He always stands out in a crowd because of his colorful clothing with new but amazing combinations. Okay it's not always all colorful and bright, he sometimes wears just plain stuff as well, but the colorful stuff is what he's known for. Yellow, red and blue are his main colors but he also loves to rock some purple or orange, and he mostly wears shirts or hoodies with graphic, big patterns on it. ( appearance ) : he's all the same, a beautiful man with bewitching, big eyes. The only thing that is a bit different from his faceclaim is that his hair is even puffier, softer and more explosive. It was already bad, but haitao's hair is so hard to deal with while being so damn soft. Whenever a bit of humidity comes close, it just explodes and ruins the styling. He also has a tattoo on his left wrist which is well-known to the public already, so he doesn't bother hiding it.

hUMOROUS AND QUICK-witted: this kid has an amazing sense of humor. Sometimes he can be too savage or try to be funny at the wrong moments, but at least he's trying to brighten up the mood? He has a very quick mind so he can come up with witty answers quickly and he's also good at finding new jokes. With haitao, it's often a fun time filled with laughter. but he also makes puns that make you want to slam your head against the wall, on purpose. He likes hearing people scream over his puns. is evil.

intelligent but stupid??: This kid has an iq of 148 and is supposed to be really ing smart, then why is he so goddamn stupid? Okay, yes, he's smart and is like really good at learning and thinking and , but at the same time he can just be so stupid that it again wants to make people slam their heads against the wall. Man, what a harmful kid he is. Somehow he can just make such stupid decisions when he's out of it cause he's such an airhead.

optimistic and energetic: This kid is a big ball of energy. he's as jumpy as his hair. In both ways. He has way too much energy and spends lots of time jumping around and just having fun. He sees something fun even in the small things that only little kids would have fun with. He also has the attention span and mindset of a child. He always tries to stay positive and tries to keep others positive as well! but he sometimes has way too much energy, especially when he's exhausted, he becomes really hyper and it can be a real pain to have a hyper haitao at 3 am.
 
"Oh my god that guy was scary! Did you see that glare? Keiko, why aren't you afraid? He might you!" - "Haitao... it was just hyuk-kun. You know? my neighbour?" - "Oh."
 
cowardly: it's seriously so funny how this kid gets scared of literally everything. He gets startled at every strange and loud noise. He doesn't really have any specific big fear or phobia, but he's just so damn jumpy that it's sometimes a pain, but often hilarious.
 
"I feel like I should be in charge since I am the smartest. I mean... I don't want to make you guys feel dumb, but I am - in fact - smarter."
 
arrogant and cocky: Haitao has the looks, fame and the intelligence. he does have the skills to be rightfully arrogant, but he can really take it too far without realising. He loves to brag when he does something good, he just can't shut up about himself sometimes and because of his intelligence, he sometimes puts himself above others. When he gets put into his place though, he'll apologise and realise what he did was wrong, until he does it again.
 
"Haitao-kun? Why are you in the girls' room?" - "Oh... When did I get here?"
 
airheaded: This is probably the reason why haitao's so stupid sometimes. He really gets lost sometimes and can easily drift off in his thoughts. He can sometimes go to a room and then forget why he was in that room. He can remember something, and five seconds later it would be forgotten completely. It's odd, but he's really trying to remember everything.
 
( background ) : haitao was born in your average chinese family. he was the only child, his parents were on the average side of earnings, and haitao was the only child. haitao was supposed to have a normal life just like his parents, but that soon proved to not be true. his parents thought he was a dumb child, until he read his first word at the age of 2. His parents immediately went crazy and sent the child to several doctors to see what was going on. After stressful tests, it was proven that this young boy had a high IQ, very high, but he just didn't always show it because his head was foggy. haitao was a lovely child, but especially very tiring to deal with. and so it remained that way.
 
his parents always tried to make haitao focus on studying so he could become like a rich lawyer or doctor, but haitao never liked that. yes, he did study english in a whim, but that was because he wanted to be able to watch his favourite shows, anime. He also liked music shows, and it was what sparked his interest the most. Music. Haitao really liked the melodies, and his intelligence really showed in the music, being able to detect melodies, notes in chords and more like that. It was like his high iq was only meant for his ears and voice. he always had this lovely voice color that remained throughout the years, and his vocal teacher predicted that he would do very well as idol. he looked great as well, and had personality.
 
while his parents were originally against it, haitao became a trainee when he was 14. in china. two years later, in 2014, he debuted with his group, TRS (they weren't very good with group names and so am i! kill me.). They released four songs in total, but while they were very popular, the company didn't know how to deal with them, and their ceo decided to disband them without any warning in 2017, and abandoned the company. The three boys were completely lost, because it was all so sudden. One of them decided to call it quits and went on to live a normal life, but haitao and libao wanted to go on. They both applied to participate in idol producer as individual trainees. While he was idol and participant in idol producer, he was also known as cosplayer and model.
 
Idol producer was odd for the two, but they had a great time performing on stage and making new friends. They were very popular, both have even been in the top 9 in at least one elimination. Libao ended up at #12. Haitao's final rank was a big upset. he had been in the top 9 all this time, everyone expected him to debut, but the sudden rise of lin yanjun in the final meant that there was a drop-out too, and that was xu haitao, who ended up at #10. the sadness haitao felt was unbelievable, until he started to get better offers from other companies. He first joined yuehua, then he trained in banana culture, but nothing fit him. his parents wanted him to stay in china, But haitao didn't want it in china anymore, he felt like he had seen everything of china, and so he went to korea, where the industry was already stable. and that's how he ended up here, in one of the bigger companies, bighit. just a few months ago, he suddenly came to audition, and of course bighit would take such a big star in china under their wings, the publicity could be unbelievable. And he has talent, that's for sure. But if the trainees were so happy that a new powerhouse and strong contender for the line-up joined right before vrsa's debut? i don't think so... evil tongues even whisper that he's a position thief.

• best friend #1 : chen aiguo (18) / student / friendly, helpful, pessimistic, easily discouraged / 10/10 / Aiguo used to be the most popular member of TRS. He had the looks, the charms and the voice as well, he just raked in the fangirls like it was nothing. But behind that cheerful boy is one who easily gets sad, and always had to be dragged along by Haitao and cheered up by Libao. After the sudden disbandment, Aiguo quickly lost his courage and decided to leave the stage. He would be a star with TRS, or no star. He's now finishing high school and plans to go to college. The only way to get him to perform again is to actually reunite TRS. It's really too bad cause Aiguo has lots of talent. He and the others of TRS still remain best friends and he tries to call a lot and sometimes even comes over to Korea with Libao to visit Haitao and support him. (fc: chen linong)
 
• best friend #2 : zheng libao (17) / solo artist / energetic, bright, childish, stubborn / 10/10 / TRS' youngest, the cute little baby that brings sunshine. He is like a little brother to Haitao and also to Aiguo even though they only differ a few months (both are 2000 liners). He's adorable, way too adorable, so Haitao never understood why he was more popular than the little baby. They went on idol producer together and even then, Haitao placed two spots higher than Libao. But Libao is a sunshine who doesn't care at all. He soon after debuted as a solo artist under Yuehua. Yes, Haitao and Libao used to be under Yuehua together, but they left Haitao in the dust, which made especially Libao sad. (fc: zhong chenle)
 
• daaaaaad : ahn sungcheol (26) / professional annoying dad / sien is lazy / 8/10 / you ever wonder what would happen when you put an annoying, tired dad and a smartass son together? well, you get sungcheol and haitao. They were able to get close quickly because sungcheol was basically the only one haitao could talk with at first, knowing little to no korean but both being fluent at english. Thank you anime, thank you. Anyway, they can go from loving father and son to fighting idiots. probably because haitao loves to diss sungcheol, especially on his long training time while not doing , while haitao himself has been in a group for three years and got into the final for a survival show in a shorter time. Some people just have the looks and talent, some others don't. (that's what haitao says!) he should feel lucky that sungcheol is too loving to strangle his .
 
• anime supplier : tamano keiko (19) / the nation's cutie / again, sien is lazy / 6/10 / keiko and haitao can barely communicate because both are still lacking in korean (at least keiko is not the worst! but haitao is going to catch up soon enough because of his brains). But Haitao does know some weeb japanese. He usually talks to keiko to ask her for help with translating something Japanese or beg for her to get him some anime merch, or he's freaking out about how scary that Kwonhyuk guy is, and warning Keiko that she's going to get . It's not the first time that she has punched him in the face. Oh boy, if you think kwonhyuk is scary, you should never meet terufumi. He's going to kill Haitao for sure.
 
• little cocky brother : ling chao (17) / member of oner / spoiled child, arrogant, cocky, but still a sweet kid and fun to be around / 9/10 / in idol producer, Haitao and libao mostly sticked together, but they also befriended other contestants of course. The one they got the closest to is Ling Chao, the little kid from Qin's entertainment. He's a bit like a younger version of Haitao, so they bonded immediately and decided to be the cocky es together. They could be so much fun, but they could also be a huge pain to the other contestants. Haitao would always give his food to Ling Chao and Libao cause they're so skinny, even though he himself was always the one complaining that he's hungry.

( trainee years ) : 2 years under StarY entertainment (imaginary), 3 years active as trs, 5 months for idol producer, 6 months under yuehua entertainment, 5 months banana culture and 2 months under bighit
( trainee life ) : Haitao has been under four companies total, and it's been one heck of a ride for him. All of the companies were a lot different for him, StarY treated him normally, Yuehua dropped him quickly, Banana culture were trying hard but they just weren't his thing, and Bighit pretty much praised him into the heavens. It was good for Haitao that he was treated well at least, because StarY wasn't really good, and Haitao got quite scarred because Yuehua dropped him and debuted his best friend on his own right in front of him. Haitao works like the average level right now and does what he has to do, but doesn't really care because he knows he's on top, he knows he's good and he knows that he has a big chance of debuting because he's already very popular, skilled and experienced. Some trainees don't really like him for that, though. He has only been in Bighit for two months, but immediately became the #1 male vocal and face of the group. Other trainees who have been in bighit for longer are quite unamused, but you can't say that he's untalented or debuted too early. He had lots of training and experience before.

( what are you thoughts in being in a co-ed group? ) : it's weird, to be honest... i'm used to working with boys only... the only girls I've been close to working with are Jieqiong and Chng Xiao on idol producer... I don't really know any girl well yet so I hope it will work out.
( interesting. well, do you have any problems living with the oppposite gender in your dorms? ) : Nahh not really, I don't know anyone well yet, I've only been here for a few months. I'm not thinking about the gender, I'm just thinking about how I'm going to live with a bunch of people I don't really know... At least I had Libao in idol producer?
( i see, i see. how about telling me what makes you different from the rest of your group? ) : I have a different nationality, and I'm also the one with the most experience! I am the smartest and for now have the biggest fandom. Cool, right?

( what were you thinking when bang pd-nim announced that bts would be the one observing your trainee life and would be the ones choosing for the group? ) : I only joined afterwards, really... I don't really mind? They're idols, just like me, it's not like I'm a fan of them. I'm probably going to get attacked now... Aren't I? heh. I'm more famous in china than them, probably.
