PERSONALITY :　As always, let's start positive! Hyunjoo is insanely cheerful no matter what. He's not optimistic, but despite everything, he can manage to keep a smile on his face (it can be genuine, mocking, or sadistic lmao). He also exudes charisma; after all, what else is to be expected from SM's triple threat? Well, okay, he's not the main dancer, but he has the looks, the voice, and the rap. Hyunjoo's grades have always been in the top of his class, but more than that, he just knows a lot of trivia questions. How many stomachs does a cow have? Hyunjoo will know. (It's four, btw lol). He's also a pretty realistic person, setting goals that he knows he'll be able to achieve, and he doesn't waste his time daydreaming, opting to train instead.

On the other hand, Hyunjoo tends to care about his image, so he can be a very two-faced character. That is to say, he might be in a really bad mood, but as soon as the cameras click on (or a sunbae checks in), he'll turn on a bright smile and act like nothing's happened. Afterwards, though, he'll let his anger explode. That brings us to "prone to anger". Well... that's pretty self-explanatory lol. Hyunjoo has a really bad temper, and the smallest things can irritate him, and he deals with his anger in a bad way, choosing to let it out on other people rather than something else (like training). Anyway, he's also a frequent liar. It started out as something fun, like he would purposely decieve people as a joke and make fun of them when they believed him, but soon, it turned into actual, habitual lying. Of course, he would never lie in front of the cameras or anyone important (like the CEO of the company), but... yeah... Okay, and his impatience stems from his anger issues, sorta. It's like, Hyunjoo's had everything promptly ready for him (spoiled kid), so he doesn't have the patience to wait for most things.

BACKGROUND :　Bae Hyunjoo was born in 1997 in Seoul. He has an older sister, Bae Suji, affectionately called Suzy (alright I know Suzy's background might be completely different, but for this story only, pls XD). Ever since he was a kid, Hyunjoo's had everything he wanted. Suzy treasured her little brother, and their parents had always wanted a son. Well, so Hyunjoo grew up pretty spoiled, and when he entered school, he didn't have many friends. He didn't know how to share, how to get along with other people, or even how to treat other kids nicely! Hyunjoo's parents took him out of public school and put him into private school.

Now, Hyunjoo's parents weren't exceptionally rich, and paying for private school meant that they had to cut down on other stuff. Hyunjoo was only about six (I know! So spoiled smh), so he didn't understand why suddenly, his parents weren't buying him new toys and clothes and stuff anymore. He threw temper tantrums about twice a week, but his parents still tried to placate him by going to thrift stores and letting him pick out toys. Suzy, on the other hand, wasn't allowed anything because the parents thought she would understand them. She did... to an extent. Remember, Suzy was only nine by this point, so she wanted to be treated like the kid she was, and she didn't understand why her brother was so much more loved. She started bullying Hyunjoo, ignoring him and hitting him, and Hyunjoo was confused and scared. His sister had always loved him, so why was she suddenly being mean?

When Hyunjoo turned twelve, one of his only friends, Min Yoongi, showed him Super Junior's Sorry Sorry, and Hyunjoo was hooked. He began to listen to kpop, and kpop was all that would come out of his mouth. Suzy, even though she still resented her brother, couldn't help but be influenced. She was only 15, but she was very pretty, and she ended up being scouted by JYP that very year. Hyunjoo was so jealous. The only reason their parents let Suzy go to JYP was because they thought Hyunjoo might also follow her, and as long as they made it big, they would be fine. Hyunjoo, however, didn't want to go to JYP. He wanted to go into SM.

That's why he decided to start a cover group with Yoongi. Now, remember, Hyunjoo has like no friends, but Yoongi had a bunch. They ended up getting about 10 people together to form a cover group. They would train during the week (after doing hw) and perform in Hongdae on the weekends. When Hyunjoo was 16, Suzy debuted with miss A, and while he was happy for his sister, he was worried about his own future. He didn't want to do anything but be a star, but they weren't getting anywhere. Their covers weren't working because hardly anyone watched them because they weren't good...

THankfully, Hyunjoo looks pretty, and he was scouted while shopping with his parents. The SM agent was a godsend, and Hyunjoo could have hugged him. You know the rest: he got in, but he didn't get along with any of the trainees.

Suzy used to really like her brother, but then she started to resent him after he got so much attention. She worked hard in order to gain her parents' love, and it was only after she debuted with miss A that Hyunjoo, for once, had something to be jealous about.

Even though Yoongi is older than him, Hyunjoo met him during school, and Yoongi was the only person who could stand Hyunjoo's terrible attitude. Yoongi was one of the people who founded the cover group that got Hyunjoo his start in the industry, and when he made it into BTS, Hyunjoo wasn't jealous. He thought it made sense that Yoongi debuted before he did because Yoongi was older. They still keep in touch, and Hyunjoo is determined to catch up with his friend.

TRAINING BACKGROUND :

▸ WELL. When Hyunjoo entered the company in 2014, he was immediately humbled by all the other trainees who were so much better than he was. For once, he had to work hard, and nothing was just freely given to him. He worked hardest on his voice and found that he was a good singer AND a good rapper. Quickly, he rose to become one of the best trainees, and his old spoiled personality came back. He started to slack off and bully the other trainees, especially one girl three years younger than himself. Well, anyway, he was set to debut in NCT, but when the CEO saw how badly he'd been doing in training, he changed his mind and cut Hyunjoo. That's when Hyunjoo started to take his anger out on the other trainees more and more, and he blamed that girl especially for being a particular favorite of the CEO (which she wasn't...).
