Theory

     *Jungkook is the only one of his friend group alive and he is trying to deal with their deaths, but ends up committing suicide himself, while on the other hand, everyone else is waiting for him on the other side.

Key Points

• We already know that the train is a significant part of this theory for many reasons:

1. Taehyung lays on the train track as you hear a train coming; it all points to him dying
2. Jungkook’s scenes are on the train which killed Taehyung.
3. Hobi is riding on the top, maybe signaling that he also may have died.

• The lyrics are one of the most important factors. They are singing about how they miss you. The ‘you’ in this case could be Jungkook or his friends, but it is most likely Jungkook because there is this part. ‘Miss you even though I’m looking at your photo’, ‘time is so cruel I hate us,’ and ‘seeing each other for once is now so hard between us’.

1. ‘Miss you even though I’m looking at your photo’

This could be Jungkook looking back. Those moments where they all are together, like the slow motion party scene, could be said ‘photos’.

2. ‘Time is so cruel I hate us’

Jungkook could be waiting for death. He is young and death is a far stretch away so time is cruel and he hates them for leaving him.

3. ‘Seeing each other for once is now so hard between us’

They were obviously close. They would see each other all the time, they were inseparable. Now it’s hard to see each other because only one of them is alive.

• They are singing about a ‘winter’, which is maybe a sad time. They are also on about how they want to get to the other side of the earth holding your hand, putting an end to this winter. The other side could be where everyone is, and them being all together will make them happy. They are singing about longing over it snowing down to have the days of spring. Jungkook is singing about how he’ll be there to see them.
• At the merry-go-round thing, Jungkook is being surrounded and circled by everyone, like is guardian angels, waiting for him.   
• The pile of clothes might be heaven. They are above the clouds, which is associated with heaven and heaven is where spirits go, giving one more reason that they could have died, and when Jungkook’s there, that was when he died.
• Jungkook is running though scenes/memories, maybe looking for everyone so he can find comfort before he died. Once he runs out of the scenes/memories, he is joined by everyone else, he finds comfort and runs. He gets stopped by the train he is in which brings him back to reality.
• In many scenes, Jungkook is lighting various objects, which could be the darkness in life. The light signifies the light in the next world.
• The most important piece of evidence that I have here is the end. You see a pair of shoes hanging from a tree, which means someone has died. When Jimin hung up those shoes, he was watching over Jungkook and saw that he died and hung them up, in that same scene they were all there watching him do so, included Jungkook.
