Out of the twins, Nic is the more calculated. Very pragmatic, she is driven more so by rationality than emotions. That's not to say she isn't emotional, or a bit impulsive, but she is nothing compared to her brother. Nic knows what she wants and more importantly, she knows how to get it. Calculated flirtation or intimidation do wonders, she has learned. That's not to say that all of her flirting is manipulation, some of it is just playfulnes, some is genuine.

In public, Nic carries herself with an air of confidence, that she works hard to maintain even in difficult situations. Her whole public behavior is geared towards appearing more posh than she is. Money is a very important thing to her, as such she is both greedy and ambitious. When it comes to the few people she genuinely trusts, she can be quite caring, offering both a shoulder to cry on and thought out advice.

And here is twin number two. Equally as smart and deceptive as his sister, Nev runs on pure emotion. He will plan ahead, but usually abandons the plan once he actually gets into the situation in favor of rushing right in on sudden impulse. A very spontaneous person, he's become pretty good at impromptu pranks and gets great joy out of people's faces or being chased around the room after.

Nev is not good at dealing with problems. While he's great at melancholy monologues or being a shoulder to cry on, he's not always the one to actually find the solution. He prefers to talk when something arises, communication is key to maintaining any relationship, he feels. So he views it as a great honor, if someone confides in him. In general, he is self-sacrificing and altruistic for those he cares about to a ridiculous degree. If you were to ask him, he'd probably just shrug and say his friends or chosen family were more important to him than himself. Whatever he could possibly do to help, he would do without second thought.

 

background:
Nic and Nev were born from a very short-lived affair between a british lower class woman and an engaged, french upper class man, who was on a business trip. When Eduard found out that Eliza was pregnant, he sat down with her and negotiated. The kids were not to have his last name, because he was engaged ( which he had not told Eliza ) and didn't want poverty connected to him. He was allowed to choose their first names, as long as she would be allowed to choose their middle names. The children would live with their mother, but if anything happened to her, he would take them in. And so they went their separate ways.
Nine months later, the twins were born. Veronica and Neville were two beautiful, cheerful children and the small family was happy. For a while. Nursery school was fine, the twins socialized and had friends. Elementary school was when the differences in money came to light. Because they did live in a city with a big amount of working class, it wasn't the biggest deal, but there were some kids that had more than others. When they were eleven, their mother took them aside one day and let them know, that she was sick and if she were to pass away, they would have to move to France to live with their father. Nic and Nev were quite upset for a while. Still, most days were good. Their mother read them stories from a young age, most notably The Lord of the Rings. The whole family was absolutely in love with the world. They rented the movies a lot, too. On the weekends, if the weather was good, they'd drive out to a local forest. Go exploring, set up sticks in certain ways in order to find interesting things they had seen again later. They pretended dead branches were dinosaur skeletons, named the dinosaurs and told stories about them.
Three years later, their mother's death became a reality. It wasn't much of a surprise to be honest, but it still hit hard. Neighbours helped organize the funeral and Eduard even flew over from france to attend and to take the kids with him. The twins packed their bags, tearfully bid goodbye to their home and got on their first plane ever. Nic was not okay. The sadness of losing their mother and a fear of flying combined made for a terrible experience.

Their reception in France was rather cold. Their father and his family seemed to see them more as a burden, than as family. Nic and Nev tried to spend most of their time out of the house, hanging out in parks and at school. They found a forest in bike range, where they went hiking and on bad days pretended the branches were dino skeletons. Whenever Nev felt inferior, he resorted to pickpocketing.
Upon entering school, they were held back a year due to their sub-par french. They made few friends, as the past two years of caring for their mother and the few months of being judged in their new family, had strenghtened their bond, but closed them off to the outside world. On their first day at the local lycée, Nev decided to prank Katherina, the girl sitting in front of him. Instead of getting mad, she laughed and took both twins in. Showed them around and insisted on being their friend. Especially Nic was skeptical at first, but eventually warmed up. They quickly found out, they were not the only weirdos Kiki had picked up. Her best friend in the world, was a man of intimidating stature and build named Paul, who dwarfed the already short girl. But he was a sweetheart, albeit not the smartest one. After Nic and Nev got used to Paul, the three friends took turns, trying to help him study, which was difficult, as he was a year above them. Still, he bumblingly managed to graduate and now has a job as a bouncer. Paul also turned out to be a good co-prankster for Nev and someone to remind Nic to calm down, if she got mad. Because how could she be mad at what is essentially a giant puppy of a man.
At age 16 both twins jumped at the opportunity to get jobs themselves - Nic at a restaurant and Nev at a coffee shop. Two years later, they still hold those jobs. Also at age 16, their father and step-mother sort of bribed a judge into emancipating the twins ( with their consent, my god, they wanted out of that house ) and since then they live in a small flat in an apartment building. They've continued with school, mostly because Kiki reminds them, that education is important and if they work hard, they will be so much better than their father.
Recently, they've made another friend. A new guy started at Nev's work earlier a month ago. Nicholas is a fun guy, who has a hard time taking things seriously. He's studying music and unlike Nev, he has no qualms with singing in front of people. The two have stumbled home drunk a few times now, Nicholas awkwardly crashing on the couch.
All in all, the twins life has taken on a sort of normalcy, with a few friends they are still learning to trust. They go to school the normal hours, go home for a small break. They eat, hang out and then head off to work on weekdays. Weekends are spent together, or with friends.

— the circus ( From a young age Nev was smitten with the circus. He yearned to be a performer, to entertain people, to make them happy. The dexterity born unto his hands was soon used to flip knives in the kitchen, starting with butter knives and progressing to sharp ones, that reminded him most of the miniature sabres he had seen. One day, when he was nine, Nic saw this odd past-time and freaked out. Yelled at him to put the knife away, lest he hurt himself, and told their mother about it. She flipped and restricted him to spinning pencils. She got him juggling balls for his next birthday, telling him he could progress to clubs when he had mastered them. Knives were a goal he could have down the line with the right supervision and practice. Now, years later he joined the school's circus club as a juggler. Balls, clubs and scarves and of course knives and fire, which he greatly prefers. He's good enough by now to handle them and they just give much more of a rush and look way, way cooler. )

hero name : The Muzzle.
It's a bear-pun on the stereotype of being "the muscle" of a hero team. Nic isn't gonna lie, her and Nev made up their superhero names one excited evening, after the interview. Nev kept telling her to calm down, he wasn't going to get it anyway. No one in Paris would trust the british bastard son of a stockbroker to protect their city. He said, she'd get the miraculous no problem. Who wouldn't want a smart girl with a plan to watch over them. She told him not to worry so much, they were both perfectly reasonable choices, plus he was the one, who would run headfirst into danger, without any regard for his own safety, just to protect her. Then she made him laugh with her suggestion for his superhero name and after a while of more cheery banter, he came up with hers. They promised each other to actually use the silly superhero names.

miraculous appearance : A black feather, that Nic braids into her hair. When imbued with a kwami, it gleams a cobalt blue and five of the feather's strands look more like single strands of brown fur. After her special power is used, these strands gradually fade back to blue, until the whole feather goes dark again.

hero costume : The well-fitting washed out red jacket made of rough leather always smells pleasantly of the forest. It closes with buttons, that look like tiny gold and copper leaves. Its cuffs, hem and neckline are all fitted with soft, brown fur. If it weren't a magical outfit, Nic would be very upset about wearing real fur. Black trousers wrap around her legs rather tightly before being enveloped by brown leather boots with hard soles, made for trekking through the woods. The boots' buckles also look like gold and copper leaves.
The mask continues the theme of gold and copper leaves, being made up of them entirely.

weapon : A bow fashioned out of zebrawood, with gold tips. The matching arrows have small gold points and black feathers, mirroring the one in her hair, minus the strands of fur. The arrows also have little nooks in them, that you can tie a rope to, to be able to swing yourself from house to house.

Ravens are considered connected to death and the underworld, representing an end or an everchanging rebirth. They are messengers, guides and teachers, especially when it comes to magic. ( based on info about the raven as a native american totem animal, specifically from whatismyspiritanimal.com )
back-up plotline : Bat miraculous (also free plotline, sorry)
hero name : The Wingman.
Get it? The name still makes Nev chuckle whenever Nic yells it across the battlefield.

miraculous appearance : A leather necklace, with a single pendant hanging from it. The pendant is in the form of a talon, or maybe a claw. When the kwami is in the pendant, five small spots appear on it. The spots look like the eyes on a peacock's feathers, gleaming green and blue. They vanish one a minute, after Raven's Cant is activated.

hero costume : A dark grey tunic is held back from fluttering by a wide leather belt around his waist. It's clasp is inlaid with silver filigree depicting something he's never taken the time to look at more closely. After all, they usually transform when something's up and when something's up you don't have time to dwadle. Black trousers pool into leather boots. The boots weak soles enable him to walk silently, feeling every rock his feet connect with. But he doesn't have much reason to run. The tunic never connects again below his armpits, instead the halves of cloth are only connected at his hips with small silver broaches. While this leaves his skin visible and (more importantly, considering combat) vulnerable, it's pretty well protected by the wings, that snake out through the spaces. Black feathered raven wings, with bony spines, similar to a bat's.
A mask also appears on Nev's face, similar to those venetian bird masks, with the beak and all. It's beset with silver filigree and has two feathers at each of his temples.

weapon : The raven including an everchanging rebirth, the weapon is tailored to match its wielder every time a new person picks up the miraculous. For Neville, it has manifested as three juggling knives, one imbued with electricity, the second with fire. The third just smells like ginger.

power :

• flight ( because of the wings )
• because his knives can not get him from A to B like Ladybug and Cat Noir's, I've taken the liberty to give them small powers. The first blade is called Zapper, but they nicknamed it Thunderbird. Cause, you know, it's a lightning style blade and he's got a bird miraculous. It crackles softly and glows blue, if hit correctly, it can stun the target for a few minutes. The second knife is called Flamefist, Covu calls it Firefox. Sticking to the theme. It's mostly just hot to the touch, but when it stabs someone, the wound gets burned a bit. The third blade smells like ginger and calm panicking people. They've decided to call it Flamel, because that sounds like flame, but also reminds of immortality. Their powers can be used once per transformation and have to be actively chosen. If not, the knives are just stabby stabby blades.
• Raven's Cant: Oh look, it's not a pun! When used, Nev can communicate with the old raven. He's allowed to ask up to three questions within the duration of a minute. ( loosely based on this D&D spell ) (  made up a creature called "the old raven", which is supposed to be some form of higher power. If that doesn't fit into the miraculous lore, then I'll change his power. )

"Hey there! My name is ladybug, and this is Cat Noir. On behalf of master fu, we're going to ask you a few questions to see if you're eligable to be a miraculous holder. Why don't we get started with an introduction?" : 
— They corner him in the changing room after his circus club practice. It's the only sure-fire way to catch him away from Nic, he realizes. So why are they here? Is this like where the police come and tell him his sister's been murdered? Is this the heroes of Paris come to tell him, they couldn't protect the only thing worth protecting? But no, Cat Noir is smirking and Ladybug is smiling and everything seems okay. Ladybug's words sound calm enough as well and it hits him, that they have no idea who he is. They don't know him, they don't know Nic, so even if something had happened to her, they wouldn't have known to contact him. So what is it they need? Superheros don't just hang out with commoners, not usually, not ones they don't already know. Something's going on here and Nev needs to know if it's smart to be honest going forward.
"I didn't realize I was on a first name basis with Ladybug and Cat Noir. I think it's only fair if I save my name for when you tell me yours."
A flicker of the eyes across their faces, trying to read their intentions, before uttering a guarded "What's up?".
"Wow! You're as beautiful as your name is." Cat Noir smirks. "Ah-hem?" Ladybug glares over at the feline for a breif moment. "Don't mind him. It's great to meet you! Let's Begin with questions, why do you think you'd be a good miraculous holder?" : 
— The compliment relaxes him. This is ground he's more used to treading. "Thank you. I wouldn't look this good had you not stopped me from being turned into Reflekta back then." His easy grin fades a bit as he turns to Ladybug. She seems to have come with a goal in mind, so he better listen carefully.
A good miraculous holder? Interesting. Very interesting. He'd better get a sales pitch together quickly. Still, he feels his mood sobering inexplicably. This truth happens to be a bit more personal.
"Wasn't aware they were just being handed out. I... I may not be the best at fighting for myself, because that's not the right... incentive. But when others are on the line, nothing holds me back. My si- someone I care for deeply calls me downright foolish sometimes. And I do think I tread the line between foolish and brave at times, but when has this world not desperately needed a bit of bravery?" He pauses to gather his thoughts, risking a glance at their faces. They look young, he notices, young enough to understand self-sacrifice.
"I can juggle. Now I know that doesn't sound like much, but I have practice juggling both knives and fire. And should you ever meet an enemy or an ally, who doesn't mind a bit of a monologue, I've been told I'm a pretty good talker, too."
"That's interesting." ladybug nods. "Cat, you've got the next question?" Cat Noir nods. "Sure do, bugaboo." He huffs out his chest and proceeds, "If you come to possess the miraculous, what would be the first thing you do with it?" : 
 — "Go on then," he smirks at Cat Noir and makes a mental note that these two seem to bring out very different aspects of his personality. If he's honest with himself, he's almost disapointed, at the non-flirty nature of the question. "Well, I've never had one before. I'm not even sure what it is, really.", a glance down their bodies reveals, that they probably weren't the ones making their costumes. Also, he remembers that clip on TV of some villain trying and failing to take off Ladybugs mask. Magic is his best guess. "I assume I wouldn't need to make a costume, which is a relief. Can't sew for . I'd try to become the friendly neighbourhood spiderman. Helping out until bigger things happen."
"Okay." Ladybug places a hand over her yo-yo. "So why should we chose you to be a miraculous holder?" : 
— Her hand is on her yo-yo and in a flash his own is behind his back, curled around one of the juggling knives in his gym locker. Nev's been to ren fares, he's done some ranged knife throwing and the two of them are closer than those targets ever were. He's been trusting so far, but it wouldn't be the first time that a villain has used the images of Paris' heroes to get their ways. And he did just tell them he wasn't much of a fighter unless someone else was at stake. Oh, balls. Maybe she just placed her hand on her hip and forgot her weapon was exactly there. Maybe it's nothing. But just like there's a line between foolish and brave, there's a line between being trusting and being a ing idiot and Nev has dealt with enough two-faced terrors, to know that he's rather careful than sorry. Cat Noir, standing at an angle, seems to have noticed the way Nev's fingers have curled around the knife. He nudges Ladybug's arm away from her yo-yo. She gives him a confused look, but the two boys share a shaky grin and Nev lets go. Back to the job interview.
"I don't know how accurate the news is on this stuff, but from what I know... the big bad evil guy is after your two miraculouses, right? Specifically those two? If you add me to the roster, that's one more person he needs to go through, before getting to you both. As I've said, I want to protect people." No point in mentioning, that the people he wants to protect are a very specific group of people he cares deeply about. If he spends enough time with these two, they might well be added to the list.
"Right. I think that's all the questions for now. We're going to get back to Master Fu, and see what he has to say! Do you have any last words?" : 
— "It's an honor to have met you," a smile at Cat Noir and a smile at Ladybug. "If I can help at all, I'd like that."

 
- by the bone structure and the contempt.
"Hey there! My name is ladybug, and this is Cat Noir. On behalf of master fu, we're going to ask you a few questions to see if you're eligable to be a miraculous holder. Why don't we get started with an introduction?" : 
— It's not Nic's fault she didn't think the superheroes were the real deal. There's only so many times you can see someone dressed up as Ladybug after theatre class and go "Oh, oh, it's Ladybug!", before realizing, that no, it's just Chloe in a terrible costume. So when Little Red Riding Hood said her name was Ladybug, Nic responded "Of course it is, darling!", all the while packing props into boxes. Her hands still, as the miraculous is mentioned. A smile winds across her face. If this is legit, that would be... well, an interesting prospect. If it's not, it doesn't hurt to play along, especially not in the theatre club. She rights herself and turns to face them, hands outstretched. "You know, I'm a fan of a fair deal and I don't much like being ripped off. So until it's a name for a name, call me Natasha," she says in the best russian accent she can muster. Here stand Ladybug, Cat Noir and Black Widow.
Cue the sitcom music.
"Wow! You're as beautiful as your name is." Cat Noir smirks. "Ah-hem?" Ladybug glares over at the feline for a breif moment. "Don't mind him. It's great to meet you! Let's Begin with questions, why do you think you'd be a good miraculous holder?" : 
— "Thank you", she drawls and winks for good measure, upholding the accent. "I don't back down from a fight. It's important to protect the little guy." So? Anyone can say they care, but you can't do ., she hates that the thoughts sound like her father's voice. It almost makes her feel sick. "I'm very convincing... I have first aid training. I know my way around the woods, I'm good at hiking, very enduring and I know what plants can help you and which will kill you." Is that good enough? "I'm a fast learner, too, if there's any combat skills I need to pick up."
"That's interesting." ladybug nods. "Cat, you've got the next question?" Cat Noir nods. "Sure do, bugaboo." He huffs out his chest and proceeds, "If you come to possess the miraculous, what would be the first thing you do with it?" : 
— "Alright, what is it then?", a small smile graces her lips at the familiarity the two heroes seem to have. "Interesting. I'll have to think on that one." Almost immediately images of money come to mind, all the prestige she could throw in her father's face. But no, no what is she thinking? This isn't about her, this is about protecting people. This is so, so much bigger than her and her petty insecurities. Of course, if she were to find coins on the street while helping Paris, she could always slip them into her sleeves and pockets. But this isn't something she can hold above her father's head, because secret identities are meant to be secret for a reason. If she came to possess the miraculous, the first thing she would do is be the bigger person, she decides there and then. No matter how hard it would be, and if she wavered once or twice, that would be okay. But on the whole, she'd... she'd cross that bridge when she'd come to it. "I suppose I'd learn to deal with a power. With great power comes great responsibility and all that. I'd better know damn well how to use it before I risk anyone's life."
"Okay." Ladybug places a hand over her yo-yo. "So why should we chose you to be a miraculous holder?" : 
— "Didn't I sort of already answer that? When you asked why I'd be a good miraculous holder?" What would Nev say? He seemed to think higher of her, than she ever had. "I'm reliable...", she tests the words on her tongue and finds nothing within her necessarily objecting, so she continues. "Responsible, too. I'm not the most impulsive person, I guess. Plus, I want to help."
"Right. I think that's all the questions for now. We're going to get back to Master Fu, and see what he has to say! Do you have any last words?" : 
— Nic turns back to the props. Gives them a last playful look over her shoulder and says "Goodbye. I look forward to hearing back from you. You know where to find me, clearly."

kwami's appearance : Lester is brown, with bear ears. His eyes are blue, for some reason.

kwami's personality : Lester has not had the best past for a kwami. Although miraculouses are supposed to be used for good, he was once tricked and then forced into doing evil, by a previous owner named Hugo Dupent. Lester never spoke the name again since leaving. He doesn't like to talk about it and generally stays quiet about how he got away from that past owner. Well, to be honest, he generally stays quiet about everything. Still shocked by the destruction, that can be caused with even just a mask and the heightened power and senses the bear miraculous gives, Lester is very weary of his own power. He doesn't trust easily and opens up even less.

relationship/interaction with kwami : Over time Lester has/will open up to Nic and learn to love and trust her as much as she already does him. She speaks to him often now, but he will remain mostly quiet and distant. If you hit the right topics, he can be excitable and almost cute.

kwami's appearance : She's a mixture of brown and black. Instead of arms, she has wings and a tiny but strong beak replaces a mouth.

kwami's personality : Covu is the embodiment of chaos. While her name may be reminiscent of the male lead of the second Lion King movie, she has more in common with young Simba. Fun-loving, curious, easily bored and pure mischief, she is very endearing. Enthusiastic about everything, even insults are hard to take too seriously.

relationship/interaction with kwami : Nev and Covu share not only the letter v in their names, they also both love pranks! Oh no, they both love pranks. They are also both very fast, trained by years of getting away from angry recipients. On the other hand, when Nev gets melancholy and brooding, Covu either tells him to cut it, or offers sweet advice. It's really a trade-off.

They fought constantly and pretended he got to them less, than he really did. Since moving out, they are filled with pure anger towards the kid, and are glad, they no longer have to see him.

She's the half-sister the twins barely see, but whenever they do, they're always happy to hang out together. Lina is always a bit careful showing her affection for Nic and Nev, though, when other people are around.

She decided to take them under her wing when they entered her lycée, showed them around, helped them get to know people. They've stuck together ever since. The Songbird ( ft. Tom Holland ) | Nicholas Favier | 19 | music student, barista | confident, friendly, flirty, obnoxious, maybe a bit inappropriate, caring | This guy is one of Nev's coworkers and pretty much his only ally at work. They were forced to get along by having a lot of shifts together and they do like each other so far. Nicholas may be a bit out there and may be a bit of a walking stereotype, but he's also reliable and fun. While he's usually very smooth, he may or may not have/get a serious crush on Kiki and turn into a confused mess around her. | based on Scanlan from Critical Role
