To say Yanting was a "social butterfly" would make anyone that knew him laugh, or stare at you like you lost your mind. Yanting doesn't understand the concept of conveying emotions to others, something s have picked up. He prefers sitting on his bed listening to music and reading over playing games in the middle of the night with the other members. They soon began to see it as cute as he would randomly say something when he wants to speak. Fans wouldn't really notice he was gone unless they wanted to watch his reactions to the absurd things their members do. Even though he is on the younger scale of the group, he cares about how the other members feel about things he does. He always makes sure everyone has a place to sit if not, he will just stand until all of them have sat down.

Rationality isn't on his side, he thinks with his heart rather than his mind. Which leads to his hopes and dreams of a great romance, filled with love and admiration. Way too many dramas and romance webtoons, in the members' opinion. Yanting loves love, he thinks relationships are a thing to be cherished. Routines, are kind of his thing. He enjoys having a morning and nght routine from skincare to the order members use the bathroom. It shows on his face if he misses something in the morning, he spaces out and thinks about how forgetting that one thing will effect the rest of his day. He even created a schedule for the members in the morning so everyone isn't rushed or late. He finds meaning in the little things, like when fans give him the smallest gifts he treasures them because they thought of him when buying even a keychain. Yanting may be quiet and prefer to be alone during rest time, but, he turns into a puppy when full of energy. He loves to hold the other members' hands or arms trying to share his love for them. To which fans get excited over his need to be touching one of them during an interveiw or at fanmeetings where being around new people can become to overwhelming for him at times.

He is able to become a powerful person just with his dancing alone. When on shows he normally talks a bit more than he normally does but, still exudes his natural calm aura. Its different if its just him and the guys of Little Bang, he just lets his weird out. He loves pleasing the members by making them laugh or playing along with them. background — Yanting, was the kid no one wanted to be friends with, he was unkept and quiet. His home life wasn't that great either, his parents worked multiple jobs to keep the lights on, rarely having time to make him food or make sure he was taken care of. At the age of four, his mother had become pregnant by her superoir at one of her jobs. His parents divorced then and there, his mother moving in with the other man taking Yanting with her. Yanting was practically ignored by his new family, often not even fed or not allowed in the kitchen, as he got older he just assumed that was how every family was. His younger sister, Yanyi being put in Ballet and modern dance classes, Yanting would pick her up but, would leave school early just to watch her dance. They would go home, and she would teach him what she learned that day. Which started the tradition of the two dancing together when he wasn't studying. Beginning a spark for his love for dancing.

 

In his first year of middle school, his stepfather had hired a chef, Yanting's dream had come true. She would cook extra food for him to eat during the day, which was more food than an average kid should have been able to eat. He would eat it relatively fast and didn't know how to save food for later as his lunch now consited of three meals in itself, causing himself to throw up through out the day. This was also the year he met his bestfriend, Xiao Gun, whom always gave him medicine when he return to class during their lunch break. To repay him for his kindness, Yanting would leave snacks in the other's desk when he got to school.

 

The two slowly became close, while walking around the main square in their first year of high school, the two were standing at a food stall. Yanyi was watching some street performers, as Xiao Gun ordered them food. 

"Excuse me, do you know of SM Entertainment?" A man asked, pulling out a business card, handing it to Yanting. 

 

"I think I heard of it." Yanting answered.

"There is a open audition next Friday at noon, I would like you to come an audition. The address is on the card. I hope to see you there." With that he left, Yanyi looked at her brother with a raised eyebrow.

 

The whole week, he spent coming up with choreo with the held of Yanyi and Xiao Gun. He would spend every break between classes with headphones in, dancing in the hallway in the most simpliest way. Everyone would just watch him float through the hall.

 

Passing the audition, he soon began training in the facility in China. Soon being moved to Korea to train alondside future NCT members. His mother and stepfather strongly against him becoming a singer, the chef on the other hand, cried and cheered him on.

She knows how scared he is have not being able to eat again.

Yanting is kind of afaird of Jongjin, like one he will snap and kill him for asking to stop on the side of the road, again. Jongjin is the one who takes him to the hospital when he gets sick.

TRAINEE LIFE — 

When Yanting first started training in SM it was hell, he barely slept, barely made it to class, but, somehow always food time to eat. He would fall asleep with food in his mouth, while on the bus to school. When SM began preparing for the debut of NCT in 2015, Yanting was moved to Korea, where is training only worsened, on top of practicing, he had to attend langauge classes when he could have spent his extra time eating, which he still ate in class. He spent the winter half of the year, struggling, and disliking the company more and more, as they seemed to let him fade in the background as other trainees began being formed into groups. He was walking back to the dorm with Win Win when he spotted the flyer for an open audition by a company called UNIQ, he was intrigued. Win Win tried to tell him not to do it, but, Yanting was tired of being the one on the outskirts of the SM Rookies. 

So on May 4, the Chinese male attended the audition, after being accepted he already felt the enviroment differently. There were less trainees and the company was not as intense, which made sense to Yaning. He still spent a majority of his time pacticing until the sun came up than spent the rest of his time eating or sleeping. He missed his friends, sure, but he was happier where he was.

— He quickly swallowed what was in his mouth. "Hello I'm Yan. It's nice to meet you." He politely bowed his head, giving a small smile.

how do you feel about debuting?

— He playing with the rip in his jeans, "It's exciting. I have been working hard for 4 years, so it's something I have been looking forward to." He nodded his head as he spoke.

i see. what about your thoughts to your group members? how is your relationship with them?

— He looked off to the side avoiding eye contact, "They are great. Uh, I mean 'Sloth' could come to practice more but, I'm not complaining. I like to believe its a good relationship. We get on each other's nerves alot, and some of them get mad when I eat their food but, it's like a family. I guess." He muttered the last bit, hoping none of the guys could hear him. 

do you plan to change what relationship you have now to each member or retain them?

— He thought for a second before answering. "I think my relationships with are pretty good, none of them have threatened to kill me yet. So, its not bad." He nervously laughed, obviously uncomfortable with these questions.

— "I don't think I have a lot of charm. Um I guess it would be dancing. If we just move-" knocks over the chair he was sitting on, he just stares at it for a second before moving it. A empty candy wrapper laying on the floor, Jongjin glaring at him as he picked it up.

— "I'm in charge of dancing along with 'Lust', along with rap and vocals. I also consider myself the foodie of the group. I know where to get whatever food you want." He smiled fairly proud of his knowledge, Jongjin facepalming.

personality — Xiao Gun is the opposite of Yanting, he is outgoing, rebelious and personable. He gets along with people well, being able to read emotions and atmospheres easily, working perfectly with Yanting. Xiao Gun is always the person to talk to strangers in line for coffee, or get to know the whole life story of a lady selling flowers. He over protective, basically of anyone that gives him a kind or weak vibe. He was a rebel when he met Yanting, he likes to have control of his life, it was his only sense of control. Xiao Gun would get fights easily, due to his blunt words and sharp tongue. Something Yanting scolds him about. 

first meeting — The first day of their first year of middle school, Yanting was assigned his seat right next to Xiao Gun, the two never talked to each other. Mostly cause Xiao Gun spent his time in class sleeping.

developement — Xiao Gun liked to mind his own business, so when he began to notice the pattern of Yanting running off every break his curiousity was peaked. He normally only noticed the quiet boy taking notes and mnching on something when they were in class. One day, Xiao Gun followed the other during the break to see where he had ran off to so much. When he entered the bathroom after him, he heard Yanting vomiting, slowly leaving the bathroom in the hopes he wouldn't want to help the kid. The next day, before class he found himself in the pharmacy holding medicine. So, when the first break ended and Yanting returned to class, taking his seat. Xiao Gun slid the medicine onto his desk and put his head back down as if nothing happened.

 

"Don't be sick." The first time Xiao Gun had spoken to the other.

 

Yanting began smiling at him everyday and greeting him off putting Xiao Gun, by the way his smile made his hear flutter.
love story — The two soon somehow became really close during school at least, Xiao Gun spent rest of his time smoking and drinking with his older friends. One day Yanting went to pick Yanyi up from dance class as they were walking home they passed Xiao Gun and his friends. The way Yanting danced on the sidewalk with Yanyi with a smile plastered on his face, caused Xiao Gun to smile. He would shake his head, trying to wipe away the thought. The week before exams arrived, Yanting was helping Xiao Gun study.

 

"I can't concentrate with those idiots joking around." Xiao Gun groaned, Yanting sighed. "Let's study after school, you can come over to my house." He offered, Yanting nodded as one of the idiots fell backwards almost hitting Yanting, Xiao Gunpushing the guy against the wall. "Watch what you are doing." He growled before sitting back down next to Yanting whom only laughed.

 

"You're that Xiao Min's son?" Yanting asked, as he looked around the emacculement house.

 

"Don't tell anyone I'm rich by association." He joked, looking through his kitchen.

 

AFter finding his large book collection and similar taste in movies and shows, the two were soon inseperable. Xiao Gun started to stop rebeling and focused more on school with his assitantance. Yanyi began to become his little sister, as he would walk with them home. So when Yanting got the business card, he felt his world begin to crumble, seeing the way Yanting's face would ligt up when he danced. When Yanting passed the audition, and was kicked out by his parents he stayed with Xiao Gun for the week leading up to him moving into the dorm. The last night at Xiao Gun's, he was sitiing in Xiao Gun's room studying with him when, the other broke the silence.

 

"Have you ever kissed someone?"

Yan was taken back by the question, he shook his head.

 

"Do you like girls?"

Another weird question, Yanting thought and shrugged. "They are pretty but, I have never had a crush on someone."

 

"Can I kiss you?"

 

Yanting could see how nervous Xiao Gun was as he was staring at his notebook where he sat on the floor leaning against his bed, while Yanting laid on the bed above him on his stomach.

 

"Isn't that weird?"

 

Yanting looked at Xiao Gun's deflated shoulders as he sighed. "No, if you like boys, you like boys." Yanting said, it was the first time he had even thought about it.

 

"But, what if its you I like. Not any other boy." 

 

Yanting peered at Xiao Gun's face to see him blushing slightly, Yanting smiled to himself, before moving his face closer to his and kissing his blushing cheek. "As long as you always only like me."

 

The two never spoke of it again, until Yanting was leaving to Korea. When they both decided having a relationship would be tough to begin with. The two remained best friends for years, when late 2018 rolled around. Xiao Gun covered Chinese news sites as the next CEO of XIAO Technologies, along with being engaged to the daughter (Yi Shenyue) of another company's CEO. It broke Yanting to congratulate his best friend, due to the lingering feelings he would probably have for awhile.

The two had not seen each other in person until, Temptation were promoting, and Xiao Gun was accompanying his father on a business meeting in Korea. Xiao Gun's father, loved Yanting for getting his son back on track so, he invited the idol out to dinner at their hotel. The three talked all night, Xiao Gun's eyes never leaving Yanting. They bid his father goodbye, Xiao Gun brought him back to his room, saying he had a gift from yanyi for him. As soon as the door closed, Xiao Gun kissed Yanting. And you can figure out what they spent the rest of the night doing. (WINK WINK)

 

"I don't think your fiance would like to know what you did." Yanting said buttoning his pants as Xiao Gun laid on the bed his back against the wall.

 

"Trust me, she does the same thing every chance she gets. She hates me." Xiao Gun said, grabbing his phone off the night stand. "I didn't know you had a tattoo." 

 

"I don't tell you everything as much as you think." Yanting said, putting his shirt on, and grabbing his shirt. ", I got to go. Jongjin is going to kill me." He rushed, putting on his shoes, as Xiao Gun stood up walking him to the door.

 

"Dad is moving me to the Korean office, after I graduate. Come see me sometime." Xiao Gun said with a smirk.

 

"Why? So I can feel heart broken everytime I see you?" Yanting mumbled to himself, Xiao Gun sighed, pulling his face towards his own.

 

"So I can get ed. And cuddle, I mean, and . I don't care what she thinks, I just want to spend time with you, got it?" Xiao Gun ordered, whatever he says goes. "I know how you are Yanting, I don't want you to get your hopesup for something and get crushed."

 

"Okay." He muttered, avoiding the others eyes.

 

"Good news, my dad would probably gladly accept you as a mistress." Xiao Gun joked, giving the other smile his heart fluttering at the action. "Go. I'll text you." Xiao Gun said, kissing Yanting on the lips sending him off back into the real world.
