with his wardrobe with an almost monochromatic look. He dresses appropriately for the weather, but particularly likes dressing up for the wintertime, which allows him to layer with coats & sweaters. When at the dorms or whenever he's free, he allows his arms and legs to be exposed by wearing sleeveless shirts and shorts to easily transform whenever he has to.

DARKNESS IS JUST LIGHT TURNED INSIDE OUT.

PERSONALITY.

INFP-T : MEDIATOR : HUFFLEPUFF

[+] gentle, calm, hardworking, caring, loyal
[=] idealistic, creative, reserved,
introverted, empathetic

[-] extremely patient, low self-esteem, indecisive
conflict-averse, self-critical

People’s first impression of Junichi mostly boil down into one of two words depending on where they meet him—intimidating in the gym & the library, gentle anywhere else. He has this quiet air of determination to him, whenever he’s focusing hard on doing his routines, or when trying to find an answer to a difficult math problem. His physique doesn’t help—muscular, toned body that can cause serious damage to normal humans with a graceful spin kick to the face. However, once you hear him talk, you’ll definitely see his gentle nature. Generally soft-spoken and careful with his words, Junichi is kind to almost everyone he meets, respectfully lending a helping hand or paw for those who need it. Call him an idealist, but Junichi feels like that sort of thing shouldn’t be praised as being mostly nice should be prerequisite in being a living, breathing person. He is calm and collected, even in times when he’s mentally panicking for a test. To his peers, he’s their Zen garden; a place to unwind, to calm one’s nerves, to say one’s feelings. He makes a pretty good listener because he’s empathetic and reserved, only speaking his mind whenever he feels like it’s necessary. Junichi never intrudes and is never too curious about others, unless when he feels that they are in danger.

As a helping paw(?) figure around Ledrith, Junichi does like interacting with people, but values his time alone. This is why training at the gyms is important to him. Its when he feels most like himself, like he can do anything. Whenever he’s on the mat, he lets his creativity run wild and creates routines that can express himself and bring joy to others. He does not like competing with others except for himself, and often reflects on things he has done or things that bother him by himself. Junichi feels that one’s first friend should always be one’s self, even if you don’t necessarily like yourself. Whenever he feels the need to interact with others on a deeper level, he only does so with a select group of people, to whom he is fiercely loyal to. If Junichi considers you as a true friend, he will remain your friend despite not talking to each other for a long time, or even after you have done something other people have crucified you for. He will always try and understand you, even if it may be difficult for him. He believes that believing in others’ capabilities is a way to empower them and make them believe in their capacity to do good and correct their mistakes. Junichi cares for his friends in this way. He allows himself to be in on his friends’ schemes, help them on their projects, and be there to laugh, cry, and vent out with them. He has grown to want to bring comfort to others, just like how he wanted to have that for himself growing up. Others count on him to bring a smile to their faces with some circus theatrics & magic tricks, both of which he is more than happy to provide.

Junichi has always been a dreamer. It's probably why he grew so amazed with his mother's work; as its in the circus where seemingly impossible  dreams come alive before one's very eyes. He has big dreams of leaving all of this ability stuff behind to start anew somewhere with his mother, away from the discrimination & politics in the world of ability users like him. Junichi seeks to rid others of the latter in his own way, preferably not outwardly speaking about it and helping others through his actions. Due to this idealistic world view, it upsets him greatly when someone comes in to tell him that dreams like that will only stay dreams, and the ideals he has built for himself throughout the years are pathetic or stupid. He may be sensitive to criticism, and take negative things said to him to heart. To prevent any of this from happening, he’s generally conflict-averse, preferring to not cause any ruckus or argument over who’s wrong or right in caution of hurting other’s feelings or his own. He remains patient with others, especially with his friends or people he’s supposed to work with, seemingly quick to understand and forgive them. These make him look like a pushover for outsiders who are not close to him. However, Junichi just has a very long fuse. If you manage to burn it down all the way to the source, docile Junichi disappears into hot, white lightning: furious & unforgiving.

Although he regards his friends and some of his peers very highly and believes in their capabilities, Junichi finds it hard to do exactly that with himself. This is probably where his high regard for others’ opinions come from. He can have low self-esteem at times, especially in areas he knows he isn’t particularly good at, like school. This often leads to inner pessimistic thoughts about himself and his performance, and ultimately, his self-worth. As much as he tries to deny it, his past continues to hold onto him to this day. He is often self-critical of his decisions, words, actions, and abilities, often pondering over them for a long period of time, desperately trying to find out if he said, did, or is doing the right thing. This leads him to hate himself sometimes, angry at himself more than being angry at other people. Junichi knows that he shouldn’t be carrying his insecurities & problems all by himself, that he should open up to others, to his best friends, but he still finds that to be difficult. He’s extremely hyperaware of his flaws, which drives him to be hardworking towards his ideals.

Junichi is still on the path to liking the entirety of himself. However, all he wants is to be brave enough to live for himself and for the people he cares for—at any cost.

BACKGROUND.
[!] non-graphic character death; kidnapping; physical, mental abuse

                                       神

The gods of the Shinto religion. The kami. Since its inception, the deities portrayed in these stories were actually very human, only different from the normal majority with their ability to do feats none of them could. They were ability users. Magicians. Raijin, the "god" of lightning, thunder, and storms, was one of them. His companion according to folklore, the Raiju, was actually his eldest son, Inazuma. Inazuma was the first Raiju and was the founder of the Inazuma Clan. This clan is part of a larger Japanese organization: the Torii Tribes, composed of around 45 clans that are descendants of the mutant kami. An organization recognized by the Japanese government, used as allies in times of great need. The most prolific of these is the Kamimura Clan in Kyoto, the "main clan" of the Torii Tribes and deemed the most powerful.

What is the mission of the Torii Tribes? To protect modern Japanese society in cooperation with the Japanese government. To preserve the bloodline of the kami. Or, in Junichi's father's words, to allow the Kamimura Clan to lord over the kami descendants and control them. To make the other, lesser-known clans serve the members of the Kamimura Clan. To remain the most powerful.

This is what Junichi was taught by his elders. The Inazuma Clan was practically subservient to the Kamimuras, with a tradition of "gifting" a raiju guardian to a member when they are of age. Junichi's uncles and aunties told him of this destiny that he must possibly fulfill as the first born of his family. After all, his father, Ichiro, was serving a Kamimura too. Not all first borns were "lucky" enough to be a raiju, however.

Junichi's mother, Hyejun, was no stranger to the supernatural. Her family were founders of the Ansan-based Dong Choon circus that had members with supernatural abilities, including Hyejun herself. She was against the plans of the Kamimura Clan and its medieval view on the treatment of fellow Torii Tribe members. Due to this, she had prayed that Junichi would not inherit his father's gifts. An unluckily powerless son would be better if he could be truly free to do what he desired.

Both Hyejun and Ichiro swore to protect their child, raiju or not. As a young infant and a child, Junichi was loved and taken care of by his parents. Ichiro spent all of his little free time with his son in the most normal way possible. He kept him away from clan and Torii Tribe activities unless it was necessary. Hyejun purposely placed him in normal school that did not cater to the Tribe, to the displeasure of many Inazuma clan members.

Junichi was a blissfully ignorant and happy child, who often kept to himself. He was not particularly stellar academically, but Hyejun saw a talent for gymnastics early on. Through the home videos she brought from Korea with her, toddler Junichi mimed the performers, tumbling and dancing to the best of his ability. Junichi would be allowed into Hyejun's gymnastics gym as a student at age 5, learning under the tutelage of his mother.

                                           獣

Junichi started showing signs of being a raiju at 6 years old. He had accidentally electrocuted another child while playing. The child did not suffer any major injuries and only needed to be taken to the emergency room. On that day, the Kamimura and Inazuma clans rejoiced to welcome the next raiju of the Torii Tribes. However, Ichiro and Hyejun were at a loss. Junichi's fate was sealed. Ichiro knew how tiring and demeaning the job was, being talked down to almost every day just because he was an animal, as the other clans would say. Hyejun didn't know what this meant for her, as an outsider to the clan. Did they expect her to serve the Tribes, too?

Both parents had to begrudgingly transfer him into a private academy overseen by the Tribes and the Japanese government similar to Ledrith, Tsukiyomi. As a child, Junichi still knew little of what this transfer meant, and was understandably only displeased at not being able to see the friends he already made. However, being a Torii Tribes member meant that Junichi would make friends quicker than most kids sent to Tsukiyomi. Torii kids, with their instincts similar to their adult counterparts, normally stuck together.

It didn't take long for Junichi to learn that children can be mean if they wanted to. His so-called friends who were fellow Torii children learned the ways of their elders, of their oppressive nature. As a result, Junichi was often teased by those belonging to the Kamimura clan and its allies, acting unkind and calling him their lap dog, their pet. It had gotten so bad that one of them brought a food bowl to school and asked him to eat from it. At times like those, Junichi terribly missed his parents, even if they'd drop by every single week just to see how he's doing.

(Junichi electrocuted three of his bullies out of anger and frustration. By accident, really. Fortunately, the outcome wasn't that bad. Ichiro was inappropriately delighted about this news after recieving it on one of their weekly visits.)

His experiences as a kid in Tsukiyomi were normal, despite the teasing, the electricity, and the occasional sensitivity to loud noises. He tuned out the condescending talk about hierarchy soon enough. Although he was a physically active kid, with new bruises and cuts after every session at the playground due to attempting somersaults and cartwheels, he only spoke whenever he was spoken to and would silently tag along with his Inazuma cousins. Learning the multiplication table and how to keep your abilities in check at the same time was no easy feat for any child, but Junichi found solace in the gyms of the school, and its small gymnastics program. He may have only been one of the two boys there, but it did not deter him from continuing to learn even while in boarding school. Admittedly, he'd miss Hyejun a little more whenever he's maneuvering on the bars.

Two years passed at Tsukiyomi and Junichi turned 8. He had better control of his abilities, and finally knew what a raiju meant, and why he was one. On a night in his summer break, he was home with his mother in Wakayama. Ichiro was away far north assisting his fellow Torii members, to create thunderstorms to offset the drought being experienced in the region. While at work in his animal form, Ichiro was wounded by hunters frequenting around the area. His wounds were apparently too severe that even his team's healers couldn't patch him up in time. In the middle of the storm they manufactured, Ichiro's body fell limp in the hands of his colleagues.

The news shook the Tribes. There had only been ten raijus existing at the time, both Ichiro and Junichi included. Most of the other raijus were aging, and weren't capable of performing their duties. The Tribes desperately needed to train the remaining ones immediately. After all, it wouldn't be long until the Kamimura children grew up to claim their guardian.

Meanwhile, Hyejun and Junichi both mourned at the loss of their loved one. It was hard for Junichi to grasp that he wouldn't be able to see his father again. That he wouldn't be able to laugh with him or hug him again. On the weeks that followed, Junichi lied in bed every single night hearing the muffled sobs of his mother through the thick walls of their quaint home. He'd check on her, pretending to not be able to sleep, but really just wanting his mother to stop crying by herself. From then on, it was the two of them against the world. Young Junichi was naive but determined to be with his mother at all times. To protect her like his parents protected him.

As fate would have it, Junichi was pried away from his mother's embrae in the middle of the night. He was taken by the Tribes to their headquarters in Kyoto. Upon waking up and realizing that he was not in his home anymore, Junichi feared for his mother's life. He couldn't lose another parent. He wailed to be released from the confines of the palace-like headquarters, filled with people who only looked at him with pity. Young Junichi was kept there for days, being provided for appropriately, until a familiar man came to retrieve him.

Kamimura Saito. A "friend" of his father. Junichi was subjected to training by this ruthless man. The man exhausted him day and night by asking him to let out electricity until he felt nothing else could come out. He would beat him repeatedly to upset him, to allow the animal inside him to be released. The bloodcurdling screams of pain and agony from a young Junichi echoed in the walls of the headquarters. If anybody there had a heart, they would have stopped Saito and his wicked ways.

But this was what was expected of him, Saito would tell Junichi. To suffer for the greater good. To bleed for everyone. To forget himself. This was his destiny. It was already decided for him. Junichi didn't understand. How could he, really? He was just a child. A child who lost a father. A child taken from his poor mother. Saito told him that he was worthless without the Tribe, worthless without the Kamimuras. That raijus were thoughtless animals that deserved to die for their masters. That his father deserved a cruel death. That his mother deserved to be alone.

That was the last straw. The tortuous training proved to be effective as he finally turned into his raiju form: a white tiger cub, on the day that Saito had scorched his back with a branding iron. Junichi cried out in agony softly; like distant thunder. Saito had imprinted a lightning bolt on his flank. A symbol of who he was, and who he is indebted to.

(As an adult, Junichi would hate looking at the mirror, especially when he catches a glimpse of the scar.)

Before he could be exploited any further, Hyejun came to his rescue. It took weeks for Hyejun to find her son again, due to the efforts of the Torii Tribes to hide him. She fought Saito with tenacity, using her fists that could absorb metals and gemstones. A mother's wrath is stronger than any weapon Saito could've attacked her with. Leaving Saito wounded enough so that he could not follow them, she took Junichi back to Wakayama, to the Inazuma clan.

Hyejun convinced the clan to let her take him to Korea. The elders of the Inazuma clan saw the damage young Junichi suffered from the hands of Saito. It reasonably angered them. Their ways of training raiju weren't this cruel. They decided that it was best if Junichi was taken to Korea for now, to let him study there instead of in Japan to be away from the Kamimuras until he could perform his duty.

                                      人

As soon as the decision was made, Hyejun immediately packed their bags. They left Wakayama for Ansan, her hometown, where Junichi met his grandparents and the  actual members of the Dong Choon circus he could only watch on TV. He found friendship with the circus performers and gymnasts his age, and was inspired to train with them immediately, despite reeling in from the effects of Saito's inhumane training. Seeing his friends perform for him on the Dong Choon stage gave him a sense of excitement. Of fullfillment. Of happiness. Junichi wanted to give that feeling to others too. From then on, he settled on his dream: to become a world-class gymnast on a stage like the Dong Choon circus.

However, he still needed to attend school. Hyejun was not going to let him forgo that training that she herself had as a high schooler in Ledrith. Although his future as a raiju was not something Hyejun wanted, it will be better for Junichi to master his abilities to use it for himself. A month after being trained by Saito and weeks after coming to South Korea, Junichi was enrolled into Ledrith's sister school for younger ability users, Nelore Academy at age 8.

Junichi really thought that life here would be easier, away from the grip of the Torii Tribes. He was surprised to discover the existence of color codes. While at Nelore, he paid it no mind, as his ability allowed him for a code higher than others, and he felt secure with the actual friends he has made. Bullies were the least of his problems, and he was wise enough to not put his nose into the business of other bullied kids as well.

At Nelore, he was a student who had average grades and control over his ability. He was never confident over the latter, especially when it had been associated with an unpleasant memory. It took him a while to realize that being a raiju was a part of him, and that he shared it with his late father and the others before him. This was an honor; not one Junichi wanted, but an honor nonetheless. He should be proud that he had something to share with his father. However, those words of Saito's continued to haunt him. With the help of positive reinforcement from his instructors, and moral support from his mother especially, Junichi was able to focus on improving parts of his abilities bit by bit. Electrokinesis was the easiest, as his young body cannot bare the pain of transforming.

What he really excelled in, however, was athletics. He knew he had his enhanced senses to thank for that. He often played basketball and football with his small group friends he made at school, but gymnastics was still his first and only love. By continuing his intense gymnastics training, which improved his strength & endurance, he was finally able to partially transform at age 10 by materializing his tail.

In the summer breaks Junichi had while at Nelore, he spent it by training with the Dong Choon circus. He has performed in a few shows over the years he has spent in South Korea, may it be tumbling through hoops or forming pyramids with his fellow performers. Hyejun was proud of him. Junichi was happy with his life.

However, a rude awakening came in the form of an Inazuma clan elder, Inazuma Kojiro, Junichi's great uncle, and a Kamimura, Kamimura Sae. Sae was a childhood "friend" so to speak, and never forgot Junichi after he electrocuted her with two others while at Tsukiyomi. On the summer before Junichi's final year at Nelore, it was decided by the Tribes that Junichi will be gifted to Sae. Kojiro came to train him to be fit to do so once he finishes high school, and brought Sae with him as ordered by the Tribe's elder council. Sae would be schooling with Junichi from now on to foster closeness between them for the near future, in Kojiro's words.

Junichi felt frustrated. All this time, he has been working towards a dream he could never reach due to being a raiju. He knew he had no choice but to train with Kojiro to further improve himself. Unsurprisingly, training with Kojiro proved useful. He wasn't as inhumane as Saito was, but was strict and disciplined. Junichi has him to thank for teaching him to partially transform his legs, feet, arms, and hands into his raiju form with some difficulty, as Kojiro is a fellow raiju himself.

Now in his third year at Ledrith, Junichi is more conscious about the world more than ever. The discrimination against color codes became much more apparent with duelling and combat classes as a staple in the institution, and Junichi could only watch as these "lower" code students were shunned from everyone else. It reminded him of himself; treated as a thing to be gifted by the Torii Tribes, powerless against adults ruling over him. He consciously condones all of these practices especially when it affects his friends, Sae an unlikely one in particular. He continues to do gymnastics, training with both Dong Choon and Kojiro in the summers, and studying as effectively as he can.

In the back of his mind, Junichi still feels a need to escape from the clutches of his so-called destiny as dictated by the Torii Tribes. Saito and the Tribes elders are probably just waiting for Junichi to graduate and take him back to Japan, his "rightful" place. Junichi just hopes he'll be strong enough to stand for what he wants once that day comes. And then, after that... he'll escape to Europe or the Americas with his mother. With Sae too, perhaps? Sounds about right. However, it's still too soon to think about that. Maybe he should be thinking on how to get "paw boy" off his list of nicknames first.

WHEN IN ROME DO AS THE ROMANS DO.

DAILY LIFE.
🗲 On school days, Junichi starts his day earlier than most students, waking up at 4:30AM. Once he has stretched properly and is no longer bleary eyed, he starts his scheduled workout routine for that day that would often focus on developing strength of his vital muscle groups, with the aid of his pull-up bars, his bed, or dumbbells in his dorm room. After an hour of that, he goes off to jog for a few laps in the sleepy school grounds while listening to music or an audiobook. He'd do long jumps and jump squats then, as to not wake his roommate up. At 6AM, after watching the sunrise anywhere on campus (sometimes, even hanging off a sturdy tree branch) and striking up a friendly conversation with Groundskeeper Byungsik near the stables, he'd head back to his room and shower. He'll brush up on his homework after he gets ready for school and during breakfast, leaving him about fifteen minutes to get to class on time. Junichi often succeeds, except when he's asked to do errands by the student council.

Junichi's Sundays start similarly. However, the latter part of his day will often focus on his gymnastics training for about 4 hours at most (with or without Ledrith's very small gymnastics club), hanging out with his friends whenever they ask him to, and being tutored by Sae.

🗲 In class, Junichi is quiet, only answering when he is asked. He knows he's not as smart as the other kids in the school, and needs to work even harder for his grades, so he often keeps himself focused and spends his time in class taking notes. When topics get particularly boring (mathematics, especially), he'd shock his nape awake with his hand, and will pretend to stretch. It works most of the time, and sometimes his friends will ask him to do the same to them.

(It may have back fired once, when Junichi was a first year. Still unaware of Professor Mae's use of party poppers, Junichi may have let out a stronger charge than he meant to for his roommate Hyungmin as the whole class almost jumped in surprise due to the volume of the pop. Junichi had to skip the rest of the period to take Hyungmin to the infirmary that day.)

Junichi still enjoys school despite mathematics, as he finds his classes for foreign languages, liberal arts & music, ability studies & application, and physical education & health interesting. He works hard in these classes because he really likes them. Although most may say that he is one of the best students in Professor Hak's PE class, Junichi feels that a handful of students are as talented or even more talented than him, even if his friends would beg to differ. He only gets competitive when they're grouped into teams. His teammates can count on him to do his best.

After school, Junichi dedicates his time to either reading on school grounds or perfecting routines in the gym depending on the day of the week, especially when he's particularly stressed.

🗲 In his free time, such as breaks from classes, Junichi will often hang out with his small group of friends, who are all members of committees under Ledrith's student council. Sae and Junichi are members of the council's Foreign Student Committee, tasked to welcome, address concerns, and help non-Koreans at Ledrith. Since the foreign student population in the school is small, Junichi will often be seen enjoying his free time with his friends by doing cartwheels, somersaults, various backflips, and handsprings on the grass, and pulling out the occasional card trick. It's not as good as his turning his hands into paws trick, but it does amuse people sometimes.

Whenever he gets time alone for himself, he often takes scenic walks around the campus to reflect & unwind.

DORM.
🗲 Junichi's side of the dorm he shares with Hyungmin mainly consists of a loft bed with a desk underneath, along with his comfortable chair and a few bean bags. Most of his storage is confined to cabinets provided in the dorm, and the shelves on the side of his desk. Junichi doesn't have a lot of stuff anyway, so some of his storage is shared with Hyungmin. A chin-up / pull-up bar is installed on the ceiling of their shared dorm room.

 TRIVIA.

🗲 Performing for others
🗲 Non-ability magic tricks
🗲 Staying physically fit
🗲 Animals, especially cats
🗲 Nature
🗲 Music (electronic, classical)
🗲 Action, teen films
🗲 Dry humor
🗲 Cold weather
🗲 Carbonated drinks
🗲 Fruits
🗲 Whole grain snacks

DISLIKES.

🗲 Discrimination (esp. codes)
🗲 Talking about his past
🗲 Unnecessarily rude people
🗲 Intruding
🗲 Messing up his routines
🗲 Sudden, loud noises
🗲 Smell of burnt food
🗲 Looking at mirrors (esp. whenever he's shirtless; his eyes unconsciously look at the spot where the lightning bolt scar is)

HABITS.

🗲 Maintaining good posture even while doing nothing. He often asks his friends to do the same whenver he catches them slouching.

🗲 Playing with his hands whenever he's nervous or having difficulty in deciding things. He'd usually clench and unclench his fist, or drum on a flat surface with his fingers.

🗲 Stretching (or pretending to) and letting out small charges of electricity whenever he's bored. Since he hates siting for long hours at a time, he'd often stretch his legs if there's enough legroom for it.

🗲 Bowing dramatically after performing his stunts and tricks for others, or when he just feels like being a little extra.

🗲 Doing pull-ups or push-ups whenever he wants to distract himself from thoughts he doesn't want to entertain.

🗲 Wiggling his ear whenever he hears a noise that interests him nearby.

🗲 Patting others on the back, the arm, or the head to show affection.

FEARS.

🗲 Losing his mother or his friends to death. He doesn't mind dying himself, however. Everyone is scared of dying, but Junichi would prefer to not see his family or friends die.

🗲 Being burned by any metal, solid or molten. It's an irrational fear he developed due to the trauma it had caused by Saito when he was little.

🗲 Not being able to live out his dreams. Junichi doesn't know what he'll end up doing if he doesn't reach it. He'd probably be spending his life wondering where everything went wrong.

TRIVIA.

🗲 Junichi smiles quite often.  He swears only when he's mad, or when he's scared / surprised.

🗲 Junichi has a dry, almost self-deprecating sense of humor, which he rarely ever uses. It's a coping mechanism, really. However, this makes it hard for others to know if he's really serious or not.

🗲 His mother, Hyejun, was the founding president of Ledrith's gymnastics club.

🗲 Junichi is neutral with regards to duelling. He knows it's a good way to practice one's skills, but he can't help but hate the discrimination that accompanies it. He casually joins Baek Jin's team when other members cannot participate. His physical prowess and proficiency in using his abilities has helped them win a couple of times.

🗲 Yujing wants to make Junichi the next Foreign Students Committee president, but Junichi thinks Sae is more suited for the job. He likes interacting with the students more than doing the paperwork.

🗲 Junichi would marry fizzy drinks if he could. He drinks two cans on the daily, much to the displeasure of his stomach. He still tries to drink tons of water, but he just can't help it. Junichi's favorite drinks are Calpis, cola, & ginger ale.

🗲 Aside from gymnastics, Junichi has a talent for sleight of hand tricks, and other tricks that normal humans may refer to as magic. He also likes juggling and doing card tricks.

🗲 Junichi does dance because it is a part of his sport, and they dance in Dong Choon for some performances. He sings for fun, mostly, but he thinks his friends are a lot better in that department.

🗲 As it is required of him, Junichi has a higher level of pain tolerance than normal people, only thanks to Kojiro's training.

🗲 He always keeps spare clothes and shoes with him at all times. Transforming means having to rip those clothes and shoes apart, and he'd hate to make Hyejun buy him new ones every time. He has a dedicated hole for his tail on his pants with a dedicated zipper. Underneath his pants are his trusty pair of gym shorts, stretchy enough to withstand the increased muscle mass of his legs when he partially transforms.

🗲 Junichi often offers to charge other people's electronic devices. He has only broken a device twice throughout the hundreds he has charged.

🗲 Junichi's cooking skills are mediocre at best. His eating skills, however, are top notch. He likes eggs because they're versatile and never starts his day without some.

🗲 Regarding the "paw boy" accident: he was unable to write with his paws for one whole week and needed friends to write for him. It's hard not to have opposable thumbs.

RELATIONS.

FAMILY.

🗲 Mother | Dong Hyejun (40) | 100%

   Moon Chaewon
xx Matter absorption

If there is a person that Junichi loves the most in the universe, it has to be his mother Hyejun. As a Ledrith student in her earlier years, Hyejun was able to discover herself within the campus, and wanted Junichi to experience the same. Of course, it had been before the height of discrimination among codes. Although Junichi has grown up to be a capable young man, Hyejun is firm in her resolve to protect him no matter what. It's with his mother where Junichi feels the most secure, where he can't keep his feelings hidden. They treat each other like equals, like friends. It's probably why they adore each other so much.

🗲"Uncle" | Inazuma Kojiro (64) | 70%

    Hiroshi Abe
xx Raiju Physiology

Strong, strict, and disciplined to a T, Kojiro may be old, but he does not look old at all. He's the youngest cousin of Ichiro's father, which technically makes him Junichi's grand uncle, but he doesn't really like being reminded of his age. Acting as a trainer and an almost father like figure to Junichi, Kojiro has the tough love act down pat. He just wants to see Junichi grow up to be the best raiju the Torii Tribes has set their eyes on. Meanwhile, Junichi just wants to know if he'll age as gracefully as him.

FRIENDS/CLASSMATES.

🗲 Kamimura Sae (16) | 91%

    Yabuki Nako xx Self-duplication

If you told 9-year old bratty Sae that she won't imagine life without the kid who literally shocked her when she was still the tallest in her class, she and her clones would have trouble believing you. And for good reason, too. The whole "Inazumas are mindless beasts so we should treat them like dirt" thing is like a rite of passage in the Torii Tribes, and Sae was naive enough to be consumed by that. Coming to Korea was sobering, however, as she came to realize that what her old man Saito has been preaching isn't just stupid. It was wrongJunichi was unfortunate enough to suffer under it.

Admittedly, present Sae is still a little bratty and childish, but she has grown up to be a kinder, happier, and more carefree person. She thinks Junichi gifted her that. Junichi has always made her feel like she belonged here, always ready to listen to her, making sure that she feels safe and included. Both of them have a deep affection for each other that they don't dare say, hiding in between the lines of words of encouragement and their shared thoughts whenever they hang out.  Junichi hopes he'll learn enough from Sae's highly informative tutoring sessions so that they can graduate and chase their dreams somewhere else—together. (Shh, don't let Hyungmin know he said that.) Torii Tribes be damned.

🗲 Noh Hyungmin (16) | 90%

    Jung Chanwoo
xx Dog Physiology

People will be surprised to know that Hyungmin is an officer at the school's council because of his rowdy, naughty, happy-go-lucky nature, like the embodiment of an always excited puppy. His fondness of other people has always made Junichi drawn to him, even during their Nelore days. Since entering Ledrith, Hyungmin has been Junichi's ride or die, being dubbed as animal twins, even though tigers aren't clearly that close to dogs. It's probably because they've been joined at the hip from the start as roommates and get along incredibly well. Junichi can let his guard down around Hyungmin, often goofing off on the grass as they share mundane thoughts and laugh about shared memories. Hyungmin thinks he's lucky to have somebody be that patient to him, no matter how many times he almost burnt the dorm room to a crisp after attempts to grill squid. Junichi and Hyungmin love each other a lot and are both willing to exhaust their patience and their boundless energy for each other.

🗲 Lu Yujing (19) | 80%

   Jiang Zhenyu xx Elasticity

Lu Yujing, former president of the gymnastics club, and now the visual president of the Foreign Students Committee. Boys and girls want to be with her, Junichi himself included.  It took some encouraging for Junichi to confess to her in his second year, to only be told that she just really likes him as a younger brother. Despite Junichi's heartbreak, they've made quite the friendship. Both Yujing and Junichi are from a family of circus performers, and share an admiration for the art form. Yujing often looks out for him and comes to his aid with snacks or notes from class, never too shy to show how much she's fond and protective of him. Junichi's very appreciative of her and treats her like family, something admittedly weird for an ex-crush. However, he just hopes she won't forget him once she finally graduates from Ledrith and travels the world again with her family circus.

🗲 Miyuki Rantaro (16) | 60%

    Takata Mashiho xx Precognition

It wouldn't be a surprise for Rantaro and Junichi to be friends, given how they just want to have a normal, peaceful school life at Ledrith. To Junichi, it's good to have someone like Rantaro who doesn't care about the Torii Tribes, or anything else for that matter. He's honest & genuine, and is akin to a surprise egg in Junichi's eyes since he just doesn't know what silly antics Rantaro will do or drag him into. Fortunately for Rantaro, Junichi likes surprises, and values him greatly as a friend and a classmate. And an occasional aid to Junichi's difficulty of deciding between his soda for the day.

🗲 Lee Mina (14) | 50%

    Jang Wonyoung xx Healing

There's just this aura of innocence and happiness around Mina that Junichi can't help but admire. As someone who lets his heart decide more than his head, Junichi sees a lot of similarities between him and Mina. They met on one of Junichi's casual strolls around Ledrith, where he bumped into Mina who was too preoccupied with the flora and fauna to notice the time. Mina sees Junichi as some kind of fairy godfather or knight in shining armor; someone who's always there to help. Junichi is more than happy to be that for her.

🗲 Son Hwayoung (15) | 40%

    Im Dayoung xx Siren Song

Junichi often thinks that maybe he should be more like Hwayoung, ready to face the world with her strong opinions on the codes and her perfectly manicured nails. He often refers to her as the leader of this so-called revolution, and through interactions in class & working on projects together, Hwayoung took Junichi under her wing, glad that someone like him felt so strongly about this matter. Junichi has only seen her unguarded occasionally, and respectfully keeps his distance because he thinks he'd do that for himself if he were her.

🗲 Wang Seolhyun (18) | 10%

    Seo Soojin xx Telepathy

According to Sae, Junichi should care less about what other people think, but he knows that it isn't an easy feat for Seolhyun. He can't help but imagine how hard she must have it, to hear thoughts from hundreds of students on the daily. They've only interacted a few times, mostly with Rantaro. In the back of Junichi's head, he swears he must've heard Seolhyun's voice a couple of times to "...just pick the ginger ale from the vending machine and be done with it. You're hogging the line."

PROFESSORS/STAFF.

🗲 Ae Byungsik | 70%

Junichi has always been drawn to people like Byungsik, warm and compassionate. It's nice to meet other people who see animals as creatures to be respected, something Junichi didn't see much growing up. Through his daily jogs, talking to Byungsik almost every day, Junichi has learned a lot of things from him, from wise advice regarding girls & school, to Byungsik's thoughts on big cats, daisies, and bubble tea. Byungsik thinks Junichi is a nice kid who can be trusted. He may have overshared to Junichi a little too much on several occasions, but to Byungsik, a little more knowledge for Junichi can't possibly hurt.

🗲 Hak Sangdong | 60%

Sangdong always jokes that Junichi is probably his long lost brother, as a fellow electric ability user. (Junichi often asks him to reconsider that choice of his for good reason.)  The boy admires Sangdong's passion for coaching and teaching, despite his mischievous nature. Their relationship is akin to that of a coach and an athlete, as Sangdong oversees the athletic clubs at Ledrith. Sangdong is amazed at how hardworking and talented Junichi is, and is always excited for him to better himself.

ENEMIES/RIVALS.

🗲 Baek Jin (17) | 70%

    Lee Hangyul xx Pathokinesis

The smiley gymnastics club president, Jin isn't really an enemy in Junichi's eyes. They're quite friendly outside of the gym, conversing whenever they get the chance about school woes and how hard training has been for the two of them. However, during gymnastics club sessions, Jin always tries to outdo Junichi and encourages him to do the same. Maybe Jin has used his ability on Junichi several times to make him more competitive. Jin isn't really the most ethical student at Ledrith, after all. Nonetheless, Junichi knows that the friendly rivalry between them is healthy as two of the best students of the gymnastics club.

🗲 Chae Huicheol (18) | 0%

    Park Jihoon xx Explosion

To be honest, Junichi doesn't know much about him, except from his fire power and high and mighty attitude. Junichi is against judging others before truly understanding them, but in the face of someone who stands against his ideals of equality among codes, he's willing to be a hypocrite. Junichi isn't that close-minded to not give him a chance, though.

 QUOTES.

🗲 [ clears throat; in a soft singing voice ] "Welcome to Ledrith! welcome, welcome, welcome, welcome, welcome, welcome, welcome, welcome to Ledrith!" [ jazz hands ]

🗲 "If you ever stop by Ansan in the summer, don't forget to watch us at Dong Choon!"

🗲 "Need a charge?"

🗲 "So... should I take the cherry coke or the regular coke? Ugh. Why is this so difficult?"

🗲 "You can always stop by the council room if you need me. Or... just find me on the grass. I can show you my new routine, if you'd like. I won't mind! Just ask."

🗲 "I think your first friend should always be yourself. Even if you don't like yourself very much."

🗲 "Hey, look at me. We got this. You got this."

🗲 "If Sae and I can still be friends after everything we went through, I feel like everybody else can too. You just have to see what's good in people and believe in that. People can surprise you."

🗲 "No one deserves to be treated like dirt for being born with things they did not choose."

🗲 "I'm a mindless monster? Look at who's talking."

🗲 "Sorry about that. Must be the animal in me."

🗲 "I know I should listen to my own advice but... I can't help it. There's always this tiny voice at the back of my head telling me all my flaws on repeat."

🗲 "Huh. Maybe I'm as useless as they say I am."

THEY ARE ABLE BECAUSE THEY THINK THEY ARE ABLE.
THE ABILITY.

ABILITY. Raiju Physiology

BACKUP. Tiger Physiology (Nakajima Atsushi; Bungou Stray Dogs)

CODE.         🗲

THE POWER.
The power to transform into and use the abilities of a Raiju, a "mythical" creature of Japanese folklore. The Raiju is a large animal that possess the abilities of regular wolves or tigers. However, they are able to generate & control electricity. Applications of this ability include enhanced physical prowess, enhanced senses, shapeshifting (tiger), and electrokinesis.

[BACKUP: The ability to transform into and use the abilities of a white tiger. Applications of this ability would only include enhanced physical prowess, enhanced senses, and shapeshifting (tiger). If you guys happen to choose this over the first one, just know that Junichi won't be able to regenerate limbs like Atsushi can.]

STRENGTHS.

Enhanced physical prowess. Junichi is able to utilize enhanced strength, speed, and bite force akin to a tiger when he is in his partially transformed form (i.e. only his arms, hands, legs, or feet transformed) or fully transformed form. He is able to jump from and to great , inhuman heights to attack without obtaining any physical injury.

Enhanced senses. Junichi has a naturally heightened sense of hearing, touch, and vision even in his human form. Minute hairs on specialized areas of his body, such as his face, near his hands, and near his feet act similarly as whiskers. He is able to see in the dark six times more easily than humans can. His hearing is within a wider range compared to that of humans, being able to hear sounds up to 60 Hz. This allows him to hear the slightest of movements of enemies nearby.

Tiger Shapeshifting. Junichi's raiju form is a large, white tiger, appearing taller than his human form (200 cm). At present, Junichi can only transform parts of his body (most often his  hands, arms, legs, and feet) into his raiju form, and can spurt out his large, powerful tail which he often uses to maintain balance when jumping great heights. During his first and only full transformation was when he was eight years old, Junichi maintained the ability to understand human language. His roar is akin to the sound of thunder.

Electrokinesis. Junichi's most mastered skill yet. He is able to produce electricity with a white to blue hue, mainly from his hands. He can throw balls of lightning from his hands, produce a continous stream of lightning, or coat his fists with lightning to attack an enemy. He has shown the ability to combine these attacks with his partially transformed form. This ability makes him immune to electric attacks.

WEAKNESSES/LIMITATIONS.

Enhanced physical prowess. Junichi is yet to utilize this application to its full potential due to his inability to fully transform into his raiju form. He cannot use this ability without partially or fully transforming. Thus, in his human form, he only depends on his own physical ability.

Enhanced senses. Heightened senses make him highly sensitive to loud sounds at especially high frequencies. If his enemies have normal to slightly impaired human hearing, they cannot be affected by such sounds that only he can hear. Loud sounds can disorient him and immobilize him for a while. When his eyes use its enhanced ability, he is only able to focus on objects which are far away. This makes him highly susceptible to close range attacks.

Tiger Shapeshifting. Although raijuus like him can grow up to 300 cm, Junichi is still young and has not yet developed such heights. Even after learning to partially shapeshift, both partial and full transformations remain to be extremely painful and physically draining, especially full transformations. The pain is akin to his skin being ripped off from the muscle underneath & his bones and muscles breaking and tearing before coming together again. This unsurprisingly exhausts him; the bigger the limb he transforms, the more exhausted he becomes. This leads to fainting spells, especially when transforming more than one limb at a time. Thus, Junichi must continously work to improve his pain tolerance and stamina. When Junichi is wounded in his fully transformed raiju form, he cannot physically return to his human form until he has completely recovered. To transform back into his fully human form is as painful and physically dranining.

Electrokinesis. Junichi is yet to learn to coat his entire body with electricity, a technique required for raijus like him. He cannot generate electricity from other parts of his body except from his hands. Thus, it may be difficult for him to attack away from his physical reach, like from behind. Moreover, he cannot manipulate electricity coming from other sources. He can only manipulate his own. Like all abilities, Junichi's generation of electricity is limited to how good his physical and mental condition is. He may not be able to generate electricity whenever he's very sick, and may produce too much whenever he's angry or threatened.

MENTAL/PHYSICAL HEALTH. Junichi is mentally sound, despite his occasional pessimism and issues on self-worth. He's aware of how detrimental it is to keep it all in, and that's why he's trying to open up to others a little more. As an aspiring gymnast, Junichi is very healthy and is in excellent shape.

THE INTERVIEW.

Junichi, after waiting for at least half an hour in a long line of students, was finally being ushered past large, ornate doors, into a spacious room. There are navy colored, golden trimmed curtains framing massively huge windows that overlook one of Ledrith's impressive gardens. He knows he's been here for years, but sights like these never fail to amaze him.

While the room is bright with natural light, a certain unnatural glow is evident. As the large doors slam shut behind Junichi, they quickly find themselves face to face with a masked figure seated at a mahogany desk. For some reason, Junichi feels as if he knows this person, but he can't tell for sure.

The masked figure, twirling a pen in their right hand with a small stack of papers in front of them, motions for Junichi to take a seat. Junichi offers them a respectful yet tight-lipped smile as he walks casually to the chair. He hopes he's hiding his nervousness under this figure's gaze well enough to not be noticed.

It doesn't help that their gaze feels like one from a collective now that he's sitting right in front of them. One from a tough crowd. Unnerving. If only it was socially acceptable to juggle in this office. Junichi unclenches and clenches the hand on his lap.

Seemingly amused, the masked figure clears their throat.

"Shall we begin?"

Junichi still isn't quite sure why Ledrith is holding student interviews in the first place. However, seeing as there is no choice anyways, Junichi nods.

Please introduce yourself. Your age, your likes, your dislikes. Something random? Nevertheless, be as long, or as short as you'd like. ]

🗲 Junichi's smile widens, more than for himself rather than for the figure in front of him. "I'm 16-year old Inazuma Junichi, a third year student here at Ledrith. It's very nice to meet you." He bows, internally thinking of what to say next. "My surname means lightning in Japanese," he says when he finally faces them, smile still in place. "I think that's pretty interesting. My folks run the Dong Choon circus in Ansan."

What is your personal opinion about Ledrith? Good, bad... Maybe you don't care at all and just want this interview to end. I won't judge you. ]

🗲 "Well, this is certainly a polarizing place..." Junichi nods. "I happen to like it here, somewhat. I've managed to make it feel a little less like prison and more like home with friends. However, I know others aren't so lucky." Junichi looks down wistfully.

How are your classes, your teachers, your friends, or your classmates? How do you feel about them? ]

🗲 Junichi starts drumming with the fingers on his lap. Much to think aboutHe looks back at the masked figure before answering. "Ledrith's classes are quite good, but then again, I haven't been to any other ability high school." The boy laughs sheepishly. "I only really like the more physical classes, though, and the arts as well. My classmates... aren't that different from those at Nelore. I know it's impossible to really get along with everyone in my class, but I think we're good. We're all a little troubled." Junichi's voice softens at that last bit as he shrugs. That needed to be said, right? He doesn't know what this person thinks of teenagers, but he hopes they aren't the type to invalidate their struggles.  "It's just a matter of finding others who share the same troubles as you, I guess? That's how I found my few close friends."The polite smile on Junichi's face softens.

What do you wish to accomplish or do during your time at Ledrith? Anything in particular? Or is it just to survive the rest of your 'high school' career, despite it's... unorthodoxy. ]

🗲 "My folks wanted me to be here so I can get stronger." Strong enough to serve under ungrateful, ruthless people like Saito. That's what his clan is planning for him. To be honest, all Junichi wants is to become strong enough to run away. To protect his family. His friends. Junichi could only dream of that now, but he hopes he can make it a reality soon enough. He nods to himself. "I'm safer here than out there. Besides, Ledrith is a place to discover one's self, one's strengths."His mother's words echo in his mind. "I don't like him that much yet, but I know he's trying to become better everyday. A better gymnast. A better person."

What do you want to accomplish or do after you graduate from Ledrith? There are many options you can take. ]

🗲 "...I know." The boy nods. His thoughts wander to the Tribes, to Japan and the majority of its clueless citizens"My late father served for the government in Japan." Junichi hesitates to continue under the presence of this masked person. They could be from the Tribes for all Junichi knows. "Right now... I don't really have anything in particular in mind?" A lie. He isn't ready to stand firm for his dreams yet. Classic coward move. "I'll think about it when I'm in my fifth year."

[ Do you mind describing your ability to me? In your own words, not just what's written here in your profile. ]

🗲 "Oh. The profile. Right." Junichi almost forgot about that. "Um..." he trails off, closing his eyes as he wills his hand to transform into a paw on his lap. The sound of crackling echoes in the room as bluish wisps of pure electrical energy engulf his hand, cloaking the transformation. Junichi mentally hisses at the pain. It never goes away. "...do you happen to know what a Pokemon is?" The boy looks at the masked figure expectantly. They nod, surprisingly. Junichi shows them his paw with a relieved grin. Less talking for him, then. "I'm a non-pocket sized monster that also happens to be a 16-year old. A tiger, specifically. An electric type tiger." He adds, making bluish lightning dance around the pads of his paw. It wasn't an eloquent explanation, but Junichi hopes its good enough.

Be as honest or dishonest with me here. How much do you want to be here, at Ledrith. I assume that either way, you understand why you're here. ]

🗲 "I want to be here." Junichi says immediately, resolutely. His eyes burn with determination, the claws of the paw on his lap threatening to come out. "Anywhere that's not Japan is good for me right now." Tribes member or not, Junichi will say that much.

Now that should be all. Unless you have anything else you'd like to add, you may leave. ]

🗲 All the tension in Junichi's body dissipates. He promptly stands up, his hands to his side as he bows formally.  "Thank you very much for having me," he says. Junichi wastes no time and walks to the door from which he came, sparing the windows a lingering look before he steps out of the room, the doors closing behind him.

WE LOVE BECAUSE IT IS THE ONLY TRUE ADVENTURE.
THE LOVER.

LOVE INTEREST. Open! It'll also be fine for him to not have one. Sae might like that a lot lol

IDEAL TYPE. Since he's very purpose-driven, always wanting to help in any sort of way, Junichi would like someone who wants to be taken care of. Or maybe someone he percieves to need his care even if they themselves aren't aware. Someone who's ready to accept his flaws and reassure him. Someone who can introduce to him a new perspective on things.

THE LOVE STORY.

LOVE STORY/RELATIONSHIP.

🗲 Since he has had an experience in dealing with a crush while at Ledrith (brotherzoned(?) by Lu Yujing herself), he'd probably be way more cautious about this one this time. He'll need a lot of support from friends before doing anything else.

🗲 Junichi may be a little cheesier than the average person due to the amount of teen flicks he's consumed over the years. However, he isn't that gutsy to do some grand gesture of love. A letter here and there, perhaps? He'll certainly have a hard time opening up to them at first, but maybe they have a quality that just makes Junichi comfortable enough to speak his mind.

QUESTIONS // CONCERNS.

🗲 I've made creative liberties throughout this app, like the Torii Tribes, Tsukiyomi Academy, the whole gymnastics club at Ledrith, the Foreign Students Committee, and even the existence of a student council. I hope all of these are okay with you two.

🗲 Junichi's ability is a little op, to be honest lol. I have tried to balance it out with his mediocre mastery of some components of his ability. I have also made it as a pretty big deal in his backstory. Please tell me what you think of his ability and if there are things you wish to change about it! Or if you want to change it entirely ; u ;

COMMENTS.

This is such an interesting plot! Love how dedicated you guys are with the short character blurbs on the staff & students.   I am excited to see what you guys have in store for us. I hope you guys liked soft gymnastics boy Junichi and his friends!
