appearance » Dohyun is quite tall with his 178 cm, but because he has such great proportions, he actually seems taller than that. Broad shoulders, long legs. His body is quite muscled from all the sports and he weighs 70 kg because of that, quite heavy, but that's all muscle. Or at least he says so. He has a tattoo of a phoenix on his back, but not many people outside of his circle of close friends actually know about it. He has sharp and long mono-lidded eyes, glaring strongly, especially when he's wearing light color lenses. His nose is also quite sharp, and his lips are very plump, making him look like he's muttering his lips all the time. His teeth are slightly crooked, and depending on the angle it looks like he has a gap between his front teeth, but it's mostly the lighting. His jawline is pretty much hidden, and most of the fat of his face is hidden under his chin, it makes him look chubbier than he usually is and friends and groupmates love to tickle it like they are tickling a kitten's chin.

style » His style is generally an interesting mix of very proper and clean clothes and street style. His outfits are most of the time amazing, with his hiphop influenced proper and clean style, like combining a formal blazer with ripped jeans and all, or a very clean outfit that is shaken up with a baseball jacket. But sometimes he misses the purpose of the outfit completely too and then the other members will laugh at him while he doesn't know why his outfit doesn't work.

WHY ARE YOU LIKE THIS?

BACKGROUND » Little Dohyun was born as the oldest of a family, with a younger sister and brother. He grew up in the foreign country of Great Britain, protecting his two much younger babies from possible lurking dangers, and still watches over them closely. Since he was young, the kid was going around, dancing, jumping, doing crazy tricks. He was overflowing with energy, and his parents asked if he wanted to join a sports club or another hobby. Dohyun couldn't decide between two pretty unconventional choices for little boys. His parents expected him to say taekwondo, or soccer, but the kid couldn't decide between gymnastics and vocal class. So his parents decided to send him to both. A few boys at his school started to mock him for that, because both of the clubs were considered for girls, but he simply shrugged it off and kept doing what he wanted to do. He worked hard and became really good at both, and he started to dream of making that his career when he grew up, but which one of the two?

As he grew older, the answer grew clear too, Dohyun was so immersed in the world of gymnastics, and he was really good for his age, winning several local tournaments in his age range. Soon enough, Dohyun's success skyrocketed, and he was be ready to become the top of Korea. But the problem was, he was not living in Korea, so when Dohyun was 12, his parents decided that they were going to move back to Korea and invest everything in Dohyun's career. It was risky, but Dohyun was really on his way to become a national athlete. In 2012, at the age of 16, he was the youngest of the national gymnastics championships. He ranked around halfway, but people saw a lot of potential in the young boy, and expected him to grow quickly, he could even make it to the Olympic games of 2016 with his team. In 2015, he gained a silver medal on the Asian gymnastics tournament, and he got qualified for the Olympic games of 2016. But not so long after that, his dreams got shattered. The mistake, the fall, the pain, the ambulance. Articles were spread all around the world: 'Korean gymnast Yoon Dohyun breaks forearm, might have to skip Olympics next year.'

Initially, people expected him to recover quickly, and he might be able to still join the team, well, they hoped. But in the hospital, it was way worse than originally expected. Both of his forearm bones were broken, and his elbow was dislocated, and he wouldn't recover in time to join the Olympics, even worse, he would never be able to pick up his career again. He could still do gymnastics, but not at the intensity of a professional career. It would be too dangerous if he put too much pressure on his arm. Dohyun was a broken man, he was only 19 years old, and he already had to retire. But then, his little sister got an idea. The little girl had always loved music, and when Dohyun was younger, he would sometimes sing lullabies for her to let her fall asleep for a nap. She was always listening to music and also played an instrument. Why not become a trainee, she said, he was a really good vocal after all, and still took vocal classes as much as he could. Dohyun originally said no, but his little ray of sunshine was dreaming of seeing her big hero on stage, doing the thing she loved the most, and Dohyun just couldn't say no. After he recovered, around the summer of 2016, the time of the olympics, Dohyun secretly auditioned for companies, but because he was such a sports star, he didn't dare to go for the big ones at first, because they might refuse him. He did get refused quite some times because of that, untill he heard that JYP was doing open auditions, and Dohyun thought: why not? They were very surprised to see him at first, a professional gymnast with an elbow protector on his right arm, and a hopeful, yet devastated look in his eyes. They were shocked by his vocal ability, and immediately took him in, deciding to talk about his reasons to join JYP later. The new rookie trainee of JYP was more talented and a bigger celebrity than some long-term trainees, maybe even some of their idols, and Dohyun joining basically made JYP turn upside down.

Athletic and energetic: Dohyun originally dreamt of becoming an athlete, but that wasn't the path that was made for him, because something got in the way. He still needs to practice sports to lose his overflowing amount of energy, and when he doesn't, he'll get really hyper and that's a serious pain to the people around him, so they have learnt to make sure to make him to some active stuff every day. It seems like he was made for sports, and is unexpectedly good at most of them or picks them up very quickly. Except for dancing. Since his injury on his right hand, he has switched to become a left-handed in sports.

Calm and peaceful: Usually, Dohyun is a very calm person, spending time in his own small world. In important group discussions, he'll mostly just stay quiet and listen to everyone else, because he doesn't have anything to say. Not that he doesn't have his opinions, but because he doesn't want to start fights and such. He is also very relaxed most of the time, but when he gets stressed, it will be terrible and he'll become a mess.

Charming: on stage, Dohyun transforms from the clumsy boy to a y beast. He simply explodes with chique charisma and really knows how to lure the fans in with his voice, expressions and gestures. Even his own groupmates go crazy over the difference on and off-stage sometimes.

Clumsy, absentminded and confused: that's basically who he is off-stage. A lost puppy who never knows what to do. He's constantly wriggling and cringing nervously because he's so lost. He sometimes randomly trips over his own feet, drops things or spaces out. It's just so hard to him to not drift off to his own world. He's just so absorbed into his own mind that he sometimes forgets about the real world. It makes him so admirable sometimes, but at other times he can be such a pain in the because he is never listening to important announcements and everyone has to explain it twice to him. Seeing the amazing gymnast lost and confused like that is often very confusing, yet funny for fellow trainees and staff.

Naive but cautious: He's still like a child when it comes to friends, and he'll pretty much believe anything they say, but he's not the type to take risks after what happened in the past. He's very cautious, except if his friends tell him to do something, which actually makes him very vulnerable. People can easily take advantage of him by acting like they are close and like him. His real friends often have to watch over him, protecting Dohyun from fakes who only want to take advantage of him.

Relationship:  Dohyun's lovely little brother, who's only 15 years old. Yup, Dohyun came first, then his parents waited for a really long time to get two more lovely kids. Sihyun really admires his big brother, but is much more studious and wants to walk a totally different path and dreams of becoming a sports doctor. That dream appeared when Dohyun was injured, he wanted to make people like him heal faster. Sihyun is a very witty child and often disses his big bro. Dohyun protects him a lot, but Sihyun is in the phase of not liking it because he's strong enough himself. Other than that, he's a bright little goofball that loves to play around with his little sister and make her pissed off.

Relationship: The baby of the family, being only 12 years old, she actually differs 9 years with Dohyun, and 3 with Sihyun. She's an adorable little princess that's quite spoiled, but still a total sweetheart. She's Dohyun's world, a little ray of sunshine that needs to be protected at all costs. In school holidays, she always came to watch her big bro and his friends train, and the other members absolutely love her. Dohyun is super protective and possessive over his little sister, but also teases her, but she teases him too, making Dohyun really flustered, because he still can't believe it. She actually suggested he should become a trainee, because she loves music so much, and she dreams of becoming a composer, but she really wants to see her big bro perform on stage and rise again. She can be a total diva though, and make everyone shook by her witty comments.

Relationship:  A fellow JYP trainee, who has currently almost recovered from a broken leg, and thus he is a bit behind on training, and he is not expected to debut with universal rulers, but the agency promised him he'll get his chance too, maybe in the male unit? hint hint? But now, Taejoon is just supporting his bestie from the back. He is a silly and very funny boy around Dohyun, but he takes a long time to open up to others, and others see him as a very serious, studious and apathetic person.

Personality : sweet, optimistic, flirty, immature, selfish, apathetic

Relationship: his best female friend, who he trained together with for years in the gymnastics club. He has basically friendzoned the heck out of her, and she has now targeted his male groupmates in an attempt to make Dohyun jealous, but it won't work. Despite all of that flirting, she's a very sweet girl and does know all of Dohyun's groupmates and has befriended some of them. They can't meet a lot because of her training and career, but they always support each other. There were also dating rumors around them before.

Personality : tsundere, cold, focused, sneaky, sarcastic, energetic, kind

Relationship: Facing off as handsome debutees in the asian gymnastics tournament in 2015, they became rivals, and a lot of buzz was created around the Korean and Chinese boy, especially to lure in the ladies. It reminded them a lot of mnet. Zhou Lei is a rising Chinese gymnast, but was beaten by Dohyun back then, getting the bronze, while Dohyun got silver. He was not happy about that, but even though they are rivals, they can also share their friendly moments, and Lei has shown his support to Dohyun when he was recovering and also with his debuting news. Dohyun sees Lei like a friend, but Lei is a total tsundere over him, always in denial, but whenever Dohyun comes to China, Lei will be there, 'coincidentally'. Whenever Lei is in Korea, he'll come to visit Dohyun, but be like 'I came here accidentally and I bet you miss me so I thought I would come to say hi.' It's not sure that Lei actually has a crush on Dohyun or is it just in a friendly way?

TRAINEE LIFE » At first, it was very hard for Dohyun to get used to the training life, because it was totally different from his pro gymnast life, and he was still having a hard time with his right arm when he was dancing too wildly or putting a lot of pressure on it. It really wasn't easy and Dohyun had really underestimated it at first, making him feel down. But Dohyun isn't the person to easily give up, like, he almost made it to the olympics by working his off, so he didn't let it get to him too much and continued to work really hard, trying to catch up to the other trainees. The other trainees flocked around him though, and he was popular, probably because he was basically already a celebrity, and they were so surprised to see him train alongside them. Because of his popularity he was able to get a lot of help from other trainees, helping him catch up to the others and develop more as possible idol. Now he's fully used to it, but now he'll have to prepare for debut. It was kept a well-hidden secret that he's a trainee now, and a lot of people think he's just having a normal life.

comments/suggestions » If it is allowed, I will probably make an app for lovely Taejoon as well, but if not allowed i'll just make him a trainee that failed for the group. Also the age and interview things aren't easy without any other applicants yet... I hope Dohyun's age is just right, because it can't be changed much because of his career, since 16 is the minimum age of taking part of major gymnastics competitions. Also, I know the minimum of training years is 3, but it conflicts so much with his background D: I feel really bad about asking but can I please please get permission to use less? He has had vocal training since he was a child as hobby and was a gymnast...
