Wonhwa can be seen as a cool and quiet type of guy to a lot of people who has never spent a single minute with him. He also has a tendency to be very blunt and call out anyone. Wonhwa also gives out witty comments here and there that throws people off gaurd when they never met him before.
To people around him, his classmates know that he only has a small group of friends, and there being only one he actively hangs out with. They see Wonhwa as someone they can't really get close to. When people try to hang out with him he would usually cut them off as polietly as possible but sometimes it would still come off as being rude.
However when anything art is related, it seems like Wonhwa's normal personality is thrown away. When drawing that's when he becomes pretty quiet. Actually enjoying what he is doing- he can also become competitive when needed. It's those moments that shows why he is the vice president of the art club.
Art is the only thing that grew up with him.
Background
Wonhwa is someone who doesn't really see a point in a lot of things. Growing up, art was the only thing he became interested in and now it's the only thing that's keeping him in high school.
He was always the one people took attention to. He was always the one people either loved for his outer appearance or hated out of jealousy. It is because of this that he grew up not really having many people close to him. He had girls who would try to befriend him to date and when he doesn't he's called a heartless bastard; to guys they were jealous of his attention so end up bullying him until the teachers had to intervene.
It wasn't like Wonhwa's parents didn't care. When their child would come home he acted like everything was ok and to them it seemed stupid to intervene over the fights that would break just from his 'looks.' However, once middle school started, it became a regular thing to the point they finally decided that Wonhwa should move to a different school.
Moving from Andong to Haecheon things calmed down with the way people treated him but his personality solidified from all those years.
Art was the only thing that had his back in the end.
With his half ty attitude, it put most people off the first few months of his first year at Baekjae. In addition, Wonhwa didn't care about making new friends- cause he knows just how people are. He now has a cynical outlook in life because of the way they treated him from pre-school to middle. However, you could say he could have grown up a lot worse. He could have become a shut-in, or a guy who barely talks to anyone, but now he's just now a guy who teachers would have to get on to because of his bluntness.
Still, joining the art club, Wonhwa found someone he could call his friend (explained more in the relationship section.) If asked, he'll be honest, he's glad that he moved. Is it lonely in the one room apartment his parents gave him? Of course, but now he can invite his friend to hang out and do whatever he wanted.
