Graphic Designer Q&A (Stolen from --yogi)

1. How long have you been designing?

It's been 6 years. Holy sh- like it doesn't feel like I've been doing this for 6 years.

2. What do you use to design?

I worked with quite a few programs in the beginning but the bulk of my designs were made with Gimp and Photoshop

3. What's your first ever poster? What's your latest poster?

I have been so ashamed of my first posters that I deleted them and I cannot find them anywhere. So this is the closest thing I can find to my oldest. I'm pretty sure when I made this I had just discovered textures specifically grunge textures so I layered a whole bunch and called it a completed piece. And then we have my latest masterpiece. I find my biggest improvement came with tutorials and reviews as well as following people that inspired me. On my own, I was a wreck but when I started becoming more involved with aff's graphic designing community I noticed a huge jump in my poster skills.

4. Which genres are your strengths?

I find I really enjoy creating bright romcom pieces. I love working with colourful colour palettes and I absolutely love love love typography. I love going to DaFont and downloading plenty of fonts.

5. Which genres are your weaknesses?

Fantasy. How do you even fantasy? Could someone actually give me an example of a darn gorgeous fantasy poster because I can't.

6. What's your design style?

I'm looking at my portfolio and I don't even know how I would describe my style. Do I even have a style? With romcom posters, they're all simple with bright colours and bold fonts. My all-time favourite texture is the yellow glowing lights which I can use in all genre posters because it just works.

7. Do you own a graphic shop?

Yes, both inactive at the moment.

8. Do you work for a graphic shop?

I've worked for many graphic shops over the years but I'm pretty sure they're all inactive at the moment. WGF is the only place I'm working for at the moment unless anyone wants to hire me ;)

9. Are there any designers you look up to?

There are so many. PrincesSeoul/Tamagie/whateverherlastunsernamewas was my absolute favourite. I learnt how to use gimp from her youtube tutorials and then she really improved and I was in love with her entire portfolio but sadly she deactivated :c actually, quite a few that I used to be in love with deactivated imma ccry.

10. What's your favourite poster to date?

It's a tie between these two, which I'm sure I made days apart. I think a lot of my older rom coms were a lot better than my newer ones. I look back and i'm like, what happened?

11. What's your least favourite poster to date?

I honestly have so many where I didn't even try therefore they turned out looking like absolute trash but this one, in particular, I hate because it's a fantasy. I added the glowing lights and was like there, it's fantasy. There's just so much I hate about this poster. I didn't have the best images to work with, the colour looks like sewage water and I'm pretty sure the author didn't even like it in the end and I basically gave up.

12. How long does it usually take for you to finish a poster?

Usually about an hour.

13. Do you have a portfolio?

I have 2 actually. One, a wix site where I showcase the best of the best. And then I have my imgur, showcasing all my graphics, the good and the bad.

14. Do you join graphic contests?

I do, I used to join every weekend but now there doesn't seem to be as many and I don't like the idea of multi rounds. I've been meaning to create my own graphic contest but I'm terrible at coming up with prompts. Also, this is by far my favourite entry because bum bums o u o

15. If you write stories, do you make your own posters?

Absolutely not. I'm way too critical of my own work to make my own.

3. Dat Kris poster though :o I really like it!
4. It's good to know that you like fluff and colorful things. also, I think people enjoy doing dark/ angst because the result will mostly likely turn out better than fluff/ romcom. to be able to pull off a nice fluff/ romcom, I assume you must be really skilled!
5. here's an example of a nice fantasy themed poster: https://orig00.deviantart.net/256f/f/2018/070/e/c/hush_by_kyteri-dc5mv7t.png (sorry I'm simply in a bragging spree haha)
9. OMG. I recognize this designer. haha I got to know her because I'm following my close friend's story (and I'm dead waiting for her to update btw)

this poster is just so beautiful!
11. The author deleted her damn story omg that's quite irresponsible and disrespecting the designer(s?) to be honest :/
but I like this poster a lot and the sewage color actually turns out nice? haha
over all nice posters ^^ I reckon why you said you are most comfortable with bright things haha <3 the colors blend really well with each other ^^

P.S. I'm here for the karma point so... sorry for the spam and unnecessary unasked-for commentary lolol
