What it is like to be 21 and suffering from Cervical Herniated Disc

Okay 2017 was a great year for me I got to experience what life really is. I got a new job and this said job pays me well. I am happy this 2017 because on my previous blog I was ranting and ranting about stuff and now that I am 21 and now in right terms with my parents especially my mother. (Still not allowed to go on road trips and other travel stuff.) well my parents are finally accepting and okay with me.

Okay this year was great I graduated college, I found a new job and I am happy but it all went down the drain when November last year I was feeling things that really bothered me because it was a constant feeling of strain in both my arms, pins and needles and that painful jolts of electricity climbing up and down my arms. It was hard because I am working inside a kitchen and not just that a very busy kithchen. It killed me inside because I couldn't do the thing I love most. (Well second to kpop) I didn't know what it was until I felt that immense pain running up and down my arms up until my finger tips I was really shocked at that point because I don't know what the hell is happening with my body. So I decided to go to the doctor. The doctor tested my arms and fingers, I did pinch test and initially diagnosed with Carpal Tunnel Syndrome what irks me is that I am only 21 and I have this the doctors are actually in pure shock and they told me that this is not common with my age. Later on I had to pass through 3 doctors because my arms are always in pain, they felt strain and there was this feeling of pins and needles constantly and it affected me during work. The second doctor agreed with my first diagnosis which is Carpal Tunnel Syndrome. The doctor made me leave work for a while to rest and he referred me to another doctor this time a Physical Therapist. I was already bothered with the Carpal Tunnel syndrome until this doctor asked me to undergo the MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging) and he brought the saddest news of all.

I am diagnosed with more than just a Carpal Tunnel Syndrome but a Cervical Herniated Disc. (A herniated disk refers to a problem with one of the rubbery cushions (disks) between the individual bones (vertebrae) that stack up to make your spine. A spinal disk is a little like a jelly donut, with a softer center encased within a tougher exterior. Sometimes called a slipped disk or a ruptured disk, a herniated disk occurs when some of the softer "jelly" pushes out through a tear in the tougher exterior.A herniated disk can irritate nearby nerves and result in pain, numbness or weakness in an arm or leg.) [Mayoclinic.org]  (Yes I googled it hahahahaha)

This Herniated disc explained it all from the pain and strain I was feeling but then the doctor told me that it was on stage 2 it was caught earlier which was a good thing but I had to leave work for like 2 weeks with no pay. I didn't know what to do. I was sad because I can't perform the same inside the kitchen because my co-workers always tell me to be careful. I am not allowed to do heavy lifting, overwork my arms or my neck will strain. Yep many things can happen. It's sad that this happened to me but this is God's test and I know he will help me surpass this injury. I know he will.

So I will make a comeback here on AFF just wait a little longer guys haha it is hard but I will comeback. I have to go through numerous amounts of therapy and medications but I know I will get by this injury. So to all of you out there don't force your body too much or you'll end up like me. Once you already felt something go to the doctor or rest up it really helps a lot.

Don't over work your bodies okay. Always stay hydrated and drink vitamins!
