How I Met MAMAMOO

How I Met MAMAMOO.

That’s exactly what I want to talk about right here.

So, everyone who’s aware MAMAMOO was having a Fanmeeting Tour in three countries across Asia and that includes my country, Indonesia (the other two countries are Bangkok and Singapore). Since I found out about the news, I started saving up to meet them because I’ve made a promise to myself that if MAMAMOO ever comes to my country for the first time, I will come and see them. I want to be a part of it, so I saved up what I can for the ticket.

I only found out about it around less than two months of the scheduled fanmeet. So, I only had so little time and couldn’t save up for much since I’m also not yet employed and only do freelance jobs here and there. My friend encouraged me by telling to just keep on saving up for the fanmeet even though they still not yet release the ticketing price. I did as she told me. She also said since it wasn’t a concert but a fanmeet, tickets won’t cost too much.

I was chill for a bit until they released the ticketing prices and I was taken aback.

It was expensive! The one that I’m aiming for was way above my budget.

And my budget was so tight that I nearly back out. Honestly, the cheapest ticket (with zero benefit whatsoever, but you still get the poster) costed 1.2million in IDR (admin+tax included) and colored GREEN and RED. I only had some spare money around 300K IDR and I’ve used half of it for the fankit (the one @/MAMAMOOID sold). So, yeah… It’s a bit frustrating but I did buy the ticket in the end (the GREEN section). All I could think of was it doesn’t matter where I’m sitting as long as I can see MAMAMOO before my eyes and hear them sing live.

Around a week before D-Day, my dad came to me and asked if I have some spare money. He said he needed it for something important (it’s a personal family matter so I can’t really say it here). I know it was for something important but that moment I used up all my money for the fanmeet… So, counting down days to the fanmeet, while everyone was so excited—I couldn’t feel the same. I felt so bad if I put MAMAMOO first above my family’s needs, so I ended up selling the ticket that I bought.

It’s one of the hardest decisions I had to make and I admitted that time there were still regrets left. Don’t worry, there are no more regrets now though.

The ticket was sold four minus D-Day.

I sold it for a cheaper price because I needed the money asap. I told a friend of mine (a moomoo and also one of my readers – Tiwi, if you read this, I’m talking about you here, haha) that the plan was cancelled, I told her I couldn’t come because of the whole financial issue. I was devastated, I guess… I did make a post about it on Twitter because really, what else can I do? – but turned out, there’s still a few things I can do to see MAMAMOO.

A few users on Twitter came to my DM and suggested me to join some giveaways. My non-moomoo friend also suggested me the same thing. It was two minus D-Day at that point and I was losing hope. I couldn’t sleep at all. Then my non-moomoo friend mentioned my Twitter username in a tweet where she begged ‘someone’ to give their free ticket to me. It was around 2 or 2:30AM. And I was touched… Honestly, I felt like crying that time because she did so much for me and she wasn’t even a moomoo. She’s such an angel, istg. Her name is Nathasya, if you guys were wondering.

So, that person was a lady who offered a non-conditional giveaway.

I swear I had no idea how the hell does my friend found this lady’s tweet.

It happened so fast though… I remembered I quickly DM-ed her when my friend told me to do so. The lady told me to add her on WhatsApp, so I did it and since I don’t know her name, I saved the contact as: MAYBE GOD??? – Later when I chatted her, all she told me was to wait until morning for the result. She’ll get back to me, she said so I said “yeah, sure, take your time!” – it wasn’t clear that time whether I got the ticket or not but my friend was so sure that I will get it so she congratulated me and all. I did cry that night before falling asleep out of exhaustion.

It wasn’t my plan to sleep because I’m afraid I will miss the lady’s message and all. But I woke up around nine a.m and I received a message from her. She didn’t state whether I got the ticket or not but all she said was: “Your friend can come to my office to pick up the ticket, okay.” – and legit the first thing I replied was: “Wait… Did I really get the ticket…?”

It was so surreal. It still feels like it and it’s already 18-days after the fanmeet and I still couldn’t believe it. And what makes it even better was the fact that it was the YELLOW ticket! (fyi, YELLOW costed around 1.6 or 1.7mill in IDR)

That was day 1 minus d-day!! God, how did that even work?

And if you think that’s all there is to it, then you’re wrong.

The non-moomoo friend, let’s just call her ‘Nath’.

Okay, so Nath told me that she actually got three tickets. Two YELLOW from the same lady, and one from…well, one of the promotors she knew of. It was a surprise too for me because Nath said she wanted to come but after checking the price, she decided to not go. It was too expensive for a fanmeet, she said. But then turned out she actually came too?? God… I don’t know, I was having too many surprises in less than 48-hours.

The giveaway tickets. Nath (and a friend of hers too) coming along to the fanmeet. And then the last surprise was when it’s time for us to exchange the tickets.

To exchange the two YELLOW tickets, we needed to wait for the lady.

Nath then asked the staff about the ticket from the promotor.

I didn’t pay a close attention because supposedly it was the same YELLOW ticket too. But then a guy came to the ticket booth and Nath recognized him. I was just standing there and watching them, really. That is until Nath muttered something about ‘BLUE ticket’.

She looked at me and whispered, “If we get the blue one from this. You’ll take it.”

I think my brain stopped working that time.

Nath’s friend only nudged me and teased me about getting the BLUE ticket.

Now, if you’re not aware. BLUE section is the festival one. That means you’ll be standing in front of the stage. It was practically the closest spot to see the idols. The ticket costed around 2mill without tax and admin fees. Definitely BEYOND my original budget. It was too shocking and I told Nath to stop joking because it won’t be funny to get my hopes up…

But then that guy handed Nath a BLUE section ticket and I cursed.

Yes, because , it’s really the BLUE section ticket.

So… Yeah… That’s… I don’t know…

It’s so surreal.

And I even ended up standing only four people away from the front barrier. That was hella close! At one-point Byul actually looked at me and pointed at my way during her rap part—I stopped functioning. Wheein too… We shared eye-contact! Can you imagine that?! God! I swear to god I fell in love the first moment they walk out to the stage!! It was MAGICAL!

If you’re wondering where exactly my position that time, here’s a few pictures from my view.

And if you come to the fanmeet and didn't get to see me or if you seen me but didn't recognize me, here's a photo of me at the fanmeet!
