I don't there really is a set definition of "ok" xD but as a rule of thumb, <1k may be considered a drabble instead and anything above 10k might be too long for a chapter.
I believe that a chapter ends when you've covered everything you wanted to in that single chapter. Some writers like me tend to have a set goal for words counts on a single chapter so you can try to do that yourself too.
