Romantic and flirty: This is what Marelaine is known for. The ultimate seduction. Even when she was still an underage solo artist in china, she was known for her art of flirting. She flirted with the audience and fellow artists, because that's what made her so popular. Marelaine loves to see fans and just regular people swoon for her when she uses her advances, it brings her a certain thrill. The thing is, she sometimes does it too much and makes people believe wrongly, like a certain big brother. This results in misunderstandings and broken hearts, and Marelaine often thinks 'why do I keep doing this?' but she just can't stop her flirting. Careless and arrogant: Of course Marelaine is not perfect, just like everyone else. Marelaine doesn't really think about the consequences of her actions, especially with her endless flirting. She never thinks of what could go wrong even if it has gone wrong before. Marelaine can't see it happening again, even though it keeps happening. She goes into things without thinking. She sometimes also says things without thinking. Most of the times, those things have to do with her looks. She can sometimes say arrogant things without realising they're arrogant and not just confident. It's just that she likes to boast about her looks so much, and sometimes she goes over the line. It's really too bad, but she always makes sure to apologise properly when she does offend someone.

Clingy and Possessive: arrogance is not the only problem Marelaine has to deal with, she's also very clingy and possessive. She really needs people around her, or she'll become stressed and sad. Because she needs people around her to feel good, Marelaine has become very clingy and possessive. She wants to keep the people she loves close to her, too close. She's afraid of separation and being left behind by the people she loves, so she keeps them close desperately, sometimes becoming too desperate, scaring the people she clings to off. Because she's possessive over her friends, Marelaine has also grown possessive over the stuff that's important to her. No one can touch her favourite clothes, no one can take a bite from her favourite food, more stuff like that.

BACKGROUND : Marelaine Li was born as the only child of a mixed race family, a rich one, living in a fancy penthouse in Shanghai. She was a beautiful and wellbehaved girl, but since she was half brazilian, people sometimes looked at her weirdly. Once they got to know that Marelaine came from a rich family though, they calmed down and treated her well. Marelaine's father is an actor, very big in China. His Brazilian wife is a doctor. It's a hectic family, but very loving and friendly. They raised their only daughter very well and she grew into a good person who wouldn't hurt a fly. Marelaine was obviously into music ever since she was a little toddler. The best way to calm her down when she was crying was to just put on some good music. Her parents thought that she would be into music for the rest of her life, and maybe even make it her career. And they were right.

Because her dad was a big actor in China, Marelaine herself played some minor roles when she was young as well, but her heart always lied with music. She was more than happy when her parents gifted her her first piano for her birthday, a beautiful cream colored piano that fit perfectly in the house. Marelaine loved to play on it all day, playing pieces she got at piano class, but also just freestyling. It was no surprise to her parents when she said she wanted to become a singer when she was 12. The problem was: she had no skills at all, and she was mixed race, so normally no company would accept her. When she was 14, after following dance and vocal class on her own, Marelaine decided that it was time to start training. It was 2013. She still wasn't exceptional, so the bigger companies rejected her, but then there was Summer star.

In Summer star, they had plans for a boy group, but because Marelaine was developing so well in training, they decided to debut her first, as solo artist. She was beautiful, special, had a huge voice range and could do all three fields decently. Summer star decided to debut her in summer 2015 with a strong, badass and empowering song, even though she was only 16 at that time. She looked more mature, and everyone always thought that was because of her Brazilian blood. The song was strong, and it received good response, partly because she was the daughter of a famous actor, of course. Marelaine was known, but it was not like she was the new it-girl of China. People seemed to be wary of her appearance, mixed race and very strong song and haughty concept. She was intimidating. Every comeback, Summer star toned her intimidatingness down, and increased the trendiness. Marelaine's first release was Queen of queens, exploring her rap and lower vocal range. In late 2015 she made her first comeback with Liu Xing, another song full of self-praise, but it was already less intimidating. In this song, Marelaine rocked the greyish blue hair with black roots, which contrasted greatly against her darker skin. It's definitely a look to bring back.

What made Marelaine explode though was her March 2016 comeback with me vs. me. A catchy bop, that's what it was. That was what Marelaine needed to gain the super star popularity. She was the monster rookie of China, conquering at fast speed. The next (and for now last) comeback came in fall of 2016, and it was a collaboration with one of the biggest stars of China, who would become like a big brother to Marelaine after collabing. It was Show Luo. Their song was called handsome guy. Through just a year, Marelaine had aquired a huge following, being known for her visuals, voice and flirtiness on stage. But Marelaine didn't feel good anymore, especially after collaborating with Show Luo. She realised how lonely she actually was as solo artist, away from her parents, friends and fellow trainees. Marelaine didn't want to be solo anymore, but in a group.

After coming together with her parents and then having a good talk with Show Luo, Marelaine got adviced to leave Summer Star and go look for a company that would be willing to debut her together with other girls. The problem was that girl groups weren't really a thing in China, so Show Luo came up with the idea that Marelaine should go to Korea instead. Marelaine knew some chinese kpop stars quite well, like Jackson, Yixing and Qin Fen. They all said the same thing. It would be hard in Korea, but since Marelaine handled being a solo artist in China perfectly, they expected her to be able to handle it in Korea as well, and that the public would dig her. Not so long after, Yixing came to Marelaine with the news that SM was looking for new IOA members. Marelaine didn't know of IOA, but when she looked them up, she got very interested. It was a huge group, so Marelaine would never be alone. She decided to try her luck somewhere at the start of 2017 after learning some basic Korean. She got accepted into SM and started training immediately, where she met the IOA girls, NCT boys and even the group of Doyoung's big brother, 5urprise. She was popular amongst the trainees, the china line even being fans of her. Marelaine had the time of her life, even though the training was hard. After a year of training in the shadows and her chinese fans worrying about their star, Marelaine got announced as new member of IOA U, and the fandom exploded. On one side, there were her chinese fans suddenly becoming 'IOAzens', but at the other side there was the terrible fanwar starting, the IOAzens who didn't believe in her vs the salty Amors (Amor is Marelaine's personal fandom name). Marelaine didn't like it at all.

Marelaine hasn't been part of IOA for long, but she and Avaron sure hit it off. She takes great care of Avaron and knows very well how to deal with her shenanigans, either shutting her down or simply firing back. They also bonded over their shared love for soccer and they often play together in their team. They have great synergy and Marelaine often scores goals from passes coming from Avaron, giving her many assists.

In Marelaine's last solo comeback, she was offered to collaborate with huge veteran star, Show Luo. She was extremely nervous to meet him, but Show Luo, or Luo Zhixiang, was so friendly to her. He adviced her to go to Korea and also recommended SM because he's good friends with Zhang Yixing. Marelaine yet has to grow close with Yixing but they do know each other from their time in China. Show Luo has grown to be like a big brother to Marelaine, the big brother she never had. Their comeback was a little scandalous, actually, because it was y and all, but Marelaine at that time was 17, and show luo was 37. He has lived double her life, yet they are friends like there is just a few years difference. That's probably cause Show Luo acts younger than his age, and Marelaine older.

Marelaine's closest friend in NCT is Doyoung, so after only a few weeks of being in Korea and under SM, Marelaine was already introduced to his big brother. Doyoung knows that his big brother likes Marelaine a lot, and Marelaine does have something for Gong Myung too. She currently likes Gong Myung and they might have a short relationship in the future (or when the story starts? Or not? It depends on what you want to do with it). (but she'll end up with Kun, currently she has nothing for Kun though)

All of 5urprise are really friendly to Marelaine, but out of the other members that are not Gong Myung, Taeoh is the one that got close to her. He might actually be her closest friend in Korea right now, even closer than she is with Gong Myung. Marelaine just feels at ease with this guy. He's also trying the hardest to set Gong Myung and Marelaine up.

PERSONA :  The mulher fatal, it was already her persona before even joining SM entertainment, so she kept it. The brazilian femme fatale.
PLOTLINE + POSITION :  Lucas + Lead rapper, sub-vocalist, dancer + she can sing way better than Lucas, but IOA U didn't need more vocals, so for now, Marelaine is only a sub-vocal so she can focus on her rapping.

VOCAL TWIN  :  Amber An + A pretty, fun and playful voice with a hint of iness, ideal for her persona.
RAP TWIN   :  Miss Ko + Marelaine has a very big vocal range, even when she's just talking. She can especially go very low. When she sings, she tends to go higher than her speaking voice, and when she raps, she often goes lower because it sounds better.
DANCE TWIN  :  Amber An + as soloist who dances with her songs, Marelaine has learned to dance quite well, gaining her the dancer position in IOA U. It's not like she's a prodigy, but she's definitely better than average.
VARIETY TWIN  :  Wassup Nari + she's y, she's seductive, she's amazing. But can sometimes get a bit arrogant and y. Marelaine has no filter on screen.

TRAINEE LIFE : In SM entertainment, Marelaine was very happy to not be alone anymore. She already had the skills down so it wasn't as hard for her as for others, even though it was still very tiring. She had it hard mentally at the beginning though. She was back to square one, with barely any knowledge of Korean and the country, and away from Zihao and Show Luo. She quickly got integrated in the group though and both NCT and IOA loved her a lot, especially the china line, because they're her fans.

Of course, Marelaine immediately had lots of gigs, because well, she's popular, beautiful and a stan attractor. She has spend the last year flying between china and korea to try to promote in both countries equally. Just like Zhang Yixing, netizens express disappointment when Marelaine promotes more in China, but well, she has a huge following there, she wants to promote in china as well. But she would never neglect IOA because she wants to be with them. She also has the habit of doing lots of surprise instagram and vlives to spoil her fans. She would then switch between korean, mandarin, portuguese and a bit of crappy english, trying to communicate with all her fans. She also has had a side role in a chinese drama in the summer, taking after her father. Marelaine's time with IOA has only started and her popularity in Korea is high, but not the most popular member, but it's just the start, it might change...

PERSONAL LIFE  :  Marelaine has barely any personal life as she's been switching between promoting in china and korea. She tries to play in the soccer team as much as possible. She calls or facetimes Zihao and Show Luo at least once every two days and then she can talk for hours, wasting away all her free time. When she does have free time she'll try to spend it with IOA, NCT or 5urprise, because she really doesn't want to be alone anymore.

STORY ARCH  :  I don't really ask for much, but Marelaine will definitely have issues with the fanwars she has caused. She'll also have issues with Gong Myung and Kun. You don't even have to make Gong Myung and Marelaine date if you want to, they can already be exes as well and you can decide how they will feel about each other when they break up.

DRAMAS :  drama is bound to happen around Marelaine, but the main drama will be Gong Myung vs Kun vs Zihao

SCANDALS  :  Marelaine hasn't gotten into scandals before, but there might be some on the way. She might be flirty, but she's a good girl. I can't come up with scandals or headlines right now except for the little bit scandalous collaboration between Marelaine and Show Luo, but that wasn't really big enough.

LOVE INTEREST : the god and almighty ruler Qian Kun

BACK UP LOVE INTEREST : Doyoung (OH IMAGINE THE DRAMA THAT SHE LIKE FIRST DATES GONG MYUNG AND THEN DOYOUNG HOW CRUEL WOULD THAT BE)

PERSONALITY: Kun's a really precious guy. He's friendly to anyone that didn't cause harm to him or his friends yet, and he is also known to be a very helpful guy. An example for the younger members of NCTIOA. He's like a mom to the china line, and so is Marelaine, probably. He wasn't able to show himself yet, and that's why Marelaine is currently not interested in him yet. He's incredibly kind though, and that will be one of his main bonus points in the future for Marelaine. He's also quite smart and picks up things fast.

Kun doesn't easily make friends though. He's soft, he's calm, but also quite shy and awkward. Especially towards Marelaine, who he's a big fan of. He couldn't talk to her at the start and sometimes still has problems keeping up a conversation with her right now. He is really not the social type but that kind of adds to his charm? Kun is just full on softness. He also has this clumsy side to him, and people often have to watch out that Kun doesn't break something or hurts himself by accident. A big problem for kun though is that he gets jealous extremely easy. And Marelaine is flirty (and might date someone else first!), so Kun will have to deal with a lot of jealousy in the future. When he is jealous at Marelaine he starts to act colder towards her, even a bit snarky, but he tries to hide it as much as possible (even though it's obvious most of the time).

LOVE STORY:
Kun freaked out when he heard that the great Marelaine Li was joining the company. Not only Kun did, but the rest of china line as well. They all knew who she was and they all liked her music. The china line was some sort of bridge for Marelaine to get to the rest of NCTIOA, because she didn't know much Korean yet. But while she grew close with them all, because Kun was so shy, he stayed behind. He had quickly developed a small crush on her, which was just growing and growing, but he didn't actually dare to make a move. A reason for that was Gong Myung. When he saw Marelaine talking to Gong Myung in the SM building once, he knew immediately that she liked the guy. Kun was devastated and also extremely jealous. Especially when Gong Myung and Marelaine started dating recently (please don't let Marelaine date him before she turns legal!), Kun really didn't have a good time. He didn't only start to act colder towards Marelaine, but towards everyone else as well. It was obvious that something was wrong with him, but Marelaine just didn't realise while she tried to care for him and help him out of his slump. But that made it worse, actually. Some other member might hint at Marelaine about how Kun really feels, and that will make Marelaine stop trying to comfort Kun, and she'll start to see him in a different way. She'll break up with Gong Myung after not so long (if you even want to let them date, that is. They might've broken up before this point in time as well, depends on when you start the story). It will clear up Kun and give him hope, and this time Marelaine is paying more attention to him as well, seeing how nice and cute Kun actually is. It really depends on what you want. There might be a lot of drama between gong myung and marelaine, but also between marelaine and kun, and kun and gong myung, and there's zihao out there as well. It's a triple battle over Marelaine, and it might fire up and escalate. it depends on how much you're in for the drama, really.

INTERACTIONS: 
the thing is: they don't interact on-screen. Kun doesn't talk to her in front of cameras, simply because he's afraid of messing up and revealing himself to the public. In public, they just look at each other sometimes, well most often, Kun looks at Marelaine. When they're in private, they talk more, but currently they're just friends. Marelaine isn't as close as Kun as to some other members of NCT, but she does like him as friend. Kun often gets shy, but Marelaine thinks it's just because he's a big fanboy of hers. They do have some nice moments though, when Kun doesn't mess up. Their friendship is still growing, but will the love grow too? Or will it fall apart?

RELATIONSHIP STATUS: 
currently it's nothing, they might have some beef when kun gets jealous because marelaine's with gong myung, but they might end up dating? Depends if you want them to.
