Anime Recommendation #1

I made a blog post few years ago about some anime movies that in my opinion were good time-passers. Well, they're not just time passers, they're absolutely amazing as well. I mentioned Hal, 5 cm per second and The girl who leapt through time.

Today I have a few more recommendations for those looking for a good anime film to watch. Alas, only very less entries for now but I can guarantee they'll make you feel so many different things in a span of merely one hour.

1. Koe No Katachi (The shape of voice) / A Silent Voice.

My very close friend kept asking me to watch this movie and being emotionally very invested in her and her opinions, I finally gave it a try. And I was in love. I have kept it at the first position because this movie, not just being breathtakingly beautiful in animation, also has an intriguing story with a meaningful lesson. The movie deals with the issue of hearing disability and bullying so well as it draws you to the characters and why they behaved in the certain way they did without garnering any bias.

Should I keep a tissue box ready or not? Absolutely.

2. Kimi No Na Wa / Your Name

Most of you must already know about it. Personally, I believe three factors contributed to making this film so successful worldwide: the beautiful animation art, the OST, and most importantly the plot twist that leave its watchers shattered. The film juggles with the difference of city life and village life, with being a boy vs being a girl, with having different dreams and different brought ups. I would not say further, you definitely have to give it a watch.

Should I keep a tissue box ready or not? Highly recommend if you can't handle the .

3. Hotarubi No Mori E / Into the Forest of the Fireflies' Light.

It's my personal favorite. It carries the concept of an unattainable love, which hit me hard thinking about my own circumstances. It's so simple yet as it ends, it touches so many different cords in the heart. It doesn't have a complex plot so there's not much to say without giving away spoilers but I'd like to mention it has a rather refreshing art compared to others with the theme of hidden spiritual creatures.

Should I keep a tissue box ready or not? Not really, unless you're super emotional like me.

4. Hotaru No Haka / Grave of the fireflies

Another movie with fireflies in its name and a Studio Ghibli underrated classic. This is an anti-war movie that will leave you sobbing for hours with it's tragic real storyline and the narration of post-war affects on lives of innocent orphaned children. Even thinking about it now makes me so sad and apologetic to all those lives lost without any fault or wrongdoing. I strongly recommend it for those looking for a heartbreaker.

Should I keep a tissue box ready or not? Only those made with a heart of stone won't cry.

That's the end of the list and I hope you found something good to watch from them. But if you're an otaku you've probably marked all in your myanimelist. It's okay, I relate. Also if there's any genre of anime you need recommendation for, feel free to ask! I will try to select some quality anime from my limited and mediocore list.
