this date witnessed the union of woo jeongseok and julia mitchell through marriage. he was a country boy from daegu and she was a city girl from florida who moved to south korea a decade ago, they had been high school sweethearts and today they were ready to start the rest of their lives together, with the children they were going to conceive and raise with all the love in the world.

six-year-old joonsun cautiously peeked into the bundle that his mother was holding. with a smile of assurance from her, she gently placed the bundle in joonsun's small arms. at first he panicked a little at the thought of carrying a tiny person, but the moment his eyes were laid on the face of his newborn sister, he was captivated.

joonsun and jooseol were inseparable siblings. they had a mutual interest in music and were both gifted as well; they could play piano by ear, joonsun also knowing the flute and jooseol the drums. while it was merely a hobby for jooseol, it was joonsun's passion—he was ready to make music his living once he finished high school. he wanted to be a singer-songwriter and his whole family approved of his dreams.

a month away from jooseol's birthday, joonsun had a song prepared as a present, but he never had the chance to perform it for her. it had been a boring day at school when their father picked jooseol up from school early because of an emergency. there's been an accident, father said with a shaky voice and watery eyes once they were in the car, your brother's hurt.

jooseol cried herself to sleep that night, her heart aching for her poor brother. she could no longer hear joonsun's beautiful voice singing to her, and he could no longer hear himself playing on his favourite musical instruments. he would no longer be able to live out his dreams.

jooseol had an ear for music, that was for sure, but she wasn't sure she had the same singing skills as her brother once did. to her, she sounds just like a dying bird. so instead of taking up singing, she decided to try out rapping, after all she loved writing lyrics and listening to k-hiphop. at her young age, she explored the underground rap scene, thanks to her brother's connections with fellow humans of music. she was the youngest and one of the only few girls around, but she was a fastlearner and whoever dissed her about her age or gender, she would kill them with just one verse.

it was around the time that autumn was unfolding that she decided to quit the underground and move up to the mainstream. she wanted to become an idol, because she knew her extraverted self wouldn't survive as a soloist, and discussed about it with her family over dinner. of course, they were reluctant to agree—the thought of allowing their young daughter living in the city alone was terrifying—but upon receiving assurance from julia's brother that he and his family will take good care of jooseol in seoul, they approved.
at just the age of fourteen, jooseol's journey to stardom began.

young lamb jooseol decided to audition for one of the most popoular entertainment companies in south korea, partly because she believed a big company would mean bigger chances of being accepted. turned out the judges at her audition didn't really care that she could rap to beenzino's if i die tomorrow—they made her sing and dance instead, and while she at both, she made it in. it didn't take her long to guess that it was probably just for her more than mediocre looks.

it was too late for her to discover that jyp wasn't the best company for growing rappers, however. in simple words, being a trainee there was living hell. the rules were tight, especially in the presence of big seniors. she barely had time to focus on rap because she had to hop from vocal class to dance class all day long and she was clearly lacking in both. she was the worst trainee in vocals and though she could keep up with dancing, she was definitely standing out as someone who raised questions as to how she could make it in.

though she had made some lifelong friends at jyp, she often felt like giving up. maybe the idol life wasn't for her, she had thought, maybe she should just try out being a solo rapper, she pondered.
but each time she remembered how her brother was excited to see her perform on music shows and appear on variety shows, she knew she had to continue going.

two thousand fifteen to now.
only about two weeks before the start of jyp's trainee survival show sixteen, jooseol quit. she had been watching bts' new music video when the realisation hit her that maybe bighit would be a better home to prepare her to become an idol. so she left jyp, auditioned for bighit by rapping to the beat of lighters by bad meets evil, while using her own lyrics. she was then accepted as a trainee and that's where she's been ever since.

in spite of jooseol's fierce demeanour, she's actually not very competitive, partially because she's already confident with her standards and where she stands. she's helpful and friendly, capable of casually striking up a conversation with any trainee who coincidentally is just standing next to her. of course, there were a number of trainees who loathed her, either because they envied her or because they saw her as a b*tch, but she wouldn't notice nor would she even care. she didn't see any other trainee as a rival and was too busy training hard to trash talk other girls. she was probably the star student among the rappers and since she didn't have to worry about singing, she really put her all into dancing. as assertive as she is, jooseol wouldn't say that training at bighit was a breeze, but it was definitely easier than at jyp.

she was pretty confident that she'd debut someday soon, considering her acknowledged rap skills and tremendous improvement in dancing. and even if lunation wasn't fated for her, she would never stop trying.

LOVE STORY

the seventeen project first begun in twenty thirteen, and as a fan of after school, jooseol was updated with pledis entertainment's news and therefore introduced to their latest boy group project. they had live broadcasts during training every now and then to showcase their lovable personalities to the public; that was how jooseol decided she was ready to stan seventeen forever. that was also how she fell in love for the first time, with one of the boys that was named lee seokmin. she liked all the boys but seokmin just owned a special part of her heart.
 

fast forward to several years later, jooseol was still as big of a carat as she was back then and she's still completely whipped for seokmin. since before her debut, she pesters jungkook to tell her what seokmin is really like, to show her pictures of them that have never been exposed to fans, etc. upon debut, if asked who her ideal type is, she won't hesitate to say seokmin's name. if asked which celebrity she'd like to have a duet with, she'd say seokmin's name and add that she'll gladly write the song herself. she'd scream whenever fans give her seventeen merchandise at fanmeets and she'll cherish them all. and jungkook, being the good oppa he is, decides that he should introduce jooseol to the love of her life.

hence, once upon a time at an awards show where it's the holy gathering of idols, away from the cameras and audience, jungkook finds time to drag jooseol to meet his mates in seventeen. seeing seokmin up close was like a dream come true and it was enough to turn jooseol into a quiet, shy mess. seokmin himself was flustered and embarrassed to have this pretty and talented girl as his fan, but they had a good, small conversation and jungkook was proud of his own achievement. phone numbers were exchanged on the topic of having a duet and the deal was sealed. from then on, their texts became about memes and praising each other for a good comeback, longer and deeper conversations were shared, sweet smiles and sneaking glances reserved only for one another any time they were in the same room. fans were aware of their blossoming friendship and were on the edge of their butts waiting for their duet.
