character's background
Choi Aerin was born in Incheon on a sunny day. She has an older sister by four years, Mirin. When Aerin was two, her family moved to Seoul in order to accomodate her father's job as a soldier (he was re-stationed in Seoul). Despite her father's hard job and long work hours, Aerin and Mirin grew up with a relatively normal life. Their mother, however, put a lot of emphasis of studying and school. Aerin didn't really mind that her mother cared so much, but she didn't want to be yelled at all day, you know?
Well, anyway, when Aerin was Eight (2005), her sister started to follow the popular music. At the time, the newest group was Super Junior. Aerin and Mirin had always been very close, so when her sister started listening to Super Junior, Aerin did too. She didn't really like Twins; she thought it sounded too weird. However, she did extremely like TVXQ, and soon, Aerin started to dream about being able to sing on a big stage in front of a large audience. Mirin, on the other hand, saw listening to music and following popular music as just a hobby; besides, their mother would never agree to either of them becoming a kpop star.
Despite this, Aerin would tell her father about her dreams, and he would listen to her sing. She trusted him with her dream and promised to one day make him proud. Her father, touched, told her mother to sign both Aerin and Mirin up for singing lessons. Her mother protested, but her father insisted, and so Aerin finally was able to follow her dreams. Mirin did not agree to this, however, and she was mad at Aerin. Mirin's dream was to become a world-famous piano player, and she wanted to take piano lessons, so she was jealous that Aerin was able to follow her own dreams. From then on, Mirin stopped sharing her things with Aerin, and their relationship became strained.
After Mirin graduated from high school and went to Seoul University to major in chemistry, Aerin was left home with her mother. Her mother, proud of Mirin for going to a good school, placed a lot of pressure on Aerin to keep up her grades. Aerin dealt with it because she knew her mother only meant well, but at the same time, she found escape and solace in going out to Hongdae with friends. She would sing at small gigs, saving her money to audition someday with a big entertainment company. Her mother, knowing all this, chose to turn a blind eye to it; after all, as long as Aerin kept her grades up, singing would just make her life better, right? And all parents just want their kids to be happy.
When Aerin was Twelve (2009), her father was dispatched to Busan to deal with a case about illegal drugs. He died in a gun fight.
That was the year Aerin auditioned for Woollim Entertainment. She did make it in, and she swore to make her father proud.
That was also the year her sister changed majors; she would now be majoring in music theory. When Aerin found out, she immediately regretted being so cold towards her sister and decided to patch their relationship. Her mother, as well, felt sorry that she'd never really supported her oldest daughter in her dreams, and the family was all on good terms again.
I'll elaborate on the Woollim thing in training background.

family
— Older sister; Choi Mirin (28)
Aerin and Mirin were the typical siblings, fighting one second and then laughing together the next. However, Mirin was jealous that her parents let Aerin follow her dream, so she stopped treating Aerin as well. Of course, Mirin didn't abuse her or anything like that, but they just... stopped talking so much. Mirin was glad that they made up, though, because bearing the weight of their father's loss took a huge toll on her mental health, and Aerin was always ready to be there for her.
— Kim Haena; mother (50)
Aerin's mother was a strict woman who made sure her children knew how important school was. She often pushed Aerin to do her best and taught her her signature phrase: if you're going to do something, do it right, or else don't do it at all. Aerin wasn't as close to her mother since she took away a lot of childhood fun, but she understood why her mother was her strict.
— Choi Byungho; father (39 at time of death)
Aerin's father was the one who really understood what his younger daughter wanted, and he made sure to support her dreams as long as he was alive. In doing so, however, he did indeed neglect his elder daughter's feelings, but he never actually realized since he was so busy so often. His death was what caused Aerin to become so cynical, but it was also what inspired her to really become a musical artist.
friends
— Lee Howon; Infinite (30 at time of story lol)
They met when Aerin was still at Woollim. She was, admittedly, pretty terrible at dancing, so he offered to help her. She snapped a pretty rude response back, and they just kept roasting each other like that. Eventually, he did help her with the dancing, and he even introduced her to his teammates.
— Yesung; Super Junior (37)
Of course Aerin would be close with Super Junior! However, she's most familiar with Yesung because, well, being vocalists, he's helped her a lot with developing her voice.
— The other Utopia members, hopefully! Actually, I really like Midori Hayashi and Nam Jiyae's characters lol if that helps.

training background
Right, so Aerin's first company was actually Woollim. She started training in 2009, when she was Twelve. However, Woollim had no plans to debut a girl group since, well, they were focusing on Infinite's upcoming debut. Well, Aerin stuck it out anyway, and sure, of course she made some friends! Admittedly, she wasn't close with any of them because she just wanted to train and debut. She actually became one of the top trainees and was supposed to debut with Lovelyz in 2014 (she would be 17), but she never made the lineup because she was "too cold towards the other trainees". Aerin was furious; she nearly quit, but Sunggyu managed to convince her to stay. Right after Lovelyz debuted, Woollim debuted Aerin as a solo singer with digital single called "Hello Baby" (original NC.A; or you could jsut not name the song name lol). Unfortunately, probably due to the fact that Lovelyz was promoting, Aerin's single flopped. This time, not even Sunggyu could make her stay, and she decided to focus on her studies.
After she graduated college in 2020 (23) with a degree in music broadcasting, Aerin realized that she still missed singing and dancing. Coincidentally, she heard from a friend that SM was having open auditions. At first, Aerin was hesitant to attend an open audition because, well, she would be probably one of the oldest auditioners. It would be sort of embarrassing. However, to achieve her dream, Aerin put down her pride and attending the audition. The judges were awed by her voice and even asked her if she'd had previous training. She told them that she was supposed to debut in Lovelyz but ended up debuting solo and flopping. She didn't expect SM to pick her up, but they did, and what was better, they put her under Label SJ. This time, Aerin told herself she would definitely make friends and get along with all the other trainees.
comments or scene suggestions
Okay so I changed everything you wanted me to! I hope it's good enough, but if it's not, I can always change it again lol
Um... scene requests... oh, I guess I really want to see the girls on their own variety show! If that's too much, just any variety show that exists now would be fine (like Weekly Idol). Also, I sort of want Howon to be a minor love rival... lmao.
