the yeons had long for a child. they were considered holder of silver spoons, able to get whatever they wanted. yet years after their marriage, they still have not been blessed by a child. they don't ask for much—only a healthy baby they can be proud of. they thought they should pile up some good deeds for good karma. hence, they started volunteering for the old and young.

they were frequent volunteers and sponsors for saimdang orphanage located a good couple of hours outside seoul. it was there where they met an unnamed baby girl, fatefully left approximately a few weeks after her birth. mrs. yeon wasted no chance to decide to adopt the infant.

ransa, she called her and the baby smiled as if agreeing to her new name.

mrs. yeon adored her especially with the fast progress of ransa's growth. oh, my, you're a smart one, you are, the mothers around her would coo as two years old ransa clumsily wiped spilled water with a tissue or when she sat beside them, flipping pages of her picture book. mrs. yeon would agree, loving ransa's silky, black hair.

but the yeons began to have their attention divided by a miracle: mrs. yeon was with child. they told ransa that she was going to be a big sister. she still quite don't understand what that meant. but if her parents were happy, so was she.

yeon sara was born three years after they took in ransa. only three years did they fulfilled their vow to give ransa undivided attention. she wasn't particularly cast aside, no. yet it was obvious how the weight of their love between the sisters differed. as three years old ransa grew older, however, she only thought it was because sara was the youngest around the house. after all, she, too, loved little sara that follows her around and depends on her as a little sister would to an older sister.

searching ranwiki... while she does knows bits of everything, ranwiki works best when you ask her of mythology, forklores and fairy tales. this doesn't limit to only korean fairy tales or lores. she's likely to know international ones—for example grimms fairy tales, greek gods and goddesses and more—and actually ventures deep to the original tales (as compared to disney versions) and their alternate endings.

arts she's a self-proclaimed good artist yet her drawings are...abstract to put it nicely. the idea is there yet you'll have to twist and turn your neck to see what she sees.

she would be lying if she had never imagined herself embody the life of a princess in the fairy tales she's read. whether the ending led to a tragedy of turning into seafoams or a happily ever after. perhaps it caused her to be idealistic with the love story she would want to be in that no one fits the criteria of her ideals. other than the fact she had little time to look around herself or realize someone was vying for her attention. or perhaps, no one ever really got past through the ransa's subconcious of acknowledging her ideals was too high and struck her heartstrings.

it was what ransa found fascinating about geum samshik. he was similar to her yet different. he had knowledge she didn't have and stories she hasn't heard. it was vice versa. but he was like a free soul while ransa...still felt trapped. frustratingly so.

they met at one event, samshik surrounded by young and old on their toes because of the pacing of his story. she had the pleasure to be a front seater when he noticed her trying to listen: give the lady a little space. he remembered the twinkle in her eyes, almost seeing how she imagined every scene he described reflected in it.

they met the second time at another—a dance. ransa, stiff and awkward, resigned to stay at the sidelines when samshik offered his hand. he told her to imagine how the music would move if it was human. she thought it was ridiculous at first but it took away her stick-straight pose. though she'd rather hear samshik spit out stories she was eager to know, the wanderer's silence as they dance seemed to speak louder.
