fluent, native tongue. he was born and raised in italy after all. has a tendency to revert back to italian as it's his native language.
advanced conversational, his mother's tongue. she taught him korean as a child. he stuck more to italian, but learned korean to appease his mother and the fact that it is his ethnicity's language. he still has problems writing hangul and bit of reading, but is pretty much fluent in a way.

nikolai is a lot of things. he has strong opinions and will fight tirelessly for an idea that he believes in with clever and wit. when he comes to believe that something is important, he will pursue that goal with conviction and energy. he will rock the boat if he has to, something not everyone likes to see, but his passion for his goals cause in an inseparable part of his personality. that passion is what drives him to do his best. he can be very meticulous about how he goes about it, but that's just how is is.
nikolai is a romantic by heart. each time he goes out into public, he expects this will be the day that he'll meet his soulmate. at least, a part of him does. he knows it crazy to think that way, but the excitement gets him going.

BACKGROUND:
nikolai's father was from malaysia, but was adopted into a big italian family when he was a child. nikolai's mother was from south korea who went to italy for work and met his father, the two quickly falling in love. getting married a year later and another year after the wedding, nikolai was born.
growing up asian in italy was a bit hard for nikolai, but he didn't let that down. most of the bullying came from his beautiful looks getting the ladies attention away from all the other boys.
at the age of eleven, nikolai was roaming the internet and came across super junior 05. it was love at first sight. nikolai became addicted to kpop and it was all help to super junior.
fast forward some years and nikolai, freshly graduated, decided to do something completely different that had his parents quite shocked. he was going to audition for sm entertainment. his parents honestly had no problem that their son wanted to do this, they knew he had thought this through and let him.
nikolai won't lie. he knew sm entertainment only accepted him for his looks. he wasn't particularly strong in vocals, dancing, or rapping (*shudders*). it had to be his looks, though he didn't care. it just meant he just needed to work harder to achieve his dream.
though he dream of debuting under sm entertainment seemed to down under when sm had no plans of debuting another boy group. so...he left. but thankfully a scouting agent from sunlight entertainment easily recruited him (again for his looks) into the company and nikolai swore that he would work extra harder to reach his dream.

on the way back the dorms after an exhausting day of training, nikolai was stopped by a scouting agent from sunlight entertainment. it sounded so good to nikolai, he couldn't give it up. so he transferred to the new company.

when news of sole were released, many fans began to dig up stuff about sunlight and blockberry creative's trainees. netizens quickly found out about nikolai and the many tattoos he had on his body. some netizens began sprending stuff about that nikolai was in a gang and that's why he has all those tattoos.
nikolai ended up posting on his instagram that the reason why he has those tattoos is because it's an italian thing. many italians go out and get tattoos on certain holidays as bonding activities. many netizens backed off at that explanation.

after the release of the sole members, many netizens noticed something odd about nikolai's teaser photos. there was indents in his tight shirt that made everyone think that "oh he must have a piercing."
the company neber held a statement about the whole thing and nikolai was very careful about removing the piercing whenever their was a performance where he needed to be shirtless. later on, he finally forgets about the piercing for one concert and when he went to show off his abs for the fans, he accidentally showed off the metal through his which honestly made the fans go ape crazy over it.

sunlight releases a statement that they are not in fact together and they are just friends. nikolai further elaborates that she's a friend from italy that he hasn't seen in a while and wanted to show her around. and that most italians are very affectionate, especially with close friends.

makoto is an actual ball of sunshine. he lights up any room he walks into. his smile is definitely contagious and it's considered illegal to make him frown. he has big dreams and imagination, hardly ever anything bringing him down. his optimism is one of his best attributes, helping to keep those around him from getting down. because of his bright personality, he can be quite childish and naive. he does get pushed around a lot without him even knowing.
LOVE STORY:
nikolai and makoto met as trainees at sm entertainment. makoto was already a trainee for sm, having been with the company since he was a child. you could say that it was love at first for nikolai as he was already comfortable with his ual orientation at the time. makoto was...still practically a child personality wise. nikolai proclaimed himself as makoto's protector, making sure no one would use him for evil purposes.
after getting used to nikolai's affectionate personality, makoto eventually gave into nikolai's courting. the officially began dating in 2014, right before nikolai transferred to sunlight entertainment.
