vincent zhang
"vincent zhang? of course, i've heard about vincent zhang! he's the soccer team captain, right? oh, isn't he just so dreamy? he looks like he's straight out of a 90s film sometimes, don't you agree? his smile's so big and cute and he's so social! he can literally make friends out of everybody. well, everyone except park seoham. i think he's the only person vincent genuinely hates to be honest. but, then again, vincent doesn't hate a lot of people. i guess that comes with his nature. he just seems so happy all the time and he's super focused on the field. ooh, when you see that sweat glistening off of his skin when he kicks that ball and the sun's just about to set ... ugh. what a man. god, i wish he noticed me. oh my god, he just looked at me. you don't think he heard me right. is he still looking? oh my god, he is! should i turn around one last time just to check? i should? okay, okay ... oh my god, he winked at me! oh, what a heartthrob! sigh. his partner's gonna be so lucky. by the way, do you know who's his partner? park seoham? as in, basketball team captain park seoham, sworn enemy of vincent zhang? oh, no. well, it looks like this year just got a lot more interesting." - anonymous female classmate.

full namevincent zhang gwan, 张关
nickname
beanie, 비니 was originally just supposed to be vinny but because there's really no 'v' sound in korean, it got lost in translation and became 'beanie'. used by friends at school and teammates but not very often unless it's as a joke.
captain,  선장 team captain of the soccer team. used by the other teammates on and off the field. also the label he's known by around school. he prides himself on it but remembers to stay humble as to not let it go to his head. it's also used menancingly by seoham himself but the way he says it, it's dripping with sarcasm. vincent wants to punch him in his face whenever he uses that term and maybe smooch him who knows??

THE ATHLETE, THE PROTECTOR, THE MEDIATOR
AQUARIUS, GRYFFINDOR, ESFJ
student athlete, always on that grind people usually know the two types of vincent zhang. there's people person vincent, the average vincent who's always making new friends and makes sure everyone is included. then there's team captain vincent, who wouldn't hesitate to mow you down if you're on the other side. he considers his team his family and wouldn't hesitate to do anything for them if they're not in the wrong, including arguing to the ref to protest a bad call. the pressure of excelling as an athlete is already exhausting enough; when you add being responsible for a bunch of boys who are the same age as you and having to keep them in line so that they won't get red cards, it could be exhausting. vincent was never one to complain so he just represses it and accepts it as one of the many things he must do as a captain.

respect women you lil bastards vincent is never one to shy away for standing up for others, especially women. and he's not doing it to get extra brownie points for being a 'nice guy'. he's doing it because the world's a tough place for girls like his sister and his mom and he won't have any disrespect to women get away right under his nose. it's a personal issue to himself since when he grew up, he had to watch his sister grow up to. he doesn't even blame her when she's mad at him simply for not understanding cause he's a man - he can only hear her out. some people want to give him credit and praise him for being such a great man but to him, it's just being a decent human being. and, even though some of his guy friends give him flack for it, he considers himself an intersectional feminist, a term he learned from his sister, to make sure that everyone is included.

woah, no need to fight guys! now, this is where vincent gets a little bit hypcritical. his testerone-filled man brain automatically jumps to violence when confronted with every aggressive and hostile conflict that arises, especially in matches where everything is left on the field including a man's sympathy, but he's also the first one to try to placate a situation that could end badly for both parties. he wants to practice what he preaches and not become so contradictory with himself but sometimes, he acts on his thoughts before actually thinking them through. off the field, it's much more easier to do so. in simple situations, he's the one that a lot of people come to for settling a conflict. he puts both parties in thought but tries to not be biased. in more conflict situations, such as with relationships and personal issues, it's harder but he manages to find a way. it's exhausting sometimes but it's worth it to see peace be restored back to the classroom.

push it to the limit vincent will never admit to being a perfectionist. no matter how many bruises he gets from pushing himself in practices or matches, no matter how sore his legs may be after running an extra mile, no matter how strict his diet becomes to prepare for the soccer season, he just doesn't like to call himself one. to him, it's people like kanye who throw a tiny tantrum over every small mistake that he calls perfectionists. deep down, however, vincent knows that most people are much more lenient and carefree when it comes to changes of plans. he wishes that he could recognize this fault and try to change it but he denies it since he considers it one of the many traits a team captain must have to make their team great. it's exhausting but someone's gotta take the job.

no time for myself being a social butterfly comes with its pros and cons. pro: make new friends, meet a lot of people, get invited to all the parties, and have a reputation for being a genuinely nice person. cons, and there's only really one: you never have time by yourself. inside of school, vincent can't have one minute to himself without someone going up to him and saying 'hi'. and even outside of school, he lives in fear that someone will spot him and try to start a conversation. now, don't get him wrong, he loves talking to people and having conversations but it comes to a point where vincent seriously curses a younger version of himself for being so nice and talkative and having to please every single person that crosses his path. the only time he could find peace and quiet is at home, in his room, blasting celine dion in his headphones as he attempts to do his homework.

life story
(tw: mentions of xenophobia)
vincent zhang's life in hong kong was pretty average for a working class kid. living in a small apartment fit for three people and his mother working two jobs to provide for the family, he accepted it as a normal part of life. his mother constantly ignored the absence of his father and always focused on her two children. since he was the older twin, he took it upon himself to take care of his sister whenever his mom wasn't home. he would make her food (ramen, it was always ramen) and brush her hair (sometimes he would braid it) and tuck her into bed with their favorite bedtime story (snow white and the seven dwarves). aside from their mother, vincent would make sure he was the last one to fall asleep in the household.

when vincent was eleven, his mom broke the news to him first: they would be moving to south korea in a year or so. she had been saving up money to make the move since even before the twins were born. the country held better opportunities for work, education, and their futures. their other family members even offered them a place to stay with them to help them. it would also let them move further away from their father but his mother didn't mention that. he was ecstatic! he started to learn korean and even got to wrote his name in hangul. his sister, however, was more pessimistic. she had all her friends here; why would she leave? vincent then began to realize that his life would practically change after he moves. he would have to make new friends, learn a whole new language, and assimilate into a whole new culture. was he even ready to leave the home he knew for so long? but, he always had trust in his mother and he knew that every choice she made was for her children. with suitcases full of clothes and hearts full of hope, the zhang family was off to a new life in south korea.

the move to south korea was harder than vincent thought it would be. none of the pamphlets he read prepared him for the xenophobia he would face from his own peers. the consistent teasing of his strong hong konger accent, the confusion when it came to korean norms and traditions, the comments made by adults about his country of origin, how the heck was he ever gonna blend in? the pressure of having to go through puberty as a teenager and also being an immigrant met with hostility was weighing in on him and it wasn't any more easier on his mom and sister either. amidst all of the bullying and tears of frustration, vincent found son heungmin, a south korean soccer player that played for a foreign team in europe. maybe the familarity of being in a new country and the struggles that came with it resonated with vincent but he found a connection between him and the soccer player. he looked up to him as a role model and, eventually, began to play soccer because of his appreciation for him. eventually, him and alice both applied for scholarships to attend geumbaekwon private and are currently funded by their own part-time jobs, their more well-off family members, and grants offered by the government.

now, life is much easier for vincent. his korean has improved vastly but he refuses to get rid of his stubborn hong konger accent and is much more familiar with the culture. he cemented a spot on the varsity soccer team his first year (#weirdflexbutok) and became a co-captain his second year before becoming the sole captain his third year. despite being content and settled in korea, vincent still remembers his roots. he rushes home to eat his mom's hong konger dishes, he stands up for other immigrants that are being belittled simply for being immigrants, and he was even somewhat a tutor in hangul for middle schoolers his first year. he doesn't really bother reaching out to his father since he doesn't really know where to start. for now, he wants to focus on his soccer team, his mother and sister, getting better grades, and getting into a good university.

trivia
one proud team captain of the soccer team. kinda flaunts it everywhere but tries to be humble when it comes to bragging about them. has to set himself as the role model for underclassmen soccer kiddos. they train every day after school and end around 4:30pm or 5:00pm, depending on much more work their coach thinks they need. sits in class 12-1 near the window with other teammates in the class.
two the zhang twins dont even acknowledge that they're related when they're at school. in fact, the only time they ever interact with each other is when they need to tell the other something important during lunch.
three vincent loves celine dion. he doesn't really understand all the words she's singing but there's something calming about her voice. she's his mom's favorite artist too so they're always blasting their music around the house or in the car and singing along to it.  his favorite song by her has to be 'i drove all night'. #celinedionstan4ever
four vincent speaks cantonese as his native tongue, mandarin fluently, korean semi-fluently, and english basically. he likes to incorporate canto and english slang into his korean sometimes. has a hong konger accent in all languages but not as strong as when he was younger.
five listen: vincent is not the smartest person in his class. he gets a b+ average if he tries extra hard (which he usually does) but without trying, it's a c average. his grades don't slip because of his athletics; it slips cause, in his words, "i'm just dumb."
six he's the type of guy friend to walk a girl home at night to make sure she gets home safely and always becomes the designated driver, keeping an eye out for unattended cups to throw away and sneaky inappropriate touches on his female friends. he does it all the time with his sister and sometimes even his mom when she has to work late.
seven he plans on going back to hong kong after school to continue his education and maybe have a transfer year in south korea in the future. one of his ambitions is to become a soccer coach for small kiddos. he's not sure if he wants to continue playing soccer in university but he'll start considering it when the scholarships roll in.
eight his pregame ritual usually consists of listening to hip hop, cracking his knuckles, and bending to touch the tips of his cleats. he guarantees that it helps him be a better player during the match, no matter if they win or lose.
nine he used to be quite the bookworm when he was younger but decided to give it up for soccer. because of this, he knows a bunch of random trivia and quotes from harry potter and percy jackson but can't seem to do anything about it.
ten vincent's pretty good with kids and loves to carry them and give them smooches. at family reunions, him and his sister are usually the only ones to take care of the little babies. but, because almost all of his younger cousins are practically demons, he's not sure if he wants kids in the future.
eleven his part-time job is at a small restaurant that is owned by an even smaller korean grandma. despite its size, it's quite popular and boasts a 4.6 star review on yelp. due to its above average popularity, he gets a really good pay and free food. plus, the grandma's kind and patient too, knowing that everything in korea is still new to vincent and that he's still learning.
twelve him and alice are constantly fighting for their mom's love and attention. miss zhang loves them both equally but they'll argue about who she loves more. there's barely a day of peace at the zhang residence.
thirteen his dad apparently tried to contact him and his sister multiple times when they were younger but his mother would always deflect his attempts. he trusted her enough to know that she was making the right choice for them.
fourteen he used to braid his sister's hair before she learned how to do it by herself so whenever a female friend needs a hair problem to be fixed, have no fear cause expert braider vincent is here! he only knows how to do simple french and dutch braids so no special tricks up his sleeves for cool hairstyles.
fifteen one of his most prized possesions he brought over from hong kong is a '85 live aid t-shirt that he can only assume his mom bought when she was a youngster. she doesn't say a lot about her past so he never brings it up with her. he's seen wearing it sometimes but usually uses it as a sleep shirt.
sixteen owns a son heungmin jersey from the national south korean soccer team. wears it rarely cause he doesn't wanna get it dirty. it's also the first really expensive thing he ever spent money on.
relationships
"snotface, ma wants to know if you ate already."

alice zhang wai, seventeen, younger twin (by five min)
the expectations that many people have about twins - whether they're identical or fraternal - is that they're closer than most siblings are. the type to finish each other's sentences and read the other's mind. well, whatever expectations you would have, throw them all out the window when you meet the zhang twins. their relationship as siblings are they're either at each other's throats with no remorse or they're singing their favorite cantonese song with each other in the car. there is literally no inbetween. many people don't even suspect that they're twins because of their turbulent relationship. however, at the end of the day, vincent still loves alice (even though he's not quite sure the love is reciprocated) and shows it through tiny things like making sure to grab food for her on the way home or wearing the bracelet she made for him for good luck during games. they may not get along on the best terms but they've already accepted a long time ago that they're stuck with each other until the end of time.

"vincent, what's that dance called again? the floss?"

jung sookyung, who knows tbh, teacher
listen: if vincent had to pick a favorite teacher, it would 100% be miss jung. the woman knows how to ing teach. vincent has had his share of cool and go-with-the-flow teachers but no one is as invested in students' education as her. he likes her for the fact that she'll joke around with the students occasionally but won't hesitate to get down to business when it comes to it. it sounds cheesy but vincent kind of looks up to her as a student and future adult. in her class, vincent likes to stall a little bit with jokes and prying into her personal life but he gets pretty good grades and always pays attention so he doesn't think she really cares for much when he raises his hand to ask a "dumb" question. she's been a really good help when vincent doesn't understand some korean words and he even leaves questions on his tests and worksheets, asking miss jung what they mean, and she goes out of her way to transate them into the best cantonese she could get from the internet to answer his questions every time. they have a special bond but it's not very close. he wishes they were though; she seems really cool.

"we are! geumbaekwon! private! forever!"

boys soccer team, 15-19, minions teammates
vincent's not kidding when he says he'll do anything for these boys. a lot of these kids have known him since he was still the new and fresh vincent, the one with the heavy hong konger accent and unfamiliar english name. some of them admitly weren't very nice to him when they were younger but growing up and realizing that being mean isn't so cool after all is enough for vincent to accept. he's faced hardships and success with this team and wouldn't trade it for the whole world. he doesn't like to get mushy and all in-his-feelings very often but this team can bring out his soft side quite easily. graduating is gonna be tough for a lot of reasons but vincent thinks it's gonna be the hardest to leave this team that he knew for most of his life in south korea. he's determined to make his last year of being on this team become memorable not just for him but also the rest of the graduating players. his teammates respect him as a player and the captain but they're close buddies with him on and off the field. inside jokes and memes run rampant in their groupchat and there's also claims of them being a cult among the underclassmen. they also have quite a close relationship with their stone-faced coach, han beomsoo, and always try to catch a joke with him, although they swear they saw him smile once when they won regionals.

assignment partnerpark seoham,  박서함

personality

THE CAVALIER, THE OPULENT, THE HUBRISTIC
SCORPIO, SLYTHERIN, ESTJ
in vincent's eyes, park seoham is the worst human being possible. he's narcisstic, stuck-up, and he's always trying to one-up vincent at everything. if vincent wrote a book, seoham would write a whole series. if vincent won a match, seoham would win the entire competition. if vincent even did anything as simple as just drawing a straight line, seoham would draw a renaissace portrait, complete with acrylic paints and all. he flexes his money on each and every person at school, especially on scholarship kids like vincent. and he swears that he's the best player the basketball team has ever had. (well, they have won every competition since he's joined but that's not the point!) he's every stereotype of a rich rolled up in one and, between you and vincent, he probably wears those glasses just to show how 'smart' he is. and vincent has no doubt in his mind that all of those feelings are quite mutual.

he wonders if there's anything flawed about this man. to his flawless skin all the way down to his perfectly trimmed hair, their has got to be something he's bad at. well, there was that one time, when vincent was walking past the basketball court and saw seoham throw shots at the basketball ring. he missed every time, and vincent was in the middle of thinking about a snide comment about his performance, until seoham began to shout. suddenly, he threw over a basket of balls and kicked a few away harshly, yelling the whole time while he did it. finally, he sat down on the bleacher and put his head in his hands.

vincent was, for lack of words, taken aback. he had never seen seoham like this before and didn't even know seoham was capable of such strong emotions. it reminded vincent of himself a little bit, of how he held himself up to high standards too and put himself down for a lot of the tiny mistakes he made but he doesn't think he has it as bad as seoham has it. at least his dad's not a renowed basketball player in asia like seoham's is. he doesn't want to admit it but, since then, vincent's been a little bit easier on seoham. the rivalry's still strong as usual but he's gotten a bit sympathetic to the basketball star.

he still hates his guts though.

partner's class12-1

relationship
the soccer team and the basketball team had no problems before vincent and seoham came along. they bought their middle school rivalry (rumors say it was about a girl, others say it was about the last candy bar at lunch) into their high school years and every year gets more and more competitive. if the basketball team gets to regionals, the soccer team has to get to nationals. their rivalry became somewhat of reality tv show for all of geumbaekwon to watch. many people like to compare them to edward and jacob of twilight, with the role of bella played by bragging rights.

many people also like to compare the two, saying that both of them heads so much because they're so similar, being team captains of renowed sport teams and having the same habit of becoming perfect and similar compeititve nature. but vincent would hate being any way compared to this douchebag. he hates his clothes, his voice, the way he sneers at the soccer team, the way he looks at them every time they walk by, the way he so-called 'congratulate them' with downcast eyes and a mumble of compliments. he hates his hands, his hair, his clothes, his shoes, his handwriting, his beautiful eyes that you could get lost in, his cute little laugh that he hears sometimes in the classroom, his soft-looking lips that vincent himself thinks about how they would feel on his ow-

wait, what? get a hold of yourself, vincent.

okay, maybe ... vincent kinda thinks he's hot. or something like that. he's not sure. he's never really closed about his uality but nor is he very open about it. and he definitely doesn't talk openly about what he actually kinda thinks about seoham. he represses these thoughts about seoham and focus on what's really important - kicking his at every goddamn thing he does. besides, those type of feelings aren't mutual and he thinks he'll never get closure but he'll just suffer in silence until they graduate.

"vincent zhang and ... park seoham! you guys are partners."

those words echoed in vincent's head as he slowly looked up and turned his head to see seoham staring right back at him. and then that stare turned into a very slow and subtle glare. this had to be rigged, every single person in school knew about their hatred towards each other, was this some type of prank? some weird bonding exercise? they didn't actually expect to see vincent and seoham take care of a child together.

when class ended, vincent went up to miss jung to try to reason with her and, to his surprise, seoham was already there, arguing that he should be able to switch partners. as they both tried to get their opinions out towards her, miss jung put her foot down and told them one last thing: "for the sake of the child, please, at least try your best to get along. or else, i'll fail you both." and with a whip of her hair, she turned away from the two boys.

seoham turns around and, after a pause, holds out a hand to the other boy. vincent stares at it for a minute, glances back up at seoham (who raises an incredulous eyebrow at him), looks back down at the hand, and begrudingly shakes it with a sigh.

this was gonna be a very long year.

planssurprisingly, vincent and seoham are pretty good parents to their child. they both take care of the kid individually and give them as much as love as they could. unsurprisingly, they're not as good as parents when paired together. seoham can't help but spoil the kid but vincent thinks it's good for the child to have a little bit of tough love. so when vincent doesn't give the kid the bookbag he asks for, seoham gives him a birkin bag instead. vincent brings up this issue, or at least tries to, with seoham but the latter keeps dismissing it. they both become quite closer as the year goes by, with vincent and seoham often taking on many of the tasks together (kinda badly done but finished well nontheless) and even finding themselves bonding on some occasions. and, maybe there was more than one time where seoham got a bit too close to vincent or lingered on a high five a second too long or maybe even brushed his hand against his in the hallway. but who knows? maybe vincent's overthinking it ... or is he?

expected markA+. seoham does nothing but excel at all of his projects and vincent desperately needs this grade to pass the class and graduate.

endingseoham and vincent get caught up in a, you know, moment and realize they both have to talk to each other or else this is just gonna end badly. they both decide they want to get in a relationship but keep it on the low until they both graduate. it seems like the end for them and vincent can't help but feel melancholic about it until he hears rumors about seoham going to the same university vincent's already committed to.
last commentshi! here's vincent again haha love him pls
 - i changed the love interest cause i wanted to, uhhhhhhHHH, satisfy my needs of the rivals to lovers trope fjdjsjjsaaj the true reason for their rivalry is up to you and i tried to make their ending as vague as possible so you could come up with a concept similar to it
 - the colors of the soccer kits could be red ??? but they're really up to you i just made them red to fit the theme and the same goes for the basketball team kits too !!
 - i know seoham's personality is like a lil confusing lmao i tried to format it differently and more ~*~*~creatively~*~*~ but if u have any questions ill answer them !
 - if u have any questions pls do not hesitate to ask :-)))

suggestionschubby kids who steal ur heart uwu

scene requests(some of these are recycled from last app btw)
- the soccer team gets a lot of support for their last game (finals por favor) but most of it comes from the rest of the crew and their babies and seoham drags his basketball crew along too and forces them to cheer for the soccer team
- i just want a lot of scenes with vincent wearing a baby carrier pls that'd be ing hilarious
- dances ! prom ! any occasion where they get all fancy and dance the night away !
- arguments between seoham and vincent over the dumbest ("why did u buy this child a louis vuitton bucket hat?" "its so cute and its his size!" "this child doesn't even haVE A CONCEPT OF MATERIAL THINGS YET-")
- oh! and also "my child will play basketball" "that kid has soccer in their blood and you know it"
- the kid plays matchmaker for vincent and seoham cause it seems like everyone around them could sense their tension except them
- moments of rivalry between the soccer team and the basketball team ("i can eat two burritos" "well i can eat five and run four miles" "well I CAN-")
- and last but not least: vincent makes his own peewee soccer team with the babies
