— Lee Yunso is a direct and straightforward person. He has no patience with people beating around the bush and likes to get straight to the point. He tells people directly what he thinks of the situation, and is not the type to gossip when he could save his time by doing something more productive.  He prefers to act according to the situation and speak up if he is not happy with something. He is rather forceful, Yunso doesn’t necessarily make conflict personal, however, for him, conflicts are usually a way of getting clarity out of the situation. He has a tendency of getting into debates or ‘gentle’ discussions (in his opinion) as a medium to inform and get things done. He is not trying to be mean or bossy. In fact, he doesn’t really care about bossing anyone around and he is only interested in getting things done in the most efficient way possible. Once, one of his ‘gentle’ discussions is over, he would most likely forget all about it, except for the outcome.

Yunso has a strong sense of individualism, which often extends to others as well. He is respectful towards other’s opinion and individualism as respect is very important to him. He hates to be walked upon and can’t tolerate the lack of respect, especially from s. He hates injustice and often use his outspoken nature to defend people who he considers weaker than him. He is often the ‘Bully’s bully,’ if he sees someone who is in no place to fight back, then he will do anything in his ability to help them. He is calculating. Yunso would consciously decide on what reaction to display according to what will benefit him the most. Add this with a dash of charisma, made Yunso a manipulative person at heart. If he wants something specific, he knows exactly how to get it. He is effective in communicating and has a special talent to make others believe in his words to either do his bidding or accept an opinion that is previously rejected. This is because he knows how to use clearly defined words and accurate sentences to appeal to others and usually knows what to expect in different situations by having suitable action plans whilst thinking at least 5 steps ahead. However, Yunso can be rash in his decisions, no matter how meticulous his planning may be. He tends to follow his instincts and improvise along the way.

He is loyal (should anyone gain his loyalty), almost to the point of a territorial manner, similar to that of a domesticated hellhound. He will defend his group mates or precious people and will stand in the way of anyone trying to harm them. He may not be the most emotional person but he trustworthy. He will reach out to them when they needed him the most and would take action when they need a pick –me-up or just a reminder to stay on track. However, that doesn’t mean that he won’t be honest with them if he disagrees with them. He may not always say the things they want to hear but he will try to support them in saying what they need to hear. Yunso does have a playful side. He enjoys keeping the entertainment going, often finding ways to make everyone laugh and will be the first to make a fool of himself. He also likes to play the 'stand up comedian' and can make himself look a lot more stupid than he really is, just to amuse people. He has a habit of making humour with a double meaning, which, coupled with his disdain for social norms, often makes him appear as a lot ruder than he really is.  Deep inside, Yunso is a romantic (although he will forcefully deny this). He believes in love in a nearly childish way (pure and idealistic) and rarely let people know about it, but he is rather a sensitive person inside. He hides this softness behind a big psychological fortress that makes him look tougher than he really is.

He is surprisingly supportive and literally would be the first person to help his group mates when they are in trouble or in need of help, (even though sometimes he can be insufficient in comforting someone or relating to others emotionally). He ‘d always has the best interest of his group mates at heart and would be more than willing to give out advices in thing that he is good at (especially rap and planning). He would break things down in easy to understand steps and make sure that they understands it before moving on to the next step. This is of course, as long as they are willing to listen and don’t complain or whine while he is helping them, that is. He understands having problems, (everyone has them) but he can’t for the love of everything sweet, understand the appeal of complaining about it and not doing something or trying find a solution for the problem. Yunso can be quite humble, especially regarding his own skills. Frequently, putting most of his success down to his group members and the teamwork they have rather than highlighting on himself. He is responsible and would make sure that s (especially the younger ones) are well taken care off and at their best, always putting their well-being (both mentally and physically)  as his top priority. He would often be more concern of his group mates than on himself at times. He is the kind of person that their managers can trust to keep s in check and can handle stressful situations in a calm manner without causing any additional hiccups along the way. He is sensible, Yunso won’t start on something unless he knows that he would be able to do it and would weigh down pros and cons of the situation before making a decision. He is not a fan of making decisions based on emotions and would face a problem in a logical manner. He is also willing to listen to all sides of the problem and won’t out right shut people off since he is more than happy to adjust his plans/behaviour, as long as it is brought to him in a very logical way that is.

Yunso may seems like he is actually made out of stone (tireless and unsinkable) but he is still human. He is good at hiding what he feels and selecting the emotions or feelings that are okay to share without causing people to pry more into his private emotions. When he fails to meet his own standards (which is quite high), he would often need some time away from s so that he could settle down his inner turmoil and gather up his wits. He has to be strong after all. Yunso is selective.  He isn’t interested in anybody outside of his circle and doesn’t even want to learn about them. Instead, He would adopt an ‘us and them’ mentality, and would not easily extend kindness or empathy to others He is also not afraid to walk away from someone who is disloyal, especially if he knows it was the right thing to do. He cares about the people that he kept close to him and works hard to make sure that they stick by him. Which is why he has zero patience for people who he can’t trust and will not view it as a lost if he has to remove someone from his life.

background

— Lee Yunso was born in Liverpool, United Kingdom, where his family had stayed for the first year of his life before moving to Busan to be nearer to his paternal grandparents. He has a relatively normal childhood, other than the usual fights and arguments with his brothers over toys or cartoon shows to watch, it was considerably okay.

Yunso began to develop his interest in American hip-hop and rap in middle school after his Sunbaenim had rap to a song when they were bored out of their minds, not to mention their brains were no longer functioning correctly after long hours of studying, during that one faithful school night. Music was an escape for Yunso, it was the one thing that he didn’t feel pressured in doing because no one had expected anything of him. When his peers were busy playing computer games, Yunso would be writing rap lyrics on the corner of his workbook (which cause him to get in trouble with his teacher because he forgot erased it before handing it over) or textbook, making simple melodies from the limited musical knowledge he has but he still enjoys nonetheless. It was also around this time that Yunso started to fiddle around in making his own beats. He would spend hours on his computer at night under the pretence of studying to browse through internet forums and tutorials to learn about the basics of computer based music making, of which he kept hidden from his parents. Like a secret that only he, knew of.

It was also around this period that Yunso was involved in Busan’s very own underground rap scene. It was a by invite event that only regulars of the scene were able get in and Yunso’s sunbaenim, Jung Hyoho, happened to be one of them (he is also the one that got Yunso interested in hip hop in the first place).  Hyoho invited him to come as a supporter for his performance in a bi-monthly Rip off and maybe get him interested in joining his cohort since they had been thinking of adding new blood into their team recently. Yunso caught their eye (well, ears) after they heard him jamming to an American song on class duty so, isn’t about time he’d played with the big leagues already? Yunso wasn’t so sure at first. He wasn’t that familiar with the places that Hyoho was implying but after enough convincing and a promised that he would take care of the younger boy, Yunso somewhat reluctantly agreed, and was not because he was curious and maybe a lot more interested than he appears to be. Hyoho went to pick him up with the guise of studying together for their upcoming monthly test before both of them went to where they were actually going, the Rip off.  It was safe to say that Yunso had already made up his mind after the first two performances.  Under Hyoho’s guidance (or by his stage name ‘Aylo’), Yunso performed on his first stage among the countless of others, under the name ‘Boy Shady’.  In his last year of middle school, Yunso had decided to apply for a high school in Seoul. His parents were supportive of him, thinking that would be a good opportunity for him to get better exposure and education in the big city, as well as having more chances of entering for one of the major universities after he graduated. This was only half the truth as to why Yunso wanted to move to Seoul, the other half was because he wanted to get to know more about Seoul’s underground music scene and make it big there.

Yunso found out that living in Seoul was a lot harder that he had initially thought it would be. The living cost there was higher than Busan, and he didn’t want to burden his parents financially so he started working part time by the second school semester of his first year there. He worked a lot of odd jobs here and there since he still have to keep up with his study schedule but he managed it somehow at least he can take on most of the financial burden. One of the workers at his part time job suggested that he audition for an idol agency after listening to the countless times that Yunso would entertained them with his singing and rapping during their closing clean up. Yunso just laugh it off, saying that he is not that good-looking enough to one of the pretty boys in tv but at the same time, he did thought that maybe he should at least try. What else he has to lose, he didn’t come to Seoul just to study after all, he came here to share to people his music. After pep talking to himself and receiving a lot of weird looks from his classmates later, Yunso finally made his decision and sends hi application form via email to several entertainment agencies (which includes JYP, Cube, SM, and YG). He only received a confirmation email from one of them and that is YG as they invited him to attend their monthly audition. As he went there, Yunso was overwhelmed by the amount of talents there and suddenly felt grateful when he was one of the hundred potential trainees of YG auditioning for their dreams. Sure, Yunso did struggled in the dancing area but what really blown the judges away was his rapping skills and by the end of 2011, Yunso receive a phone call, informing him that he as officially a YG trainee and he should move in the dorms immediately.

— He is the type that rarely gets sick but when he does, its rarely mild, to the point of getting himself hospitalised from the few times he did.

— It’s complicated • Kim Jiwon|Bobby (Robert) / 22 / 8/10/ 
Bobby and Yunso are in friendly terms with each other. They actually had into a friendly dis battle when they were trainees after Bobby made a comment about the other trainees calling Yunso ‘King’, of which Yunso fired back with a jab of his own by calling Bobby, ‘Robert’ (which is where Yunso’s nickname for Bobby came from). They are okay with each other and are in a comfortable relationship. Bobby would even forget to call Yunso ‘Hyung’ at times and often speak to him in a casual manner (where the other trainees are scared to do so, considering how intimidating Yunso appears). However, y knew better and Yunso would always be his ‘sulky hyung’ whenever he did not pay attention to him or acknowledge his rap skills (Bobby does acknowledges Yunso’s skills, it’s just too much fun teasing Yunso about it).

 

— That thing • Kim Dongmin| Min / 16/ 5/10
Yunso is often accused of playing favourite when Dongmin is concerned, since the younger teen usually receive the least amount of biting comments during practice (only during practice though).Yunso knows Min is competent enough to handle himself (he knows the boy is a perfectionist) so he didn’t have any reason to order the boy around during practice. The really obvious age difference between made their relationship a little awkward but Yunso tries not to be too overbearing (Min already has the Beautiful Lighting for that) and would try his best to humor Dongmin’s antics the best he can. Yunso would also low-key calls Dongmin, his troublesome maknae and refer him as his little ‘pup’.
 

 

— Brother • Lee Yunhyuk|Hyukie / 21 / Trainee Wielding Inspector/ 9/10
Yunso and Yunhyuk are very different but at the same time are very similar to each other. Both of them share a certain love for well thought out debates and logic but Hyuk is much more in tune to emotional cues than Yunso is and is much more laid back while Yunso is more intense. This often causes them to have many disagreements with each other, particularly on how to handle people best. However, when they realize anyone of them is at risk (or anyone talking trash about their family), both of them can form a team within a fraction of a second.  Most of Hyuk’s and So’s arguments are actually heated debates that Yunjung didn’t want to bother being a referee of. Since Yunjung is the baby of the family, Yunso is a lot more protective of him than he is with Yunhyuk and had practically raised him when their mother (which is why Yunso would often say “I raised you on my back!” whenever Yunjung acted a little cheeky for his liking). He is the one that Yunso gets along the best and often have a degree of telepathic communication when it comes to making mischief (or torturing Yunhyuk). They relationship is often really casual and buddy like sinceboth of them are the troublemakers of the family with a long history of inside jokes (of which Yunhyuk also shares). Yunso is the most supportive of Yunjung’s ulzzang/ modelling career. Yunso had always looked at Hyoho as his role model while Hyoho had treated him like a cute little brother that he never had. They did stayed in contact after Yunso left Busan and their relationship is mostly a drinking buddy type thing whenever Hyoho is in Seoul. — When Yunso sets foot on YG training centre, he was actually overwhelmed by the environment there. He had a hard time adjusting to the demanding schedule and was generally lacking in the necessary skill that most of the other trainees had perfected, he also felt very pressured since Mr Yang had allowed him to train in YG under a 1 month probation time. Mr Yang didn’t want someone that could only rap but at the same time Yunso had potential so if he can survived his first month, then he will see how Yunso goes. Taking on what the director had said to him to heart, Yunso trained, oh, did he trained, he was climbing higher and higher as he goes, what he lacks in refined skills and experience, he makes it up with his persistence to be in league with the other trainees and his ability to adapt. Some of the trainees there would find Yunso’s presence almost infuriating since they are often compared to his level of dedication to improve. It was safe to say Yunso was not the most like trainee but no one can deny that Yunso was driven and worked hard for his skills. He had been there for more than a month now and Mr Yang hadn’t said a word about it.  

However, everything comes with a price, what little time he has between working, training had led to Yunso’s slowly decreasing school performance, and Yunso was forced to a come clean to his parents after keeping his trainee status a secret for so long. His parents weren’t exactly thrilled to learnt of their son involvement with a talent agency and they did express their displeasure as such. His father was particularly vocal about Yunso throwing away his future and he had almost called YG to pull him off, when Yunso begged him not to. He was doing great, it was something he loves doing, please, please let him stay. Yunso even went as far as saying that he was not throwing away anything, he is still studying, he will get his grades up again and he is still going to continue on training. He never asked for anything more than this. If it wasn’t for his mother, soothing her husband to let Yunso make his own decisions then Yunso’s training would have ended. His father let him be, under the condition that he would not neglect his studies, if he finds out that Yunso’s grades were low again. He would not be hesitant to make the call. It was years since that day and Yunso is still a trainee. The extra years of training had made Yunso an incredible rapper with an all-rounded skill set and experience but was it enough?  Many had asked him, when is he going to debut? After Winner, after iKON, how long is he going to rot in YG’s dungeon?
