background
The Minamoto clan was made up of members of the imperial family that were not in the line of succession and demoted to lower ranks of nobility during the Heian period, but now in 2693 the Minamoto family rises and is the ruling family to one of the 93 kingdoms in the world. Minamoto Ichiro is the first son to the 6th emperor of the Kino kingdom. The Minamoto family have had first-born sons for generations and generations, until Ichiro and Ayane. They were the first family to initially give birth to a daughter, Kumiko. With hopes of avoiding the disappointment of their elders and giving the throne to a son, the two continued to have more children. Unfortunately for them, they only had three more girls. With the realization that they weren't going to have a boy, they furthur pushed Kumiko into being the future empress of the kingdom.

Even as her parents were in the process of having more kids, Kumiko was taught the proper ways of a royal. Her parents wanted to make sure that she was well=taught just in case they didn't have a boy (which they were glad they made that decision). Kumiko was taught English at age 3, Mandarin and Korean when she was 5, and continued to learn all three from then till' present times. Her father never really saw Kumiko, or any of his chilren really, as his daughter. He was only with Kumiko when it came to disciplining her and watching her etiquette lessons.

Kumiko started going to school when she was 6 years old. She was always the quietest child out of the lot and still is. She wasn't as outgoing and active as a child her age should have been, but it was due to the fact that she was afraid of being disciplined like she did at home. She stuck to her butler most of the time, or more so behind his legs when she could, and didn't interact with the others as much as the professors would have liked her to.

Slowly over the years (even though her father always reprimanded her for not having enough presence at school), Kumiko grew out of her shy shell. She was still on the quiet side, but that witty and sharp mouth of hers came to light when she was around 13. She was no longer afraid of being disciplined because she knew how to remarkably flip her personality 180 when she needed to. She could easily go from a girl her true age to the future empress of the Kino Kingdom in seconds.

Kumiko takes her studies very seriously, as she doesn't want to disappoint her father any more than she already has. She's not the top of her class, but she is in the top 3. She also takes her royal duties very seriously and tends to put those responsibilities first before other things.

FAMILY TIES

Father | Minamoto Ichiro {源一郎} |45| Kumiko wishes that she had a closer bond to her father, but he only sees it as a "strictly-business" relationship. She only listens to him when he fills her in on what is going on with the kingdom and her duties. Nothing more, nothing less. She refuses to speak with him else where, so long as he continues to treat her and her sisters like they aren't blood related.
Mother | Minamoto Ayane {源彩音}|43| Kumiko is so much closer to her than she is with her father. She can always go to her mother when she needs comfort or just needs to spill some tea about the drama at school or about her non-existent-but-definitely-present crushes. Her mother is mainly the one who taught Kumiko how to behave as an empress. Although her mother loves hugs from all of her girls, she won't be afraid to give 'em a lil tap on the hands if they misbehave.
Sister | Minamoto Kanako {源加奈子} |16| Kumiko and Kanako are closer to each other than they are with their other sisters due to their closeness in age. Although Kumiko is only 2 years older, Kanako constantly looks up to her and always goes to her for advice. She was even the first person Kanako went to when she thought she was going to die from bleeding in the lower region.
Sister | Minamoto Kiyoko {源清子} |13| Although Kumiko isn't the closest to Kiyoko out of all her siblings, she still cares about her just as much. Kiyoko is the most rebelious and mischievous out of the four which causes her to get in trouble with their father a lot. Because of this, Kumiko pays extra attention to her and makes sure she is actually okay and not just okay on the outside.
Sister | Minamoto Keiko {源啓子} |10| Kumiko has a special little soft spot in her heart for her youngest sister. Growing up, Kumiko liked to get all the sisters to play with Keiko during their free time so she didn't experience the loneliness she felt at her age. Aside from her mother, she watches over the youngest the most when she can and tries to keep her as far away from their father as possible.

SERVANTS

Butler | Nakamura Goro {中村五郎} |48| He has been serving the Minamoto Kingdom since he was 27 and was assigned to be Kumiko's official butler when she was 4. She views him as more of a father than she does her actual father. She is the closest to being her true self when she is with Goro. Actually, she gets most of her sarcastic humor from this guy. He has put up with her antics for many, many years and will continue to do so.

perfectly flawed
(+) Resourceful Observant Daring
(=) Willful Witty Self-Confident
(-) Manipulative Solitary Untrusting

Kumiko is the type of person that has the ability to find quick and clever ways to overcome difficulties. She doesn't stick to the typical ways of thinking and often finds herself thinking "outside of the box". She knows how to use the resources around her in the most beneficial ways.

Kumiko notices everything. Somehow, she has the ability to see things without people even knowing it or wouldn't think she would notice. She is very observant and pays close attention to details. The first thing she does when she does when in a new place is to look at everything. At all times, she is aware of her surroundings.

She wouldn't back down from a fight, even if the person is twice her size. Kumiko is also incredibly daring. If she were to be in a faction from divergent she would be in "Dauntless". She is not afraid to break standards. She doesn't give a second thought on anything that could even be potentially harmful. If she is injured, she will still walk around and play regardless of whether it will worsen her condition or not.

In addition to daring, Kumiko has a strong sense of willpower. When she has a goal in mind, she is determined to follow through with said goal. Sometimes her willful personality can turn into stubbornness. She will follow through with anything at any costs. This can be extremely risky, especially because she is a woman who could be classified as disobedient.

Although Kumiko is a relatively reserved person, when she does end up talking it's always some witty or "saucy" remark. She has a sharp tongue to match her quick and sarcastic comments. Hidden under her proper princess dialect and diction is the facetious and dark humor.

Kumiko is extremely self-confident when it comes to her skill set and abilities. She knows that she is very talented and is a quick learner when it comes to practically anything. One might say that she is overly confident about her abilities. She shows excessive pride in her capabilities and definitely will brag about how talented she is if someone were to ask.

Kumiko can sometimes be seen as a"two-faced" type of person. She can easily take lead over a situation through unscrupulolus control. She knows how to take situations and turn them into a positive event that benefits her. Many don't tell her their secrets (although they don't really have to because she'd probaboly find out eventually) because they know she can use it against them. Most of her intentions mean well, but she'll do what she needs to succeed.

Kumiko is a bit more asocial than a princess in waiting should be. She prefers to rid herself of attention, if possible. She knows that people talk about her and she would prefer to just not acknowledge their existence. She'd much rather blend in with the shadows where she believes she performs at her best. At times, she will have what she likes to call "off days" where she will do her best to avoid all interactions with human beings whatsoever. When she has her "off days", She is more in her head than in reality and prefers to have her alone time.

Kumiko does not give her trust easily. She does not rely on others much and will always be hesitant on who to interact with. No matter what type of situation she is in, it could be a life or death situation, she will never trust a stranger on the spot. If her trust is ever broken, it's practically impossible to get it back

What makes you different from all the royals before you?
The fact that I actually pay attention to the cons of being a royal instead of just the pros. Most royal kids have their heads too far up their asses to realize how much work it takes to actually be a successor. Seriously. Just last year, girls were making flower crowns and frolicking through the fields while I was discussing the interelations between kingdoms and settling some of the conflicts with my father. Don't even get me started on the boys here. Can't believe I used to think I would find a "prince charming" when in reality most of them are about as charming as  sweaty, egotistic pigs can be. *crosses legs, folds hands, places them on knee, and smiles while batting eyelashes*
how will you handle the technology crisis?
I'm going to apply what I know about human relations and behavior to finding a solution to the technology crisis. Studying how humans behaved before the world fell apart helped me notice the patterns and common factors in both eras. Paying close attention to everyone, I'm going to prevent as many behavioral patterns that I can. Seeing that some of the royals here are what our ancestors would have labeled as "basic es", a lot of hardwork is going to be needed.
do you even want to lead a kingdom?
At this point, does my opinion even matter? I mean, it's all I know. I've grown up only learning how to lead a kingdom. How could I not want to do something when it's all I know how to do. Do I want to have constant talks about my posture? Hell no. Do I want to help the people of the Kino kingdom to feel protected and happy? Without question.
what is your favorite way to show you care to your people?
My sisters often tell me that my way of showing affection is a little bit...unorthodox? Much to other people's shock, I do care about the well-being of most people. Most. My favorite way to show I care to my people is by actually communicating with them one on one. I love going down to the village and meeting everyone. It brings me joy when I get to talk to them and I hope I bring them joy too. Unlike my father, I put my people's well-being before my own. I know, I know. I'm basically the epitome of a walking stick, but I have feelings too. I mean not to the knowledge of other people, but that doesn't make them any less real.
can you bring peace and harmony to your kingdom?
I'm not going to say I hope I can do so because hoping all the time won't get you anywhere. Instead of hoping, I realized I needed to start doing. So, yes. I'm going to bring peace and harmony to my kingdom and I'll do whatever it takes to be sure of it.

Jeon Wonwoo is the future king of the Bulsa Kingdom (current day Gimpo, Incheon, Ansan, Suwon, and Anyang). He is one of the many arrogant princes at the academy that Kumiko deeply, deeply loathes ("I really just want to like punch him in the mouth and then he needs to just like punch me in the face-what?"). His idea that he is "the most intelligent prince to be born" is what really gets him the ladies ( *cough* "clear sarcasm" *cough* ). Wonwoo knows he's in the top of his class and he's sure as hell isn't afraid to brag about it ("He also knows how good looking he is. With that face of his and hair that makes me wanna just run my fingers through it. *coughs and chokes* I mean to like mess it up. Obviously"). When he's not helping brainstorm ideas or answering questions in class, he likes to sit back and watch those around him struggle as he simply picks at his nails ("He should be active and just put those hands around my-wait.)

Kumiko and Wonwoo have gone to school together since they were both 6 years old. It was when they were kids that Wonwoo established his own nickname for Kumiko: Gummi (pronounced Goo-me). Her squishy, youthful cheeks reminded him of gummies and he heard people call her Kumi so he wanted to be special. It was very evident that she didn't like being called Gummi, but he has never stopped calling her that to this day. The only times he calls her by her full name is when he is being 110% serious or when he tries to make her flustered.

Wonwoo tried to befriend Kumiko when they first attended the academy, but she was too shy and scared to gain many friends. Thinking that she thought he smelled or that she hated him (children minds, am I right?), he stopped trying and made friends with all the other royal kids. He started to find interest in her again when they were pre-teens. He realized that she became more open and talkative and was, once again, intrigued by the Kino princess.

Growing up together, the two have seen each other go through many phases of their life. They're both very observant people and know small miniscule details about each other that sometimes they don't even know it themselves. They know just what to do to get under each other's skin and how far to go with teasing. Even though Wonwoo is an unbreakable, smoldering mass to most people, it's very different with Kumiko. She is one of the only people that can get Wonwoo riled up; he is one of the only people that are brave enough to constantly annoy Kumiko and invade her personal space bubble without permission.

It's no secret that the two are known for being at each other's throat half of the time at school, but it's also no secret that there's some sort of tension between the two of them (and it's not awkward tension if you know what I'm getting at). Witnesses of their constant eye contact with each other will agree to this statement. Sometimes they have a look in their eyes that says "I'm going to wreck you." Other times the look in their eyes says "I'm going to wreck you." They have yet to fulfill the itch to just hold each other. Both of them have denied having feelings for one another and will continue to do so until either one of them breaks, the world will end, or they get trapped in a room for more than 48 hours.

Both of these future rulers lack in showing their true emotions to others. What they don't know is that they have seen each other in their most vulnerable states. Wonwoo was wandering the halls when he happened to spot a crying Kumiko in the grounds' courtyard. He was informed about her troubles from her Goro (yeah, they're pretty tight. Goro practically ships them. #WoomiFTW) Kumiko was on her way to her room when she overheard Wonwoo yelling behind a doorway. She quickly hid before the door opened and out came an angrily crying Wonwoo and his father. They have yet to bring up this information to each other.

Long story short, Wonwoo and Kumiko are always pushing each other away while actually bringing each other closer. They're both hard-headed people that can't accept their feelings and turn their confusion into anger. Deep, deep, deep, deep down: the two know that they enjoy the company of one another and are a little bit more special than anyone else in the world.
