APPEARANCE : 

— Venus is really your typical high-classed pureblood. Her whole appearance just screams 'elegance' and 'well-born'. With a small, pale face, sharp, high cheekbones, structured jawline, cold grey-blue eyes and white blonde hair that falls down her back. As much as she hates it, she and Draco were often mistaken as siblings or twins sometime by strangers when standing next to each other due to their similar features. Pale complexion, white blond hair, cold grey eyes and all. She hates to admit it but she really could pass as a Malfoy. Venus is also tall, thin and model-like, though because of this she barely has any chest.

STYLE :

— Despite coming from a Pureblood family, you would think she would dress well and properly like a true pureblood but no. Her Hogwarts uniform is often worn sloppily. Her blouse are often untucked, Slytherin tie sloppily wrapped around the collar and left untied until someone does it for her (with a judgmental look on their faces), she rarely wears her jumpers and only drapes her robe over. She is an overall untidily dressed girl. Her family learnt of her lazy habits of wearing clothes and decided she should just be forced into a simple yet elegant and warm dress with boots.

The Sorting Hat barely grazes on her hair and the word "SLYTHERIN" has already been shouted. It's not because most of her family members is a Slytherin or a Pureblood, and/or a Dark Lord supporter, but it's because of Venus' personality alone. Even as a young child, she has always had a drive. A thirst for success. She's not a Ravenclaw, she has no greed for knowledge believe it or not, nor is she brave like a Gryffindor, nor is she a Hufflepuff because Venus would be the worst Hufflepuff ever. Venus a girl who works for herself and herself only. She would dig dirt and bone for what she wants. She would even admit it to herself that, yes - she's quite a selfish person, but she works hard and mad for what she wanted and what more can they say?

Like a true Slytherin, she is resourceful, ambitious and cunning. She is clever and is quick to solve problems. There's no such thing as 'impossible' in her dictionary, but 'solutions' is definitely a word in her book. She would always try to work around any obstacles that comes in her way and doesn't allow any bumps on her road, not on her hand at least. Venus is often looked down as 'Just A Pretty Face' and she uses that to her advantages. She allows people who are dumb enough to underestimate a Slytherin and cunningly manipulate them underneath her hands. She is born with a pretty face afterall, might as well as use it. Everything she does, there's a bit of planning in there, small little actions like a smirk or changes in her posture. Venus does it all for her goals. She is an ambitious girl afterall. Once she sets her eyes on something she wants, she does it and she will go through hell for it. She would've been a goner for all the risks she took and troubles she made if it wasn't for her resourcefulness and cunningness.

Believe it or not but Venus actually doesn't hate Muggleborns. She never once called a Muggleborn, 'Mudblood' because she actually respects them in a way. Though she does keep this fact hidden. Despite growing up in a Pureblood family that sides with a power-hungry Dark Lord, Venus is an open-minded girl. She doesn't allow mindless hate to fill her vision and judgment fully. Venus realises Muggleborns' strengths and intelligences, and doesn't look down on them. Perhaps her reading an Italian Muggleborn's book, The Prince by Niccolo Machiavelli, might've affected her thinking but either way she admired the way The Prince was written. It was as if it opened up a new world. But Venus became a lot more open minded, towards Muggles and Muggleborns. She realised there's a lot more to everyone than she thinks.

As such, she is a disloyal person. Perhaps it's a bit of being open-minded, being selfish, being clever and being confident altogether. Venus is a confident girl, she's confident in her abilities to be able to survive on her own with her own wits, ambitions and determinations. She realised that she doesn't need anyone and sometime, working with people can bring her down. All of this, makes her a disloyal person. She works for herself, she's competent enough to do it and doesn't need anyone else beside her to support her. Venus doesn't believe in what Lord Voldemort and other Purebloods believes, Muggles and Muggleborns can sometime be annoying and quick to betray their own people and the so-called 'Good side' is not as good as they believe they are to be. It's her family that she's the most loyal to - as much loyalty as she can offer that is. Venus' loyalty are more of an obligation if she thinks about it. Venus defines herself as a 'Grey' witch.

BACKGROUND :

Venus Persephone Burke was born on the 17th of November 1980 to two Pureblood parents in London, England. She was brought up well and was educated like a Pureblood with customs and traditions. Since one of her family members, Caractacus Burke, was one of the founders of Borgin and Burkes, Venus often visited the shop in Knockturn Alley and play around with the Wizarding artefacts. Likewise, she is very surrounded by magic and often showed many accidental magic like when she accidentally pushed another girl out of anger into a wall with her own magic. She was often called "Pride of Burke" or "Little Princess" by her own family members, sometime called by other people too. Since she was born near the end of the war, her family bypassed it pretty well and instead of serving the Dark Lord, her parents had decided to take care of her instead, resulting them innocent when Aurors came to their mansion. She had a normal life as a Pureblood girl, she was pampered and taught well about customs.

Since Venus was born after September, she had to wait a year later than when Harry Potter went to Hogwarts. She received her Hogwarts' letter in 1992. As a pretty Pureblood Slytherin, she often had friends, good relations and was respected by her fellow housemates. At school, she maintains her average grade, she was neither the greatest nor was she the worst students in her year. In class, she often stayed silent, observe everyone by sitting at the back of the class and remained in a "seen shadow". Venus is actually quite noted by the professors for her good skills in Potions and  knowledge in History of Magic and was sometime praised highly. As a young child, she has always had a fascination for magical artefacts, bless Borgin and Burkes, and often played around with things in the shop. She was 13 years old when she really started getting thirsty for knowledge, looked around the shop and seriously studied about them. She didn't know how, but she stumbled upon 'The Prince' by Niccolo Machiavelli during one of the school breaks. She didn't know it was written by a Muggle so she took it anyway, when she began reading it, she quickly became obsessed with it. She was 13 years old, in her second year at Hogwarts, when her personality and the way she thinks really started changing. 

She was 14 years old, in her third year of when she had her first discovery of her interests towards girls. Venus never really thought about crushes— gossiping about boys was so not her thing, thanks Pansy for that — so experiencing this foreign nerves in her stomach that Pansy was talking about with "Drake" because of a girl was quite, daunting. It really didn't help that Gabrielle Delacour is such a charming and beautiful girl too. This crush on Fleur Delacour's little sister left Venus with an ugly feeling because the girl was 5 years younger than her too. Long story short, her first experience of a crush did not go well.

Venus was also 14 years old when she discovered 'Unspeakables'. Just like the mysteries behind the artefacts, the mysteries of 'Unspeakables' intrigued her. It captured her attention and interests. The fact that their jobs and responsibilities is a highly-maintained secret held her. As an ambitious girl, becoming an 'Unspeakable' and working under the Department of Mysteries quickly became her goal. But, of course, annoying dark lords decided to show up. There were rumours of Voldemort coming back after the Triwizard Tournament, ended in a disaster that did, she quickly realised that there is a possiblity that her parents might join his side - which only means that she, too, would have to join. Which means (the absolute horror) that she would never get to work as an Unspeakable if she were to associate herself with Voldymort. Venus did not like that one bit. When she came back to the mansion, she vaguely mentions her intentions to her family.

When the Second Wizarding War was officially declared by the Ministry, Venus grimly decided that; she will not let anyone get in her way, not even the Dark Lord Voldymort and she will make sure of it.

TRIVIA :

— She once held interest of becoming a Curse-Breaker before when she was young, before she even went to Hogwarts. Messing around with unusual artefacts like the ones in Borgin and Burkes truly did not do well on her, so she wanted to become a Curse Breaker

— Venus isn't actually an affectionate or tactile person so pets weren't really her thing, cuddling and all. So she didn't have any pets before going to Hogwarts. However, she decided to purchase an owl when she was 13 years old, after discovering 'The Prince', and used it privately to purchase more Muggle books written by Machiavelli. She named him 'Nicholaus'

— Venus, after her bad crush experience, declared herself as a 'Biual'. But she didn't know what the actual word was so she called herself "A Weirdo Who Likes Both"

— Venus has every books Niccolo Machiavelli ever written, but because of Pureblood-ness, she had to hide them in her luggage that's filled with protective charms and defences she practiced her magic on.

— Actually respects Harry Potter and never once stood against him. She also respects Hermione Granger - even though she didn't at first - and wanted to become even better than Granger. Though, she didn't like Ron Weasley as much.

— Accidentally found the Room of Requirements once during her wanders around the school, but she had no use for it. Besides, she kind of knew it would be used by someone else for something much more...secretive.

— She wants to go to the Muggle world, but hasn't had the chance.

FAMILY : 

— Parents : Wilbert Burke & Priscilla Burke (nee Parkinson) / 45-50 years old / strict, arrogant, well-educated, unaffectionate, a bit cold but loving nonetheless
Wilbert and Priscilla is not a doting type of parents. They are strict, well-educated and wants nothing but perfection from their daughter, as their only heir to the Burkes afterall. They are often busy with work as a Mediwitch and Shopkeepers, and sometime do neglect Venus. But they mean well, as Purebloods, they do want their daughter to be laughed at for her ignorance of Pureblood customs and doesn't want her to live without knowing their traditions as Purebloods. They do love her, as they did had a miscarriage once very early on, and wants nothing but the best for Venus. They give her gifts and praises sometime but rarely give her kisses or hugs. Probably one of the reason why Venus is cold to touch.

FRIENDS : 

— Friendly enough : Pansy Parkinson / 17 years old
Venus is close to Pansy Parkinson out of family relations. She is her cousin afterall and meets more time than both would've liked during family parties. They both tolerate each other at best, perhaps a sprinkled bit of fondness if they were generous enough to admit and would often accompany each other at their family parties. Venus had never liked Pansy's arrogance and stupidness but the more they grow, the more Venus came to grudging acknowledgement towards Pansy. Pansy Parkinson, even if they're not in the same dorm, often comes to her room or force her to come out to gossip with her group of friends about boys and stuff that girls would gossip about. The Parkinson has always made it clear that Draco Malfoy was her crush and that Venus was to stay away from her "Drakey". Venus herself also makes it clear she has no interest in such boys like Malfoy ("What's that supposed to mean, cousin?"). Though because of this, they managed to established a weird relationship in which Venus calls it: Too familiar to be acquaintances but not familiar enough to be friends.

— Close Friend : Astoria Greengrass / 15 years old / intelligent, clever, tough, open-minded, stubborn, patient
The Greengrass family and the Burke family had some close business relationship, so as a young child, Venus often visits the Greengrass family mansion. Despite Daphne being closer to her age, Venus prefered to hang out with Astoria. It's like they just clicked naturally. They would often talk about books, play dress up and more. When Astoria started Hogwarts, they hung out with each other often in the library, discussing about books. Aside from her family, Venus had to admit she shares a lot about herself to the young Greengrass and is probably one of Venus' closest friend. But of course, Venus knows that Astoria Greengrass is raised like a Pureblood, and some things are better left to herself.

OTHERS : 

— Strangers : Fred & George Weasley / 19 years old / mischievous, intelligent/clever, cheeky, daredevil, outgoing
Since Venus is a Slytherin and they're Gryffindors, they rarely interact but Venus still respects the Weasley twin, and she respects them as much as she respects Harry Potter, which really speaks volumes. She likes their mischief, troublemaking and their intelligence. She was slightly disappointed after their departure from Hogwarts. But luckily, her family's shop was close to their shop so she would sometime (as often as she could) visit Weasleys' Wizard Wheezes whenever she has the freetime. (she would rather die than admit this but she might've harboured a crush on them at some point)

INTERVIEW

IF YOU HAD THE OPPORTUNITY TO JOIN THE WAR EFFORT, WOULD YOU? WHY OR WHY NOT? : 

— "There are many answers to that questions and it all depends on a person really. Each and everyone have their own goals and beliefs that drives their actions in a different way."

("No. Never. I am stuck between a rock and a hard place. If I were to join the war effort against Dark Lord, Light wizards wouldn't trust me anyway. If I were to join the Dark Lord, I would be marked, and that would only ruin my goals to work for the Ministry. I'd rather stand back and watch everybody dance around.")

Are you worried about possibly being one of the casualties of war? : 

— "I am never safe. No where is safe. Not when I'm part of the Sacred-Twenty Eight."

Do you think you could kill someone for any reason? : 

— "Desperate times calls for desperate measures."

("Why kill immediately when I can be creative and come out cleanly? I would do anything get what I want and what I need, if I had to resort to to killing, then so be it. I hope not though. My hand is yet to stained and I don't want it to stain anytime soon.")
