Iseul’s friends and loved ones come to admire and depend on Iseul for her optimism. Her unshaken belief that all people are inherently good, perhaps simply misunderstood, lends to an incredibly resilient attitude in the face of hardship. When Iseul first properly met Go Eun in the eighth grade, she was determined to be friends with the girl. However despite her kind and helpful advances, attempting to assist her with home-work etc. Go Eun instead chose to torment Iseul through and through. Iseul regrets having been this wrong in her judgmental, and resents Go Eun for truly not being a kind person. Regardless, a live-and-let-live attitude comes naturally to Iseul, and she dislikes being constrained by unnecessary rules. She once protested the skirt length rules at her school, and presented a fairly comprehensive argument. Even if it impressed her teachers, the administration refused to alter the rules. She is like this Among an a variety of things, though Iseul does gives the benefit of the doubt, so long as her principles and ideas are not being challenged, she’ll support others’ right to do what they think is right. Iseul combines her intuitive nature with her open-mindedness to allow her to see things from unconventional perspectives. Being able to connect many far-flung dots into a single theme, it’s no wonder she is a devoted fan of poets and authors.

While others focusing on the challenges of the moment may give up when the going gets tough, Iseul has the benefit of her far-reaching vision to help her through. Once she forgot an assignment wasn’t due in two days, so Iseul stayed up the whole night hopped up on energy drinks in order to complete it. It was supposed to be a history paper on a time period of her choice, so she chose the Japanese occupation because of the family journals she had. They were written by an uncle who lived during the half time. Iseul ended up getting one of the highest marks, where as a student who was in her similarly shoes only handed in a page and a half of reworded information Fromm the textbook about the Silla dynasty. When something catches Iseul’s passion, the knowledge  that what she is doing is meaningful gives Iseul a sense of purpose and even courage when it comes to accomplishing something she believes in. Iseul is the type of person who has no interest in possessing power over others, and doesn’t much care for domineering attitudes at all. She prefers a more democratic approach, and works hard to ensure that every voice and perspective is heard.

Because of the fact she doesn’t come from a particularly well off family, Iseul has learnt to make due with the little she has to work with. This has gone from simply touching up and altering clothes she gets on sale to look nicer, so she doesn’t stick out among her wealthy peers, all the way to popping her own popcorn at home instead of buying it at the movie theatre even if she has the extra money. Despite her usually level head and considerate personality, she does have a habit of doing things on a whim. If the moment presents itself, she’ll jump at the chance in hopes something amazing will come out of it. While this means she makes great memories, it also means she has her fair share of failures that she needs to pick herself back up from.

These rarely hold her back though, because she is so determined Iseul won’t let these mishaps stop her from achieving her goals. Even so, this also means it’s harder for people to convince her to not do something when she has her mind set on it, regardless of how it will effect her. When it’s the people Iseul cares about, nothing in the world could make her leave them in a lurch. She will to the ends of the earth to protect her family and friends, no matter what obstacles she may face. As far as she sees things, you will have to go through her if you want to hurt the people she loves. But she often doesn’t consider the obstacles that do in fact opt to go through her first.

Iseul sometimes see herself as selfish, but only because she wants to give so much more than she is able to. This becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy, as she tries to push herself to commit to a chosen cause or person, forgetting to take care of the needs of others in her life, and especially herself. The time Chanhee asked Iseul to help with managing his band, she put her whole free time into the job. So much so that her friends barely saw her outside of school, and Minyoung couldn’t ask her for help study for her English exam. It wasn’t till Chanhee had to sit her down and tell her she needed a break, that Iseul realized how neglectful she has become. When something captures Iseul’s imagination, she can neglect practical matters like day-to-day maintenance and simple pleasures. Sometimes Iseul will take this asceticism so far as to neglect eating and drinking as she pursues her passion or cause.

All her overthinking isn’t just for her own benefit – Iseul is a very sensitive person, and cares deeply about others’ feelings. A consequence of her friendly and devoted nature is that others often look to her for guidance and help, which takes time, and it’s easy to see why Iseul sometimes get overwhelmed, especially when she can’t say yes to every request. Even so, Iseul is a relatively private, reserved and self-conscious girl. This makes her notoriously difficult to really get to know at first, and her need for these qualities contributes to the guilt she often feels for not giving more of herself to those she cares about. It take some time and some deep conversations with her, in order for Iseul to feel comfortable enough to be her whole self with someone. Sure she goes out of her way to make new acquaintances, but a truly close friend takes time. Part of this is related to the fact that while emotional expression is healthy and natural, with Iseul even viewing it as a core part of her identity, it can come out strongly enough to cause problems for her. Particularly when under stress, criticism or conflict, Iseul can experience emotional bursts that are counter-productive at best. Damaging at worst.

BACKGROUND.

CHAPTER ONE :: ALL GREAT STORIES START SOMEWHERE

When Mihyun had been admitted to the hospital, she spent the majority of the time painting with water colour. It was her way to release stress, and even if this was her second child, she was definitely still nervous. Thankfully things were going surprisingly on schedule, Chanhee got the day off school so she and Donghae could watch him. The boys had went down to the cafeteria for snacks when Mihyun began to feel contractions that were a lot closer together. By the time they got back the nurses were telling them Mihyun was about 8 cm dilated, and that it was going to be time to push soon.

It was evening when Iseul was welcomed into the world, a beautiful pallet of colour cascading over the sky as Mihyun held her in her arms. Donghae joked about how punctual Iseul would be, since she came on time compared to her brother who was a week late and incidentally takes a long time to get ready for stuff. When they named Chanhee it was because of how warm it was that July, but they were having trouble settling on a name for their daughter. It wasn’t still till Mihyun noticed the dew drops on a fern that sat on the windowpane of the hospital room, that she suggested the name Iseul. It was such a sweet name, and Donghae new that was his daughter the moment he heard it come from his wife’s mouth.

CHAPTER TWO :: THE VICISSITUDES OF LIFE

When Iseul was eight years old, her family moved to Seoul. Her mother got a huge deal to start an art studio, and so Donghae didn’t hesitate to pack up their life and move for her. He started up a home made chicken delivery service, because unlike his previous career as an accountant like his parents wanted, it had been a long time dream of his. Chanhee wasn’t looking forward to moving away from his friends, but by the time they were in Seoul he had softened up to the idea. How could he not? It was the big city after all. The first couple months were perfect just like they planned, Mihyun was settled into her studio, and already had a couple customers.

Donghae has hired a partner to help him run the restaurant, he was an old school friend of Donghae’s named Woobin. He was a great cook, and was a good help with the kids. When Woobin found out about Chanhee’s passion for guitar, he told him about how his brother owned a vintage shop filled with old records from the 50 all the way to the 70s. They got on straight away because of this, and it didn’t take long for Iseul and Minyoung to get to know him. He always told funny stories, and they loved watching him cook with their Dad.

It was getting close to Chanhee’s sixteenth birthday, just a couple months left to go, when tragedy struck the family. Donghae has made plans to take Chanhee out camping, and enjoy some father and son bonding. Iseul was helping her dad plan everything out. They had decided that snacks were needed, but they would need a cooler for that. They didn’t have one, so Donghae decided to head out to purchase one. On his drive home, the roads were relatively spacious. You wouldn’t think there was anything to worry about. Except there always is.

A man had just been fired from his job at Samsung, and was driving home drunk. He was paying hardly any attention to the road, and instead blasting the latest hit song over the radio, as he chugged down a sixth beer. It took only a few seconds. One swerve. Then the man’s car was slamming into the side of Donghae’s. It caused Donghae’s care to spin, before hitting a lamppost on the side of the road. A by stander who had been walking their dog, quickly called 119. Mihyun got a call while she was working on her pottery, but dropped the clay as she dashed for the door, hurriedly calling Woobin in a hysteria.

When they got the hospital, it wasn’t long before Donghae was gone. Chanhee punched the wall of the hospital, and Woobin had to restrain him since the fits of rage where scaring his sisters. The girls were clutching onto their mother’s legs and waist, as they sobbed. When the doctor came to speak with them about arrangements, Woobin told Mihyun not to worry about it, he would take care of things. She was very greatful for him, since he continued to help out their family. He took over the restaurant and kept it running, he also helped Mihyun plan funeral arrangements so she wasn’t alone. Soon after, he started staying at home with the Park family, and sleeping on their couch. Right around this time, Iseul had become an avid writer. She dabbled in it as a kid, but now began to use it as a coping mechanism.

CHAPTER THREE :: STRENGTH TO CONTINUE ON

By the time Iseul was twelve and entering Middle School, Woobin and Mihyun had been married for a year. It was inevitable considering how much he cared for the family, and how close he and Mihyun had grown. It was a little odd for Chanhee since he was so much older then his sisters, but he still really liked Woobin. He helped Chanhee start up his band after all, and even helped him turn their basement into a sound proof room for band practice and recording sessions. If Chanhee would have any stepfather, he would want it to be Woobin. Iseul and Miyoung on the other hand, were fairly young, which meant they got used to calling Woobin dad sooner then later.

Things finally seemed to be normal in the life of Park Iseul. For the majority of seventh grade things were normal. She was developing her writing skills, and got her first official journal. Iseul didn’t have a lot of close friends, but she didn’t mind too much since she had her little sister and preferred spending free periods drawing in her sketchbook or writing, as she tuned out the extensive gossip of the other girls her age. Most of their conversations involved bra sizes, boy bands, and trendy accessories. None of this interested Iseul, which is why she enjoyed being able to keep to herself.

When eighth grade rolled around, the things she used to find silly and unimportant, were quickly gaining her interest. She wasn’t a boy band girl or caught up on expensive clothes, however as her body was developing, so was her feelings for her class president. Kim Junyoung seemed to be the most perfect of boys. He wasn’t silly or obnoxious, he was cute and kind. Unfortunately Lee Go Eun had her eyes set on him as well. She was by all accounts, Iseul’s living nightmare. What started out as Iseul attempting to make friends, ended up with Go Eun beginning her rain of terror over Iseul’s life. Starting with taking Junyoung for herself. Continuing with a barrage of bullying tactics, such as stolen shoes, destroyed homework, and whipped cream in her locker. Her parents tried to cheer Iseul up by getting her a dog, and it did make her feel a bit better. However Go Eun’s rain of terror wouldn’t stop.

Thankfully Go Eun’s father got some big promotion, because by ninth grade she was attending some other school for wealthy kids. Which meant Iseul could finally enjoy a peaceful year. Grade nine was one of the best years yet. She made some really good friends such as Kang Mina who was a regular at the restaurant, and a dedicated reader of Iseul’s stories in between classes. Iseul also finally got over her crush on Junyoung, and her grades were top of her class. They were so high in fact, when it came to choosing a high school, her parents were surprised by how many options Iseul had. Her homeroom teacher even held a meeting with Mihyun and Woobin to discuss the possibility of her attending Jeguk High through their Pegasus Scholarship Program. Iseul was delighted by this, and seeing how happy it made her, Woobin and Mihyun were pleased to oblige.

CHAPTER FOUR :: THE REAL JOURNEY BEGINS

When Iseul started attending Jeguk, she was very excited. She made a lot of friends in her clubs and was doing exceptionally well in her classes. This of course meant that the only thing that could ruin this for her, would ruin it for her. Lee Go Eun. Of all the people from her old school that could end up attending Jeguk, it had to be Lee Go Eun. Naturally the girl took it upon herself to make Iseul’s high school years even worse then Middle School. She would whisper cruel things behind her back, steal her stuff as usual, and lock her in storage rooms and closets where she can’t get out. It was an utter nightmare, except this time Iseul had friends who would help stick up for her and help her out when she needed it.

Friends like these made high school bearable. With them by her side, Iseul is able to stay in the top ten of her school, and managing a part time job on the side. However around late grade ten is when Chanhee asked Iseul to help him manage his band for a while. This goes ok for a while, but eventually it becomes hard for her to manage on top of her own social life. Chanhee loves the heck out of his little sister, but thought it would be best she focus on her schooling. He believed she would be best as an additional manager on the side when she got the chance. This thankfully gives Iseul the chance to spend more time with her friends again, and keep her grades on track.

Grade eleven is where her friends start to all begin crushing on her older brother, since his band is getting more popular and she always had backstage passes for their gigs. When he picks her up after school there is always a group of girls squealing their heads off at the sight of him. It definitely annoys her, but she is glad this bit of fame has made it harder for Go Eun to mess with her. Iseul was starting to think they were getting too old for that nonsense anyway. Soon enough they would be in senior year and they wouldn’t have time to, or shouldn’t have the time, to torment people. There would be too many important near adult issues to deal with.

To Iseul’s delight, Go Eun does tone down the torment quiet a bit. However instead of it being for maturity reasons, it’s because she is instead too preoccupied by her new fiancé. You wouldn’t think engaged teens to be normal, but at a school filled with students who are practically heirs to their own kingdoms, match making via parents isn’t that far fetched. Han Jisung is the heir to Han Group, the appliances and electronics company based out of South Korea. practically every home has some sort of appliance from his family’s company. He is one of the most sot after son-in-laws, and Go Eun was the lucky girl thanks to Han Group’s recent acquisition of Go Eun’s father’s company. He would be the CFO for the new branch, and she would be the future Queen of Han Group, or at least, that’s what the plan was.

CHAPTER FIVE :: OUR FLEETING YOUTH

The start of senior year was a lot more then Iseul had planned for. Sure her new dorm had some really nice girls and couple of her close friends, sure she finally had the opportunity to properly sit down and write her novel, and sure her grades were flourishing as usual...but there was something else weighing on Iseul’s mind. Near the end of summer holidays in mid-August, one of the popular kids threw a huge welcome back party for the soon to be seniors, and it took place at her uncle’s beach resort. Everyone had a blast over that weekend, and it was a great way to kick off the new school year. Except one tiny, not so tiny, problem. Han Jisung.

He and Iseul talked for a while at the party about this and that, which gave Iseul slight nerves. She had never talked so casually with anyone like him before. Eventually she asked him what he was doing in that room talking with her, when Go Eun was out dipping stuff in chocolate and drinking soju with everyone else while trap music blared around them. He said that no matter how much money or how many business deals her father made with his father, it wouldn’t change how much of a dull dud she was. Iseul told him that was mean to say, even if it was true, and he laughed. He liked how weird Iseul was. She then made a comment about how the English word for weird came from Germanic meaning something that is fated. He leaned in closely to her, absolutely entranced by her. How had she not caught his eye more often?

That night there was a knock on her hotel room door, to which Iseul expected Won Hee to finally get back (Hee ended up crashing at a different friend’s hotel room). However instead, she found Jisung looking at her with wistful eyes. She attempted to say something, but he cut her off with his lips pressing against her’s. They stumbled into her room, with the door locking behind them. A flurry of emotion and a little lingering alcohol lead the two teens into a night of passion. When she woke up the next morning Iseul found a note from Jisung telling her he left early to make sure her friend didn’t find them. He said what a nice time he had talking with her, and how incredible she was. This of course gave Iseul goose bumps.

So you would understand her disappointment on their first day back at school, to see Go Eun kissing Jisung. But somehow that heart break wasn’t the worst thing to happen at the start of senior year. Nope. Finding out Iseul was pregnant was the worst things. Of course she didn’t tell anyone. She had been vomiting a lot, so she decided to take a test just in case. She has seen this sort of thing on tv, and wanted to make sure she didn’t have to worry. However when the test came back positive she definitely did worry. Almost immediately after finding out the trust, Iseul was acting out of character. She was “sick” in her dorm for a few days, and even when she was back in class, her grades were at a slow decline. However none of this was enough to make anyone suspicious.

What did make people suspicious, was at the start of September  when Iseul passed out in physical education, and refused to let the nurse run any tests on her. Then in October after Ch’usok, Iseul completely neglected to hand in or even start, a physics assignment. Even if Iseul preferred the arts, she had made it clear to everyone what she was taking physics because she needed the credits, and that she would make sure she got good grades in it no matter what. Since this was a first offence for Iseul, Shin Hye would ordinarily let her off with a warning and tell her she expected more from her. But due to the four other students who hadn’t turned in their homework, Shin Hye’s patience was all but drained. As a result, she yelled at Iseul and demanded she give her twenty push ups.

This overwhelmed Iseul and she run out of class. The next day Shin Hye insisted Iseul stay behind in class because she needed to talk to her. What started out with Shin Hye giving Iseul extra homework, resulted in Iseul balling her eyes out because of the hormones. Shin Hye was taken aback, and tried to comfort Iseul, asking her what was wrong. Eventually Iseul couldn’t hold back any longer, and told her teacher she was pregnant. Shin Hye was even more surprised, but also extremely concerned. So she told Iseul that she would take her to a doctor, and they would get things checked out. When they did, the doctor confirmed that Iseul was nine weeks pregnant. Which meant she had three weeks left if she wanted to theoretically have an abortion.

Shin Hye escorted Iseul back to her dorms, and on the way told her that she needed to be very sure of her choice and what she wanted to do. At the dorm, Iseul is confronted by No Eul, who was holding Iseul’s pregnancy test. Iseul expected an out burst from Eul, but instead she simply pulled Iseul into a tight hug, promising Iseul that she would support her. After this it wasn’t long before all the girls in the Daffodil dorm knew about their extra roommate (the baby). They each had different opinions, some thinking she should keep it, others that it would be best for her to get an abortion. However Iseul truly had no idea what to do.

In physical education, Go Eun threw a ball at Iseul’s head. She fell over and Shin Hye who had been walking past the field with Jun, quickly ran over to check on her. Iseul’s dorm mates did as well, and they took her to the nurse’s office. Shin Hye was able to convince Iseul that she needed to tell her parents the truth, and soon they were at the school. Shin Hye called Principle Choi into the nurse’s office as well, as she helped Iseul tell him and her parents about the baby. Principle Choi was dumbfounded, and Min Sung Wook was adamant they expel her from the school. Shin Hye and the other female teachers were against this, especially because of how high Iseul’s grades typically were. Jun made the point that other schools were criticized for their treatment of pregnant teens with high grades, and that the schools were throwing away these kids’ futures for simply making a mistake. Jeguk had the opportunity to give it the reputation of putting it’s student’s educations first and foremost under absolutely any circumstances.

With this in mind, it was agreed that Iseul could stay at school, and that she would be well taken care of by her dorm mates, teachers, and the school nurse. Mihyun and Woobin would be sure to visit as often as they could on weekends. However there were two last strings that needed to be tied up. The first was the matter of abortion. Would she do it? Well, considering how anti-abortion her mother was, there was no question about it. Iseul was keeping the baby. But with that settled, everyone needed to know...who was the father? After lots of insistence, Iseul finally admitted it was Han Jisung, and Principle Choi immediately contacted him and his parents. Iseul and her parents were in the principle’s office when the Han family showed up.

Jisung quickly hugged Iseul and apologized profusely to her. She wouldn’t be in that situation if it weren’t for him after all. However, quickly his father was insisting on an abortion. Iseul started crying, and her mother refused to hear anything of the sort. The baby was being born without a question. Jisung’s mother tried to reason with her husband, by telling him this would be his first grandchild, and a future heir for the company. This softened him a bit, but he expressed that the child would be illegitimate since Jisung was arranged to marry Lee Go Eun. They then agreed that the baby would be born, but there was still more that needed to be dealt with.

Unfortunately for Go Eun, after she overheard Jisung’s parents discussing the baby one night in private when she and her parents were over for supper, Go Eun decided to take things into her own hands. Go Eun decided to spread the rumour of Iseul’s pregnancy around the school through a series of anonymous text messages. She hoped that this would hurt Iseul and make her drop out of school. On the contrary, while it did make Iseul feel scrutinized at school by many of the kids, it also meant that Jisung’s parents couldn’t keep it a secret. Because of this, they decided to break off Jisung’s engagement to Go Eun. Her father could keep his job, but the engagement was off. They wanted Jisung to marry Iseul now.

RELATIONSHIPS.

Mother + Step-Father | Ahn Mihyun + Ahn Woobin | 43 + 44 | Freelance Artist + Resturant Owner | face claim

Iseul’s relationship with her parents is very close, and very important to her. Her father passed away when she was little, so Iseul cherishes family a lot. Her mother is the one who infused Iseul’s artistic nature into her, and taught her how to paint, draw, and even a little bit of sculpting. They like spending mother daughter time together when Iseul is visiting home from school, where they can work on some big art project of Mihyun’s. Sort of like the paint balloon scene from Princess Diaries. Iseul’s relationship with her step-father is close as well, as she does refer to him as her dad. He raised her since she was nine pretty much. He runs the family restaurant and Iseul likes to go into the kitchens to help him out sometimes. When Donghae passes away Woobin was really supportive and encouraging of Iseul’s writing since it helped her cope. Neither were excited about the news that Iseul was pregnant and barely out of high school, but they also love her and want to support her and help her become a good mother.

Brother | Park Chanhee | 26 | Lead Vocal of Neverland | EXO’s Chanyeol

Chanhee is the protective older brother type threw and threw. He calls his sisters once a day at least to make sure they are ok and to ask if they need him to do anything for them. He is a lot older then the girls, so he is like a father figure in a way as well. He would help them with their homework and play dress up with the girls when their parents were busy. But don’t let his band mates know that! He is the lead vocal and guitarist of Neverland, which is an indie rock band Chanhee started with some of his college friends. He worked at recording studios for a long time, and eventually got the opportunity to record tracks with his own band. They are gaining lots of popularity and play a lot of gigs. They first got popular when they released their cover album Nostalgia, which was a compilation of a bunch of different covers like Panic! At the Disco, Nell, U2, and the Korean rock legend himself Shin Joong Hyun. Iseul was helping manage her brother’s band at the time of release, and jokes that they got popular because of her. They are working on their original album now, and Chanhee is writing a song for Iseul about her and the baby and how he wants her to know he’ll always be there for her.

Sister | Park Miyoung | 16 | High School Freshman | iz*one’s Wonyoung

Miyoung was Iseul’s best friend for the longest time, and stills is. They are extremely close, and talk all the time. They joke that they are twins even if Iseul was born two years earlier then Miyoung. She is a freshman starting high school at a different school, but wishes she could go to Jeguk so she could see her sister more often. Miyoung is really looking forward to being an auntie. She called Iseul when the news of a pregnant teen at Jeguk had spread to Miyoung’s school. She is very supportive and even if she doesn’t see her sister as often, they text all the time. They don’t have the same interests, since Miyoung is more into music arts like their brother (Miyoung plays classical instruments), but their love for the arts in general is something they bond over.

Dormmate | No Eul | 18 | High School Senior | fromis_9’s Seoyeon

No Eul and Iseul weren’t that close at first, since even if they were both studious Pegasus students, Eul was a lot more intense then Iseul. They never disliked each other though. When Eul was tidying up the dorm and going threw the trash bins, she found a positive pregnancy test in Iseul’s trash, and was absolutely shocked. She kept it to herself, and spent the whole time till Iseul got back to contemplate and think it over. Of all the prominent thoughts she had, Eun realized she was mostly just worried for Iseul. When Iseul found out Eul knew, she was prepared to be yelled at. But was surprised at the hug she got instead. Eul is one of Iseul’s biggest supporters, and they became very close after this. Eul makes sure Iseul is still getting good grades, and they study together lots. As the Vice President, Eul also helps to subdue some of the bullying and negative treatment Iseul gets from students because of the pregnancy. Because of all this, Iseul decides to make Eul her child’s godmother, but she keeps this decision a secret till the birth.

Dormmate | Won Hee | 18 | High School Senior | iz*one’s Yena

Iseul and Hee were dormmates in freshman year, and since they are also in arts club together, and both have to deal with the school being obsessed over their hot brothers, the two girls became fast friends. Hee brings out the more wild and adventurous side of Iseul, which prior to meeting Hee, Iseul didn’t know she had. Hee was the reason Iseul was even at the senior year party, so in a way Hee blames herself for Iseul getting pregnant. Hee’s guilt manifested even more when it turned out she was the last of their dormmates to realize Iseul was growing a baby in her tummy. It took lots of convincingly on Iseul’s part to assure Hee that none of it was Hee doing. After the fact though, Hee became super supportive and is constantly trying to help Iseul come up with baby names. She posts videos of the two going shopping for the baby together and other baby related content once in an while, on her YouTube channel.

Rival | Lee Go Eun | 18 | High School Senior | Produce 48’s Eunchae

Go Eun hates Iseul, and while Iseul doesn’t like Go Eun in the slightest, she realized it took too much energy out of her to hate Go Eun all the time. Still, they are definitely rivals. Especially in regards to Jisung. Iseul is having his baby, and Go Eun feel like Iseul is stealing everything that is rightfully hers. She tries to sabotage Iseul and Jisung’s relationship, and has even tried to convince Jisung that he doesn’t want to be a Dad. Drama follows her like a magnet. However Iseul hadn’t let that get in her way, and does her best to get back at Go Eun with the help of her friends. Go Eun once tried to get pregnant to try and get attention like Iseul, but she ended up finding out its almost impossible for Go Eun to conceive a child. She was distraught, and Iseul tried to help her come to terms with things, and tell her that when it was Hee time to be a mother, there were lots of options out there.

Study Buddy | Do Seungchul | 17 | High School Junior | Golden Child’s Seungmin

Seungchul is a study buddy of Iseul’s from the grade below her. He likes a lot of the same books that she does, and they have really long conversations about history and literature together. He has developed an obsessive crush on Iseul, since she is one of the only girls that talks to him, and she stood up for him about his glasses and eye stigmatism that some kids were messing with him about. When he learns that Iseul is pregnant and that Jisung is the father, Seungchul is super jealous and blows Jisung’s imperfections our of proportion because he doesn’t think he is worthy to be the father of Iseul’s baby. Seungchul tries to use the times Jisung messes up to make himself look better, and tries to get Iseul to consider him as a better father.

BACKGROUND.
Jisung was born into a family where he was worshipped right off the bat. He is the only Han heir, yet exactly the child his parents could have asked for. His mother Han Seomin was obsessed with her baby boy, and showered Jisung with affection. All through his childhood he was athletic, popular, and did well in his classes. In junior high was when Han Junsung introduced his son to the company life. He told him what his future was destined to be, and the man he would become. Which, surprisingly, Jisung was excited about.
He idolized his father, and wanted to be just like him. His dad told him that even if he was a CEO, he could still do some of the hobbies he enjoyed. This was what opened Jisung’s mind up to being the heir to the company. However he always enjoyed visiting his dad’s work to see the way the company functioned regardless. Jisung was so excepting of this path in life, that he didn’t object to an arranged marriage when his parents approached him about it in high school.
When Jisung entered Jeguk, he knew it was for his own good and for his future. He was a little intimidated by it’s reputation, but soon enough it passed. Jisung was athletic, easily likeable, and did reasonably well in class...he was popular instantly. Even more so when he was accepted onto the basketball team. Jisung has a wide array of “friends”, but there is just a small circle that he considers his truly close friends, this includes Shin.
In grade eleven when his parents introduced him to Go Eun, Jisung was open to the idea. She seemed nice at first, and so he spent a lot of time with her wanting to get to know her. It helped that they had a few of the same classes and that she could instantly show owed up to his basketball practices. However as that progressed he realized he didn’t like her personality in the slightest. So he tried to ignore it by spending their time doing the least amount of talking as possible. They made out a lot, done hand stuff, but never gone all the way.
Every time they were almost there, Go Eun would do something or say something that would remind Jisung of how fake she was, and how disconnected he felt from her. This grew worse and worse as the year progressed and turned into summer. So by the time Jisung was at the summer senior party, he was at his limit. He felt trapped. Until Jisung passed out behind a couch and was woken up by Park Iseul. She was completely different then Go Eun, and as they talked it fascinated him to no end.
Finding out he was going to be a teen father later on was not what he expected, and not what he was ready for. However he was prepared to take it on. He was the perfect son for so long, and yet he managed to screw up this bad. But he wouldn’t disappoint his parents again and be a lousy father. He was going to commit to his education, his child, and to his future career....somehow....Jisung isn’t quiet sure how he’s gonna do this. But he’s definitely working on it. His friends are a huge help.

LOVE STORY.
Jisung knew of Iseul prior to their actual first time talking, because of Shin. He is close friends with Shin, who is best friends with Won Hee, who in turn is friends with Iseul. So they were acquaintances for most of high school. However considering Go Eun and Jisung were together, Iseul and Jisung obviously weren’t close. However Iseul was invited to the senior year party because of her friend Won Hee, but she had been unintentionally left behind in favour of a chocolate fountain and a soju chugging contest.
This meant Iseul was wondering around the party all alone, until she found a mostly abandoned lounge. She sat on a couch, and was surprised to find Jisung sleeping behind said couch. She tried to rouse him, and thankfully it worked. She told him she was half worried he was dead, to which he laughed and told her he practically was. They talked for a little while about this and that, which gave Iseul slight nerves. She had never talked so casually with anyone like him before. Eventually she asked him what he was doing in there sleeping and talking with her, when Go Eun was out coating stuff in chocolate.
He said that no matter how much money or how many business deals her father made with his father, it wouldn’t change how much of a dull dud she was. There wasn’t an inch of anything genuine in her, and it was just annoying at this point. The year prior he was able to tolerate it. But this year, it was too much. Even just the sound of her laugh gave him a headache. Iseul told him that was mean to say, even if it was true, and he laughed again. He liked how weird she was. Iseul then made a comment about how the English word for weird came from Germanic meaning something that is fated. He leaned in closely to her, absolutely entranced by her. How had she not caught his eye more often?
Unfortunately Go Eun showed up, and dragged him off as she made some remark about Iseul needing to back off. Iseul was used to that sort of thing, so she decided to go and find Hee and let her know she was going back to their room to sleep. That night there was a knock on the door, and at first Iseul thought it was Hee, but was surprised to find Jisung there. He only hesitated a moment before kissing her, and pulled back a moment to see if it was ok with Iseul. She kissed him back and soon enough the door was locked and their clothes were being thrown around the room. Iseul wouldn’t have done this in any other circumstance, except that she was absolutely charmed by Jisung and could hardly think rationally. Besides....they had both drank enough to fog their inhibitions.
Jisung left early in the morning to avoid Iseul’s hotel roommate (Hee) from finding them, but left a note for her. This made Iseul very happy, and she believed she and Jisung had a chance. Unfortunately they didn’t see each other again till the start of the school year. When she finally did encounter him, but unlike what she expected, Jisung was kissing Go Eun on their first day back. Because of this she tried her best to keep to herself and have him not notice her at school. However they still ended up having awkward encounters on occasion, such as being the last two students left to clean the classroom and needing to be along together, or being pared together for an in class assignment.
It isn’t till the school contacts Jisung’s parents about Iseul’s pregnancy, that they finally properly spend time together. The two spend more free time together talking about the baby, preparing for parenthood, and even their eventual impending wedding. They first decide they should try and just be friends even if they are getting married and having a baby. Especially when they don’t know each other well enough. Both Go Eun and Seungchul use this opportunity to try and turn them against one another, because Seungchul wants Iseul to think he would be a better father then Jisung, and Go Eun wants to be on top again and have her boyfriend and future back.
However even if people are trying to pull them apart, Iseul and Jisung still only truly have each other, and not one else understands what they are going threw as teen parents. They relay on each other more and more, and spend as much time as they can together getting to know each other better. Iseul begins attending his basketball games and he will come and say hi to her when he as a break, and give her tummy a kiss to say hi to the baby. There is lots of drama and good times between them, but eventually the time for when the two of them are supposed to get married comes along and it’s a tough situation because people think Iseul is late because she is running away and not wanting to marry Jisung, but then they find out that she is missing because she was locked in a closet by Go Eun.
Iseul and Jisung get married, and even if their parents show them the place they will be living in together, they won’t be moving in till they graduate. At this point are still “only friends” even if they have developed deep feelings for each other. It isn’t till Jisung impulsively kisses Iseul after they argue heatedly over Seungchul, do things start to move forward. However not like you would expect. Iseul leaves quickly and goes back to her dorm where she has a panic attack and Eul comes in and helps her calm down because it wouldn’t be good for the baby. The other girls show up and they have a girl talk, where Iseul admits even if she loves Jisung, she still feels as though it’s too good to be true for them to be together. How often do teens who gets pregnant end up with their baby daddies?
The girls tell Iseul that if they truly love each other, are married, and love their child, they’ll be able to work through their problems. Even if it is unlikely, if they worked hard in the relationship they could be happy together. There is hope. So Iseul goes to find Jisung and she admits she loves him too, and they kiss, and he kisses her tummy, and they kiss again. Then Iseul’s water breaks! They quickly call Eul and Shin, who both end up telling Hee simultaneously lol (Hee is on the phone with Shin and in the same room as Eul). Then they find/contact some of the teachers and they hurry to get Iseul on her way to the hospital, contacting her parents on the way.
Iseul is lucky she doesn’t have to have a C section, which is something they were worrying about because of her smaller frame, but since the baby was small everything was fine for a natural birth. Her mother and Jisung’s mother are the ones in the delivery room with her, as Jisung waits nervously outside the door. Their friends and a couple teachers are also outside in the waiting room awaiting the news. The gender of the baby is up to you guys, or maybe there could be a poll and everyone votes on what they want Iseul and Jisung’s baby to be.
As for Jisung and Iseul’s ending together, I have an image of them in university, with Iseul coming home to her mom babysitting the baby, as they do arts and crafts together (because of course Mihyun would be artsy with her grandbaby) and she gives them both a hug/kiss, before going to prepare dinner. Her mom is later helping set the table, as Iseul is tending to the baby, and Jisung gets home from university/work at his dad’s company. He gives the baby and Iseul both a kiss and they have a family dinner together. That is sort of what I picture, but you guys can pick their ending if you feel like it should be something else.

CLASSES.

Iseul has always had an affinity to the arts and humanities, as well as anything linguistic. However the sciences were never a strong suit. Which is why when it came to additional subjects and the need for a minimum of three, her third choice was the science subject she was best at. Physics. Other then that, mathematics and physical education, most of Iseul’s schedule is geared toward her favoured subjects.

CLUBS.

LITERATURE CLUB :: It is a bit of a no brainer to see Iseul in the literature club, since she is one of the most vocal and dedicated members. Her love for the written word is unparalleled in most regards, except when you meet the rest of the literature club. She feel so at home there, and loves to be able to talk to other students who understand her passion. She met her friend Seungchul here, and likewise Iseul has met most of her close friends in clubs.

ARTS AND MUSIC CLUB :: She got to know her friend Won Hee in arts and music club. This is the club where Iseul’s other artistic side emerges. Most of the time you find Iseul working on pottery or landscape paintings, since those are the art forms her mother taught her. She isn’t personally musically inclined all that much, but thanks to her siblings Iseul has a passion for it and is very supportive of the musical students.

VOLUNTEERS CLUB :: If it wasn’t obvious by now, Iseul is very much a do-gooder, and enjoys helping other people out. So it makes sense that she is one of the most active members of the volunteers club. She loves planning their events and organizing gatherings for the group. She is their Chief Organizer for a reason, because of how good she is at putting timestables and job assignment sheets together for the other members to follow.

JEGUK GOLDEN PEGASUS PROGRAMME.  When Iseul’s junior high homeroom teacher noticed the advanced level at which Iseul could read, write and understand English, she was astounded. Soon her other teachers began to pick up on the incredible potential Iseul had in her linguistic subjects and other humanities. Her other corses had good grades as well. However it was clear Iseul had the makings of a protege. Her homeroom teacher suggested Iseul be enrolled at Jeguk, and soon enough, she was getting a scholarship. At Jeguk there is already talk about what a future Iseul could have in Human Resources, or a future as an Ambassador, or even a Language Professor. Her future is wide open, and universities are taking notice.

‘ WHAT IS YOUR FIRST IMPRESSION OF JEGUK HIGH AS A FRESHMAN? WAS IT THE SAME AS WHAT YOU'VE HEARD? ’
Well at first I wasn’t sure what to think of Jeguk. I suppose it was a little daunting, since my junior high homeroom teacher handed me a pamphlet for such a prestigious and wealthy school. I didn’t think I could at all fit in here. As a senior now though, I have sort of learnt many of my fears were baseless, because the heart of Jeguk is just like any school. However I definitely feel as though it’s still a little hard to fully fit in with many of the other kids, but over all there are many great people here.

‘ HOW DO YOU FEEL ABOUT YOUR DORMMATES? ’
My dormmates are great! I have known Hee for a while now since we were previously dormmates once before a while ago. The other girls are mostly nice, a few not so much. Eul is very nice and is always supportive of me and there to help me when I need her.

‘ WHAT IS YOUTH, ACCORDING TO YOU? ’
There is this quote from one of my favourite authors that I think about a lot when it comes to this:

“We were young, and we had no need for prophecies. Just living was itself an act of prophecy.”

― Haruki Murakami, The Wind-Up Bird Chronicle

It makes me think that there is something about being young that is so free and magical for us. We have no limits and can shape our own destinies. Sometimes being young might be hard, but I would never wish to forget all this.

‘ WHAT IS ONE THING THAT YOU WANT TO TELL YOUR JUNIORS BEFORE YOU LEAVE SCHOOL? ’
I guess....don’t try and grow up too fast. Cherish the time you have now as a kid, as a teenager, because one day that might change and you’ll have to face the adult world. I know from experience, what with being pregnant. Speaking of which...don’t get pregnant!

‘ WILL YOU MISS JEGUK HIGH? ’
Part of me is looking forward to the rest of my life, since I’ll be pursuing my career as an author and a teacher. I’ll be raising my baby as well...there are so many great things ahead! But I can’t deny that I will miss this place. So many incredible memories were made here, the good amongst the bad, and I am so glad for all of it.

LAST WORDS.   I AM SO SORRY THIS IS SO LONG!! I just got so excited and inspired so this all sorts just happened lol I hope you like her!! She is assentially a classic rock listening bookworms obsessed with movies and art. I was trying to make her an interesting and unique character on her own, so that she wasn’t  soley defined by her pregnancy despite it being a big part of her story. I also picture Jisung and Shin beings close friends because they are both popular, and will probs be in the same dorm. Iseul and Eul’s friendship is super cute to me and I think Eul would be a great godmother. As for the song I chose for the password, I picked it because it’s about summer romance, fleeting youth, teenage years, and is classic rock, which is right up Iseul’s alley. I don’t know if you guys would like the song, or classic rock or rock in general lol, but I’m a huge fan and obviously so is Iseul lol I just thought this song fit so perfectly :)

SCENE REQUESTS.

• A literal scene were Jisung is complaining to Shin about how he knows more about milk then what they did in trigonometry, and Shin responding by saying “You do realize you were asleep when we learnt trig right?” And the Jisung exclaiming “I know! Because I was up so late learning that the influence of the hormones prolactin and oxytocin produce milk initially referred to as colostrum, which is high in the immunoglobulin IgA, that coats the gastrointestinal tract. Which protect the baby until its immune system functions properly.” After this I imagine Shin standing there completely bewildered lol

• Eul finding out she is the godmother and bursting into tears

• All the girls bonding and having a girls night where they have pillow fights, do facials, have treats, and listen to music

• Iseul wanting to name their kid after a Shakespeare character and everyone giving her sense strange looks so she awkwardly agrees to pick something else lol

• Seungchul and Jisung both going with Iseul’s to do baby related stuff (shopping, maybe an ultrasound) and they low key compete with eachother to see who is the better father

• Go Eun getting new what she deserves #justice #karma

• SENIOR PRANKS!!!

• Iseul reading novels out loud to her baby in her tummy

• Iseul beings  total book author and trappings herself in her dorm to write all weekend (comedic scenes with this for sure)

• Iseul’s making the other girls watch her fav movies, and what starts out as everyone being reluctant, ends with all the girls crying together at the end of A Tale Of Two Cities

• Hee doing some sort of pregnancy related video on YouTube with Iseul

• A funny scene where Hee finally realizes Iseul’s is pregnant, and her mind is completely blown because how did she not notice this before ?? Lol

• Iseul jamming out to her music, and one of the other girls looking at her i  shock, before turning on their modern music, and  they low key have a Mexican stand off with eachother before Eul comes in and tells them to both shut it off because she is trying to study and needs quiet lol

• More when I think of them...
