Helpless

Sometimes it’s so easy to identify wrong, but so difficult to stand up against it. We see people being hurt but our hands are tied with an invisible rope of helplessness.

My supervisor at work  who is a cheerful lady in her early 30’s is referred to as “not the pretty one”. People choose to make her feel conscious about her appearance at her work place without realizing that they are hurting her. An employee who recently joined our organization had to submit some of his on-boarding paper work to my supervisor, someone by mistake sent him towards my cubicle and he asked me, “I am looking for the not so good looking lady in your department, do you know where is she?”. My supervisor who was right behind him looked visibly embarrassed and sad but had to continue her work with a smile on her face. Although I wanted to fight the guy, I was asked not to do so because that could land me into trouble.

This is not the first time this happened, earlier too I noticed how some people in our organization  tend to classify women according to their appearance and I feel so angry about it.

I wonder when will people realize that in this world there is too much hatred already, we don’t need more. People really need to be sensitive.

Omg that's really awful. I've never heard anything like that in a workplace.
