1997; yeeun was born on a rainy fall day in ilsan-gu, gyeonggi-do, south korea. her parents were in their 30's and told that they wouldn't be able to have children, so yeeun was quite the surprise. as her parents weren't expecting a child, they didn't have any supplies or funds to raise a baby, as their only source of income was the barbeque shop yeeun's father owned. yeeun's mother got a part time job at a nursery nearby when she found out she was pregnant and worked there after yeeun's birth. although her family was low on cash, her parents cared for yeeun with everything they had. as her mother lost her frist child due to complications with birth and was told she wasn't able to have any more children, she thought yeeun was a miracle as she loved kids and prayed hard for one of her own.
1998-2003; shortly after yeeun's birth yeeun's family went bankrupt. his barbeque shop needed some serious renovation as customers slowly stopped coming by, resulting in her father to sell that shop and move his business into a smaller shop nearby. yeeun's family life became more stable although her parents were still living pay-check to pay-check; they somehow always found a way to make it work.
2004-2008; yeeun had always been quite the talented child. her hobbies included art and watching musicals as she would constantly be painting small drawings for her mother to hang up in the family restaurant. yeeun's parents always supported their daughter in whatever she found interest in, and when yeeun became interested in the idols she saw on tv, little yeeun knew that's what she wanted to spend her life doing.
2009-2013; with her favorite genre of music always being indie or r&b and her favorite childhood artists being ft island, iu, and nell; yeeun and a few of her high school friends came together and formed the band nova with her being the lead singer and guitar.
2014-2016; nova, meaning the brightest star due to yeeun's obsession with astrology, mainly only did busking in hongdae during the weekends and played some small gigs around seoul until the girls graduated high school. as all four of them came from low income families and as well aware that yeeun was of her families status, they did as much as they could to earn some spending money for themselves. yeeun had always been quite stressed about money and life in general from a young age from watching her parents suffer and was willing to do whatever it would take to succeed to help out her family.
2017; like fate, yeeun stumbled upon an ad for the new survival show, the unit. sure, it was a rebooting show for unknown idols, but considering nova was quite unknown and the filmed one extremely low budget self filmed music video, the girls thought they might as well give it a shot. however, yeeun's nerves were something she never quite got over.
yeeun always seemed to have stage freight before a performance, but once she was on stage she always seemed to be in her zone. although once she sat foot for the audition of the unit in front of the idol mentors, yeeun seemed to forget everything she knew. thankfully, the band itself seemed to win over the hearts of the judges with each member being able to sing stable enough, yeeun got the least amount of votes and barely made it onto the show. sure, she had a strong enough voice, but the confidence was surely lacking.
however, as the show went on, yeeun seemed to gain more and more confidence and return to the charismatic girl she once was on stage. her rankings were constantly going up - but the drama between nova was constantly bringing everyone down.
other members of the group seemed to not want to wait for yeeun to find herself and distanced themselves from being tied down to the nova name or did what ever in their power to stand out from the beginning and once the rankings were out the new found fame went to their heads. as the leader of nova, yeeun blamed herself for the way things were going. she felt like she was only holding everyone back from their potential and became under a lot of pressure. due to this, yeeun wasn't able to practice enough as her focus was elsewhere and ended up getting eliminated from the show in the 58th rank in episode 7.
2018; with the other members of nova still being on the show, yeeun seemed to be sure nova was to disband. yeeun was set to give up her idol dream and started working at her fathers restaurant to help out and did some solo busking on the side. yeeun fell into a state of depression soon after, not knowing what to do with her life anymore.

TRAINEE YEARS. one year and three months
TRAINEE LIFE. yeeun was expecting to fail her audition - not to hear back from big hit a month later and move into the trainee dorms almost immediately. to say she was a little unprepared is an understatement.
throughout her first six months as a trainee, yeeun honestly didn't talk much at all. she knew she had to practice harder than the other trainees since all she really had going for her was her voice and mediocre composer/producer skills. her day typically consisted of her waking up at 6am, being at big hit by 7:30am, having time to self-practice in usually whatever she felt like she was lacking in (dance), starting actual dance training at 10am - noon and then going to lunch. There was a lot of times during her trainee period that she would skip out on lunch and snack instead to insure she had extra time to better herself. after lunch yeeun had vocal training from 1pm-3pm. singing is where yeeun excelled and would always choose ballads for evaluations as they best suited her voice.the rest of the day was free to self practice in whatever she felt like doing. yeeun usually spent her time here learning more about composing and producing music and was usually seen carrying a guitar around.
there were times when yeeun would stay until 1am to practice in the studios, but most of her days she had to work at a part time job to help her parents pay off her trainee dues. yeeun started a job at a cafe nearby her dorm room where she worked three to four days out of the week for five hours. after yeeun closed shop for the day, she usually sacrificed any free time she had to take a bus back to big hit to continue her practice.
