The first thing that people always notice about Riley upon meeting her is her unwavering confidence. She is confident of herself and she REALLY shows it.  It's sort of like this vibe she has that really draws people to her. It's a kind of refined,quiet confidence. The way she presents herself and how she projects her voice is one of her distinguishing traits from the rest.  To some,this is undeniably appealing maybe even y if you're into that but to others,this may come off as arrogance. She's got her fair share of both admirers and haters due to this unparalleled confidence,honestly. Riley is also very protective of her family members and friends,always willing to sacrifice anything to keep them away from harm's way. Her family is the single most important thing to her and she will do anything in her power to defend them.  This makes others feel secure and comfortable in her presence. Riley is however,rather judgemental but please do not be mistaken. She is one of the most accepting people around but she almost never gives people with a 'bad reputation' the benefit of the doubt. She's critical of who she forges friendly relationships with and the harsh truth is - Riley is too prideful.She's wary of people with a 'bad rep' because she doesn't want to be seen associating with someone who's perceived as bad. She's afraid of the kind of damage it would do to her image. 

Riley is also very honest,to the point of almost being brutally honest. She doesn't believe in sugarcoating her words and just tells the truth straight out. This can be both good and bad depending on what she's saying. it's good in a way that she can be relied on to provide others with the truth when others aren't willing to say it. It is however bad in a way that she's hardly got a filter so her words aren't censored. She may very easily offend or upset others without meaning to. She's also very resourceful. Always the thinker of the group,she contributes an endless flow of unique ideas and is also able to think on her feet to get herself out of trouble. Riley is so opinionated such that others can find her very irritating. She really can't help it,she wants to always BE RIGHT. She has strong opinions and she's just not afraid to express them.  Riley can also be very caring though. She cares for others just like how an older sister would care for her siblings. Riley is always the first person to wish you a speedy recovery if you were sick and will be the first few at your doorstep with hot soup. It's just her generous nature. She has no qualms about spending too much money on her friends and family because they mean so much to her. She's also very stubborn,not easily swayed from her own original decision. She can thus be relied on to make swift decisive decisions but it can be a pain in the to get her to change her opinions from a terrible decision.

Riley can be bossy at times and a tad too controlling. It's another trait that she really can't change or help herself. She cannot stand things going awry so she feels a need to command others to change it. Riley wants things to be in proper order and demands rather than ask for cooperation. She's also very down-to-earth. Riley is sensible,practical and realistic such that she knows that dreams aren't real until you gear up and do something to make them real. She doesn't dwell in dreams and rarely has her head in the clouds.  Riley is also quite hot-tempered and doesn't tolerate bull from anyone. She is easily irritated and she's got a fearsome temper to behold if you ever do try to cross this girl. She's quick to bite someone head off and lash at you with her sharp tongue with no regrets afterwards. Riley is also very humorous and just downright hilarious at times. Her jokes are well-timed and just pure genius. Her quick and sharp wit is one of the main contributing factors to her snark humour. With a love for jokes and funny catchphrases,her friends are always tickled pink when they listen to her go off with her hilarious jokes and clapbacks. Riley is extremely passionate about the thing she loves and never stops pursuing her own happiness. She's a huge believer that your life is in your own hands and it is only yourself who can make your life full of joy and laughter. She bears a strong love for the things that she loves and even if any of her hobbies were to be outdated one day,she would still pursue it with a fiery passion.  She's tenacious and never gives up on her own goals,both long and short term. Riley is a fighter to the end and pursues the things she wishes to achieve in life with a vigour that cannot be contested against.

In front of the camera and in front of fans,she's lively and very vibrant. She loves to lead the conversation and answer tricky questions thrown to the group,sort of giving herself the role of the speaker at times which could be frustrating. Her passion for music and singing shines onstage when she performs,almost GLOWING from her entire being. She likes performing fanservice as a way to appreciate her fans and even sometimes at fansigns,she buys tons of packets of sweet candy to treat and give to the fans to as a token of gratitude that they have supported Black Velvet as fans.

Riley is very responsive towards her own love life honestly. She's no hopeless romantic or traditionist. Unlike the girls in korean society,Riley isn't shy or submissive when it comes to men. She doesn't shy back or avoid eye contact,rather she goes right at it. As she says,this isn't the 90s. Girls can approach guys and girls as well. She's usually the initiator in relationships and also sometimes too independant. Yet if in love,she is just about the most giving girlfriend ever. She would shower you with love and cuddles and buy you anything you want if it's within reason. Her resolve dissolves if completely in love and you'll see a different side of her. You wouldn't see the fiery Riley,only the surprisingly gentle and soft-hearted Riley.

When angered,she's like a ticking time bomb. Nobody knows when she would just explode and let her anger burst forth. You don;t want to see her mad,you really don't. She's like a lioness when she's angry,lashing out at people with unusually harsh words. Her voice raised and her eyes wild with fury. Trust me,it's not something you want to see.

Riley was born on the 5th of May 1996 to the Jeon family in Michigan,USA. Years later,her mother would joke that she had been a fiesty and stubborn one even during her arrival to the world because of how long her mother had to stay in the hospital for delivery. Her parents were of Korean descent but they both held US citizenship and were raised in the states. She also had a brother who was 4 years older than she was.

Her childhood in her memory,was very memorable for her. While her mother cooked and cleaned,she would prance around the yard chasing her older brother with a child tennis racket. She played with mud during rainy days and organised imaginary tea parties with her toys in the afternoons. Sometimes,she would stir cookie batter with her mother and other times she'd visit the neighbours to play with Bella Schroder,a girl of her age and equally wild. Occasionally,her mother would take both her and her brother out to cycle or to the nearby park to play with the other children. Her confident nature festered at a very young age as she made fast friends with most of the children. As the years passed,her brother began attending the kindergarten but things didn't make much of a difference for her due to her many friends around the neighbourhood. Her days were mostly spent with her mother and friends. Her father was a busy man,working for an airline company and worked long hours. He left before the family awoke and came home after everyone was asleep. Despite this however,he tried his best to make up for the lost time. He would try to take a day off at time to bring the family out for a movie or perhaps a picnic. He bought toys for his children and would regularly buy treats for his wife,who had a penchant and constant craving for chocolates. 

Kindergarten and elementary school was quite an adventure for her. She made countless friends (And enemies) throughout her years. The teachers either loved or hated her for either her perceived ready attitude in class or her 'smart alec' attitude. Depends on how they see it really. She was fast learner but stubborn and obstinate to the end. Her best friend,Bella was her perfect partner in crime. They were dubbed the 'dynamic duo' by the other kids and teachers alike for their brillant ideas and mischief. It also in elementary school where she first discovered her love for singing and music. Riley was always attentive during music lessons and love to sing. Even during school concerts,she fought for the lead singing roles. She would practice endlessly at home and listened to music for hours at the record store. 

This life would all come crashing down the year she turned 12. Her father had announced that they were to move to Singapore for his job. He had been transferred there for a minimum of one year. To say that Riley was devastated would be an understatement. Her life wasn't supposed to be anywhere else. Her life was here. Right here in the US. When they moved to Singapore,Riley took quite a while to get used to the hot tropical weather of Singapore. it really seemed like the sun was extra hot and bright here in this island. She attended an international school but unlike in the US,she didn't have much luck finding friends. There were just so many cliques and school politics! it seemed like something straight out of the set of 'Mean Girls'. Only this is a reality. She was sulky and angry,she didn't talk to anyone. Not even her brother. Yet eventually she grew used to it after almost half a year. Sulking wasn't going to bring her back to the US. She also started talking to her neighbour,a slender girl of 15 by the name of Ang Cui Ying. Riley would grow to realised that she had very confusing feelings rising up in her when they interacted. She never felt this way before for a girl. Riley was feeling nervous whenever she saw Cui Ying around and a warm glow of joy would spread through her being when she talked to the older girl. Her heart tingled whenever Cui Ying laughed. She started to question her uality and after a while of soul searching (ALL 9 MONTHS OF IT),she concluded that she was biual. There was no denying it. Only she wished that she had realised it earlier. The Jeon family was bound for Russia due to her father's job again so without keeping in contact with her first girl crush,they left Singapore. In Russia,life wasn't much different. She was still hated and loved equally and of the two countries they had moved to in the span of 4 years,she had to say that she liked Singapore better because of a certain someone. Cui Ying till this day,holds a small but very significant part of her heart. Throughout these 4 years,Riley wouldn't have gone through it without music. Music was her saviour and she singed whenever she felt particularly lonely. Music was her escape. It was the one passion she would never let go. It helped her remember her lovely memories back in the state. It was her one link to beautiful flashbacks.

They moved to South Korea from Russia when she was 16 and that was where she got her first dose of K-pop. Moving to South Korea wasn't bad,seeing that most of their relatives lived there. Riley felt loved by her family despite being in a foreign environment that was nowhere like the US where she lived most of her life. Back to the catch,she loved this new genre of music she was hearing. There were so many concepts to it,like a multi-faceted diamond. There was cute,y and dark. Everything! Although it wasn't like English music,it was a refreshing alternative. In South Korea,RIley wasn't the popular one. Her Americanised ways were too much for the Koreans and some despised her open attitude. Yet,she wasn't bullied. Don't worry,RIley's too badass for that. No way,she's going to let some random kids bully her!  She didn't join any clubs or societies because in her logic,she wasn't about to deal with bull when she can avoid it. She couldn't give a flying rat's what they think of her absence. Riley had only her ipod and her book (Game of Thrones,of course) to keep her company and that was good enough. She was later discovered by an SM scout while she was mindlessly singing on her way home from school at the age of 16 nearing 17 ,just 7 months after she came to Korea. Riley then decided to give the auditions a try with hopes of gaining fame and experience in the music industry. What better way to start than from here? She hence auditioned with the song 'Slow Down' by Selena Gomez and was accepted in her first try.

• Game of Thrones (She's in love with both the TV and book series and is insistent that she belongs in House Stark but she's really a true Baratheon through and through.)
• Peaches (They are her favourite fruit and since her dad was fond of peaches,she grew to be fond of them as well especially when her father would always buy them.)

Riley is 165cm and of average/normal bmi with a weight of 53kg. Her height is one of the more stand out physical traits she has. She's described to be slender but not unhealthily so. Her skin is rather fair because she doesn't tan easily too. Her hair is usually rather long and has been dyed numerous times despite cautions from her mother that it's not good for her scalp. She has a piercing on each ear and a faded beige birthmark at the right blade of her shoulder. She's a fan of makeup but to her,less is more. She's into that natural look but it changes sometimes. 

FASHION STYLE 

Her fashion style is best described to be classy,girly and elegant. She's a er for shoes,especially heels. Riley prefers skirts and dresses to pants and shorts. She's not one for excessive jewelry but she does like to wear them every once in a while. She does own a couple pairs of pants but she matches them with very classy blouses and shirts so that the overall effect is still one of elegance.

Interactions between her and her father would include silly dad jokes which would never fail to make her cringe SO HARD. They banter a lot and have deep heart to heart talks.

They go out for shopping sometimes and sometimes Kyung Won would sleepover at her dorm when there were thunderstorms for she was afraid.

At the youthful age of 19,Hyunsuk is very ambitious and idealistic. Coming from a lower-income family,he strives doubly hard to try to make it big in life,more so because he's an only child. He doesn't remember his own father who left them when he was 2 and lives only with his mother,who is a hospital reception clerk and earns peanuts. He wants to excel in his career and life to be able to support his mother,sometimes even having very unrealistic dreams like hoping to be a Hollywood star someday alongside big shots like Chris Hemsworth and Emma Watson. He's goofy and funny,loving to have a good laugh with some of his silly humour. He's righteous to a fault and won't stand for injustice which can sometime land his own in trouble. Hyunsuk is aggressive in nature and is quick to resort to violence when dealing with threats. Yet,he's also gentlemanly and will never be intentionally rude to women or treat them unequally. He is a fillial boy and tries his best to earn money to both sustain the household and repay his mother for her care.

Hyunsuk is impulsive and jumps to decisions very quickly without thinking twice which can prove to be a folly at times. He can get jealous very easily and is often envious of others who are in better plight than he is. Riley likens him to a fiesty puppy because of how cute he can be when he's being goofy but barking and growling when provoked. He's insecure about both his financial status and his looks at times when he's got NOTHING to worry about. The guy is rather optimistic but in a way that he'd rather not acknowledge the negatives in a situation,like turning a blind eye which isn't good at times because he overlooks the important aspects to consider. Hyunsuk is also very charming and exudes a very outgoing vibe. This makes him quite the popular person in the room,especially among girls!

love story

They first met when Hyunsuk was delivering takeaway to Riley's dorm. She ordered takeaway most of the time during her trainee days because she dreaded to cook and buying takeaway was cheaper in her opinion seeing she couldn't cook for nuts and would just end up wasting money on ingredients. Upon their first meeting,Riley didn't care much for him but Hyunsuk was dumbstruck. He found her just absolutely stunning and because he was new to the job,he didn't know that she was a regular customer. He really wanted to see her again so he was always eager to deliver any orders sent to the SM building. As stalker-ish as it sounds,Hyunsuk would look out for her name in the delivery checklist and make sure he gets to deliver her order. It's sort of a crush bordering on infatuation. Once when he delivered her order,she actually invited him in to share her meal with her. One can imagine just how taken aback he was! Turns out,Riley had began to notice him as well and found him to be rather attractive. Knowing Riley,she's not afraid to take the initiative at all. 

They exchanged numbers and email addresses and were communicating quite frequently as they forged a friendship with each other. To Riley,it was a friendship. To Hyunsuk,he kind of wanted something more. The more they interacted,the closer they got and the stronger his feelings grew. Riley definitely felt it. it was so obvious! He thought he was being subtle but honestly he couldn't see himself from a 3rd person's point of view. She noticed how he would stare at her with a dreamy look in his eyes,how he would whenever she talked to another guy with a barely concealed hint of irritation and jealousy in his words. and how he liked to talk to her about relationships or most of all about their relationship. They would meet for meals and just talk and share about their lives. They also loved to horse around with each other and just laugh together. She even introduced him to Game of Thrones and her friends in the US via Skype!

On a summer's night,he finally confessed to her. It didn't come as too much of a surprise since Riley had already suspectedhe had feelings for her that go beyond that of friendship but she didn't expect that he'd actually confess his feelings outright to her. Honestly,Riley didn't see him as someone she would date. She wanted someone professional,someone mature and also someone OLDER. The guy was 2 years younger than she was! She wasn't ready to be no noona. So Riley did what she did. She rejected him. His face had been blank as she listed her reasons. How he wasn't successful enough,how they were opposites and how she was older than him. After she finished her tirade,his face was as blank as before but it had gone a pale shade of white. His face was impassive but his eyes reflected almost overwhelming hurt. Hyunsuk left without a word. Riley honestly thought their friendship was over so she didn't bother going after him. There was a sinking feeling in her heart but she ignored it. She saw him as a friend,nothing more. Period.

When he came back the next day,she was extremely surprised. Riley thought the friendship had been gone for good. Hyunsuk didn't look like how he did the previous day but rather his usual sunny self and a hint of steely determination in his vibe. Hyunsuk wasn't about to give her up. He promised to win her over and that age wasn't a problem.

'It's only a 2 year ,for god's sake.'

He told her that he wasn't about to give up on the possibility of a relationship. Riley looked at him and laughed. 

'Yeah,sure. There isn't a possibility to begin with but I'll see you try,buddy.' 

She didn't think he really meant it. But he did and her heart best be ready for it.

RELATIONSHIP STATUS

As of debut,they are still in close contact and Hyunsuk is still trying. They have an awkward but friendly relationship with each other such that they can still talk and joke around but Hyunsuk would be flirty af with her. It's something she isn't very used to. Sometimes,they quarrel when Riley accidentally mentions his family. it's a soft spot for him. She would claim that he knows everything about her but she doesn't know crap about him so even if they were to ultimately be in a relationship,it would be one sided and would not work out. It's something he needs to work on and for her to understand that this is a sore point for him. He hates to be reminded of his own inferiority as he perceives and his financial problems. He would regularly visit her with hand plucked flowers from the gardens. His style of wooing is different because he couldn't part with his money. Hyunsuk needed it for the household and Riley also needs to be able to understand that. She cares more than she should about the mere 2 year which has become a common topic of banter for the both of them.
