Looking for Contests?

As most of you probably know, I'm a er for contests. Doesn't mean I'm fantastic about completing them, but I do like to spread the word when I can in the hopes that others can enjoy (in the reading and/or writing of the stories therein). And right now, there are two in particular that are great for the short term.

As part of the Fantastic Fantasy Writing Contest, Tigress is also running monthly mini-contests. The prompts change each month but the stories themselves can only be a max of 3 chapters, making sure that the authors keep it at least a little short. Then again, if you want to write a novel in 3 super long chapters, who am I to judge. haha But seriously. If you're curious, take a gander:

Monthly Mini-August Contest

Pick A Theme
Heroes Day in Zimbabwe: Write a story where the main character has a hero. It can be any form of heroism, any genre, but must incorporate the idea of another being a hero within the story or in the character's life.
Proposal or Wedding: August is a special month for me because it is the month of my parents wedding anniversary. So if you chose this one, I want romantic stories of weddings or proposald. That simple.
Augustus Month: August was named after the first Emperor of the Roman Empire, Octavius Julius Ceasar Augustus. Write a fantasy story about a young Emperor who ascends to the throne of an unstable country: enemies with political power surround him and he rules with a fragile hold, with his intellect being the way he built an empire from this point. You can write either gender, use the story of Ceasar Augustus as your beginning point but really, the point of the story can be anything, even mixing the second prompt in as a marriage to seal the kingdom. However, whatever you do, this one MUST be fantasy.

There are a few other rules and suggestions for character preference but if you're interested, please do check it out. There were some really good entries last month and we're hoping to see some more participants in the future!

Another short contest that is currently set to start running soon (entries due by October 6th) is:

World of Literature One-Shot Writing Contest

As the name implies, your entry must be a oneshot. Their guidelines include:

1) Entries must be written for this contest, no pre-published fics.
2) No EXO fics. This is to give more attention to other groups or bands and promote them as well.
3) Subscribing to the thread is a must, for effective dissemination of updates and announcements.
4) Strictly no plagiarism, and entries must display the banner of the contest with a link back to the thread.
5) To submit an entry, the author must make a blog post about his/her entry and participation to this contest. Comment the link of the blogpost below
6) Foreword section must be filled.
7) All entries must be completed on or before October 6, 2017
8) Be kind to everyone! This is the most important of all

I haven't submitted anything to it yet, but I do intend to. Now I just have to figure out what I want to write about... haha

And finally, if something a bit longer (and more fantasy oriented) is more to your taste, then I do recommend you checking out the:

Fantastic Fantasy Writing Contest

While she does have some guidelines about what characters/groups/pairings you can use (or that she would prefer), there's a lot of room to play with who's available.

If you're struggling to find an idea, she has also provided numerous image and plot prompts for writers to consider in order to help spark something.

The deadline is currently set for March 31st, 2018 so it does give one a fair bit of time to plot something out and get started.

Enjoy! <3
