— neutral : strict, punctual, tends to put her heart on her sleeve, risk-taker, sentimental

— negative : can be moody, sometimes emotional, can easily get carried away, an overthinker

   personality.

"시작이 반이다." well begun is half done.

seonhee lives by this philosophy. she believes that starting strong, or at least, starting well, is always the key to a good ending. she is not one to back down from something she has started, and she always makes sure to be able to reach her end goal. although she is known to be a driven young woman, she does not like to feel pressured, and likes to take her own time in order to properly plan on how to achieve her goals.

seonhee is one of those people among the jyp trainees known for her bright and bubbly personality. she always greets her fellow trainees, as well as her seniors, with a huge smile. she is one of the older ones among the trainees, and she has always believed in the power of a simple smile, so she keeps on her smile in order to help lift the mood up. as one of the older ones, she naturally became the unnie or noona among the trainees. she would often check up on them, constantly ask them how they are, and remind them to rest for a bit, eat their meals on time, and drink lots of water. as a result, the younger ones had gravitated towards her when they need someone to talk to, or someone to just listen to their thoughts. she knows when someone needs help, and when someone wants to be alone. she would step back, but still stay just in case that someone may need any help.

she gets easily attached to people, too, and she cares a lot about the people she love. even just by spending a few hours with her (given that you did actually do something together), she can get attached. she is also very observant. she can easily remember the different quirks, habits or even features of a person. in addition, she is also people-sensitive, especially towards her loved ones. she "feels" it whenever something is wrong, and she immediately does everything she can to help. if she could, she loves spoiling the people she cares about.

ever since she was a kid, seonhee was taught that being late is disrespectful, and she carried this until she grew up. she hated being late so much, that if the situation can't be helped and caused her to be late, she ends up apologizing far too many times, and tries to compensate by doing extra work, such as staying later that usual in the practice room. although many perceive her to be a strong, independent woman as no one but her closest friends have seen her break down, and she was always the one who stayed with a level head when everyone was faced with confusion or frustration, she always tends to overthink the situation right after.

seonhee herself thinks that she is a paradox--a living contradiction. she is strong, yet weak. she is passionate and driven, yet she overthinks and ends up doubting herself. she is bubbly, yet there are times, (especially during that time of the month) when she can be moody, that she would be ignoring her closest friends, and emotional. she is independent, yet she gets easily attached to people and wears her heart on her sleeve.

being a risk-taker and at the same time being someone who is undoubtedly determined might sound like a dangerous combo, but for her, it was one of the best parts of her personality. she tries her best to stay positive and cheerful all the time because she believes that happiness depends on ourselves. she also prefers taking risks, regardless of whether it will turn out good or bad. if the results turn out good, then good for her, but if it turns out bad, she still wouldn't regret anything because at least she learned something from that experience. she also tries to see the glass as half-full rather than half-empty.

for those who know her too well, they would say that her moody and emotional days are the worst. she would spend the whole day either locked up in the studio, or in her room. she would barely talk, let alone respond to anyone properly. her stress eating habits would worsen, and she often ends up not sleeping. every once in a while, she also gets tired of being so cheerful that she just stays quiet and neutral all day without answering any calls or messages from anyone, and just staying alone. she can also get anxious and panicky whenever things aren't going the way she expected them to be, or when people don't answer her calls, texts, or emails. she can get clingy at people she's completely comfortable with.

one of her defining characteristics is her kindness and her compassion. although she was born in a fairly middle-class family, she was taught to always treat others with kindness. one of her dreams ever since she was young is to earn her own money in order to help charities.

background.

seonhee was born in daejeon, where her parents met. at that time, her father was working in a corporate business, and her mother was a housewife. they were the type of family that was not exactly rich, but definitely not poor either. however, a year after she was born, the company her father works for went bankrupt, so her father had to look for ways to earn a living.  it was quite a while, and both of her parents had to work from then, just to be able to send her to school. with the help of a relative, her father finally landed a job as an office clerk in a company. the only problem was, it was in australia.

eventually, her father had no choice but to take a chance, and fly to australia with the hopes of making life for his family better. eventually, seonhee and her mom moved to australia as well. she was 5 years old at that time, and australia also became the place where her brother was born.

when seonhee started schooling in australia, she had a hard time keeping up as she could barely speak english. however, since she was still very young, her ability to adapt to a new language was still very high, and eventually, she became proficient in english, while still keeping her korean intact through her family.

seonhee was about 15 when she came upon jyp entertainment's global auditions. she had been singing in school events for quite some time now. although she had never competed, many have encouraged her to try auditioning, and so she did, in which, suprisingly, she passed, leading her to move back to korea.

— close friend big brother  : brian kang / day6 member / cheerful, confident, diligent, sweet / ten out of ten

seonhee and brian first met a few months after she entered jyp. she had always been the first to arrive in the training center, and the last to leave, and this was where she bumped into brian.

it was way past midnight, and most of the lights in the building were already turned off. even worse, it was raining, and seonhee didn't bring an umbrella. by that time, she was already thinking of staying at the training center for the night. she was already at the entrance, staring at the glass door that separated her from the rain outside, when brian came up behind her.

'hey, need a hand?' he asked. at the sound of his voice, seonhee jumped. she didn't think anyone else except the guards were still there.

'i only have one umbrella, but we can share, right?'

and that was the start of their friendship.

//

as someone who had also lived abroad, it was a relief for seonhee to meet someone who've had similar experiences to hers. although brian often teases her for her accent when they, and the slangs she use when they converse in english.

'so, i'll meet you in the arvo?'

'what the hell is an arvo?'

//

brian is also one of the usual victims of her spontaneous fun facts, which resulted with him giving her the nickname 'nerd'.

'hey brian.'

'what?'

'did you know that papua new guinea is the most linguistically diverse country in the world, with more or less eight hundred and fifty languages?'

'you're such a nerd.'

//

as much as there was banter between brian and seonhee, he became one of the few people she fully trusts in korea. she treated him as if he was her big brother, and would come running at him whenever she needed someone to talk to, or a shoulder to cry on. there were nights when brian would drag seonhee out from the studio just to get her to rest. they would talk about their lives, and their goals, and they often end with seonhee falling asleep on brian's shoulder.

while seonhee acts like a mom to the members, there can be times when she acts like a mom towards brian, or when brian acts like a dad towards seonhee. he would always remind her to take care of herself, not just others, and occasionally bring her coffee or sweets after his schedules.

— best friend : bang chan / stray kids member / warm, thoughtful, comforting, clingy / nine out of ten

it was brian who introduced seonhee to chan. she had been incredibly homesick, and for some reason, brian thought that maybe, introducing seonhee to someone from australia would help, so he introduced her to chan. surprisingly, the two clicked immediately, especially when chan learned that seonhee had the ability to produce songs too.

compared to brian, seonhee sees chan far more often, as they would often ask for each other's opinions when they make new songs. there were also times when chan would nag at her, asking her to make him a packed lunch too, or to get him food. ever since they knew each other, chan had gotten her to agree to using the same practice room since it was only the two of them (and he claims that that way, they can give comments to each other).

//

'chan, do you ever miss home?' seonhee asks as the two of them lie on the hardwood floor, sticky and sweaty from dancing.

'i always do.' he answered. 'sometimes, i just want to leave everything and go back home.' he sighed, 'but then i just think of my dreams, and my goals, and how we're so near already, and then i carry on.' he looks at her, smiling.

//

seonhee is one of the people who will always tell the truth. while most people would be too shy, or too scared to say a bad comment about chan's music, seonhee would be the one to say it, but in such a way that she knows he will be able to improve.

one of the things seonhee loves about chan is that he knows when to comfort her. seonhee tends to think about others too much that she forgets to think about herself, and often drowns in her overthinking and self-doubt when left alone, and this is when chan steps in, pulling her out of her thoughts with his warm hugs, dad jokes, and sometimes, he would take her out to eat, just so they wouldn't have to be in the practice room.

chan would also have his days when he would be consumed by his stress and self-doubt, and this is when seonhee would step in. she would constantly reassure him that he was enough, and that he's good enough. on days like this, seonhee would be the one dragging chan out of the training center, and treating him to a snack.

— close friend son : yang jeongin / stray kids member / playful, hardworking,  energetic / eight out of ten

seonhee knew jeongin partly because of chan. although chan and seonhee had already known each other for quite some time, she hasn't got the time to meet the other members of stray kids. when she would visit chan, it would either be too early, or too late. however, one time, jeongin had to stay back as jyp told him he needed to practice his vocals a bit more. seonhee. thinking that it was chan who was in the practice room, went in without bothering to knock, and was shocked to find someone else. jeongin already knew who she was--no one else besides the boys would visit chan at that time. seonhee found the younger boy cute, and immediately, her "mom" instincts kicked in.

//

'noona!' jeongin yelled upon noticing someone peeking through the door. he knew her well enough that he could identify her by her eye alone.

laughing, seonhee swung the door open, and walked in. she was immediately greeted with a hug from jeongin, followed by a huge grin as she ruffled his hair. 'have you eaten, jeongin-ah?' she asked him, chan in the backgroud smiling like a dad watching his wife and his son.

'noona, chan-hyung hasn't been eating much. he should be the one you're asking.' he whispered. 'and i'm telling you this because i know you like chan-hyung.' he added, glancing at his hyung, before looking back at the blushing female.

'psh...what? i don't like chan...what are you saying...' seonhee denied, which jeongin responded to with a laugh.

'sure, noona, if that's what you say.' he grinned, walking back to his seat beside chan.

— close friend daughter : jeon somi / prism member / energetic, hypersactive, sweet, easily stressed / nine out of ten

'unnie, watch out!' somi yelled as her shoe flied towards seonhee's direction. unfortunately, seonhee had just turned around, and the shoe hit her square in the face. somi, who had started the shoe throwing game, just laughed guiltily, while seonhee walked towards her.

'it wasn't me-' she started, before being cut off by a raise of eyebrow from seonhee. she knew that seonhee wasn't asking--she already knew. 'fine, it was me. i'm sorry.' she said.

seonhee sighed, before ruffling her hair. 'go practice your lines instead of playing around. i'll be done with the edited track in a bit.'

//

there were times when somi would move to her room in the middle of the night, and snuggle up to her, sniffling.

'what's wrong, dear? i'm here, you can tell me.' seonhee would let her cry on her shoulder, and she would rub somi's back comfortingly. at a young age, somi had to go through so much, so she knew how heavy the weight on her shoulders was. seonhee would listen to her, or just let her cry, but she would keep her in her arms, even if it meant that she had to lose sleep, to let her know that she wasn't alone.

— close friend frienemy  : jin yebin / prism member / understanding, thoughtful, stubborn / seven out of ten

seonhee had always been cheery when it came to meeting new people, but yebin had been a special case. she was one of those people who, at first meeting, seonhee knew she wouldn't get along with easily. while seonhee had always been flexible and easily adjusts to a situation, yebin's stubborness is something she had to deal with a lot.

seonhee rarely ever explodes, but she did once because of yebin. they had been recording, and she got into a misunderstanding with her, and yebin's stubborness made it worse. however, seonhee wasn't one to hold grudges, and she  took the time to listen to yebin, and tell her her own feelings. eventually, she learned more about her, and understood her better.

stage name. sunny ; she was already used to it, and it sounded similar to her korean name, so she decided to stick to it.

elaboration

seonhee first heard of the jyp global auditions in 2011. prior to that, she had been participating in several school performances, but she had never tried going in competitions. she knew how to play the guitar, and had been wrtiting her own songs with the influence of the back-then newly-formed local band, 5 seconds of summer. knowing that it would be hard to get a name in the music industry on her own, her friends suggested that she try auditioning for jyp entertainment. she was korean, and she had the vocals, so she would surely be accepted, they said.

come audition dates, seonhee performed alicia keys' if i ain't got you, with the goal of showing off her vocal range. she had been asked to dance, and the only thing she could come up with was a piece they performed in school. after the audition, she told herself that if she passes, then she would be taking the chance. if not, she won't be doing it agian.

she then moved to korea in 2012, fortunately, after getting a pass in the jyp global auditions. she had heard many things about how being a trainee is really hard, because you have no guarantee that you will debut, but she used this thought as a motivation for her to do better and to learn more.

it was during her first few days of training when she realized that she got in mostly because of her singing abilities. she struggled keeping up with the other trainees because of her less-than-average dancing skills. she knew she had to step it up, and exert extra effort, so she asked help from her mentor. her mentor then suggested that she take ballet classes to improve her flexibility, and jazz to help her coordination. as a result, her trainee schedule, was fully packed, and she barely had any time to sleep. she had dance practice in the morning, vocal lessons in the afternoon, and ballet and jazz classes at night, and then she would work on producing her songs.

at first, she was at loss with the whole producing thing. she knew that she had the talent for singing, and she had wrote a few songs back home, but she had never thought she would reach this scale. it had only been a few months of being a trainee, but she already wanted to give up.

luckily, she met brian, and he was the one who helped her pull through. he would listen to her songs that she would be too afraid to show to the mentors, and give constructive comments so that she would be able to make it better before showcasing it to the higher-ups.

as her training progressed, so did her singing, dancing, and producing skills. she eventually became good enough in dancing, that she began creating her own choreographies. when she met the other trainees and was put into a group, she was automatically one of the people the members depended on, as she was one of the older ones. as she met other trainees, she learned how to improve her skills, and she also helped them improve.

when sunny learned that jyp was planning to debut a girl group (which is now twice), she had hoped that she would be included. she thought that she had been doing well enough to be part of the debut, but her first heartbreak was when she wasn't even chosen to be included in sixteen. she had trouble dealing with it, and locked herself up in the studio, day in-day out. she barely talked. brian had been busy for his own debut with day6, that she barely saw him. chan was the one who stayed by her side. he would drag her out of the studio so that she could get "fresh air", and would constantly make her laugh to relieve her of her stress. if it weren't for chan, seonhee wouldn't have had the will to carry on with her training.

throughout her training life, she had been the unknown producer in some of the jyp artists' songs. although she did want to be credited, she always went by a different name, and she made sure that it was clear to jyp that she didn't want to stop at producing songs--she wanted to be an idol.

now, with the news of jyp possibly debuting a new girl group, she is more motivated than ever to be included in the upcoming lineup, and show the world what she's got.

personality.

— bang chan, similar to seonhee, grew up in australia, and took part in jyp's global auditions. he is a bright kid, with a a determination that burns as hotter than the sun. he is a kind leader to s, but is also strict when it comes to work. he could be playful, and he treats s as if they are his children younger brothers. when it comes to work, he isn't someone who would ever settle for less. he's kind of a perfectionist, and would willingly work from dusk 'til dawn if he has to. he's warm, like the feeling of holding a fresh cup of coffee on a cold winter day. the feeling of hugging him feels something similar to the way an oversized hoodie makes you feel warm and comfortable. the way he smiles lights up the entire room, and you could literally see him sparkle every time he laughs, or when he looks at s proudly. when he performs, he dominates the stage by his vocals and his amazing rapping. off-stage, he's full of his dad jokes, and bad puns, but that's what makes him even more loveable.

however, chan also has his days. there are times when he would feel like he was still lacking so much, especially since he is the captain of their team. he would stay up, and sacrifice even the little amount of sleep he gets every day just to make sure that everything wll go well, not only for him, but for the whole team. he would beat himself up for every mistake he made in their performances, even as little as it can be. he overthinks too much. he would always, selflessly put s first before himself, and would always make sure that they are able to improve theirselves.

although chan has so much on his mind, he is the kind of person that when he sets a goal, he will reach it, no matter what it takes. this is the drive that keeps him going on his journey to debut.

love story.

— seonhee and chan met through brian, when she was stuck in a severe case of homesickness, and brian thought it might be a good idea to introduce her to someone from the same country. the two naturally clicked well, and chan became one of the people seonhee runs to, besides brian.

when brian got busy in preparation for his debut with day6, seonhee saw chan more and more. the two of them were often in the same studio, trying to work on songs, or in the same practice room, trying to work on choreographies. then came the time when she met jeongin, and then the rest of the stray kids. it was easy to get close to them, seeing how sweet they all are, and chan absolutely adored how close she was with the boys, especially his baby jeongin.

seonhee didn't really know when it started, but she would say that one moment that really sparked her feelings for chan was when he was the one who rescued her from her drowning thoughts after she wasn't chosen to be a part of sixteen. ever since then, she knew that her feelings for him wasn't platonic anymore.

whenever she would visit the boys, jeongin would endlessly how she always looked at chan with "heart eyes". she was being far too obvious, and everyone except chan already knew that she had feelings for him.

on the other hand, chan had always been far too preoccupied with trying to get his group a chance to debut, that he never had the time to think about feelings. (i mean, yeah, seonhee had been working her off too...but everytime she sees chan, her heart just goes haywire.) on the rare times that the boys did get a chance to talk about life, and feelings, it was noticable that there was only one name that constantly pops up in his stories--seonhee. she was the one who had always been there for her (well, besides the boys), through his ups and downs, and she never got tired of being with him. the boys had already figured out that he had feelings for her, way before he even realized it himself.

from then on, the boys would start teasing chan, giving him knowing looks, and knowing smiles whenever seonhee visits, or whenever they visit the girls. jeongin would purposely hog seonhee, just to see how chan would react when she is too preoccupied to notice him. however, it doesn't really affect him much. in fact, the sight of her being close to s even makes him feel all warm and fuzzy inside. at least, he wouldn't need to worry if the boys would like her.

one time, seonhee was by the staircase in the training center, talking to jeongin and jisung. chan saw them, and was about to join them, when he realized that they looked like they were talking about something serious. he had decided to just quietly pass by, when he heard seonhee say, 'fine, okay, i do like chan, but it's not like anything can happen?' and he froze. the few words he heard made him weak in the knees, and he was scared that if he moved any further, he would fall. so he decided to eavesdrop for a while. 'i mean, we're both trainees, and the dating ban exists too. we can't do anything about it, and i think its better if he doesn't know.' seonhee continued. chan, after a while, regained his strength, and went back to the studio with a huge smile.

after all that, chan wanted to confess badly. he wanted to let her know that he feels the same way. however, he knew that it wasn't the right time, and this is something he shouldn't be thinking of. he promised himself that when the right time comes, he'd know, and he'll make it special for seonhee.

trivia.

— they are often found either in the practice room or in the studio, working together

— seonhee has become like the group's mom, and chan has become like prism's dad

— chan first admitted his feelings towards seonhee to brian, knowing that he is the closest to her

— although brian approves of chan, he did tell him to be careful of his decisions, as they are still newbies, and having scandals are dangerous for their career

— sometimes chan and seonhee would get discreet matchy things, such as shoes, earrings, hats, and phone cases.

— although seonhee already had no time to make breakfast as often as she used to, when she does, she had to make more servings, as she would also give some to chan, and to the boys

— when chan is "mean", the boys come running at her, especially jeongin

— seonhee has talked to brian about her feelings, and he just said the same thing when chan talked to him

current relationship. some (썸) ; although chan never confessed, ever since he heard seonhee express her feelings, he had been acting differently. he had been clingier, and had always been nagging her to visit them. on valentines day, he would secretly hand her an origami rose (he didn't have the time to go outside, and if fans saw him buying a rose, it might lead to a scandal) and chocolates (he asked jeongin to buy on his way home from school). on her birthday, he asked the girls what she could want, and bought a silver necklace with a small, crown pendant (online, of course) for seonhee. he was also the one who organized her surprise bithday party. chan and seonhee aren't in an official relationship, and they remain strictly professional when it comes to work, but the way they treat each other sometimes seems like they are dating.

ending. after stray kids debuts, chan finally gets the courage to confess. however, considering both of their groups are newly debuted, and that they really can't date, they decide to focus on their careers first. their some relationship still remain, but they agree to keep it more lowkey. if it is meant to be, then it will be--the two of them share this same sentiment.

password.

— debut song: the boots by gugudan, a girl like me by gugudan, or bad boy by red velvet

— debut concept: i'm thinking of something like badass, but with lots of colors, like the the boots music video. the teasers would include pictures of them in solid, pastel backgrounds, a different color for each one. then each picture per member would have a different concept, that would give clues to their next release. for example, the first picture would feature a member in a pastel background with neon lights, wearing boots.
