roae only dreamt of few things in life.
she wanted a career without any problem, but that didn't come true.
roae's early life came about with a younger sister, legally blind. roae knew it meant that her parents expected a lot from her to have a good life. she didn't blame her parents for thinking that way, but she wished that they treated her equal as her sister, who was seen as 'helpless' and had to be constantly doted. she wanted to be a choreographer, knowing her talent in dancing since young, but with much arguing with her parents, she ran away at the age of 17, joining young beat dance group (may 2014).
on september 2014, a close contact introduced her to yu entertainment, a little unknown entertainment that had produced several indie artists. they had planned to debut a trio, and so she was introduced to jang hayley and kim yikyung. roae's vocals weren't bad, but hayley, nine years older than her and already quite a known rapper underground, saw her potential in rapping and writing lyrics. she started helping her out, and developed a very sister-like bond with her. roae admitted she remembered her own sister, and genuinely wanted to be with her.
but on february the next year, news broke out that hayley had financially blackmailed a famous singer. it forces the company to delay their debut, even when close to a few months. broken-hearted and betrayed, roae decided to leave the company along with yikyung, breaking all contacts with hayley. she returned to her tiny flat, taking part-time jobs while occasionally answered calls to being a back-up dancers on idol shows. she's still in young beat, still young, but not very happy. occasionally, she posted raps online, but only for fun. she's too unwilling to come to the underground scene, realizing hayley's still there.
by 2016, yikyung contacted her, wondering if she wanted to be on SMTM5. while she did join, she got eliminated before even entering the rounds. she did attracted interest with some producers though, and some companies.
afterwards, she participated on hit the stage, although as a back-up dancer to lovelyz mijoo. her sight caught attention of more people, and after the show's wrap-up, jellyfish ent. asked if she wanted to train there. she accepted on january 2017.
