Fic Log (Weekly Schedule Update)

So.

I want to be better at this whole writing/editing/uploading thing.

Recently, I saw that Yahtzee Croshaw had started running a series called Dev Diary where he kept track of his progress and used a video to keep himself accountable. Now, I'm not a video person, I'm generally more of a typing person. Whilst I would love to challenge myself into making a video that outlined what I wanted to do, I think it's a safer bet for me to simply write blog posts. So that is what I'm going to do. And this is the first one.

In these posts, I want to outline what I have planned for the week ahead, how I'm doing on those targets, where I am with different fics, prompts, ideas, etc. Maybe run some ideas and see if putting them into words instead of random scribbling and thoughts and notes on my phone. I'll probably be asking questions (won't be expecting many answers or anything but if I get any I'll appreciate it) and I'll have my main schedule that I'll be posting here as well.

So that's the plan for now.

In terms of schedule:

I want to be posting a chapter of For the Ashes in Our Oath once a week. I shall pick a day at some point and aim for that each week. Chapters will be at least 1000 words long (as they are already) and that's pretty much is for that one. It's just a little something to encourage me along by giving myself a deadling for the chapter.

Each fortnight (two weeks) I want to post a one shot story. These can be any pairing from any group and probably any length. But knowing me, it'll be at least 2000-3000 words minimum. These will be based on pretty much anything. Prompts, my own ideas, pictures, concepts, already existing franchises, music videos, anything I fancy really. Feel free to send me prompts or send me somewhere that regularly posts prompts.

At least one of the one shots each month will be rated M. My fics generally have swearing and the like but I don't always write in my stories. However, one of the stories each month will have . I cannot promise the fics that have will have loads of plot but for anyone that prefers , don't worry, it will be coming.

In each month, I cannot write the same ship twice (I am guilty of sticking to what I'm comfortable with but I do really want to expand and challenge myself).

I would also love to run a theme each month (for example October being Halloween or Horror or something like that) but I don't think I'll start that until I actually hit July. I shall update the themes when I decide on them closer to the times.

Alongside the fics, I want to be posting blog updates at least twice a week to keep myself on track and to let people know that I am trying to be dedicated to this routine of uploading. So if everything goes to plan, I will be more active on my blog as well as my stories. If I find time, I'd love to do a blog post that isn't related to the schedule/updates but I'll see how I'm doing with fitting everything in.

But that should be everything. To summarise:

WEEKLY: For the Ashes Chapter and Two Blog Posts

FORTNIGHTLY/BIWEEKLY: Random One Shot

MONTHLY (MINIMUM): One Shot

Let's hope this works.
