background. jooyeon was born in jeju island. being born in a countryside, she grew up with that optimistic attitude. she grew up really adventurous, she would always go on adventures with her brother like hiking, camping and surfing. she also accompanies her grandmother, who was part of the last generation of 'korean mermaids'. though her grandmother doesn't let her use the same gear as them, she would still dive with them and catch abalone, conch and even octopus. she pretty much was like a mermaid as well because of her love for the ocean. if she wasn't diving in the ocean, she would help with her dad's tangerine farm and he gives her pocket money after. despite having a very boyish side to her, she also learned how to play the piano at a young age, coz well her mom said so.

other than her adventurous childhood, she's really good with her academics. she gets pretty high grades. when she was in 4th grade, she lost her mother from cancer. it affected her a lot but her brother and dad was there for her. she wanted to be a writer after she read the book 'the good earth' when after discovering it in her mom's stuff when they were cleaning her stuff. plus her mom was a literature teacher. though there were a lot of things and terms a 4th grader's mind couldn't understand in the book, she was really moved by the story. she started writing very light-hearted drabbles like how the tangerine's life come to be and all that. she also wrote her mom's everyday life before she passed.

during the summer of her 2nd year in middle school, her dad, brother and grandmother went to seoul for summer vacation for a change. her brother kept bugging their dad how he wanted to experience city life. they stayed there for a week and on the fourth day there, they were approached by a man claiming that he was a sm entertainment scout manager. he gave his business card to her dad and explained that he wanted to scout jooyeon. jooyeon just stared at them wide-eyed and an opened mouth, coz she was thinking "is this man serious?". they stepped into a cafe where the man explained further. her dad was hesitant at first but her grandmother was like 'go for it' and kept complimenting her granddaughter (imagine mulan's granny hahahaha). her brother too was encouraging her to do it, explaining that being scouted doesn't happen everyday. jooyeon was confused, she loved music and she even hangs out at a record store but she has never thought of singing as a profession. but something inside her wanted to do it. her dad asked her if she wanted to and without thinking, she blurted out that she wanted to atleast try. her dad couldn't help but allow his princess to do what she decided herself. she went for a screening test before she flew back to jeju to pack her things.

trainee life.

— her trainee life was a series of roller coasters, ups, downs, adrenaline, nausea and unsureness. the mentors were pretty strict with every single trainee and the atmosphere was really toxicating and competitive. being scouted because of her visuals, a lot of trainees look down on her for just being a pretty face. and because she's jooyeon, she wanted them all to eat their words and prove to them that she can improve and be called skilled and talented as well. they trained her to be a vocal, complimenting that she has a pretty vocal tone. the vocal trainer was strict when it came to proper breathing and proper techniques, so she knew that she's in good hands vocal-wise. she isn't a powerhouse singer, but she can still hit high notes, especially after proper and strict training. 

her dancing though.. well ugh.. she wasn't a very good dancer and she admits to that. she's often one of the trainees that the dance mentors would scold for being behind everyone. she had a hard time memorizing routines and would most of the time look confused as hell. but the duration of seven years training showed in her skills. she improved from being left feeted to being able to execute dance routines in a precise and smooth way. she's not a power dancer, she's more of a smooth dancer, the type that makes any dance look easy and natural because of how smooth her movements are  (kinda like how donghyuck dances). she might not be in the dance line in blue moon (coz sm idol dancers are amazing af), but if you put her in another group, she will most likely be a lead dancer.

other than both dancing and singing, she still continued to take piano lessons and even started learning the guitar as well. she also continued with her passion for writing. she practiced her usual style of writing into a more poetic style that can be used as song lyrics. she also started practicing songwriting, like actual music composition with her knowledge of the piano. she still lacks in a lot of aspects and skills but she's determined to improve. since she's currently learning music production in college, her next goal is to actually produce a whole song by herself. it was then she realized how music is a big part in her life now and she can't imagine life without it. it helped her cope with the struggles and the sense of defeat she felt during her training because of the endless trainees lookng down on her. yes she was street casted, yes she had no plans of becoming an idol before, yes she had no talent in performing, but that doesn't mean she can't learn to love all those. and she wants to prove how sincere she has become in what she does and that this has become what she really wants to do and how much she became to love music.

— chan is a huge ball of sunshine. he's always smiling and laughing and it is contagious. he's the definition of a beagle. he's always active, moving and is pretty unpredictable and weird. people don't usually think that he's smart as he is because of his personality. he likes to tell jokes and goof around. he's friendly and doesn't have a hard time to befriend others, and people don't take long to come to like him. he's also hardworking and doesn't like worrying others, so he tends to keep his burdens to himself. he has a kind heart and doesn't think twice before helping someone. he also has good leadership skills and knows when to step up. he has good talking skills so he's most likely to be the first one to speak up about an issue or something. when he's angry, he gets quiet and it is pretty evident on his face. but he doesn't let it affect his work. he tends to overwork himself without holding himself back and is pretty stubborn about it. he takes pride in everything he does and is pretty hard on himself when he isn't satisfied with the results. he has a habit of putting others first before himself too so whenever there needs to be a decision whether he protects his image or something or yeyeon's. he would choose to protect yeyeon without any second thoughts. he's the type that also takes care of people behind the scenes despite having a loud personality.

— they are childhood besties. their father's have known each other since middle school and are very close, thus making them and their families close as well. chan's dad is a partial owner of their tangerine farm but her dad has higher percentage ownership since he was the own who started it. they used to go out and play a lot together alongside her brother and chan's two brothers (this is why jooyeon is so very boyish). they would go to the beach or the park and even hills. she would also hang out in chan's family record store and she would listen to several records before chan suggests getting ice cream. chan was also very supportive when jooyeon lost her mother, despite being very young that time. he held her hand all through out the funeral. when jooyeon told him she would be moving to seoul to become a trainee, he was really sad about being separated with her but even though they were miles apart, they still communicate with each other a lot, thanks to the internet.

chan was actually inspired by jooyeon when she started sending audio clips of her singing to her own compositions. when she told him to try singing her song, she complimented his voice and that actually made him want to try being an idol. he told her about his decision and she was full on very supportive of it. they agreed to meet when chan moved to seoul. both of them were nervous to see each other for the first time after four years. when they saw each other, they hugged for a good minute before chattering as if they weren't apart for many years. chan revealed he got accepted by jyp entertainment. they talked about a lot of things and caught up with each other's lives. chan moved to another agency, beat interactive and was immediately placed into a soon to debut boy group. he told her all their plans of doing busking performances first and jooyeon promised to attend every performance that she can and she did and only missed a few because of her training schedule. she also attended their debut performance. 

then she told him about being chosen as a member for sm's upcoming girl group to debut in 2018. chan was very ecstatic for her and she jokingly calls him sunbae. chan then told her that he'll be participating in the unit with his jun hyung. jooyeon didn't like the idea coz she never really liked survival shows, it adds mental stress to the idols and trainees. it may also cause trauma in her opinion but seeing chan's determination, she couldn't helpt but support him. she promised to attend performances if she can and in the end attended all of them. chan told her his struggles and difficulties during the whole program. she saw how passionate he was and it saddened her that he wasn't recieving the recognition he deserves. in the finale, she sat with chan's aunt and when he was one of the four nominees for top 9, she felt like she's gonna melt from the nervousness. she cried alongside chan's aunt when he was revealed to be the last member for unti b's debut group. though chan didn't mention her in his speech to avoid scandals, she knew his feelings. 

she found out that their debut is on the same month, but since she won't be promoting, she told him that she will still monitor his activities and maybe give feedbacks. so every performance, she would give her honest thoughts especially in the singing aspect. she knows how hard a song to sing feeling is especially with the choreo. and she witnessed chan breaking his voice in a few performances. so she tried to use her knowledge in the seven years she trained to help him. and when her music video was released, chan immediately complimented her, especially how she mostly wrote the lyrics to the song. he also said that he watches her blue moon tv (??) videos. chan also said since even though they'll be both busy from then on out, he will still bug her and call her and talk to her whenever he can. and that same goes for jooyeon. and even though they don't contact each other, they both know how the other is feeling and how they're both supporting each other. 

then aug 6 2018, jooyeon felt really off one moment in the day and then she found out that chan was involved in a car crash. almost bursting into tears, she called jun, member of a.c.e (she got his number since they've known each other for two years now) to ask an update on chan's condition. he said they're still checking up on him and that he'll stay on the phone with her until they got news. jooyeon was actually trembling during the wait, and her members were all around her, comforting her. then jun told her that chan didn't have any major and serious injuries but is taking treatment. jun told her he'll message her if she can call chan. when he recieved an okay from jun, she immediately called chan and when he picked up, she was about to scream her lungs out but chan beat her to it by saying that he knows, and that he was sorry for worrying her. and with that, she immediately burst into tears, calling him an idiot over and over again. he was actually laughing while she was crying, nerve of that idiot, he assured her he was fine to the point that he can participate in a.c.e's activities in japan. she asked about his injuries and everything and he patiently and thoroughly explained his condition. after the call, jooyeon just realized that she has feelings for chan. and well fook. 

the ending. 

— chan having feelings for her already and jooyeon recently realized she had feelings for him as well and neither one admitting it to the other coz they scared af. after jooyeon realized her feelings, it was so hard for her not to act awkward around chan but she did a good job not making her feelings obvious. though whenever they make eye contact, she has a hard time maintaining it now. chan did notice a change, and he did think that maybe jooyeon has feelings for him as well but right now they're both focusing on their careers and maybe sometime in the future, once they set a name for themselves in the industry, chan will confess and then they'll date secretly at first before going public.
