Laine + Marelaine's name is quite long, so people commonly refer to her as Laine, a shortened version. Especially when people are calling for her, they use Laine. + everyone that knows her

Portuguese + fluent + While Marelaine mostly uses Mandarin, she always speaks Portuguese with her mom and her side of the family. Friends love to hear her speak Portuguese because it is fascinating to them, but to Marelaine, speaking Portuguese is of course very normal.

Korean + conversational + Marelaine is not that good at learning languages, so her Korean classes are going a bit slower than the other OACA trainees. But luckily there are always some people around her that can help her out and improve. Even before Produce 101 the redemption was announced, OACA would teach their trainees Korean, in case they ever went there to promote. Marelaine is a person that gathers attention and makes heads turn. She's close to perfect when it comes to visuals, in many people's opinions. She's tall, has nice curves and long legs. She definitely has the body and many girls are jealous of her. She has long, shiny and wavy black hair and her skin is sunkissed. She is obviously Asian, but it also really shows that she has Latina blood in her, having a thicker nose, thicker lips and well... the curves. Overall a stunning girl.

STYLE:

while Marelaine is stunning, her clothing style is actually not that special, except when she's dressed by stylists. She wears what's in fashion, but mostly just wears a t-shirt in a bright color, tucked in her ripped jeans, paired with some nice sneakers and a simple choker. Her make-up is also quite light and natural-looking most of the time. She loves to show off her shoulders and collarbones, so she often wears off-shoulder t-shirts and tops as well. Romantic and flirty: This is what Marelaine is known for. The ultimate seduction. Even when she was still an underage solo artist in china, she was known for her art of flirting. Marelaine loves to see fans and just regular people swoon for her when she uses her advances, it brings her a certain thrill. The thing is, she sometimes does it too much and makes people believe wrongly. This results in misunderstandings and broken hearts, and Marelaine often thinks 'why do I keep doing this?' but she just can't stop her flirting. She's extra flirty and romantic with guys she finds appealing, so her closest friends can see who Marelaine likes the most by watching her flirts.

Mature and kind: Marelaine seems older than her actual age, both on the inside and outside. it might be her brazilian blood that makes her look more mature and curvier than most asians of her age. She is like a big sister, almost a mom to the younger trainees. She's in the lower half in the participant age, but she's mentally one of the oldest, and also one of the most experienced, if not the most. Careless and arrogant: Of course Marelaine is not perfect, just like everyone else. Marelaine doesn't really think about the consequences of her actions, especially with her endless flirting. BACKGROUND:

Marelaine Li was born as the only child of a mixed race family, a rich one, living in a fancy penthouse in Shanghai. She was a beautiful and wellbehaved girl, but since she was half brazilian, people sometimes looked at her weirdly. Once they got to know that Marelaine came from a rich family though, they calmed down and treated her well. Marelaine's father is an actor, very big in China. His Brazilian wife is a doctor. It's a hectic family, but very loving and friendly. They raised their only daughter very well and she grew into a good person who wouldn't hurt a fly. Marelaine was obviously into music ever since she was a little toddler. The best way to calm her down when she was crying was to just put on some good music. Her parents thought that she would be into music for the rest of her life, and maybe even make it her career. And they were right.

Because her dad was a big actor in China, Marelaine herself played some minor roles when she was young as well, but her heart always lied with music. She was more than happy when her parents gifted her her first piano for her birthday, a beautiful cream colored piano that fit perfectly in the house. Marelaine loved to play on it all day, playing pieces she got at piano class, but also just freestyling. It was no surprise to her parents when she said she wanted to become a singer when she was 12. The problem was: she had no skills at all, and she was mixed race, so normally no company would accept her. When she was 14, after following dance and vocal class on her own, Marelaine decided that it was time to start training. It was 2013. She still wasn't exceptional, so the bigger companies rejected her, but then there was Summer star.

In Summer star, they had plans for a boy group, but because Marelaine was developing so well in training, they decided to debut her first, as solo artist. She was beautiful, special, had a huge voice range and could do all three fields decently. Summer star decided to debut her in summer 2015 with a strong, badass and empowering song, even though she was only 16 at that time. She looked more mature, and everyone always thought that was because of her Brazilian blood. The song was strong, and it received good response, partly because she was the daughter of a famous actor, of course. Marelaine was known, but it was not like she was the new it-girl of China. People seemed to be wary of her appearance, mixed race and very strong song and haughty concept. She was intimidating. Every comeback, Summer star toned her intimidatingness down, and increased the trendiness. Marelaine's first release was Queen of queens, exploring her rap and lower vocal range. In late 2015 she made her first comeback with Liu Xing, another song full of self-praise, but it was already less intimidating. In this song, Marelaine rocked the greyish blue hair with black roots, which contrasted greatly against her darker skin. It's definitely a look to bring back.

What made Marelaine explode though was her March 2016 comeback with me vs. me. A catchy bop, that's what it was. That was what Marelaine needed to gain the super star popularity. She was the monster rookie of China, conquering at fast speed. The next comeback came in fall of 2016, a double mv and one of the title tracks was a collaboration with one of the biggest stars of China. Marelaine had met him before, when she guested on a variety show he was a fixed member of, who would become like a big brother to Marelaine after collabing. while the other song was a complete turnaround from her usual concept. It was Show Luo who she collaborated with. Their song was called handsome guy. Through just a year, Marelaine had aquired a huge following, being known for her visuals, voice and flirtiness on stage. But Marelaine didn't feel good anymore, especially after collaborating with Show Luo. She realised how lonely she actually was as solo artist, away from her parents, friends and fellow trainees. Marelaine didn't want to be solo anymore, but in a group, like her labelmates ZOOM. She released a song together with Namie Amuro before deciding to go look for a girl group to debut in.

After coming together with her parents and then having a good talk with Show Luo, Marelaine got adviced to leave Summer Star and go look for a company that would be willing to debut her together with other girls. Show Luo came up with the idea that Marelaine should go to Korea instead. He introduced her to some idols who are or have been active in Korea. First up was Zhang Yixing, a person Marelaine already knew from the variety show. Wang Jackson was next to be introduced. They all said the same thing. It would be hard in Korea, but since Marelaine handled being a solo artist in China perfectly, they expected her to be able to handle it in Korea as well, and that the public would dig her. Marelaine went to Korea, accompanied by Jackson because he was free at that moment. Once he was sure Marelaine arrived safely, he went back to China. She really didn't want him to do that, but Marelaine was still a girl who just became legal, young and vulnerable. Jackson stuck with her. Marelaine took her time to analyse the companies, but no one wanted to accept her for her race. After a few months of trying, Marelaine went back to China, devastated. But on the first day she was back in China, still walking around with suitcase in hand, she got scouted by OACA entertainment... And they did put her in a girl group after a bit more than half a year. Fusion-VII. And now they are back in Korea, to promote their group. And Marelaine is ready to show all the companies she auditioned for that they were dead wrong for not accepting her for her race.

summer star buddy and ex-boyfriend : Wang Zihao (23) / member of ZOOM / emotional, flirty, active / 10/10
Marelaine's best friend. They got to know each other at a young age when they started training at summer star and quickly grew close. They depend on each other a lot and often call or facetime now that they can't see each other as often anymore. They have actually dated before, but it was hidden from the public because yeah, she was borderline underage, and Zihao was legal. The age difference wasn't like dangerously big but still, it was there. They dated in 2016 for 7 months and had an awesome relationship, but when Marelaine decided to leave Summer star, Zihao decided to break up with her. It would be too dangerous now that they didn't have a big roof to meet under. He still likes Marelaine and there is some sort of tension whenever they see each other. Marelaine can't deny that she still feels a lot for him too.

In Marelaine's last solo comeback, she was offered to collaborate with huge veteran star, Show Luo. She was extremely nervous to meet him, but Show Luo, or Luo Zhixiang, was so friendly to her. He acts way younger than his age and is a silly and caring man. He took great care of Marelaine and gave her great advice when she was struggling. Show Luo has grown to be like a big brother to Marelaine, the big brother she never had. Their comeback was a little scandalous, actually, because it was y and all, but Marelaine at that time was 17, and show luo was 37. He has lived double her life, yet they are friends like there is just a few years difference. That's probably cause Show Luo acts younger than his age, and Marelaine older. Oh, and she also guested on a variety show where he's a fixed cast member.

Marelaine knew Yixing from before she went to Korea to try find a company there. Yixing is a great friend of Show Luo, and he met Marelaine when she guested on their variety show Go Fighting. They're friends, but they never had the time to grow closer. Yixing did help her with integrating into Korea, which wasn't needed in the end. He also introduced her to Jackson Wang to get even more advice. It's often a big surprise to people that these two already know each other, but honestly, all the Chinese idols in Korea squad together and plot to take over the world. Marelaine went to Korea to try audition, so they count her as part of that squad now.

Show Luo introduced Yixing to Marelaine and Yixing introduced Jackson to her. This chain reaction was all because they wanted to help Marelaine battle her loneliness. Jackson was the mood lifter at that time. Yes, he did give some good advice, but he was mainly by Marelaine's side to just make her feel better during the times of doubt. Because the other old men had no time to accompany Marelaine to korea, Jackson did it, only to return to China once he knew she had arrived safely. Rich people...

 

 

the leader : Li Zixuan (24) / member of Fusion-VII / sweet, maternal, silly / 8/10
Zixuan is the leader of Fusion-VII, and probably one of the more popular members, second after Marelaine. She is one of the three that participated in Produce 101 China right after they made their debut, and Zixuan ranked the highest. She was #12 (right below the cut line, sadly), and was the theme song's center. Marelaine and Zixuan are good friends, even though they sometimes clash because Zixuan doesn't want marelaine to mother her children.

 

 

The cool one : Alyssa Chen (23) / member of Fusion-VII / active, fun-loving, mannerless / 9/10
Alyssa is Marelaine's closest friend in Fusion-VII together with Lushi. Alyssa seems to be a cool girl, but she's actually a lot of fun to be with. She and Marelaine often work out together and just have fun. Alyssa loves to have fun and therefor sometimes forgets about her manners, make that often... She's quite the tomboy, yeah. She's also on the redemption. Alyssa always dreamt of promoting in Korea. She originally wanted to be an idol in Korea but her first opportunity was a big scam and her parents only allowed her to become idol in China afterwards. (fc: Bomi)

Lin Junyi was another of the Fusion-VII girls who joined produce 101 china. Even though she was initially A grade, she got eliminated with the first elimination. She's a very cute and energetic girl who always seems to be one of the younger members, but is part of the older line. She's really energetic and active, but sometimes gets way too loud.

 

 

the least favourite : Ni Qiuyun (22) / member of Fusion-VII / tough, stubborn, moody / 6/10
Qiuyun is the third one to join Produce 101 China, but also got eliminated at the first elimination, sadly. She is probably the group's biggest tomboy and toughest girl. She's not a bad person, but Marelaine and Qiuyun sometimes clash, and that's why they haven't gotten that close yet, and they're each other's least favourite members. Don't get me wrong though, they're still friends.

 

 

the beauty : Zheng Lushi (21) / member of Fusion-VII / shy, creative, innocent / 9/10
Lushi might not be as popular as most of the other members, Marelaine absolutely loves her. Lushi is the group's shy girl who's always standing there saying nothing because she doesn't know what to say. Marelaine sees her as the prettiest girl of them all, especially when she puts on traditional clothes. Lushi is an amazing dancer and blooms when she dances, and Marelaine will always be cheering for her. Marelaine believes more in Lushi's abilities than she does herself, so when they had to decide on seats, Marelaine pulled Lushi along with her to the top. Lushi was unsure about it, but Marelaine assured her that it was good, because she might be the best female dancer on the show. She will have an adorable freak-out moment on the show, as she is a huge fan of Ding Zeren, and he was her #1 pick on idol producer. (fc: Xu Shiyin)

 

 

the baby : Sun Daxia (16) / member of Fusion-VII / sassy, insecure, naive / 7/10
Daxia only became a trainee right before debut, and was thrown into it last-minute. it was a bad decision because Daxia was seriously behind on the other girls. All of the other members were a bit wary of her because she had this egocentric air around her, but she turned out to be a sassy, but very vulnerable baby. She grew up poor, didn't know what to do now that she had unexpectedly debuted, and really needed comfort from the other girls. Marelaine does baby her, but the one who takes care of little Daxia the most is Alyssa. She's now fully integrated into the group, their cute little baby, and oh boy if anyone ever dares to harm the baby. (fc: Yu Zhiyuan)

 

 

big daddy : Zhao Bolin (25) / member of Absolute-Z, model / flirty, paternal, cowardly / 9/10
Bolin is the oldest and dad of all the OACA trainees. He is also the most experienced together with Marelaine, being a former kpop group member and experienced model. Marelaine knew of him before she joined OACA, so she was very surprised to see him there. They get along very well, and as they are both very flirty, they often battle to see whoever makes a certain person swoon more, and they just flirt a lot with each other just for s and giggles while Bolin is super gay. dumber : Jasper Gao (23) / member of Absolute-Z and Glander / dumb, over-excitable, humorous / 7/10
Marelaine didn't have a great first impression of him, just like most of the others, but Jasper turned out to be a very good guy. Only a bit flawed. He has a few things to work on. He's not really too stable mentally. Marelaine doesn't mind anymore, but still couldn't grow closer to him since Jasper and Marelaine share their competitive spirit, and often bicker over useless things. (fc: Yang Feitong)

 

 

dumb : Xu Haitao (23) / member of Absolute-Z / intelligent but dumb too, arrogant, airheaded / 7/10
Marelaine thinks this kid is really funny, but also super annoying sometimes. Their friendship is really with up and downs, and at one moment, Marelaine will be loving him and mothering him, at other moments she'll want to pull his hair out cause he needs to shut his stupid mouth. the awkward bub : Zhu Junjie (22) / member of Absolute-Z / see his app when it comes! / 8/10
Marelaine thinks this guy is so cute. Junjie has a timid and awkward side to him, and hasn't fully bloomed yet as flower, and Marelaine thinks that's just adorable. She protects him and takes care of him, even though Junjie is way taller. Marelaine is really rooting for him, because he's the most insecure about his skills out of Absolute-Z, so she hopes he gets lots of votes so he can get more confident. the kid : Zhao Deshi (19) / member of Absolute-Z and Glander / humorous, narcissistic, silly / 8/10
Just like his big brother, Deshi gets along quite well with Marelaine. They are only one year apart, but that is really not visible at all, since Marelaine seems older and Deshi is a cute little baby. Deshi sometimes acts just like his brother, jokingly flirting with Marelaine, but when it's Deshi, she'll push him away and scold him, because Marelaine sees him like a little baby. TRAINEE LIFE:

In Summer star, trainee life started out really harsh. Because they saw potential, they were drilling all the skills Marelaine needed into her head at a fast pace while she didn't have much knowledge before that. It was a heavy burden to carry Summer star on her back, but Marelaine fought through it with Zihao on her side and got to debut. Summer star really took advantage of what she had and sometimes Marelaine would get sick from overworking. In OACA, Marelaine was very happy to not be alone anymore. She already had the skills down so it wasn't as hard for her as for others, even though it was still very tiring. She had it hard mentally at the beginning though. She was back to square one, with barely any knowledge of Korean and the country, and away from Zihao and Show Luo. She didn't find any company that wanted her, so she returned to Korea. There she immediately joined OACA who scouted her. Marelaine met a bunch of girls she could share the next years of her life with, and she was miss popular of the company. Many of the other trainees said they were surprised at how Marelaine wasn't fake at all, and they loved her.

y and powerful, definitely. I've been doing these since I was 16. I did a cuter concept once and it was the hardest song ever to record. I could do a ballad too, because I can play the piano very well and could accompany the song live. if we ever do a ballad, I want to do Oner's Sing alone. Please, staff, let it happen.
