taka's downsides come packaged in with his good traits. because of his determination and such, he is very stubborn when it comes to his career. when it comes down to dancing the moves or rapping the right flow, he has to have it perfect or he feels like he's letting himself and the group down. he can also become overly protective of those younger and older than him, and though he'll let them make their own mistakes, he's there to tell them "i told you so" when he's right. though he's called "baby taka," he can be very much like a mother hen when it comes to his hyungs.

background: early life was rather easy for the baek family. japan was a great place; inuyama had two magnificent universities and there were jazz festivals every summer. the family was close knit mostly and they all got along rather well. nothing too exciting happened besides all of the children getting dental surgery once they turned fourteen; except for Haeju, her teeth were perfect. when he was fifteen, taka and his family moved from inuyama, japan to seoul, south korea. for two years, everything went swimmingly. soon after taka and his twin brother Chanyeol turned seventeen, they got involved with a rather bad crowd. both picked up smoking and even drinking. after a year (the year he turn 18) with the crowd, taka got a girl pregnant and realized that the road he was going down was a dangerous one and he needed to back out of it; Chanyeol didn't realize that. taka got him and the girl he impregnated - whom he truly did love, for what it was worth - out of the lifestyle and explained everything to his parents. the seven months of the pregnancy following the discovery went well. they stayed with taka's parents and it was a rather mild pregnancy. the day the child was born was a glorious beginning, but also a horrible end. during childbirth, the eighteen year old young woman had an aneurysm and died. taka kept the child, despite being told he should give her up for adoption. she became his inspiration to go into music and tried to make a better life for him and her.
