when interviewing her fellow classmates, we've collected a few statements from some of shaoyan's closest friends and some peers.

 

PEER #1 : well, she falls asleep in class a lot. she's been like that since she enrolled in freshman year, so i think a lot the teachers are used to it at this point. even though she sleeps so much during lessons, she still gets a's on all her exams? she's so smart it actually makes the rest of us angry. when she is awake, she's usually super quiet. i swear, no one can ever tell what she's thinking since she's always so expressionless. if she doesn't have that blank look on her face, she looks tired or sleepy. i don't think she cares much for anything, really, always very nonchalant.

 

PEER #2 : no one can ever tell where her mind is. one time, she forgot to pull her chair in and she tried to sit and fell over. i've never met a girl so airheaded. she's always forgetting something, and borrowing something from the kid next to her. sure, she's pretty as hell, and super easy to talk to since she's the usually the listener of the group. oh my god, the one time i saw her smile, everyone in the room turned to look at her. the gazette monster even wrote an article on it because it was like a christmas miracle.

 

XU XIAOYIN : ...you're writing another article on my sister? well, if you want the truth, she's not as airheaded as she seems. to put it in simpler terms, she's two-faced without knowing it. at home, she's always super moody and a total nerd. she bathes in compliments and cries at every little critique. yeah, sure, she's smart, but that's because she hides how hardworking she is behind her sleepy facade. she pretends to be this ditzy and clumsy girl so no one will suspect her when she--[a cough, and a muffled scream before the line cuts off].

 

TL;DR : xu shaoyan is hiding something under her deceptive mask of airheadedness and indifference. that 'something' is both good and bad. she's more hardworking than she'd like to admit, but she also cares more about what others say about her than she'd like to admit. because of her two-faced nature, she's good at manipulating what others think of her. in short, she's fake. still, she regards both these personalities as real, and only a few people see the real her--one is currently her brother, who makes fun of her for it. in truth, she thinks the people who will stick with her even after knowing how manipulative and goal-oriented she is are fools. but she treasures them the most, and vows to protect them for the rest of her life. loyal to a fault.
