PERSONALITY TRAITS: entj
✩ ambitious, outspoken, intimidating, strongwilled, strategic, charismatic, stubborn, intolerant, impatient, arrogant
PERSONALITY:
✩ ambitious - coming from such a large family, twila has always been very competative. not only because she's from a large family, but because she's from a royal family, she's been trained, and conditioned to push past expectations and she wants to be well off so she's always going to push herself to do her best, no matter the situation.
✩ outspoken - becuase she has the father she does, twila knows better than to let people bring her down or shun her opinions. she knows well enough to speak up for what she believes in, and defend those who cannot defend themselves.
✩ intimidating - twila has what you'd call, a "resting face. and because she has that, some people find her intimidating and hard to approach. given that she does have a very strong personality, she has your back when it comes down to it.
✩ strong willed - it does not matter what you have to say about what she wears, what she does, or what she says because you know what? she doesn't care. she's gonna do what she wants, when she wants it.
✩ strategic - being a princess has its perks. she's informed and trained on what it takes to guard and protect her home. it applies well on land when she needs to plan ahead for raids or fighting for her position on deck.
✩ charismatic - from the way she presents herself, to the way she says things and pulls through on her word. twila just knows how to be the person at the center. it's something she's never been able to pull off and coming to the land presented her with a chance to do this. to be charismatic and something more than the fifth daughter of king valtros.
✩ stubborn - stubborn in arguement, stubborn in combat, stubborn in all of lives advances. twila could have a foot in the grave and still be doing things she shouldn't be doing. what can you do?
✩ intolerant - she's the type of person who makes the rules because obviously, she isn't going to follow rules given to her by anybody. she usually has a goal to reach, and if anything, if any rule blocks her way, she isn't going to react nicely about it.
✩ impatient - because she's impationt, its not rare for her to make bad decisions or entirely mess something up. it's one of her biggest flaws. taking it slow is a no go.
✩ arrogant - she respects people who can make quick and appropriate decisions in quick time, and looks down on people who do not meet the standard. she thinks she's bigger than she really is, which is close to nothing when she's on land.
BACKGROUND:
Born to the King and Queen of Cadralia, as the fifth child out of seven, Twila Marina Valtros was instantly loved by the kingdom. Because she was a new addition to the royal family, everybody wanted the chance to see her up close and personal; of course, only a few special mer-people got to. Those who had seen her, always said she was a complete copy of her mother. The two replicated one another from head to toe, give or take those small individualistic qualities.
As a infant and toddler, Twila had been into the spotlight of the kingdom. At one point of another the newest princess was talked about on the daily. However, when the queen fell pregnant again, with the sixth royal princess, all eyes were withdrawn. Twila was taken from the light, and aside to make room for the next addition. For two years, she had gotten acustomed to being the center of attention, that the second she wasn't, she couldn't quite comprehend it, with being a child and all. Twila had become an issue to her governesses. She did not settle for the simple things, and she was very fussy, always calling for her parents that would never show. Twila was practically raised by her governesses and older sisters.
Through her personal teachers, and sisters, she learned about the hardships, and pressure of being a member of the royal family. There weren't many hours of the day when she had time to do what she wanted, but when they were allowed to her, she didn't want to spend her time locked away in her bedroom. From a young age, Twila was always taken to knowledge. She couldn't stop in the unknown. When she'd first left the palace, she was seven. She was also very scared. Twila had been given an hour to do whatever she wanted, and to her luck, unnatended. It didn't take her long to think about going out of the palace to meet some childeren her age. She hadn't even thought about the risks, or issues it would cost to her family, or even herself.
When people saw her out on the streets, they whispered, and they wondered why the seven year old princess was out on her own. Never in his reign had the king allowed his daughters out on their own until they'd been of age to take care of themselves, so this had been a complete shock to the mer-people. Before Twila could make it past the palace gates, Twila had been stopped and sent directly to her father, who had scolded her.
"What on earth were you thinking stepping outside the palace?!"
"I..." Twila fiddles with the tips of her fingers sheepishly. She had
never been put in front of her father like this, nor had he ever been
this cross with her. "Daddy...I..."
"Are you aware of the dangers thay wait for you beyond those gates?
Our people know who you are, Twila. Our enemies know your face.
Do you any idea what would happen if somebody were to take you for
their own good? To use you against the kingdom? You musn't go out on your
own! Never again. Do you hear me?"
Twila looses the little confidence she'd had. "I...But...Yes...Daddy." She
lowers her glance down to her tail.
"Because you have disobeyed the one rule i've set for you Twila, the
punishment..." The king sighs. He always hated this part of being a
parent. "Twila, you are no longer allowed to meet with your sisters.
Not until I say so. You are to remain with your governess at all times."
"What?! But daddy! I'm Sorry! Don't you belive me! I won't do it again!
I promise!" Twila's voice falters. "I promise..." And the tears are running
hot, down her face. "Daddy please! Don't do this."
"You leave me no choice Twila." The king looks to Twila's governess, who's standing by the
door, and nods his head. "You may take her now." The queen takes the kings
hand in hers, but his eyes are focused on his daughter, wailing. Kicking and
screaming, she's removed from the throne room. He can hear her cries down
the corridor, and he gives the queen's hand a squeeze, as tears roll down
his face.
The king loved his daughters very deeply. But that was the day that Twila had seen her father in a new light. She did not like it at all. Her father had taken away her only source of hapiness. Sure, she adored her governess, but her sisters...they were her lifeline. They'd showed her things her governess hadn't. They'd taken her outside of the palace, they'd given her the freedom she'd wished she had in the palace. With them, she was her turest self. It was almost inhumane to her, that he would take those things from her. This was Twila's turning point. She wanted to get out of the palace, and she was going to do it, even if it was the last thing she wound up doing.
Luckily, Twila didn't step foot outside of the palace for the next few years. Over the time she had to spend away from her sisters, she came to the conclusion that she must remain on her fathers side. She needed to think things through, and play things out carefully. The next time she saw her father, she demanded that he allow his best swordsman teach her to fence, or teach her how to be a proper swordsmen. Twila found that she wasn't all that good at it, but she was good enough to hold herself off in a deul, need she have to. She picked up archery right after that. She was significantly way better at that. Between her new responsibilities, and transitioning into a young teenager, she made it a point to get closer to her father, to make sure he trusted her, to make sure he saw her as the one who did no bad.
After several years of hardwork, Twila was finally able to step out of the palace, and alone at that. She'd be rid of her governess too if things had gone smoothly once she returned. For her first run, she took a stroll down the city, and greeted her fellow mer-people. She'd bought some things for her sisters and came straight back to the palace where she'd meet with her father, to give a report on her outing. When he knew that she was genuinely safe on her own, he gave her his word, and removed her governess to care for her. Even though it made Twila sad, she knew she'd still see her governess around, and that she'd outgrow her governess sooner or later. Once Twila was sure she was alone, she made her first ever venture out to the sea's. Much like the first time she wanted to go, she was scared. She didn't know what was beyond her city of gold, and she didn't know if she'd even come back, but one thing was for sure, she'd never know if she didn't at least try.
Twila returned unharmed, and...with a new friend, a moon jellyfish named osiris. Osiris wasn't much older than her, and like her, he had an advenutre streak. However, Osiris had the freedom to travel the ocean that Twila knew she'd never have. She'd heard the talk too many times from her father. Still, she'd done it. She'd made it above water just this evening...and it was the best thing ever. To feel the air on her skin. To hear the seagulls, and the sound of water. She'd been trapped under the water for so long, that she'd been blind to the beauty of the world above.
"What do you say Osiris? Will you be my travel partner?"
"How could I ever say no to you, M'lady?"
So Twila freed up her time. She made more travels to the shores in the area, and she watched humans. They were so fascinating to her. She'd go up each day, at least for half an hour. That was all she needed to feel satisfied. But...that was a thick lie. The more she looked upon them, the more she wanted to set her flipers on the sand. The more she wanted to breath the air around them, the more she wanted to know about humans and the land they walked on.
There was only ever one time she stopped going up there. It was Hevensday, in early Enneamri. The night her mother passed on after blessing the royal family with their last sister, frannie. Twila was heartbroken. She'd been the closest one to their mother. She was the spitting image of her even now as she'd become a teen. The passing took her by storm. She'd gone through a period of mourning and heavy sorry. It took her a long time to get herself out of her funk. A year had passed before she even realized. Her love for the land above was still very much there, and ultimately that's how she shook herself from her slump.
The time's afterwards, she started to get very wreckless, very...sloppy in concealing her whereabouts. She knew her father would find out soon enough. So when he finally called it to her attention, she wasn't even surprised.
"Do you really think this is my first time father? I've crossed the
sea's more times than you have, i'm sure of it. But if you're angry,
you have every right to be. But I have my rights too. I yearn to learn
more. I crave to feel the sun's rays on my skin, the wind blowing through
my hair. I deserve the chance to adventure."
"We've had this conversation already Twila. It is not safe out there! You
could get hurt, or even worse, killed. Do you want that for yourself?
Do you possibly think we could mourn for you after..." The king stops
himself short of his next words. "You cannot go out there Twila. I simply
will not allow it."
"News flash, father. I haven't died. And I know how to defend myself. You
may be the king, but you can't stop me. Not from this."
From that point onward, whatever relationship Twila had built with her father, was declining, fast. They'd argue all the time, over her trips to the surface. But Twila wasn't going to back down. She was going to continue doing what she loved.
She fell lucky several more years later, when she found a necklace that granted her the power to walk on land. (read the relationship section with the witch).

✩ disrespecting the people she cares about.
✩ jewlery. she's held even the most expensive jewels in her hands, so it doesn't phase her very much anymore.

RELATIONSHIPS:
✩ father - Artemus Khree Valtros (50) / fc: michael fassbender / The King of Merpeople / Selfless, Level-Headed, Determined, Organized, Authorative, Open-Minded / (3/5)
King Valtros is a very powerful, busy and stoic looking man. He hardly gets the time to spend with his children because most of his time has to go to ruling and making sure that everything goes smoothly in his kingdom. However, he does love his children very much. He may not see them often, but he knows about all of his children's whereabouts. King Valtros is extremely hard on Twila. Twila doesn't know it but he's only so hard on her because he can't afford for her to get hurt in any way. Not after the passing of their mother, Rebecah Anne.
✩ mother - Rebecah Anne Greeves (46) / fc: rebecca mader/ The Late Queen of Merpeople / Strict, Kind, Giving, Graceful, Witty, Sneaky / (5/5) /
Deceased. [[ okay i only used her because she's beaut. LESS just pretend that twila looks like her more than she doesn't-- #slapped]]
✩ Sister - Breyette Vivianna Valtros (28) / fc: holland roden / domestic arangements / stoic, outspoken, punctual, hardworking, responsible, well-rounded / (2/5)
because breyette has domestic arrangements to attend to, she's always busy. she's always been the type who's been "all in" with the crown. she is, next in line after all. twila gets little to no time with breyette. when they do talk, she's taking their fathers side at telling her she needs to stay out of the "land dwellers" business.
✩ Sister - Margurete "Margo" Valtros (26) / fc: eleanor tomlinsin / not applicable / sweet. kind, caring, overprotective, warm, outspoken, just / (5/5)
because margurete doesn't have another job to tend to, twila spends a lot of time with her older sister whether it be doing their "princess duties", or coming up with nonesense to occupy their time. if twila has any secrets, margurete will figure them out. twila can't keep anything from margurete. margurete is twila's mother figure.
✩ Sister - Harrietta "Sixx" Valtros(24) / fc: skyler samuels / not applicable / articulate, perfectionist, shy, quiet, observant / (4/5)
twila spends a lot of her time with sixx since like margurete, she doesn't have any prior engagements. although she's not as close with sixx as she is with margurete, there's hardly a difference in relationships.
✩ Sister - Shelly Anne Valtros (22) / fc: katherine mcnamara / Grandmaster (head of the merpeople military) / personality traits / (2/5)
when it comes to shelly anne, twila sees her as indifferent. shelly anne is never where she needs to be and wants to shrug off her duties as a princess. she is more than willing to get her hands dirty, and has earned her keep as grandmaster. Twila does not get to see her sister often and has a very poor relationship with her.
✩ Sister - Elizabeth Jannine "Janie" Valtros (18) / fc: elle fanning / Minstrel (poet and musician) / playful, loquacious, outgoing, active, adaptive, clumsy / (5/5)
being one of the youngest, janie has to keep her eyes to her older sisters. twila is absolutely head over heels in love with janie.
✩ Sister - Frannie Valtros (16) / fc: francesca capaldi / not applicable / distant, dramatic, gallant, debonair, naive/ignorant / (3/5)
unfortunately, twila has little to no interactions with her little sister. Even less now that she's not even in the sea. They respect each other that's for sure, though.
✩ the witch - Rosette Marienette Dupoint (38) / fc: jenna dewan tatum / Witch / Sly, Calculating, Observant, Strategist, Eloquent / (4/5)
Finding the necklace was no accident. Rosette watched Twila for a long time. Years even. She planted the necklace there for her, so that she'd get stuck with her. Rosette once had been infatuated with the king when they were younger. She was spoken to him at one point, but their gods had cursed her with a terminal disease. The king was forced to choose the next suitor, the late queen. There was one thing her mother could do for her at that point, and that was to get her help, no matter where it came from. She let anybody know that if they helped Rosette, and she made a recovery, that they'd be heavily rewarded. When it came down to it, it was a life for a life. Rosette begged, and pleaded with her mother, but in the end, Rosette's mother had already made her decision. On that evening, her mother sacrificed herself to a powerful witch, who healed Rosette.
If there was one fortunate thing that occured, it was that Rosette received powers as an after effect of the spell used to heal her. When she returned to court, it had been too late. The king was married, and she was green with envy. It became her goal to watch the royal family, and to lie in wait, for the chance to strike the king where it hurt. Luckily, Twila came along, and sweet revenge was hers.
In regards to Twila, she makes it seem like she's a gentle soul, and later on she actually becomes that gentle soul (whenever twila needs her). Somebody who has the answers to help her. They have a decent relationship, and I think they might even get close, since they'll interact with each other whenever Twila needs something. I think, Rosette is going to come to love Twila over the course of her "new human life". And even if the king finds out it was her who did this to his daughter, she's going to face the storm because she loves twila, like her own. She will admit to her wrongs though, and plead with the King to spare her for her insolence.

LAST COMMENT: i am honeslty so happy that you've made a complete story like this! i don't see enough of them and frankly, idol-esque stories are getting old to me. i crave for the au. i'm impressed with your story idea! and i really hope more people apply to make this story happen. i'm going to tell my friends to apply too! xD
SCENE REQUEST:
✩ I feel like Twila is...a little rough around the edges personality-wise, but that's how she's meant to be. So as a request, it'd be cool if Twila had to face some hardships to make her realize how to manage around the crew. & i'll leave her "fixed" personality via character developement up to you!
✩ a scene where twila gets intoxicated via rum or any type of alcohol. i'd want to see a side to her that people wouldn't normally see, a.k.a her fun, talkative, loose side.
✩ some fluff between her and thomas
