birthname. xerxes ateria
nicknames.

— xerx / basically pronounced as 'zerk', this is a nickname only those he deems friends can call him. after all, it would be rude to call a royal prince anything less than his name.

birthdate. december 17th (18)
class. owl

faceclaim. jeon wonwoo of svt
appearance.

— sharp features all around, xerxes is intimidating once looked upon. his hair remains black, just as his eyes. while usually stoic and emotionless, he shows a plethora of expressions once enrolled at the academy.

— he does have a gnarly scar on his left arm, extending from his outside bicep to the top of his inner forearm. this was inflicted upon by his father during practice. neither made a big deal of it - xerxes simply was too weak to block or dodge the attack, resulting in the lasting scar. it is usually covered anyways.

style.

— he wears outrageously styled clothing designed for his royal bloodline. it was made to ensure he sticks out and people know he is the prince of argilia. while at the academy, he wears the academy uniform, making no alterations to it. though he does wear the royal robe to go along with the uniform. it is purple, just as the argilia color scheme. (think dimitri uniform but purple)

persoNality.

(+) courageous, dedicated, persistent (-) ignorant, brash, impulsive

— enter xerxes ateria, the crown prince of argilia. while his nation boasts superiority in fighting, he is no exception. xerxes possesses immense talent in giving commands, carrying through with them, and finding his way around a battlefield. an infamous stoic expression is always present when he is in his 'prince mode.' he will use any means necessary to gain the win. after all, to be the prince of argilia comes with the great responsibility of ruling a fierce nation. if he were to falter - to be seen as weak, he would have no right to the throne. while he is very skilled in anything regarding fights, outside of the battlefield xerxes is a completely different person.

— when not wielding a weapon or flinging fire spells to and fro, xerxes is a complete dunce when it comes to actual studies. even when he studies, he is unable to understand what is going on. though he is seen as a fierce prince, he is actually just bad at anything else besides fighting. while loud is in his nature, he has a lack of common sense. many find it endearing how useless xerxes is outside of battle. if possible, he would rush through everything through sheer force. however, that is highly unplausible. hence, while he was sent to grecina. honestly, you'd think he was a completely different person.

— appearing to be a conceited boy, he is actually just proud of his nation to the point of always bragging about it. he knows to be king of such a great nation carries immense responsibility. not only that, but he was born as the only magic user of the royal line - ever. adding this feat onto the pressure of becoming king, xerxes feels he pales in comparison to his ancestors. sure, he is a great fighter, but he fails at all else. this is something he is self-conscious about as he feels he is unfit to rule argilia as he is now (though many also see him as an amazing future king).

background.

— born of the king of argilia and a recently conquered nation's princess, xerxes was born as the first and only son to rowen ateria. while he never met his mother, xerxes are doted on by the maids of the castle. he spent his entire youth being taught how to wield various weapons. it was during this time, he discovered his skill in magic. the ateria family was known for strong warriors, but never once was one born a magic user - until xerxes. famed as the first magic prince, he grew accustom to the praise he received.

— never having made friends due to his strict lessons, xerxes does not understand the difference between talking to a subordinate or talking to a friend. he speaks to all at arms length and does not know how to get close to someone. he was always taught to be wary of who he grows close with, as they could easily betray him. thus he only had one friend in a child of the guards. even then, he was cautious with them, despite knowing they would grow to serve him. there is a small part of xerxes that wishes he was not born with all these responsibilities and merely be a normal child who need not have so much pressure riding on them.

— he came to grecina on his own free will, having his own father endorse him. he felt he should attend grecina as he is the future king of argilia and it is his duty to make contact with children of the other nations. he also wished to attend as he saw it beneficial to advancing his magic knowledge since he learned all he could from the handful of mages in argilia. so coming to grecina was seen as beneficial to all. though he secretly wishes he could make some lifelong friends as well.

fun facts.

— his specialty is fire magic, if he had to choose a weapon, it would be an axe as he values brute force
— his grades from royal tutors tend to be d's, but as they feared the wrath of king rowen, they gave xerxes b's
— has never cooked, cleaned, or done laundry before
— due to his incompetence, cooking and cleaning duty tends to run late when assigned to him, so sorry to whoever ends up being his partner that day
— he hates eating vegetables and always prefers meals that have meat in them
— shields? no way. why need shields when your armor is suited for the same thing
— he is self-conscious about his scar so he hides it all the time
— cares deeply for his country to a fault
— fear of ghosts because they are something he cannot physcially touch or fight, there's no chance of winning against them
— horrible story-teller because he uses too many hand signals, please do not ask him to do so
— decent at dancing simply due to a royal tutor teaching him before sending him off for grecina (they claimed it was a necessity)
— please excuse how bad he is at talking to people his own age, he only won the class election because he is prince of argilia and they feared what his dad would do
— his father attended grecina when he was younger and was head of the tiger class
— animals never seem to like him, if he reaches for them, they tend to attack or lunge at him even though he is never hostile towards them (he just wants to pet them pls)
— many think since he's a prince, he's charismatic but no, he's the prince of a nation knowing for fighting so he at talking and thus, scares people away because they think he's being rude (he just lacks manners)
— will probably need extra tutoring in studies so that is where he spends his free time
— if not in tutoring, he will probably be at the training grounds, practicing on controling his fire magic better
— on days off, he would go into town to buy supplies for school, write letters to his father, or enjoy a good, hearty meal in the cafeteria. i mean, he wouldn't get in trouble for slacking off sometimes, right? (he'd get his kicked for slacking off if he were in argilia, so gotta make the most of it)

rElAtionship.

— father : rowen ateria / king of argilia / strict, harsh, monotonous, loyal / 4 out of 5

xerxes has learned a lot from his father and thus, he greatly respects him both as a parent and as the king. rowen is proud of his son for being a magic user and a great fighter. while rowen is hard on his son, he only wishes for him to improve and become a better king than he ever was. rowen believes xerxes' endearing personality to be a nuisance and gets after his son for showing weakness in front of others.

so, why did you enroll in the class you're in?

— "to improve my magic. why else?" he scoffed before crossing his arms. "as the first magic user of the ateria name, it is my duty to become the best."

mhm. mhm. how would learning these skills help you and your goals?

— "to rule my country better? we never had someone capable of using magic, so think of the possibilites it opens up now. offensive magic is far superior to wielding weapons, so that means i am far superior and it is my duty to expand argilia's control."

i see. so would you say you're loyal to your nation, or is there something more important to you than 'loyalty'?

— "the argilia empire will stand strong with me as the king. there is nothing more important to me than that. my loyalty is for argilia and argilia alone."

interesting. let's say a war were to happen, would you side with your nation? or perhaps the friends you make along the way?

— "i would be leading my nation, of course. however, there need not be a war between argilia and any other country. we have docile agreements with pysulia and seteris, so, unless they were to target us first, we need not pursue them."
