I want to work in Korea but there are limitations.

I'm checking out job postings for English teachers and for each one this requirement exists:

"Must be from any of these countries: USA, Australia, Canada, UK, South Africa, New Zealand."

It's frustrating to know that I, a Filipino with TESOL certification, will not win against a person from these countries. Just because I don't have those passports means I won't get the same chance. Although I consider myself a Native English speaker, I will never be considered this in Korea.

If I'm able to find a job, I'll make sure to change this.

Same goes there. I am from Lithuania who lives in England. Suddenly I don't have a passport of United Kingdom :(
So I am studying English and will be soon getting my TESOL certification might go to teach in China, but I do really wanna teach in Korea or Japan :(

damn that :(((((
but i always thought it’s because of like korea’s thing for education and so they want native english speakers so they can be sure they’re taught good english
which isn’t right cos there are really good non-native English speakers who are very fluent. like some kids here in australia can’t even use proper english, using “brang” instead of “brought” and using “a” instead of “an” when necessary
anyways i hope you are able to get hired in korea!!! there’s no harm in trying ^^

i heard it's got something to do with visa-permits. there's an agreement with those countries so it's easier to employ. im not sure, i looked into it once too but then gave up as im not from an english-speaking country either.
i can only imagine having your tesol will help you a lot, though. good luck <3
