GOLDEN VOICEas one of broadcasting club's dj or broadcaster, garam's soothing, honey like voice is something geumbaekwon private students and staff can easily recognize even if most don't exactly know his face. ever since garam lent his voice for a narration of the school's promotional video on his first year, they dubbed him 금먹 (a shortened version of 금 먹소리) meaning golden voice, taking the geum from geumbaekwon.
THAT GUYis something his adopted brother refer to him as. in their rocky relationship, garam can count how many times min heojun calls him by his name—minus the times they're infront of their parents.
MOOD KILLERgiven by his best friends, garam's voice also earned him the nickname. as his voice has a calming effect, whenever his friends are all hyped and joking around, the mood cools down when he speaks. although he'd sigh inwardly at the name, he does admit it...to an extent since the things he says actually make his friends laugh at times. it's 90% used to and 10% to actually scold him for killing the mood.

—min garam is like the rain that makes you feel nostalgic, the soft piano tune that tugs on your heartstrings and the teddy bear that sits on your bed, ready to listen to your complaints.

unlike most students in geumbaekwon private, min garam wasn't born with a silver spoon in his mouth. born as yoon garam, his parents were an unwed couple who doesn't have stable jobs. they were good people, deciding to have him despite their situation as it didn't seem fair for the baby to be aborted. but economical problems aside, they weren't ready. they can't afford to spare time and love for garam.
the numerous pressure from all sides turned them into an emotional whirlwind. their relationship became strained and garam was injured couple of times when he got caught up in their fights. thus, before things got worse, his mother let go of his tiny hand and left a four years old garam at an orphanage.
sarangbit orphanage is a small orphanage in the outskirts of seoul. garam grew up with shared love from the guardians with the other orphans. he had enough of his necessities and learn to share and yield what he has for the younger—at times the older ones—orphans. for five years, he lived a simple life and was quite content until a woman, han jian, crouched in front of him and asked for his name.
two months after jian appeared in his life, the nine years old boy left the orphanage with a new registered name, min garam. he was introduced to min heojun, his adopted brother who's a year older, and min doyoung, his adopted father. although he had to adjust to a new environment, moving to byeonggak, having parents as warm as doyoung and jian was a life to look forward to.
his adopted parents promised him a new life, but his older brother promised him hell. at least when heojun reached age twelve and heojun's jealousy unleashed along with puberty. long story short, garam has to put up with heojun's attempt in making his day overcast with dark clouds and always prepared to shield himself from showers of hurtful words.

aside from putting up with heojun, garam has full control of his life...at least before the baby project was given. as he received a scholarship for his senior year in the geumbaekwon private, garam has to keep his grades up. thus, weekdays is mostly booked with school, broadcasting club and a little more studying in a book cafe. weekends consist of hanging out with friends, usually a little game of basketball or a visit to batting cage, walking the family's dog and often dragged out to be a temporary vocalist for his best friend's band—busking out or snagging a little gig in a live cafe.

!in the most rebellious and troublesome class, 12-5.
!forcefully appointed as class president because literally no one wants to (or cares) and he's the only sane person in homeroom teacher's eyes.
!he wonders about his biological parents at times but never imagined how his life would be now if he was still with them.
!visits sarangbit orphanage around two times half a year (he would have visited more but the orphanage told him to focus on his life now).
!his adopted father works as a writer for kbs radio while his adopted mother is a vetenarian in a vet she opened with a fellow vetenarian.
!listens to radios and podcasts. dreams of hosting his own radio segment when his father took eleven year old him to work one day.
!prefers to go to book cafes rather than hagwon because 1) he doesn't want to burden his parents to pay for hagwon and 2) it's neither too loud (like other cafes) or too quiet (like a library or hagwon).
!he's received scholarship twice: in his junior year and current senior year.
!was president of broadcasting club but has passed it on to juniors. although, he's still rather active (partly because he cherishes the club and partly because a lot of students still want to hear his voice).
!loves basketball and baseball.
!prefers sugarless tea over bitter coffee.
!has sns accounts but barely uses it. !for curious ones, his sns handle is : lwysgaram (always garam, a reminder of not losing himself even if his identity—notably his family name—changes).
!loves any kind of music but his heavy rotations are k-indies, ballads, r&b and pop-rock bands.
!a "temporary" member and vocalist of "youth fm", a band of three that consist of a guitarist and keyboardist, drummer (mostly uses cajon) and vocalist ie. garam.

A HELPFUL GUIDE TO

!started in spring of 2014 in which they only covered songs.
!min garam as vocalist (+ guitarist as of 2018), yoo sihyun as drums and lim juho as guitarist and pianist/keyboard-ist.
!started to release their own songs in 2016, sihyun and juho mostly in composing while garam songwrites.
!uploads their tracks on soundcloud and youtube (youth.fm) while rowoon uploads photos of them busking in instagram.
!their songs are mostly soothing, relatable and light-hearted songs (music twin: airman, standing egg, yu seungwoo). although, sihyun started to venture into more genre while composing.

yoo sihyun is min heojun's childhood friend and naturally befriended garam when he joined the min family. the older guy made it easier for garam to get used to his new environment and they've been close ever since. the fact that heojun changed his attitude toward garam caused a rift between sihyun and heojun. honestly, garam felt un-comfortable at times but as long as heojun doesn't fire at garam, sihyun always mentio-ned he still consider heojun his friend. garam thinks of sihyun as an older brother he'd want to have and sihyun actually mentioned once to think of him as his real older brother.
founder, leader and drummer of youth fm, sihyun drags garam busking and doing live in cafes as he's still looking for a vocalist. although, he really thinks garam is a perfect fit. but as garam has a dream of his own, sihyun is just grateful garam is always ready to lend his voice. although sihyun is now a university student (surprise!!! music major), they still hang out pretty often and stick together through youth fm.
it's also rumoured that sihyun runs a min garam fanclub (spread by his own girl friend rawrwoon aka ji rowoon) since he posts tons of pictures of garam in his sns account. "...if i stop posting his pictures you're going to cry. he's not even active in his sns account."

youth.hyun my hand is itching to cut his emo bangs. i swear, i'm going to bring scissors.
lim juho, of class 12-3, is youth fm's guitarist and keyboardist. they also jokingly call him wallet as he's the most richest of the squad, being a son of a hospital director and all. but of course, it wasn't the money they were after. before all that, juho is garam's best friend.
they were classmate and deskmate in middle school. garam thought juho as a little arrogant and a bully at first because juho had attempted on manipulating him (trying to make garam buy him this and that). but he saw through juho's mask when he found out that juho's parents had been pressuring him to be an a star student, thus his tendency to look down on people to take the stress out. since then they were on the same page, garam became juho's diary and juho became a friend garam can depend on. in comes sihyun and thus, the birth of youth fm.
they're practically inseparable despite being in different classes (they were fatefully in the same classes in 10th and 11th grade) up to the point that if one appear at each other's class, fellow classmates automatically tells them the other's whereabouts.

min heojun has always been the one his parents praised and spoiled with things he wants. suddenly sharing the spotlight with garam didn't feel so good. even his friends around the neighbourhood started to like him, including sihyun who he considered bestfriend. thus, their rocky relationship began.
garam tries to be nice with heojun despite heojun's mean words and actions. he can't really force heojun to accept him as a little brother. but garam wants him to at least, be friends. all these years, being nice doesn't seem to work. garam tries to understand where heojun's coming from and plays along when they act infront of their parents. only a few people at school knows they're brothers.
but there's only so much scars garam can take and with heojun being in uni, he thought heojun will grow out of his hatred. it was unfortunate that he didn't because garam has started to be honest and straightforward, countering heojun's "bullying" by himself (instead of sihyun being mad at heojun in his place).

ji rowoon, of class 12-5, became garam's close friends when they entered the broad-casting club in their freshman year. they revived the almost-forgotten-club together with their creative segments, garam's voice and rowoon's witty scripts. albeit, they became even closer when rowoon started liking sihyun and eventually dating him.
they hang out together in school most of the times since they're in the same class for two years now. plus, rowoon's own set of best friends is in other schools. rowoon would join garam studying in his favorite book cafe when it's exams time because she needs help studying.
she's a certified youth fm min garam's no. 1 fan the moment she heard garam can also sing with his radio perfect voice. thus, there are times that they all have a moment of doubt whether she likes garam instead of sihyun. but she really only sees garam as a friend and garam perfectly sees that.

jung sookyung, their home-ec teacher is like an older sister to garam. she's always popping around the broadcasting club with the club's advisor and recommends songs for them to play (mostly her favorites). and by chance, she witnessed heojun and garam had their not-so-friendly exchange in private during lunch. the look on her face when garam told her heojun is his older brother was something garam couldn't forget: the face that says "fck-you're-brothers-with-that-boy-version-of-mean-girls?"
although she doesn't literally meddle in his complicated brotherhood with heojun, she does check up from time to time when they finish class and garam had to help her bring stuff to the teacher's room as president of his class and whenever they're alone in the broadcasting club. garam appreciate her in ways he can tell her stuff yet she doesn't meddle unless he asks to.

han moonbyul, of class 12-5, might be a figure most students in their year is scared of ...but not to garam. they met when they were both called to the office as two students in their junior year to receive scholarship. garam attempted to introduce himself, strike a conversation, after they left the office but moonbyul just looked at him and went her way. with mixed feelings, garam felt like he'd done something wrong and kept in mind to ask if they meet again.
with their first encounter in mind and how moonbyul stood out, garam's ears always picked up her name. he changes the flow of the conversation when classmates starts talking bad about her while simply thinking it wasn't nice talking bad about people behind their backs. they eventually crossed paths even if it was simply in the hallways and most of the times moonbyul just ignored him. soon, it became longer than greetings as moonbyul started to trust him. garam eventually became byul's only comfortable friend around school. and honestly, garam doesn't know when he started to have feelings for her.

relationshipthey were classmates in their first year but hang out with different friend groups. bomyi hitting it off with hojin while garam and juho still as close as ever. the only time they actually talk to each other is when they were on the same duty roster. thus, when they got paired up, garam felt a little at ease since they weren't exactly strangers.

because bomyi's confidence in the project? the part where she'd—and garam quotes—"kill this assign-ment"? it felt more than just a figure of speech. on the other hand, another (unwanted) baby into the min household? garam can't began to imagine how heojun would begin his attack.
unlike most of their classmates who sees this as an opportunity to find love—well, that's what sookyung wanted to see, too, right?—they were simply two friends who's given an assignment to babysit. after all, garam and bomyi each has their own little (read: huge) crush on someone.
although garam has a way of hiding it, he saw through bomyi when she frowned at hojin being paired up with another girl. when he just threw the question,"do you wish i was hojin?", she histerically laughed while strongly denying it (she probably pulled the "just friends" card?), making it even more obvious. their exchange felt like they've always been in talking terms despite the fact that they haven't, for a year and a half.
and garam calls it the bomyi effect*.
the way she lifted the mood he killed, how easily she made him feel comfortable, her epitome of a cheerful spring demeanor and how he didn't have to try to be all sugary (?) nice. that there was no need for him to go an extra mile to be friends with her. that she'd hold his hand and fight withor for him if she has to.
with the baby project pushing garam to step into the shoes of his birth parents, coming in terms with the reason they gave him away and his relationship with heojun taking turn to the worst, he needed as much bomyi effect he could get to get through it...

plansas he lived in sarangbit orphanage with most orphans around three to twelve years old then, garam's not awkward around kids age three and above. albeit, garam has no experience with babies that can't do anything but cry. he'll likely observe bomyi in handling the baby before jumping in himself. he'd definitely be that guy who knows exactly what the baby wants and talks to it as if it's a grown person.
his biggest worry is that heojun would still throw out "beautiful" remarks infront of the baby. if possible, he'll try to keep the baby away from heojun. there might be times that the baby will spend the night at bomyi's eventhough it's garam's turn. but to not burden bomyi, he'll put the baby to sleep, attending to his needs, before going home.
expected marka. given bomyi's experi-ence, it seems easy to get an a. of course, garam will work to get an a as he needs to keep his grades clear if he also wants to get the chance of getting scholarship to university.
ending :'))) i'm picturing them both being friends in the end rather than successfully being matched since they started off by liking someone else. but he needs love it's all up to you!!
