Don't be afraid to seek help

Dear you,

You who are reading this post right now. If things get hard, never be afraid to reach out for help. You are loved. You are worth it. You are enough. The world needs you. Your family needs you. Your friends need you. We need you. The universe would be so much darker and emptier without you. Please, if you feel like you can't deal with hardhips on your own or you can't cope with your feelings, never be afraid to talk to someone, let it be a relative, a friend, a teacher, a counsellor, a therapist or me. You can always message me, I'm always here for you. I've been there, I know how it feels. Whatever it is, you can come to me.

I'm currently seeing a psychologist myself and I'm certain I wouldn't be here today if it weren't for my therapy sessions and a support of a special someone. My mental health issues weren't taken seriously until I hit rock bottom, so I know how much it if you feel like you are alone. You are never alone. Don't wait until it gets harder.

I know we are often told that our problems aren't big enough but those problems can lead to other problems and serious consequences. There's no shame in talking about your obstacles. There's no shame in seeing a psychologist. I know there's a stigma to mental health issues but I promise it can get better. I've never been more aware of my feelings and I've never been more mentally stable than right now and it's all thanks to the support of my psychologist and my eldest sister.

I'm here to tell you that it's okay to ask for help. You are not weak. I'm open about my issues because I want to show you that there's a way out of that bottomless darkness that you are in right now and that it's okay to feel like this. Just know that there are better days ahead of you.

Kim Jonghyun was a wonderful, kind-hearted, hard-working and extremely talented young man who stood up for the LGBT community and mental health issues. The world will be a darker place without him. I would never blame him for commiting suicide. I'm sure he would have found a different way if he could. My deepest condolences to Jonghyun's family, friends, the SHINee members, to every single Shawol out there and to everyone who has known him. May he rest in peace.

Thank you for taking the time to write this. I can relate to you in terms of depression in the past and I honestly think what you're doing, sharing your story and telling people it's okay to seek help, is very caring and kind of you. I hope you continue inspiring people in the future and again, thanks for writing this to those who need it. :)
