When you get the notification for New Friends! , You either have to accept their friend request or sent them a friend request and they have to accept it.

 But recently I once got a notification forNew Friends! But I neither sent them a friend request or accepted one but BAM! There was this notification and they had become a friend.

Is this normal or has my account been hacked? I really need to know if this was just a glitch.
