35 Questions for Writers

Stolen from stardrop <33

1. How did you come up with your username and what does it mean?

My mom used to call my Idaho (the only nickname I had growing up). It morphed into Miss Idaho in high school, which then became Miss Ida S. H. because of my middle and last name. Boring and unoriginal, I know XD

2. Which is your most subscribed to story?

Everyday Miracles

3. Why did you pick your user photo/thumbnail?

Because I love ChanSoo abusing each other =D

4. Who is your AFF bestie?

I don't really have any. I haven't been socially active in here in forever, so most of the people I talked to are either gone or I am now using other platforms to communicate with them. I blame RPR...

5. Is there a fanfic that you keep going back to read again and again?

Hmm.. Yes and no. There is a fic I've read a couple of times and still think about frequently. I've been meaning to read it again but it's long and I have so little time these days. Someday...

6. How many stories are you subscribed to?

73. I have been good at cleaning out my subscriptions during the years. I honestly use them more as bookmarks.

7. Which AU do you find yourself writing most?

I haven't written anything in forever, but I tend to write 'normal' life AUs of different kinds. I like those.

8. How many friends do you have?

198

9. Is there something you'd like to write about but are afraid of people judging you for it? (Feeling brave? If so, share it!)

I don't know why, but the other day I was like "I wanna write tentacle with egg laying!" pretty much out of the blue and then I stopped and asked myself "if I ever did write that (highly doubtful cause time limitations and writer's block), would I even have the guts to post it?". I am still not sure about the answer, to be honest...

10. Is there something you'd like to be better at on aff? Writing, graphic design (posters), replying to comments, updating regularly, etc..?

Engaging with other people and getting back to writing (and updating). There are some stories that I still haven't finished that I'd really love to finish.

11. How many subscribers do you have?

3985 unique subscribers

12. How many stories have you published online to this day (finished and unfinished)?

65 stories, 53 finished, 2 drabble collections, one directory fic (a challenge I set myself once and never finished D:), one collection of user manuals to SuJu that only has two members so far (I'm almost finished with Ryeowook's manual, though!), and 8 unfinished. There are at least two of them (18 Years of Love and Just A Little Human) that I really hope to finish one day. I love those two a lot.

13. How many stories do you have saved in your writing program?

Uhm.... All of the ones I published plus the gazillion drafts and stuff I've collected over the past five years I've written fanfictions. I have a couple that are either done or almost done that I just never posted.

14. Do you write down story ideas, or just keep them in your head?

I should write them down. Sometimes I do. Sometimes I just spin the idea in my head a million times.

15. Have you ever co-authoured a story?

No. I am way too perfectionistic to be able to do that. I want my work to be mine and no one else's and I want full influence on what's going on.

16. How did you discover AFF?

I randomly searched for SuJu fics cause I ran out of fics to read on LiveJournal...

17. Do you consider yourself to be a popular or famous authour on AFF?

Nope.

18. Do you have a nickname or fandom name for your readers?

Naah. I always found it kind of pretentious to give your readers a name like that and referring to them as your "fandom".

19. Was there an AFF authour who inspired or encouraged you to write?

emii_vipelf. She is also the author of the story series I keep coming back to. Unfortunately, she lost access to her account and is, as far as I know, no longer active on the new account she moved to.

20. How many karma points do you have?

8560

21. What writing advice would you give to a beginning authour?

Do not write for fame or popularity. Do not base your urge to write on the response of your readers; it will kill that urge pretty quickly. Do not force stories. Do not be afraid of writing drabbles and odd little pieces of weird that inspires you. Be brave, embrace your mistakes, learn from them. Realise that even if a story means the world to you, it might not be the next Harry Potter book and that is COMPLETELY okay. Write what you love, what you feel, not what you think will give you more subscribers, upvotes and comments.

22. Do you plot out your stories, or do you just figure it out as you go?

Eh... Mostly figure out as I go. I have only written a couple of chaptered fics and those have been as I go (INCORRECT!! I just looked over my fics to see what I actually had up here and I actually have a handful or so chaptered fics. They've all been as I go, though.). Everyday Miracles was supposed to be only 5-6 chapters or so and it ended up being 49, so... Planning is good, but don't be afraid to go new ways if inspiration strikes.

23. Have you ever gotten a bad review or comment on a story? If so, what did you do?

I did once. I got upset because it was a troll-y comment and it made me really sad. I reported them.

24. Is there a certain type of scene that you have a hard time writing? (action, , etc...)

As sad as it is, is hard for me these days. I've written it so much that it just feels really repetitive. I've tried to read some to get some linguistic input but everything boils down to the same cliché descriptions and it's just not fun to write anymore.

25. What story(s) are you working on now?

..... *coughs* I wish I was working on some, I really, sincerely did. I wrote down a story idea I got in class today when I was utterly bored. Unfortunately, I literally don't have time to write right now. I am running from one thing to the other and I only have a little time during the day when I am not doing something (even though I am supposed to be doing something). I hope I will have more time either come January when I start my master's thesis or next summer when I am done studying forever and have to find an adult job.

26. Do you plan your next project(s) before you finish your current ongoing story(s)?

I just go with the flow. If I am inspired, I don't hold back to finish something else, I let the inspiration flow while it's there.

27. Do you have a daily writing goal set for yourself?

No, I don't have time these days D:

28. Do you think you've improved as a writer since you first started?

Definitely. But it feels like I've become too comfortable in my writing. I am better than when I started out but I feel like I've fallen a little down again. I don't think it's laziness, it's just that I am so comfortable in the way I write that I sometimes don't think to spice things up a little and make it less boring to write.

29. What is your favourite story that you've written?

Everyday Miracles. I am so incredibly proud of it. Proud enough that I have the title and a giraffe tattooed on my arm to commemorate it. I also have a couple of oneshots that really mean a lot to me personally or that just stand out to me as really great work. I love Best Friends because it's so twisted and yet it warms my heart a little to read it. Living Proof and the connected two stories were written about my depression, so those are very hard for me to re-read, but also very important. They helped me a great deal working through some of thoughts and feelings I was battling. The SuJu manuals were a blast to write and I want to get back to those! Looking back, there are actually a lot of my stories that I really love and am really proud of.

30. What is your least favourite story that you've written?

Running in circles (cause it kind of did run in circles, it was just a random blurb of nothing...), A little more personal (I struggled with this and ended up forcing the ending. I don't even remember any details from the story, other than it being a generic "I'm in love with my bandmate, oh no!"-fic that I wrote just because that was what everyone seemed to be writing), and Banana Split (I don't even want to re-read it, it was my first only fic and I am sure it is packed with all the cringe).

31. Where do you see yourself (as a writer) in 5 years?

I don't know. Hopefully I will have found my muse again, whether through fanfiction or original writing. I really do enjoy writing.

32. How many upvotes do you have?

749

33. What is the easiest thing about writing?

When the flow is happening and it's just pouring out of your finger tips. When inspiration hits like that.

34. What is the hardest thing about writing?

Actually sitting down and focusing on writing.

35. Why do you write?

At first I did it because I thought it was interesting. Then it became my way of dealing with my emotions, of isolating the emotion and putting it into another person in another situation so I could study it and hopefully grow to understand it. To overcome past traumas, to tell stories and themes of importance to me. To satisfy my muse. To indulge myself.

This is my worst and quite frankly my most painful issue with writing. I seem to always write because I feel like I need to impress people or be 'liked' and shiz... I always feel the need to be impressive or extraordinary and before coming to aff I was rather quiet about my writing, witting for days upon days nonstop, when I published my first fic I soon realized it wasn't as great as I thought, peoples comments made me realize I wasn't as good a writer as I thought I could be. Sometimes I wish I never started writing on AFF - but unfortunately, you can't really turn back clocks. I want so badly to write, but my reasons for it are flawed. This made me start crying honestly... i honestly before I came here I forgot why I started to write... now I feel like I lost sight of that a long time ago because I posted on AFF and got an ego trip from the amount of people liking my stuff... writing shouldn't be a popularity contest... I'm like...straight up crying right now.
