ELABORATION

hyunmi is a complicated being. she is hard to get to know due to her natural introversion and nerves getting to know new people. while she genuinely does enjoy people at times, she struggles to show her true feelings due to a mental block. it is not often that she can act naturally or comfortably due to a sort of self-consciousness. she worries about the expressions she makes, the words she says, the way she says them and because of that, she often comes off cold. the truth is that hyunmi really is warm-hearted and will love almost anyone who tries to make a place in her life. she always has extra room in her heart and you feel that love. her go-to farewell is "bye, love you!" and hyunmi loves physical contact. she craves it and is more than happy to give it back. if you earn your place in her heart, you will have that love always. she does not easily take it back unless you have proven yourself unworthy in multiple ways- not quite multiple times.

2001-2011. hyunmi, born officially as henri sun is the middle of a total of five children. before her, and older brother and an older sister were born in south korea. she was the first of the children born in the united states, and after her, another boy and a girl were born. her parents were well-off financially and she grew up with a mix of traditional korean and american customs. despite being called henri in school, she insisted on being called hyunmi at home since they spoke korean there anyway. she fell in love with music from an early age when her parents bought her a toy piano as a child. hyunmi did quite well in school and was considered one of the smart kid. she had a few close friends but was not very social and hated having birthday parties.

2011-2014. just before she turned ten, hyunmi's family made the move back to seoul, south korea. she was excited and nervous to see her parent's home country and was disappointed to find the country was not as physically-affectionate, open-minded, or appreciated her brand of cold-but-caring. after hearing her older sister's favorite bands (apink, dal shabet, b1a4, coed school, and infinite), hyunmi decided that she wanted to be an idol. she found that she had no particular talent in singing or dancing, but her rapping was something that she could be pretty good at. she auditioned for cube and jyp, but only heard back from jyp. she joined in 2012, and there she met her closest friend- bang chan, or chris bang from australia. they both bonded as they were trainees from foreign countries, and he took her under his wing. with his help, she learned how to use her creativity to pen lyrics.

2014-2016. however, jyp was not the company for her. in 2014, after being harshly criticized at the trainee showcase, hyunmi took a look at the artists the company was producing and realized it was not the place for her. after two or so years (give or take a few months, hyunmi had realized later that somewhere along the time that she had stopped counting, which made her sad), she knew that she was going to get nothing out of there any longer. they had only really stabilized her singing and taught her how to dance to a beat in that time, and criticized her looks. they did nearly nothing to improve her rapping and she was done. after leaving the company, hyunmi feared she would not be able to ever debut- and this had become her life's dream and purpose. she was dedicated to this. thankfully, after auditioning everywhere imaginable, she was finally accepted by brand new music. after, she became absorbed in everything about becoming an idol.

TRAINEE LIFE
as previously mentioned, hyunmi originally auditioned for cube and jyp, but was rejected immediately from cube and only made it into jyp. once there, she became close friends with the australian trainee bang chan who really taught her the most there. he had been there for about a year and he helped her improve her rapping much more than her trainers did. while in jyp entertainment, she was taught to keep her voice stable. that was how she spent most of her time, and some minor time teaching her how to loosen her body to dance better. she had minimal rap training and they only ever used her lyric-writing abilities (which she learned of thanks to chan) once. it was often that she was criticized by her trainers for her visuals. they did nothing to truly hone her skills. after a trainee showcase where she was berated and realizing that even though she was not eliminated from the company, she was considered a failure of a trainee, hyunmi made her choice.
after leaving and eventually joining brand new music, her rapping improved significantly. she was not particularly one to get to know her fellow trainees, but she really learned how to project and really get a good sound. she was able to co-write jea's just one day in 2015 and really has enjoyed her time as a trainee there.

PERSONALITY

chris bang, or chan as he is known in south korea, is truly a hard-working and passionate man. he has been a trainee in 2011 and will not stop until he debuts. he cares very much for his fellow trainees and is the type to give things up in order for them to shine more, no matter how much he wants to debut. chan is well-rounded and does well in pretty much everything he tries, but he does not let this get to his head. he is capable and has a very strong heart. he does not allow himself to get discouraged because of this, he does not know when to quit. there are things that would have been better to give up or move on from, but chan does not know when to stop or give up. It's just simply something that is not inside him. he is critical of both himself and others and makes these criticisms clear and concise. he doesn't mess around, especially when trying to get people to improve their lackluster skills. even still, chan's leaderlike personality and sweet, kind nature is soothing and likeable. it's hard not to fall for his charms one way or another. his realism when it comes to some things can be offputting and perhaps a bit cruel at times, as well.

THEIR STORY

the first meeting was day one when hyunmi joined jyp. since chan was fluent in english and was her senior trainee-wise by one year, he was assigned to help her get used to her training schedule and how trainee life worked there. he was very kind and happy to meet someone else who was fluent in english, even if she was shy and did not speak much. once hyunmi began to open up more with him, chan realized that she had a lot of potential in songwriting and producing and began to teach her how to write songs. once he realized that the company was not intending on debuting her as an idol and rather a model or actress, he kept it to himself and decided to help teach her rap. though his own skills in that area were not phenomenal, they were more than passable and it was better than the small amount they were offering her. chan was angry on her behalf bt never let it show.

he encouraged her to leave jyp when she first brought the idea up after the disaster of her 2014 trainee showcase performance and she took his word for it. by that time, he was one of her closest friends and she looked up to her "chan oppa" quite a lot. he was good at everything, had a beautiful smile, never gave up, and always supported her. he taught her more than their company ever did and had never steered her wrong in the past. when she did leave, it was a little sad because they rarely saw each other. before hyunmi joined brand new music, she was able to make time to meet him for lunch or go to karaoke or something, but once she got pulled back into trainee life, something changed a bit.

chan realized the way he missed her was not the same way he missed his friends in australia. yes, hyunmi was four years younger than him. yes, she was talented and amazing. yes, she was his close friend. but did he like her, romantically? yes. still, he kept these feelings to himself and resigned himself to texting her whenever he could. any time he got to himself, he would immediately invite hyunmi to teach her how to produce music, because he knew that she was interested in it and that would guarantee some time with her. he was a little ashamed of his roundabout behavior, but up until now he has failed to realize that hyunmi feels the same sort of affection.

the way she cuddles up to him has a different meaning than when it is with her other friends. she values her time spent with him more than with others. hyunmi has the biggest crush on him but right now, she needs to debut. so she will suffer with only seeing him very rarely to work on learning how to produce music and texting him whenever she is on her phone.

the ending 

Honestly I absolutely want the angst of Hyunmi I need to debut and my team needs me more than you do but also perhaps promises of something more in the future when they're more established groups, both of them? Or maybe they try a romance but it crashes and burns because they're both too dedicated to their teams. On-again-off-again? Okay actually anything that can have both angsty and cute, sweet moments will be good.
