PERSONALITY : 

"Chaeyeon's just out there outcomposing Taeyong after her second try like it's nothing."

creative: This is what her parents saw in her when Chaeyeon was young, and what made them put her in SM entertainment at a way too young age. Chaeyeon has a very creative mind and it comes to life in her love for music. She has a sense for producing, composing and just the understanding of music. She learns instruments  and anything else related to music very easily while she usually struggles with other subjects at school. She also draws well but hasn't really explored it yet because she is so focused on music.

"How can you not know all of NCTIOA after training with them for years?" - "I just didn't want to!"

Asocial but loyal: Chaeyeon is a weak person, very vulnerable. She's been hurt before, well, often not intentionally, but she already feels pain when someone ignores her for just a bit. After getting pain from her friends in elementary school because yeah children often do things without knowing how much it might hurt another, Chaeyeon decided that it was enough. She has turned into an asocial kind of person, not wanting to make many friends just because she doesn't want to be hurt. But once she is convinced that you'll be a good friend, she'll be fiercely loyal like a puppy. She'll follow you around like a puppy and do almost anything you would ask her to do. This is fine, as long as she gets protected from people who act like she can trust them, but can't. Good thing that we have some good kickers in IOA to kick the ones that do actually hurt the poor baby maknae.

Honest and humble: Chaeyeon is known to be a good and pure person. She's someone who anyone would want to take care of and protect. She's a good girl who never lies and never brags either. She just feels like it isn't good to lie and even if she would want to lie sometimes, she's such a bad liar that she would be found out immediately, so why not just be honest and get over with it? She also stays humble, not acknowledging her own dance skill. The only skill that Chaeyeon is openly confident about is her clarinet, but she has the talent to back it up.

sensitive and emotional: Poor Chaeyeon was a crybaby since her early years. She's weak in a lot of different ways, but this is one of the ways that is obvious from the start. Chaeyeon is unable to bottle up her emotions and hide them. She shows them easily, from happiness to irritation, openly on camera and off-camera. She just can't hide them. Chaeyeon gets hurt easily, even the tiniest misunderstandings will make her cry. Chaeyeon is definitely the one that cries the most in IOA, by boatloads. She cries so often, when she's scared, angry, happy, in awe or just sad, tears will always flow. Idols usually cry at their first win, but Chaeyeon would already cry at their first nomination or top 10 spot.

Cowardly, pessimistic and weak-willed: As said before, Chaeyeon is a very weak person. She is extremely vulnerable and needs protection to be able to succeed in life. She has zero courage, gets startled at anything and gets discouraged very fast. She's always out there saying she doesn't want to do it while tears are flowing down her cheeks. This poor child wants to be strong, but she can't be, so others have to be strong for her, and drag her along. Chaeyeon can't do it, at least not on her own. She finds her way to keep going and cheer up in music, especially classical. But the question is: what is a classical prodigy like her doing in the idol world?

BACKGROUND : Chaeyeon was born as the second child of the family, having a big sister. Chaeyeon was a weak child who cried a lot and got sick easily, so her parents deeply cared for her, kind of ignoring her older sister. This made her sister develop a dislike for the little girl who didn't even know. Chaeyeon wanted to love her big sister, but Miyeon just hated her because she took away all the attention Miyeon wanted. Miyeon didn't really have a good personality, while Chaeyeon was a sweetheart. She still is, she just grew more cautious of who's around her, majorly because the sister she liked so much just hurt her a lot. It got worse when her parents started to favor Chaeyeon even more when she showed her creativeness and love for music in the early years. Her parents were very creative as well, so after Miyeon didn't inherit their creative minds, they were more than happy that Chaeyeon did. Their parents were loving, but also quite pushy, and the typical parents that wanted to pave the way for their children instead of letting them chase their dreams. Chaeyeon was growing up beautifully, and her parents got the idea of letting her become an idol. It would also be a great way to keep her away from Miyeon, who was growing more hateful and actually dangerous.

When Chaeyeon was only 9, she was forced to start auditioning, with her parents watching from the side. Because her parents and the judges were watching, the little child often messed up her audition and often didn't get accepted because of that. She tried YG, JYP, FNC, Cube, all that, but she didn't get accepted, until she auditioned for SM. She still messed up, but SM accepted her for her visuals. She was such a beautiful child that they expected her to grow up beautifully as well. Score.

As Chaeyeon started training and grew up in SM entertainment, she started to get the hang of it all. Okay, she would never be exceptional at singing or rapping, but her dancing was growing so well, and all of that from scratch. It was a surprise to even the staff of SM entertainment, but it was a pleasant surprise. While they teached her everything about street dance, often getting extra dance class together with dance lines from other recent SM groups, Chaeyeon discovered that she loved something way different. Her favourite music genre was actually classical music. She loved to just listen to it and get lost in the beautiful and graceful world of pieces like the waltz of flowers. Some people saw it coming, with Chaeyeon's ability to play the clarinet and piano so well and beautifully. She started to behave more like the music, what she called graceful and loving. And that is what gained her the persona of IOA's love and grace.

Little Chaeyeon was however never introduced as SMrookie, unlike her male counterpart Jisung. SM was being humane for once, and knew that if she was let loose on the idol world so soon that she would be heavily scarred. it was dangerous to have such a weak young child out there already, unlike Jisung, who was strong enough to be on stage at such a young age. Chaeyeon  stayed behind, working on her skills and preparing very well for her actual debut. Because she was never introduced as SMrookie, this girl got the time she needed to be ready to face the world. People often said 'she's debuting at such a young age!', but she was ready, so it was time. And SM just didn't want to lose her to that dream of hers, the dream to become classical musician. It's only a matter of time before she'll spread her wings and fly away from the idol world to achieve her dream. SM had to tie her down and that's why she debuted at such a young age along with the other younger children. Maybe it would've been better if they waited, maybe not?

Miyeon despises her sister, because she stole all the attention from her. Their parents wanted creative children, but instead of being creative, Miyeon is intelligent. Even now that she is studying to become a surgeon, all eyes are on Chaeyeon. Miyeon is extremely jealous, and while she shouldn't be hating on her little sister for this, the blame is not on her, but on her parents. Miyeon used to be really dangerous when they were younger, but she has matured and the relationship between the sisters is calming down, slowly but surely.

Park Kwonhyuk, better known as Thal, is Chaeyeon and Miyeon's cousin. He's the son of their mother's older brother. Kwonhyuk is only child, so he never had someone to play with at home, and that's why he often came over to Miyeon and Chaeyeon. He is the same age as Miyeon, but he got along way better with little Chae. He and Miyeon often clashed, and he just really wanted to protect his little cousin. Chaeyeon and Kwonhyuk have grown so close that he has become her closest friend, they're more like siblings than cousins. Kwonhyuk is intimidating (yes, even with that face), strong and fiery. He protects Chaeyeon like no one else and NCT better be on their feet because Kwonhyuk's watching them. Lucas should feel lucky that he didn't meet Kwonhyuk yet, cause he would straight up beat his .

Marelaine has only recently joined IOA. Minchi hasn't even been able to get to know some other members of IOA even though she's been with them since a long time, so it's only logical that she doesn't know Marelaine that well yet either. But since Marelaine is so caring towards her but also gives her her needed space, Minchi has been opening up to her recently. A beautiful friendship might grow out of this.

it took a long, long time for these two to get close, but now that Chaeyeon has started to attend the same high school as Avaron, they started to stick together. It was because Chae felt alone once and came to Avaron because she knew her, and from that day on, Avaron basically started to drag Chaeyeon along everywhere. It's sometimes too much and Avaron has made Chaeyeon cry before, but the little maknae is happy that she doesn't have to spend her lunch time alone at school.

These two maknaes are a loved duo by their fans. Chaeyeon and Yerim have met early on in their lives while training at SM at a young age. Because Yerim is so social, she befriended Chaeyeon surprisingly quickly, while Chae doesn't really make friends that fast. Yerim just appealed to her, and she is probably her closest friend in all of SM entertainment right now. Yerim often gives Chaeyeon advice when she's not feeling good about the idol life and all that stuff.

Beomchan, better known as Blossom, is Kwonhyuk's groupmate and best friend. They're exact opposites, but when both joined SKT T1 in late 2017, they just hit it off so well, even though Beomchan never fails to annoy Kwonhyuk. He just can't stay mad at this ball of fluff. He also got very close with Chaeyeon, he absolutely adores her and babies her so much. Chaeyeon gets annoyed by him sometimes as well, but Beomchan smiled, laughed and jumped his way around Chae and into her heart. He's constantly yelling about how he wants to meet IOA together with Kwonhyuk and laugh his way into their hearts as well. When Chaeyeon's feeling down, Beomchan is the one that can make her laugh again.

STAGE NAME :  Minchi 민치 + Chaeyeon didn't want to be overshadowed by DIA's Chaeyeon, so she was looking for another name. A groupmate suggested Minji, but there were lots of Minji's as well, so Chaeyeon got the idea to go for Minchi instead. It sounds pretty and hasn't been used before.
PERSONA :  IOA's love and grace
PLOTLINE + POSITION :  Jisung + main dancer, sub vocalist, sub rapper, maknae

VOCAL TWIN  :  olivia hye + while she's the youngest, Chaeyeon has one of the deeper and warmer voices in IOA, bringing a nice change in nct dream's songs, especially in contrast with Avaron's soft and high voice.
RAP TWIN   :  olivia hye + Chaeyeon raps sometimes, because it sounds very nice with her voice, but it's not like she would be able to release a mixtape here and now. Her voice is basically the same when she sings and raps.
DANCE TWIN  :  Lipbubble's Hanbi + her dancing is powerful and SM made Chaeyeon specialise in harder and more powerful dancing. Her dancing is very good and has a special charm to it, her style radiates both power and youth.
VARIETY TWIN  :  4ten hyejin + Chaeyeon's a bit awkward on screen, but can have her good moments. She also judges anything embarassing and it's really visible on her face every time.
TALKING TWIN  :  olivia hye + her singing and rapping sounds exactly the same as her talking, and she still has this warm and deep voice when she just speaks. Some people describe it as warm, thick chocolate milk with marshmallows.

TRAINEE YEARS : 6 years, 2010-2016

TRAINEE LIFE : bChaeyeon has struggled a lot in her trainee life, being an asocial person and often being on her own outside of the trainee cliques, and also having entered at such a young age. She had to juggle elementary and middle school with trainee life, which was exhausting. She also entered without really much skills, so at the start she didn't have any confidence either. Now she has a bit of confidence in her dancing, but still not much. Chaeyeon has also been losing her interest in idol life, but she decides to keep going with it, because if she leaves now she'll disappoint everyone she knows. She has decided to go for it and leave to become classical musician when the time is right. She's lucky that she is only in ioa dream, because Chaeyeon doesn't really like ioa 127's general concept, and nct 127's either. She's so different from the others that she stands out between the other trainees. At least she had a few to depend on, like Yerim and Jaemin.

PREDEBUT EXPERIENCE : nothing, she wasn't ready

IDOL LIFE : Out of all the members, Chaeyeon is one of the less popular ones. Okay, she has amazing visuals and all, but on one side, many older fans are afraid to bias her because of her age, on the other side, she doesn't really dare to show herself much, so she remains kind of mysterious to fans, what holds them back. Chaeyeon's not good at variety, so she definitely lacks appearances and content from variety shows. The only shows she would ever be invited to on her own are shows that have to do with classical music like Always Cantare, but back then she didn't actually debut yet so she didn't have the chance to appear on that show. Chaeyeon did get called to Hello counselor once in 2017 together with two other members, and while she was silent for most of the episode, when she had advice, it was good . Even though Chaeyeon wants to expand on her variety shows and is currently practicing to become better at it, she likes being kind of in the back. She doesn't have many individual fans unlike some other IOA members, and she doesn't mind being one of the less popular girls. She feels good enough seeing the other girls be popular. She'd rather be #18 than #1.

PERSONAL LIFE  :  Most of Chaeyeon's personal life consists of music. She does go out to play tennis sometimes, but she mainly practices either to perform better or her classical music. She often spends her free time practicing her clarinet or piano. When she's not practicing or playing tennis, she's hanging out with Yerim or Kwonhyuk and Beomchan. She sometimes hangs out with the people she's closest to in NCT and IOA, or does her homework together with Avaron who's her high school mate now that she graduated middle school. When Beomchan and Kwonhyuk are playing in spring and summer split of league of legends korea, she tries to go watch their games as well. And then she becomes passionate, oh man.

— I'm currently obsessed with uhm... league of legends world championships! Even though it is too bad that my cousin's team didn't make it after so many years of reigning over the world of league... It's been such a cool and tight worlds though!

PERSONALITY: Lucas is just loud and noisy. He should be the type that Chaeyeon shouldn't be attracted to at all, but somehow she is still attracted to him. He's just so good-looking and has this irresistible charm to him. His smile is amazing and he's actually a very nice person. He's just this flamboyant flirty dude who flirts with anything that moves and loves to brag about his charms. He's a dork, a childish one on top of that, but he can really get serious when it's desperately needed. Lucas is a nuisance, but also a mood maker. He's a good guy, but also a bad flirt. He flirts with Chaeyeon because he knows she has a crush on him, and he enjoys seeing her get all shy, but he'll regret that right after because he's about to get kicked into oblivion by Avaron and marelaine for toying with poor Minchi, and he didn't even meet Kwonhyuk yet, and Beomchan, who can also get scary when he's protecting Chaeyeon.

LOVE STORY:
This isn't a real love story, honestly. Chaeyeon knows that she and Lucas will never work because he's not her type, and she considers the just one year too big at her age. Maybe later, but not now. She's also not ready to have a boyfriend for now. Lucas joined SM later than Chaeyeon, and he already approached the cute little girl on day one. Chaeyeon immediately felt shy. Not the usual shy, but extra shy because he was so flirty and good-looking. Lucas started to fool around with her from day one. He took care of her and all, but he also flirted, which Chaeyeon first just let slide. But when she started to care about love, she immediately developed a crush on Lucas. Her first love, but the poor child knew that it wouldn't work. She knew Lucas was just fooling around and having fun, but she couldn't help feeling immensely attracted to him. When Avaron and Marelaine got close to Chaeyeon, they started to watch Lucas like eagles and attacking him every time he tries to flirt with their little child. This won't work. Chaeyeon has to start working on trying to move on.

INTERACTIONS: 
Lucas often tries to flirt with Chaeyeon, who then just gets shy and runs away. The times when they can actually chat with each other is when Lucas is not actually flirting. The only times when Chaeyeon doesn't get too shy. Lucas does actually try to take care of her, because he knows that Chaeyeon needs it. He does flirt, yes, but Lucas actually cares about the youngest, and he knows about her struggles all so well, because she has vented to him before. This relationship is very weird, but it's not like they aren't friends. They care about each other even though Chaeyeon can think he's intimidating as well. Sometimes Lucas can get too much, and Chaeyeon will shut herself off and run away.
