Personality A short blurb on An Haejoo's personality: Haejoo is the type to find everything new to be exciting and amazing. She loves to play around and have fun. She always wants to be talking to people and she is good at it. Haejoo seeks pleasure and happiness and is always on the move looking for it. She brings laughter to a room and wants to have all eyes on her. Despite this, she pays close attention to others and will help them work through their problems. She is the type to see and do rather than sit and think about it all. This makes it hard to keep her in one place and she does not focus well. Haejoo fails to make long-term plans, and any criticism she will react strongly to. She shys away form any problems that focus on her and will run from conflict. If someone upsets her, she will hold a petty grudge and do petty things. She is, truly, a typical ESFP.

Background Born to a Deaf mother and a hearing father, An Haejoo did not have the most typical childhood. She learned Korean from her father at the same time she learned KSL from her mother, and growing up her pronunciations of many words were a bit weird because of her mother's speaking (Her mother has a hearing aid and can speak, but prefers KSL). She often faced a lot of bullying and discrimination because of it and her mother, so Haejoo moved around a lot within Seoul and went to many different schools. She learned to go with the flow, and found a love of trying new things. She was very close to her parents and had a lovely childhood in her eyes. However, school was never her strong point and she did not do very well there.

Starting in middle school, Haejoo started skipping a lot of classes. She only attended the amount she needed to get a basic understanding of the concepts so she could just pass the tests. She preferred to spend her days exploring the city and everything it had to offer. This is how Haejoo found out about underground rapping, and man did she fall in love with it. She begged for some of the older girls to teach her, and they did. She found herself frustrated often because of her pronunciation but overall people in the underground rap community loved her. In her last year of middle school, her younger sister Haejin was born, and unlike Haejoo, she was hard of hearing. Immediately, she became protective of Haejin and loved the girl more than anything.

In order to be a good role model, Haejoo began to attend high school regularly but began performing as an underground rapper by the name Jooce (Like juice). She finally told her parents about her dream to be a rapper and while her mother said she couldn't really understand, she supported her. Haejoo was ecstatic and worked with her closest friends to create a seven-track mixtape called Cider, which caught the attention of a small cult following- And a Fantagio talent scout. She was scouted at age nineteen and immediately took it, because yes. This was a start to getting to be a rapper. However, after a year she became bored and left. Haejoo kept underground rapping until she decided on an impulse to audition for Cube Entertainment, where she was accepted. She managed to stay for two years before leaving again, and finally a year ago she joined Moon Entertainment, where she stayed until she was given the chance to debut.

— Likes
◦ Signing, she really enjoys the fluid movement of her hands and fingers, and the way non-manual signs (Facial expressions) play into everything.
◦ The beach, it's Haejoo's favorite place to hang out. She loves listening to the waves and picking up rocks.
◦ Cats, she does prefer them to dogs.
◦ Brushing her hair, it relieves tension and makes her feel more put together. If Haejoo is sick, the first thing she does to make herself feel better is brush her hair. It also helps with headaches.
◦ Giving massages, and Haejoo is good at it too. It's just fun to do, plus if someone annoys her she can "accidentally" press too hard on sore places.

◦ Ableists, she gets how society is and teaches but Haejoo will gladly educate you on the reality of disabilities and why they don't make people lesser.
◦ Pork, Haejoo doesn't know why but it's her least favorite meat and she avoids it when she can.
◦ Sticking with one thing for too long, it makes life boring and she loses interest. If Haejoo is in one place or doing one thing for too long, it will make her irritable.
◦ Long unskippable ads, ohmygod just go away.
◦ Being teased for her occasional mispronunciations, because of her mother's deafness she still occasionally pronounces things weirdly. People , saying she sounds like she's a foreigner but it really actually hurts her feelings because it's like they're indirectly making fun of her mother.

— Hobbies
◦ Day trips, Haejoo loves to just head out for a day and do anything fun, be it go to a book cafe, head to another city, or wander around the streets. Day trips are a great way to break from the daily grind!
◦ Cutting paper flowers, she likes the intricacy that goes into it. Too bad she always ruins them.
◦ Listening to podcasts, there aren't any in particular she likes, it's just that Haejoo likes to have them on in the background.

— Habits
◦ Scratching her thumbs, it's a bad habit but she'll scratch her thumbs with the nails of her index fingers on the same hand. Sometimes she wears bandages to protect her skin so she doesn't accidentally cut herself again.
◦ Ten minute showers, Haejoo will just suddenly jump in the shower for ten minutes. She likes the feeling of hot water on her body- This also makes her fond of hot springs and baths.
◦ Overspending, she buys things she does not want but needs, and always spends more than she is supposed to.

◦ Enjoys trying new foods, it's fun to experiment.
◦ Takes "treat yourself" way too seriously and lives for pleasure. Haejoo will do anything she thinks will make her happy or bring her gratification.
◦ Rapping gives her a natural high that she is addicted to.
◦ Ultimately, her goal is to be a soloist, not a girl group member.
◦ Her favorite KPOP groups include Cross Gene, SHINee, Mamamoo, Spica, and BAP. She listens to those five all the time, and has playlists dedicated to each of them. The idol she looks up to most is SHINee's Key for his attitude, humor, and willingness to be himself.
◦ You will pretty much never see her without a pair of wireless earbuds and a portable phone charger.
◦ Haejoo cannot make a schedule to save her life, much less stick to it. Others have to really keep her in live when it comes to that aspect.
◦ Adores younger members of Petal because they remind her of her younger sister even if they're significantly older than her.
◦ Does not plan on attending college, but if she does it will definitely all be online. If she had to go in, sit, and listen to a lecture, she would really hate it.
◦ Takes a powdered form of magnesium to help her fall and stay asleep at night. It's two teaspoons dissolved in three ounces of warm water and diluted by a bit of room temp water.
◦ Has a three-legged cat named Berry. He's very soft and cuddly, and will meow every time you sneeze. She loves him.
◦ Haejoo is the type to vote for her favorite idols on music shows and stream their MVs nonstop.
◦ Her favorite superhero is Spiderman, so she was hyped to learn that Spiderman: Homecoming would be a thing in 2017.
◦ She is a clumsy mess. Haejoo takes forever to learn choreo because she is constantly tripping over herself. She drops everything she holds (No one lets her hold anything breakable or of value anymore), breaks things she touches, causes accidents 25/8...It really is impressive. She's always been this way.
◦ When Haejoo was twenty-one, she visited the U.S. and impulsively got a tattoo. She absolutely wants another one on the back of her neck. She likes minimalist designs.
◦ She has known that she is biual since she was ten. Haejoo has just always kind of had crushes on girls and guys, and she was open about that with her family. They accepted her, so it was never really a huge thing to her. She is an advocate of LGTQ+ rights.
◦ Haejoo loves going to department stores. They're so much fun because there are so many shops to go to. The same can be said about markets, but she prefers the higher quality and prices of department stores.
◦ These days, she rarely pronounces things strangely due to her mother's way of speaking, but it still does come out occasionally in rapping or when she's overly excited so it's something to look out for.

Relations 

— Mother & father / An Minsoo & An Dongwoo / 45 % 46 / Stay-at-home-mother & podiatrist / Despite the fact that Haejoo sort of rebelled a bunch in middle school, she is extremely close to her parents. Honestly, she finds them to be goals because they met when they were teenagers, and her father has never left her mother since. He viciously defended her when people were discriminatory because she was Deaf, and learned KSL just to speak better with her. She admires both of her parents very much, especially because her father was shunned for marrying someone with a disability and worked to pay for his own schooling. Her mother has a strong inner strength that is amazing, and Haejoo owes them everything. Even though her mom does not quite understand her passion for music and rapping, she fully supports it and her father does as well. They are letting her chase her dreams. She video calls home every few days to talk to them (And Haejin).
 

— Younger sister / An Haejin / 9 / Elementary student / Haejin is an absolute gift if you ask Haejoo. Her baby sister is the best thing the world has created and she will defend that. Haejin is cute, smart, and an absolutely hilarious little girl. She was born hard of hearing and so they use a consistent mix of signing and speaking when they talk. She is bullied in school, which really pisses her older sister off, but Haejin makes more friends just to prove to her bullies that their words mean nothing to her. She is surprisingly wise for her age, making her all the more precious. It is hard to go even two days without hearing from Haejoo about her younger sister and she is always raving about her. Haejin wants to go to all of her older sister's performances, even if it isn't possible. She brags about her idol sister constantly.
 

— Cousin / Kim Woojin / 20 / JYP trainee (Future Stray Kids member) / It is only within the past year that Woojin and Haejoo have met and gotten to know each other. He is her cousin on her dad's side, and as previously mentioned, he was practically disowned. Last year, Woojin made the effort to connect with his uncle's side of the family and was pleasantly surprised to find that his older cousin, too, was a trainee. He was even more shocked to learn that they had both at some point trained at Fantagio, though at different times, and were currently trainees still. They bonded very quickly over this and it is very often that they meet up for lunch or to listen to each other practice and give advice. She sees Woojin as a very dependable younger brother and loves him a lot. He was one of the first to congratulate her on her debut, and Haejoo is waiting very impatiently for the day where she can do the same- She truly believes he is made to be a singer. She's super hype for him when she finds out about the Stray Kids show. (Side note, she loves that he calls her Noona. It's precious.)
 

— Best friends / Park Areum & Shin Sungmo / 26 & 28 / Makeup artist & flower shop manager (Double as underground rappers) / Areum, or PrettydolL, and Sungmo, or MSO, are the ones who helped Haejoo with her mixtape all those years ago. They helped her a lot to learn how to rap and the three were a pretty known trio, often referred to as PrettyJooSO by the underground community. Areum did all of the lyrics (With Haejoo's input) and Sungmo all of the producing and arrangements of the songs. They are older than her, but they treat her as an equal and are her best friends pretty much ever. They support her idol career and text her pretty much constantly about the work she does with Thorn and give her advice on how to improve. Haejoo loves to see them, and the three only call each other by their underground names- Jooce, PrettydolL, and MSO. They're the types to tease each other and talk 24/7 about each other and other people, too. Haejoo wouldn't trade her friends for the world.

Trainee life The truth is, Haejoo has not had an easy time training. She isn't the type to stay on one thing, and it involved a lot of criticisms, which she does not do well with. Her dancing and pronunciation were picked on quite a bit, especially at Fantagio. Haejoo was quick to leave it, because she was constantly upset and bored. They didn't teach her anything. When she went to Cube, they taught her about vocalization and breathing techniques, which really improved her vocals and rapping style. She had a lot of fun there and she was complimented often, but Haejoo realized they were not planning on debuting her soon enough and that eventually she would probably be too old to debut. She ended up leaving there, too, because Haejoo waned to perform on a real stage sometime. This is how she ended up with Moon Entertainment, and they were the perfect mix of discipline and approval. Their training program was the medium between her previous two companies, and she enjoyed her time there. Still, other trainees liked to pick at her unconventional appearance and clumsy style of dance.

— [BREAKING] Thorn's H.J Reportedly Dating Predebut Rookie Kim Woojin!/ 2017/ Haejoo likes day trips. Woojin had a break from filming the Stray Kids show, so they went out together. Since he was a JYP trainee appearing on a show and she was an older, debuted idol, it made news when pictures were snapped. More "proof" included their matching former label, a "couple ring," and old selcas on her now-private old Instagram. It was a simple thing to clear up, everyone backing off when they said they were cousins. The "couple ring" was something they received as gifts from Haejoo's father for both being on a road to debut.

— Netizens Accuse H.J of Having an Attitude Problem / Any / Netizens notice that Haejoo has a habit of taking the spotlight and attention off of others. They rip into her, stating how she isn't talented, pretty, or likeable anyway. The company never responds but she is scolded heavily for her behaviors.
