APPEARANCE just like his sister, Minjae's quite skinny. But he's much, much taller than his sister, and might possibly be the tallest of the group. Just like his sister, he is a stunning appearance. Pale like snow, enchanting, beautiful eyes. Their features are pretty similar, but Minjae's face is sharper in general, especially his eyes and jawline. He has more sharp edges, while Minjin has more rounded features. Minjae has been bleaching his hair for a while as well, both twins just like the bleach blonde hair life, you know. Minjae's hair is more of a platinum white than Minjin's ashy blonde. It's like the frost got to his head and made his hair white and sparkly.

FASHION STYLE Minjae's style is nothing special. He used to be a fashionista with lots of colors and nice patterns, but that all changed. He doesn't want to stand out anymore, so he wears very plain clothes. Most of the time white tshirts or hoodies paired with black or blue jeans and white sneakers or brown or black chunky boots. He often wears a mouth mask to not be recognised and also to protect himself from the pollen in spring. His sister should do it more too because she is always a sneezing mess while Minjae cares more about protecting himself from the pollen. Other members often call him out for dressing so plainly while being such a handsome appearance.

PERSONALITY 

"Dude... I really think you should go clean your dishes, because I can hear Minjae going nuts in the kitchen..."

clean and healthy: Minjae values having a good living and workspace. He can't see why you should ruin yourself and surroundings by doing things that aren't clean. Minjae is a very clean person and will clean anything that shows a little speck. He used to be just clean, normal clean, but when he came to YG, he had turned into a neat freak. It's borderline psychotic how he obsesses over cleaning. He gets really stressed when his surroundings aren't clean, and it really affects him. He also wants to be clean himself, so he tries to be very healthy. He swore to never eat any fastfood. Minjae values this greatly, and when people around him are slobs who eat fastfood, it will bring him great amounts of stress. Being clean is supposed to be positive, and it is positive, until Minjae starts stressing over it.

"Minjae, did you really train for 16 hours yesterday? You're crazy, dude."

Energetic and hard-working: even after everything he went through, Minjae still wants to keep on being idol. He takes on training with lots of energy and while he never looks happy while practicing or anything, he'll still be the most energetic of all. He is also very hard-working and tends to be the first one to arrive at the training room and the last one to leave. He often has to be dragged along by Minjin because otherwise he would overwork himself. He keeps going without any troubles. And people call Minjin the android.

Quiet and absentminded: Minjae used to be the life of the party, but that all changed. Now, Minjae is one who says less than necessary. He's very quiet, and when he doesn't need to talk, he simply doesn't. He just doesn't want to talk, and prefers to stay in the back, leaving his presence unknown. Unless when he's on stage of course. The only time when he wants to stand out is when he's on stage doing what he loves. He's also often just not listening to the others, drifting into thoughts of his own world. A sparkly imaginary world full of snow where it's only him, Minjin and the people they trust. And Minjae doesn't really trust Empire yet. Heck, he doesn't even really know them.

Naive and insecure: This has been luring all of Minjae's life. He has always been naive, and it made him quite insecure as well. Especially now. He used to trust people too easily, that has improved now, but once you gain his trust, you can basically say anything, and he'd believe it. As long as it is you who says it to him. He's always insecure that people are deceiving him or lying to him, and he's insecure about himself as well, but he somehow just keeps on believing.

"Oh god, I saw Minjae get stressed yesterday and I was afraid he would come murder me in my sleep."

Cowardly and neurotic: the things that happened to him left deep scars. Minjae was broken, tainted and just dead inside when he reunited with Minjin. It was so terrible, he was just a ghost of himself. It still shows very well. Minjae has zero courage left, and always has to ask his sister to do things to him. Even killing a spider is too much for him now, while he used to not care at all. He has also returned neurotic. Minjae's mental has become quite unstable. He gets triggered incredibly easy. When in distress, Minjae is so heavily affected that it becomes scary. He goes crazy, starts to tremble, breathes heavily, is unable to properly talk, starts walking around relentlessly. If it gets to the extremes, he even might start pulling his own hair and scratching his cheeks open. It's this bad, yes, and if you don't know how to deal with it, it's real scary. Currently the only ways to calm him down are hugs and calming words from Minjin or Jihae, or making him listen to calming songs. Performing on stage usually helps as well.

BACKGROUND Minjae was, just like his sister of course, born in Pyeongchang. 6 minutes earlier than little Minjin, and much louder than her. Their parents knew from the first moments that Minjae would be the loud and happy one of the two, and Minjin the calm one. It was just intuition, and they were absolutely right. Minjae was interested in a lot of things at first, and just ran around, Minjin following after him, doing whatever he did. Until the twins started to take a liking to music. it became their only priority, and Minjae went to learn guitar, separating from his sister.

When Minjae discovered TVXQ, he knew what he wanted to become. Idol like them. His sister wanted to follow, but their parents thought they were too young, and didn't allow the two to audition yet. When they were 14, they got the green light. Minjae started auditioning. His first try was YG, the company of his dreams, and he got rejected because he didn't really have much skills. He had to prepare more for his next audition. Minjae was a bright and optimistic child with lots of friends, so he was over it surprisingly quick. His visuals were amazing, so when he got scouted, he wasn't surprised to hear that it was because of that. It was an unknown company who were gathering their first boy group, and he would be guaranteed a spot. Minjae took the chance and joined them. HO entertainment. It was 2013. As you might know, Minjin auditioned too, but they didn't accept female trainees, so Minjin couldn't go to her brother. But Minjae seemed very happy, so Minjin was happy too. Minjae told her to go audition for YG, so that at least one of the Gook family could be in his dream company. Minjin did, after lots of preparations, and she got accepted. But you know that story. Let's focus more on Minjae's side now.

In 2015, Minjae and four other boys who he really liked made their debut. Wayve was the name. Delilah was their debut song. They were doing okay for a debut group, until the song somehow went viral, and the views skyrocketed. They didn't have a win with this song, but they did become one of 2015's monster rookies. With that, a huge new influx of trainees arrived, and HO was happy, because they always wanted a 6-membered group, but couldn't find the 6th member they wanted before. Now they had found the perfect pick, and only a few months after debut, a new member got added. His name was Yongdoo, and that was the moment when it all started to go downhill.

Yongdoo was a well-behaved pure flower boy on camera, and quickly rose to become the most popular member of Wayve. He just stood out so well and was so popular with the fangirls. A real heart stealer, and HO started to favor him heavily. But behind the scenes, behind closed doors, Yongdoo was the worst person Minjae ever met. Not even the other members knew about it. At moments Yongdoo and Minjae were alone, Yongdoo would harm Minjae, not physically, but mentally. Insults were thrown his way, Yongdoo played mind games with him, did the stuff he didn't like at all on purpose. It was crazy. Yongdoo was so good at mentally cracking Minjae, taking advantage of him. Yongdoo threatened to take it all out on Minjin if Minjae didn't listen, so he had basically become Yongdoo's slave, who couldn't say anything, even to the other members.

The group made a comeback, which gave them their first win, and multiple wins at that. Everyone was very statisfied, except for Minjae. Yongdoo started to get more threatening with every success they had. The success got to his head, and the mental abuse changed to physical abuse as well. Yongdoo knew what he was doing very well. He hit Minjae where it would not leave any trace. He 'accidentally' embarassed Minjae on broadcast multiple times, he made a fool of Minjae. No one noticed a thing. One day, Minjae dared to fight back, and they got into a big fist fight at the dorm,  Yongdoo would even end up breaking Minjae's nose. The other members and manager caught them fighting, and great distress came into the group. They were still promoting with their second song, and two members were fighting. They had to go talk to the CEO, to see who was at fault. Minjae, who was already a broken man, was unable to talk. He could only bring out coarse squeaks, he couldn't say a word. Yongdoo was the one to talk, and he twisted it that way that it seemed like minjae was at fault, that minjae was the bully and that Yongdoo was the victim. The CEO didn't fully believe him, but since Yongdoo was the big star of Wayve, he decided to kick out Minjae anyway. It created big buzz, Wayve member Minjae leaving because of 'scheduling issues'. Also the other members of Wayve thought that Minjae was at fault, and they turned against him. Minjae had no choice but to go to Minjin, but he didn't want to show his broken self to his sister, but otherwise, Minjae wouldn't be able to find a way out, and it would probably have ended up with... something way worse. he would've been gone if he didn't have Minjin at that time.

As you know, after Minjae rested and calmed down for a bit, recovering from his broken nose, Minjin asked him if he still wanted to be an idol. To Minjin's surprise, she got a full-mouthed yes from him. She could even sense a sprinkle of excitement and warmth in his voice. It made Minjin hopeful that one day, Minjae could be fine, could be the happy, cheerful boy he once was. Minjae auditioned for YG again, and got accepted this time. He didn't say any word for two weeks, only to Minjin, and if he would speak, he would still have a coarse and broken small voice. It was clearly visible to anyone how broken and scarred he was. He was a ice cold blizzard blowing through YG, bringing distress when he was in stress himself, but when he would smile, like once a month at most, the other trainees could all sense warmth. There's still hope, and hope is the most important.

GOOK MINJIN the small twin, 18, member of Empire / Minjin is the one who kept Minjae on his feet. She was torn when she saw Minjae so broken, and it was the only time that the other trainees really saw her show any strong emotion. She cried twice. When Minjae was kicked out of Wayve, and when she saw Minjae again for the first time. Minjin depends on Minjae to be able to socialise, and Minjae depends on Minjin for literally everything. Minjin doesn't mind and patiently cares for her brother with lots of love and warmth, trying to melt his heart, while her own is frozen.

LEE JIHAE the bestie, 19, student / having freshly started college, Jihae has recently become busy. Jihae has been Minjin and Minjae's best friend for a long time now. She knows all their struggles, has known them since kindergarten when they were isolated, and has helped them out. She's the sunshine the twins need at the moment, the only one who can melt their frozen heart, at the moment. It's a surprise how a girl so happy and wild ended up with two cold people, but that's because Minjae used to be bright as her, and Minjin just tagged along. When the twins are with Jihae, they forget about their cold personality and lack of trust and completely brighten up. Maybe one day, this could be empire, but for now, empire just has to deal with the frost babies being their usual frosty selves. (fc: elris sohee)

Minjae used to love them so much, he still loves them way too much, actually. They never knew about his abuse cause Yongdoo was so good at hiding it, and when they caught the two fighting, they were in great panick because they didn't know who to side with. The four boys wanted to side with the right guy, but up til now, they still believe that Minjae was the bad guy, and so they turned against him and sided with Yongdoo, even though they all feel like something's off. They just want to know the truth. Somewhere they still have that belief hidden, the belief that their maknae wasn't the bad guy. But if the truth ever comes out, that's up to our lord and savior Neoculture_dorknology. NAM YONGDOO the man who did it all. 22. member of Wayve / This man. This is the one to be blamed. This is the one who Minjin wants to crucify. Oh dear if she ever meets his ... Yongdoo mentally and later on physically abused Minjae, and even though it was for less than a year, it took such a huge toll on Minjae that he completely turned around in personality. He has become a broken man, and Yongdoo? he's still laughing cause he was able to play it to his advantage. But will he laugh long, or will he be shut up? That's the question. TRAINING BACKGROUND Actually, Minjae's training was not bad at all! Yongdoo only came into his life when he was already active as idol after all. Minjae was generally treated well by both companies he has been part of. In HO media he had his clear place, and they put a lot of work into exploring his talents. In YG they let him work endlessly, but also gave him the space he needed to be able to function properly. It's a surprise on how they both gave him freedom. On that field, Minjae at least got lucky. Or maybe it's because he's such a hard-working guy, a model trainee. He always trained with lots of energy, no matter how exhausted or broken he was outside of training. He always wanted to stay with Minjin, but that wasn't always possible.

"A new group suddenly appeared, Wayve's debut song goes viral in Korea" / the incredible start of Wayve's career. It was such a surprise on how they were suddenly bombarded to fame. Guess they debuted with the right song at the right time.

"Wayve's Minjae missing from latest performance, worrying fans" / after the fight. Minjae's nose was broken, he was in the hospital at that moment, and there was no official statement because there was just no time to do it. It brought great distress into the fandom.

"Wayve's Minjae announced to have left the group due to scheduling issues" / Yeah you know that this is all not true, but the fans believed it, and were all very sad to see their maknae go. Wayve from then on went on as 5, and they still are. But there are still a bunch of fans who want to see Minjae back. Soon they will be able to see him again, but they will immediately notice how different he is on variety shows.

"Wayve's Minjae debuting under Empire with the stagename Eirwen" / yay, celebration day for the fans when Empire revealed Minjae as their december member. (heh that rhymes). His fans were really happy to see and hear him again, but once they will see and hear him on variety shows, they will notice something's wrong.

"Why did Empire's Eirwen undergo such a big change?" / Minjae and the company were unable to hide that he changed, and fans caught on immediately. They will worry themselves sick and suspect that something's wrong in Empire mainly. But some smart fans will suspect that it has to do with Wayve instead of Empire.

(optional) "The truth finally revealed about former Wayve member, Empire's Eirwen" / this depends on when and if min wants the truth to be revealed, but it would shake up the industry as Wayve is one of the big groups and so is Empire. It would all immediately change, and it might make Minjae improve greatly, seeing justice as Yongdoo goes down, s coming back to him and everyone suddenly caring for him. But it might also make his anxiety issues worse because now everyone knows about his issues. Depends on what min wants to do with it all.

COMMENTS hey Min so yeah this was probably a BIG ride for you and it was a huge ride for me too. I've never written a character this dark and I am very worried about it since I really don't want to romanticise or trivialise abuse and all that stuff. I really tried to show that it is not a cool thing, and that it left Minjae broken. I hope you don't mind this darker background and personality... I just got the idea when I saw your plotline requests so yeah I'm going to put the blame on you. Just kidding.
