ELABORATION —
"Why I'm not saying anything? Well, it's not interesting so why should I talk?"
• Calm and quiet, but active: Seokjin is usually not that excitable, and is one of the more quiet members of the group. He usually doesn't say much, because he just has nothign to say. If he does have something to say though, it is often something that shooks them all. He knows how to stay calm and make rational decisions when he's feeling good. He is usually the calmest of the members and if the others would be freaking out over something he would calmly solve the problem. But while he is very calm, the young boy has an unending love for sports, so he is also really active. He absolutely loves sports and he needs to have his daily dose of sports. When he's playing sports, he transforms into a ball of energy who's not the calm and quiet boy, but probably the noisiest of all, just because he loves sports so much.
"Should I pull my baby face? Or my manly face?"
• Hard-working and versatile: Seokjin is a very hard-working boy. He wants to make it and even if he doesn't like the idea, he'll still put his everything into it. Even if he hates the idea and he was forced into it, he would work super hard to perfect it. Of course as (possible) maknae he feels lots of pressure, since the maknae should be the first one to wake up and the last one to finish practicing, that's what he believes. Seokjin often works so hard that he's on the brink of collapsing from exhaustion or just straight up fainting. He just doesn't have a stop button on him, oh, nevermind, he has a stop button on his , but he gets furious when someone dares to touch his precious cheeks, even though he secretly likes it. He is also very versatile. He has grown up constantly having to obey his parents, so he just obeys, even if he doesn't like it, and does his best. That makes him very versatile in concepts, but it's also because he can go from a fluffy 5-years old to a manly 25-years old in just 1 second. Just one wipe over his face and poof, he went from cute baby to a handsome man.
"I'm sorry, I'm sure you're a nice guy but... Just give me some time, please..."
• Noncommittal: Seokjin isn't the person to open up to people quickly, he only opens up to them completely when he knows for sure that they will be good to him and not hurt him. He was once forced to leave all his friends behind for something he didn't even want. He used to be so happy and cheerful and talkative, but now he just wants to not make too much friends so he doesn't have to get hurt, and doesn't have to hurt them either. Pretty much the only ones he has opened up to completely after moving to Korea are Park Jihoon, Choi Yerim and Choi Haseul.
"Uhm, excuse me? You want me to send you flying to a hospital?"
• Stubborn and hot-headed: This side of him doesn't always appear that easily, but it is on specific topics and moments that Seokjin will become a hot pepper. He's really sensitive when it comes to love, friendship, arguments between other members, laziness and just plain stupid people. These things really irritate him and if you comfront them with it, he'll become either grumpy like a child or really mad. His friends classify him as a fiery tsundere, one who doesn't get only mad when it comes to his crush and love life, but to more things as well. But yes, he is definitely a tsundere towards his crush and his friends as well. He always rejects skinship and says he hates it, but he actually just hopes it will give him more. Cuddles are actually the best way to calm him down when he's not feeling well.
"I was never made for this... But my parents made me do it..."
• Anxious and clueless: Poor Seokjin doesn't have it easy though, people who don't know him often think he's just a brat because of his behavior, but close friends know what's really wrong. Seokjin is worried. He is stuck in a career that he never wanted to do, but rather keep as a hobby. yes, he loves to dance and sing, but he just never saw it as a career for him, but he was forced into it by his parents. He doesn't know what to do with his life and what to do in the future, and around a bunch of strangers that he is still awkward with with no one of his friends around, he feels lost and often has to deal with sudden boatloads of stress. His groupmates worry about him, but they don't know how to deal with it yet.
BACKGROUND —
• Little Seokjin was born in Manchester, being the youngest of a fully Korean family. He had two big sisters who loved to play with him and drag him into their girly stuff, so Seokjin's first years weren't easy for him in that way. From a young age, the boy was sociable, happy and loved to run around, tumble and just make lots of movements that wasted energy. There was always something on with him and his parents constantly had to watch him so he didn't run off or injure himself while doing something crazy. His parents somehow saw star quality in the little, cute boy, so they send him to piano lessons and vocal lessons as soon as possible. But Seokjin hated it, he was constantly whining to go to the taekwondo club instead, any sports club would be fine for little Seokjin, as long as he could practice. After years of whining and causing trouble, his parents gave in and let him join the taekwondo club. As soon as he did, Seokjin started to tolerate the other lessons too, and honestly, he was afraid of his parents, so he always practiced like he had to and did well, but he secretly just wanted to stop and do taekwondo instead. He absolutely loved sports. But his parents had his life planned out, they would move to Korea when he was 12 and put him into a training company and make sure he debuted, because his parents absolutely wanted Seokjin to become an idol in their homecountry.
Seokjin was a very popular boy and had lots of friends and despite being forced into lots of things by his parents, he worked hard and was very happy with what he could get. Until his parents told him they would move to Korea, just a few days before they actually departed. Hyunmin had to leave his happy life behind, his friends who he loved so much and his taekwondo club. In Korea, he first had a year to adjust, going to school, being the best boy in taekwondo class and also working hard in piano, vocal and dancing class, because he felt like he had to. Okay, over time, Seokjin was actually growing to hate it less, but he still would like to just stop if he wasn't so obedient, and afraid of his parents. In the dancing club he made a friend, Park Jihoon, who was one year older than him. That boy dreamt of becoming an idol, but his singing didn't go that well. Both envied each other, Jihoon envied Seokjin because he had a really cute and pretty voice, while Jihoon himself had a more manlier voice, and Seokjin envied Jihoon, because he actually was doing what he wanted to do. Seokjin wished he could enjoy music as much as Jihoon did and actually enjoy what he was forced to do. After a year, his parents told him to start auditioning for companies, they set up the auditions for him, and Seokjin just had to perform the song they chose for him. After a few tries at other companies, Seokjin got in Blockberry creative. A company that didn't have many trainees yet, but his parents thought it was a good company for him, because they were rich. There were mostly girls around, happy, friendly girls who all enjoyed music a lot. There was one girl in particular, Choi Haseul, who seemed to keep an eye on the new trainee boy. When the older girl with the sharp eyes talked to Seokjin, the first thing she said was: "You don't want to be here, right?" Actually, Seokjin had grown so used to it that he wasn't even sure if he enjoyed it or not anymore, he was in doubt. He didn't say much, but for Haseul it was enough to see him through, and she started to take care of him.
A few months after Seokjin had started his training, a new girl joined the company, who was a year younger than him, and changed the mood of the company completely. A happy, energetic and cheerful girl who loved to chitchat with everyone, basically a female Seokjin when he was still living in Manchester. She had a huge love for music, the biggest love Seokjin had ever seen. And damn, that girl was cute. When she was performing, she started to beam, well, she was always beaming, with such a bright smile and lovely voice. Seokjin's eyes were constantly drawn to her. But he didn't dare to approach her, because he had become very careful with friendships, and afraid that he would start crushing on her. But when she approached him, he just couldn't escape. Her name? Choi Yerim. Yerim turned out to be a very nice girl and together with Haseul they hung out with Seokjin. When he had opened up to them completely, he didn't even notice, because it just felt so normal to be with them. The boy was only 14 when he first felt his heart flutter when looking at Choi Yerim, but he knew that it wasn't the time to be dating, and both were only young teens, so he tried to ignore it. Haseul though, she immediately noticed, it's like she had a few extra senses. She started to innocently, but while old Seokjin would've laughed, new Seokjin got mad, very mad, and both him and Haseul were startled of his heavy reaction. He couldn't control it. Immediately afterwards, he became sad, actually starting to cry, but Haseul has always a good girl, and understood him, and forgave him. Seokjin still wonders how Haseul can always see through him so easily, she's always the first to notice if something's up with him, even when he himself doesn't know it yet. During his time with Yerim and Haseul, Seokjin actually started to enjoy singing and dancing, he had grown so used to it, but it was also because the two ladies showed him how amazing it actually was. His heart will always be with sports, but at least he accepted that he was becoming an idol, and he knew he would probably enjoy it. Thank goodness we have Haseul and Yerim. But not even a year after he had met Yerim, Seokjin was forced to leave her and Haseul behind.
"You're going to WM instead, Seokjin."
When his parents brought him the news, Seokjin exploded (not literally). All of the emotions he had kept to himself because he was afraid escaped all at once. The boy was furious, extremely ing furious. He completely lost control, lashing out at his parents like he never did before, screaming, crying, even begging that he could stay with BBC, stay with two of his only friends in Korea. But his parents exploded as well, easily overpowering his anger. They showed Seokjin who's boss, and the boy got so afraid that he had to retreat and obey yet again. With a broken heart, Seokjin had to say his goodbye to Blockberry creative, Yerim and Haseul. And he head out to WM. It was October of 2014.
Seokjin didn't want to get close to anyone in WM, to everyone's confusion, he simply hid himself away. He had several reasons: he didnt want to be there, he wanted to return to his two ladies, and on the other side he was afraid, afraid that if he got close to them, his parents would make him move companies again. But maybe if he did debut with the other boys, his parents would let him be, so Seokjin worked harder than ever to appeal to the staff to secure a spot in Oh My Boy. Yerim and Haseul were very sad that he had to leave their company, but they knew how hard Seokjin had it, so they went to visit as often as they could, comforting Seokjin and making sure he was feeling well. In 2016 he'll be debuting with Oh My Boy, even though he is awkward with all the members, not even knowing some of their names, but he's determined to make it. The other boys were quite afraid to approach him because he seemed kinda scary with his quiet nature and taekwondo skills (he used to sneak out a lot to practice taekwondo). But now that Seokjin knows for sure that he can stay with these boys, he'll start to open up to them at his own pace. It all started thanks to one boy who joined on the exact same day as him, Hyojong. Hyojong will be the first to figure out how to calm Seokjin down, and now that the members know how to deal with this (possible) maknae, they'll make him feel at home with them. Little Seokjin will feel better once he grows closer to them throughout the story, and maybe he'll become the happy, talkative boy he once was, thanks to Park Jihoon, Choi Yerim, Choi Haseul, and definitely Oh my boy.
